Fabulous fish & chips. Cooked beautifully and served in the little restaurant in front of the cooking range. We've been a few times now, and usually call in on our visits to Preston. Hoghton is about 3 miles South of said city. The food is always piping hot, the fish fried to perfection and the chips delicious with no evidence of fat or oil. Even the mushy peas beat all others. I've eaten F&C all over this land, even in such celebrated places as Whitby's "Magpie", and have never tasted any like Gregson Lane's. It's run by a brother and sister, who are the most pleasant chippy owners I've ever encountered. Oh, and their prices are VERY reasonable!

We had an excellent meal and the service was 5*. My only comment is around the lighting temperature in the new extension part of the restaurant. The temperature of the lighting is quite cool, unlike the older parts of the pub, which, in my opinion, compromises the overall ambiance. Switch to a warmer bulb in this area and it would be lovely!

Really lovely restaurant that serves really good food. We were a group of 7, but the food came pretty quick and was absolutely fantastic and the staff were really lovely and accommodating. We plan to come back in the near future. It's not crazy prices, and the food is really top notch and not in small portions.

Just returned from evening meal with family (7 Oct). 2 of us chose pork platter (special menu) which I anticipated to be a generous offering of pork fillet, sausage roll and black pudding - priced at £22. How disappointing- 2 pieces of mouth size fillets, a third of a sausage roll and a thin splattering of black pudding in the potato Rosti. It tasted nice and was well presented but feel totally ripped off with the meagre offering, I did inform a young waitress of my disappointment and asked her to relay my message to the chef. No apology, no feedback, nothing. We have had numerous family meals over many years and this was clearly sub-standard. The 3 other diners enjoyed their meals to provide balance. Perhaps the management team can consider and respond accordingly?

When you arrive at a Village Pub on a Monday night and the car park is full and the restaurant bustling with customers you know there's a reason why. No blaring loud music, no televisions belting out sporting events but lots of tables all full of customers enjoying an awesome variety of food chosen from the menus. You have a choice of an early market menu before 5pm, 10 different dishes for £10 menu or the A la Carte menu. We all had the same starters of mushrooms on bruschetta with crispy poached egg. All devoured and plates cleaned. For main course a very generous rump steak cooked to perfection, a gammon chop again very tasty, a lovely hearty steak & mushroom pudding and fish & chips. All served with rustic chips, crispy but very fluffy. We weren't to be beaten and 3 of us enjoyed banana cheesecake with ice-cream plus 1 enjoyed ice-cream only. Service, presentation, value for money and atmosphere was excellent. A very special mention for Eva who looked after us impeccably.

We were at a family wedding here yesterday. The venue, the food but particularly the service & the staff attitude and attentiveness were absolutely perfect 😍 I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of a wedding venue. It couldn't have been better 😊
