The Baker Arms in North Dorset

We have visited the Bakers Arms numerous times now. Their Sunday roast is delicious. Extremely good portions at a very good price. This also applies to their regular menu. The quiz evenings on Thursdays are a joy. Plenty of chances to win something throughout the evening, and the "Bingo" afterwards is equally entertaining. Tom and Sam are most welcoming. Their commitment to their customer's enjoyment is commendable. Sharon and I have become grateful "regulars", enjoying wonderful food, a good selection of beverages, and frequent entertainment. The Bakers Arms is a typical village pub; warm, welcoming, delicious food that is extremely well priced, all provided by two wonderful Landlords. I highly recommend a visit. You will come back.

Went with friends to a drag night on a Saturday evening. It was absolutely fantastic. The pub was full to capacity with everybody enjoying the drag act and a few beers. This pub is back to how it should be. 👏

A really friendly atmosphere and great service. They went out of their way to accommodate me with a vegetarian option for dinner, and remembered our drinks from the night before. Great stop after walking up Hambledon Hill.

We popped up for a drink and some lunch. Tom and Sam are great hosts and we had a couple of sharing boards which were fabulous and they can't faulted Great value, tasty and we will definitely be back.

We walked over and it wasn't open until 4 so we went to the Saxon instead

We stopped in during a long walk and it was what all pubs should be like. The village is lucky to have such a place. The owners and the patrons were very helpful and friendly.

How lucky we are to have a fabulous pub right in the heart of our village! Well done to John and Lynn for keeping this village institution going for this generation and the next - not an an easy task, but one that they have risen to with hard work and good cheer. Andrew

The Land lady and land lord, Lynne and John, at the Bakers Arms Pub offer exceptional and welcoming service. From the moment we walked in, their warm smiles and attentive approach made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy, and their genuine hospitality truly stood out. It's clear that they take pride in creating a welcoming environment for their patrons. We had a wonderful time, and we'll definitely be back to enjoy their great service and the delightful pub experience.

We stopped in on a Sunday, for a weekend away in Dorset (in May - late review), after reading their reviews. What a charming local pub it is, very friendly, people stopping off after church service had finished. We had a fantastic roast Sunday lunch and we would be coming back again if the chef was staying! Parking on the roadside. Nice little pub garden. Great Pimms! Amazing food - the scotch egg is to die for. What more can you ask for.

Proper village pub with pool table and good beer (perhaps slight room for another brewer, once landlords settled in). Welcoming landlords. No frills.

Although they don't do food they offer a lovely friendly pub with a fantastic landlord and landlady, really helpful and our stay at daisy cottage was amazing

Our visit to Shaftesbury normally means we stay in one of the big hotels but as they where full we looked a little further and luckily for us we found this beautiful little hidden gem in the middle of child okeford. Daisy cottage is a quaint one bedroom cottage with everything you need for a great stay. We returned from Shaftesbury early evening so decided to pop into The Bakers Arms. What a lovely little pub. Full of friendliness made us feel very welcome immediately. The landlord and landlady (owners) where lovely and sat and chatted until the late hours(several wines later) Looking forward to visiting again in the future. The cottage is defiantly a must with its own little garden to.

The last 2 nasty reviews are phony, if you look back at their history, they have both given snotty reviews of the same places at the same time! Great pub in the heart of the Blackmore Vale. Full of real Dorset characters, hard working honest folk that would help you out in a heart beat. A friendly, warm & welcoming pub with great beers and a pool table!!

What a wonderful place. A real pub in the middle of an idealic village. This is exactly what a pub should be, Super helpful & friendly staff Found the locals in there to be very friendly too Highly recommended !! And did I mention, a great pint of Guinness too

What a shame! The ownership of this pub has changed and it is not the same place. Whereas there was fantastic food, friendly people and a great atmosphere, there is now NO FOOD, loud people and lots of profanities being thrown around the bar. Oh, and the 'lovely garden' and 'five star cottage' were brought up to standard by the previous landlord and landlady - I doubt they will be maintained as such. All of my previous reviews of this pub have been positive, with clear recommendation to make the effort to get to it. Now I can't highlight any positives, only negatives and certainly can't recommend the place. However, if you want a 'drinking' pub, with loud profanity and cackling harridans, it just might suit. But don't be fooled by the previous reviews (the 5 star ones) - they were for a very different establishment.

The Baker Arms serves by far and away the best food in the area, by a wide margin!! We've been sampling the local food destinations around and about for just over a year, and the Baker Arms never fails to deliver a great experience. Menu is always interesting - standard pub grub of course (fish & chips, burgers) but with a gourmet touch. And the specials are fine dining indeed: ingredients, taste, presentation, making a memorable meal. And the atmosphere is perfect: part local pub, so real people are at the bar - often with their rather special well behaved dogs; and part elegantly simple dining area - with excellent friendly service from a family who own the pub and love their food. Don't miss.

Visiting the area for a get away we came across this lovely pub. The menu looked fab so we popped Along with our two dogs. A lovely traditional pub with two delightful ladies in the bar/kitchen.
