The best restaurants in Mayfield Wealden South East

We met up with friends for lunch and drove a distance as the food has always been fabulous in the multiple times we have been here before this year. But I wonder if the chef has changed. For the past two occasions (November and December) the food just was not the same standard - a let down. I have found with other pub restaurants that is the issue-they can't hold on to the great chefs that mark their unique selling point. And the food at Middle House used to be so good -it really is not any more -and that goes for everything from the starters to the fish and chips to the roasts and the puds. Location and service are always wonderful however.

Had the most amazing Sunday roast at The Rose & Crown. The staff are lovely, so welcoming, you feel like part of the family! The food was delicious, meat was cooked to perfection & there was so many lovely veggies. We managed to squeeze in a berry crumble to finish off our meal. Log fires, great food & fantastic welcome, what's not to love about this pub!

We had a very special afternoon tea for a birthday celebration and the food and service was wonderful. Thank you We even left with take away boxes which was a real treat for later!
