We had family visiting and had a table for six on the covered patio which is now lit and heated. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Short blackboard menu but with good varied choice. We all had something different and everyone one proclaimed that their dish was delicious. Would highly recommend.

My husband visited a music gathering on the neighbouring camp site . This pub owes him money for the meals they were meant to provide for him! He arrived this weekend only to find that there was no food. No one to speak to about this and no money refunded! Shocking. He had no food available all weekend so was very hungry on return. We will be taking advice on this and getting our money back. This pub is making a lot of money out of people and not providing the service they say they will do. Shocking! I am not happy.

I am not sure what was the worst thing about this place? First impressions were OK, just OK but not too bad. Menu looked good especially as there were a few options for veggies as well as the usual meat heads, not a surprise given that it is next door to a meat farm shop. Service was luke warm, not much of a greeting, but we got the menus quickly. Ordered a meat based breakfast for one diner and was going to order the veggie equivalent until I saw smashed avo on sour dough with poached eggs - one of my favorites. That sealed the deal. Plus two large americano coffees - black no sugar. Once breakfast had arrived we were pretty much ignored. The 'restaurant' was quiet another couple in for coffee and a lady on her own. Not exactly busy. The waitress found plenty of time to be on her phone though. Sadly the coffee was bitter, sour and not very nice - disappointing - but it is often the coffee that lets these places down. It tasted stale. But my breakfast was dire and the meaty one was greasy and just OK. Not once did the waitress make eye contact or check on us or our food. Maybe that should have been a red flag. Having pushed the dried, tasteless avo around the plate, tried to eat the sourdough that resembled white bread without a hint of sour, and cut into one snotty runny poached egg and another that was rock solid, I gave up. I waited and waited. In the end I took the massacred breakfast to the counter and put it down. Still the waitress didn't meet my eye. She did acknowledge that I brought my plate to the counter, with a thank you, and then proceeded to ring it all up at the till. As I wasn't ready to pay and had actually returned the horrible/dry breakfast she simply comped it. That would be fine, but it was my first meal of the day. There was no apology or offer to get me something else, no customer care. I got a glass of water and returned to our table. We settled the bill, nearly £30 for one mediocre breakfast and two horrible coffees. No one seemed bothered. Looking at past reviews I can see other complaints about the sour dough and avo. Wish I'd read the reviews first and not wasted money here. Won't be back.

The food was well presented and very tasty, however, there was only one vegetarian choice on the menu which was a veggie burger. The website menu showed more than this so it was disappointing to find that this was all I could have. Some meals were served on a wooden platter which was fine for me but some of our party requested plates as they didn’t like this idea. There was plenty of choice for meat/fish eaters and gluten free options also available. Just wish there had been an alternative to the burger.
