The best restaurants in Rode and Norton St Philip Mendip South West

We had a great lunch on Saturday with family, including our 4 year old daughter. The staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was delicious! They’d only just recovered from a power cut and still had no signal but handled it calmly & professionally. The decor is really pretty and cosy too. We would absolutely recommend and will be back next time we visit :-)

We had two lovely meals here whilst staying in the village. Everyone was very friendly. The Sunday roast was one of the best we have had and the homemade icecream was to die for. You do need to book because they get very busy.

He sido visitante frecuente en el café Farleigh Road durante más años de los que recuerdo, y soy un usuario habitual que me visita unas 3 o 4 veces al mes así que, con Flourish a cargo, ¿es diferente? El edificio es más grande, el aparcamiento es mejor y más fácil de navegar, el restaurante es más grande, y el personal sigue siendo tan excelente como siempre. La comida siempre es buena con porciones de buen tamaño y los precios, así como por cualquier lugar han subido. Al igual que con todos los restaurantes sabemos que esto tiene que suceder, pero no se sienta tentado a empujar mucho más alto. Ten cuidado con lo que deseas. La nueva ‘Flourish card’ es una herramienta útil para conseguir ofertas en alimentación (también se puede utilizar en la tienda) pero aquí digo que no está muy bien explicada por lo que sugiero a Flourish que consigas que te hagan unos flyers para dejar sobre la mesa/llevar ya que tanto tú como el cliente se beneficiarán. Sé cómo usar la tarjeta. Muchos no. En resumen, entonces un gran lugar para comer y reunirse y sí, no va a complacer a toda la gente todo el tiempo como algún anhelo de la 'vieja cafetería', pero el progreso sigue adelante, así que por favor Flourish mantener ese excelente personal amable y la calidad de su comida como la mayoría de nosotros parece gustar mucho. Un café recomendado entonces!

Recently reopened, so all menus on websites are wrong still waiting on previous owners to close the web page and the online booking as the new owners only take phone booking and walk ins. All welcome very doggie friendly. Relaxed friendly pub with pub meals

Excelente comida, excelente personal atento, edificio fantástico. Merece cada elogio que recibe. Experiencia perfecta.

Previously I had come for Sunday Roast and found that they had been both generous in quantity, and in terms of the ingredients high quality. However, more recently we visited and found that the quality had deteriorated and the roasts definitely felt like they had shrinked. In particular both the lamb and beef were far more fatty than previously with quite a bit of gristle and inedible parts. The veg had not been cooked particularly well and nothing sang on the plate. I couldn’t find any mint sauce even though that was promised with the roast lamb. The meals themselves were also not hot - which is a bug bear of many I am sure. I also think it is quite cheeky to not serve starters with some bread when they clearly need some - and they are nearly £10. On the plus side the service was good throughout. All in all I probably wouldn’t come back to eat, which is a pity because the pub is situated in a lovely spot - but you never want to be feel like a place is taking the mickey…

Un sábado por la noche pasé a tomar una taza después de un largo paseo, ya que mi autobús a casa no debía hacerlo hasta dentro de una hora. Desafortunadamente, hubo un grupo de seguidores del club de rugby Bath Rugby que estaban bastante borrachos (tanto hombres como mujeres) y extremadamente ruidosos. Algunos de ellos empezaron a hacerme preguntas, terminé saliendo del pub y esperando mi autobús en el frío y en la oscuridad. Consideré cruzar la calle para probar el otro pub que está en un edificio muy antiguo, pero también estaba bastante ocupado y tenía miedo de encontrar el mismo problema. Es molesto cómo los pubs no son lugares acogedores para mujeres solteras, especialmente si no están bebiendo alcohol! Incluso en las grandes ciudades como Bristol, la mayoría de las cafeterías cierran a las 6 pm o 7 pm, ¡así que no tienes otra opción que ir a un pub si quieres una bebida caliente después de esa hora!
