Staff here were brilliant, Rachel and Georgia were on duty and although they were very busy they kept the tables clear and gave their customers a great service - they were constantly busy :)

We came here for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. A very quaint pub that does proper food properly. I came with my husband and we both had the roast beef. A massive win that the gravy was delish and that the roast came with cauliflower cheese. We shared the cheeseboard after and the Devon Blue was our favourite. The pub feels like a true locals pub, nestled in a deep Devon town. It’s a no “frills attached” pub that is well run, well kept and you are definitely well looked after here.

What great food and service here. Sarah gives such a warm welcome and the serving staff are friendly and attentive. The food is on another level. Whipped goats cheese crostini with candid walnuts and beetroot, was superb as was the curried cauliflower arancini with curried mayo. Then followed by ricotta and spinach ravioli with asparagus, Parmesan crisps and a wonderful sauce. The battered hake and chips beautifully cooked. I’m now a lover of chips but these were on a different level. I don’t normally like minted peas but boy were these great. This is a great gastro pub and we love going there.

Called in on a busy Saturday morning on the way to Cornwall. The place was lovely. The breakfast however was disappointing. We ordered a small breakfast - £8.99 and were surprised that we had to choose bacon OR sausage (couldn't have both). Also, the egg was put on top of the toast which seemed a bit odd. We've certainly had bigger and better breakfast for that price. However, the food that was on the plate was cooked well and tasted okay.
