Amazing food. Probably the best pub food I can remember. Really good and varied menu. Staff always a pleasure too and a lovely setting.

My sister and I were on holiday in Preston and happened to search places to eat and seen The Cavendish Arms. I had the chicken supreme and I can honestly say the sauce was the best sauce I have ever tasted. My sister had the duck with homemade fries. I had Dulphonise potatoes they were also amazing. I cannot wait to go back the next time we are In the area. Keep up the fantastic work.

Lovely food not cheap but quality..great service the guy who served us was a professional little out of the way but you have to seek these things out

Second time visiting and once again it was fantastic. Was busy for a Friday night but we did not feel rushed at any point. It's a wonderful hidden gem in Chorley.

Just popped in after a nights climb at Denham Quarry. Just the one then home.

Absolutely love it here .. great food, lovely staff and gorgeous setting (inside and out). We celebrated my husbands 60th and they happily assisted with the balloons and cake I dropped off (beforehand) Highly recommended

Wonderful evening Food was amazing

We enjoyed three courses at The Cavendish - and all were excellent. Highlight starter was 'three little piggies with the Quails egg' - super tasty, unusual and beautifully presented. Cask ales available. Our server was a lovely, smiley young girl. All in all a lovely meal and we will be returning.

A lovely local pub. Went with my sister and mum for a belated birthday treat. Have been a few times and the food and service is always 100%. Would recommend booking a table as it is a popular venue and can get busy. I had the pork belly for my main and would highly recommend.

Arrived for the time of our booking, staff were very friendly and attentive. We browsed the menu and chose our meals, the food was very tasty and plentiful. Would 💯 recommend.

Fabulous lunch today with friends. We chose from the Monday madness menu. 10 dishes all £10. Great choices and beautifully cooked would highly recommend.

Efficient, friendly service in lovely, clean surroundings. The Steak & Ale Pie was amazing! Managed to squeeze in chocolate fudge cake and ice cream too, which was equally delicious. 😋

Came for a friends birthday so had preordered our meal. Got the shared platter to start which was incredible. Everything was gorgeous and plenty of food for a fair price. I had the cheese pie for main. Wasn’t overly keen on the ‘chips’ which were more like roast potatoes so would probably change to fries next time and I did swap the beans for gravy but the pie was delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back to try more dishes

Fantastic meal. Starter sharer board and thai fish cakes were lovely. Cheese pie was a proper pie (no fake pie top only). Fish chips was lovely and fresh with a light batter and duck was cooked perfectly. The burger was a little overdone for our liking and the blue cheese could have been stronger. Overall a great meal though.

We booked a big party table and all our food was spot on service was amazing as usual and we all really enjoyed our food wouldn’t recommended enough!!

Having been many times before and been very happy, last Saturday was a different experience. Table not ready when we arrived, waitress half then did it, no glasses apart from one dirty one which she left. Had to ask for water 3 times, eventually came, no glasses , another 3 requests before glasses came. Really felt they didn’t want to be there. Food came, all ok apart one cheese and onion pie, baked beans put on top of pie instead of separate pot which other pies had, meaning pastry soggy. Was with friends so didn’t want to make fuss but having finished meal asked for shandy, waited 15 mins then gave up, paid and left. Such a shame, sure a one off but training definitely needed in customer service.

The food, service, location. 5 star! Always in search of the best steak & ale pie and to date (its been a pub on a loch in Scotland but I don't have time to look it up) Try and you will see. No filler "extras" and quality. Our #1 rated.

It’s a quirky old interior in a nice location. The food is reasonable though not amazing. The challenge we’ve had on 2 separate occasions is the service is SLOW. Not offered drinks within 10 mins on arrival, 3 starters took about 45 mins, 3 kids meals an hour (and after adult starters, having asked for kids to come with starters), mains about an hour and 20 minutes. Queried the delays and informed ‘we’re just busy’, yet tables not full? Service staff look like they take the brunt of a slow kitchen service and subsequent customer comments, and look a bit frustrated, often biding time cleaning cutlery and waiting for bar to service drinks. It’s not the service staff issue. The manager is accountable and should be all over front of house and kitchen service and is clearly not present or switched on enough to run a tight ship (prompt and consistent food during dinner service). I won’t go again or recommend as I’d fear embarrassing my friends with slow service, which we all know is frustrating and makes you wonder what an earth is going on behind the scenes…

Food was delicious as always, main server was very good with our young daughter who is under 2.

Was here for Christmas dinner with the family and all three courses were fantastic and the staff were great, plus a lovely pint of real ale 🍺 will definitely be booking for next year 👌

Absolutely fantastic. Went here for lunch on Xmas eve. Was a limited menu but plenty of choices. Went for the sharing platter and it was delicious. Plenty of food, well presented and very very tasty. Foolishly we then both went for the steak & ale pie, chips, peas & gravy. Again, absolutely delicious but due to the size and quality of the starter we struggled to finish. I hate leaving food, especially super tasty food, but we were just stuffed. The service was excellent and were made to feel welcome like always. Will be returning in the new year for sure.

Sat down for our meal and ordered drinks which came fairly quickly - then we were politely asked if we wouldn’t mind moving to the older part of the building (someone had a medical issue and couldn’t manage the step) - we were happy to do so and were told that our drinks would be removed from the bill. Food came and was lovely ☺️ When the bill came, my dining partner had her coke removed; I paid in full for my wine (not even a discount 🤷🏻‍♀️) didn’t make a fuss as it was busy……. shame as it would have been a really good experience

Excellent food, service and atmosphere.

Party of 5 Starters Oriental sharing platter, Garlic bread and Creamy mushrooms - all were amazing Mains 2 x ham hock sandwiches - very thick and crunchy baguette, made it difficult to eat. Also the amount of ham was minimal. Moroccan lamb pizza - tasty but very spicy. Steak and mushroom pudding - lovely Beef stroganoff - very tasty but beef was quite fatty.

Nice calm relaxing environment for a lovely meal.

Excellent meal - all 6 of us had the Christmas menu and the food was prepared to a high standard and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Once again, excellent service and delicious food in comfortable surroundings. The menu is extensive and varied, currently including an 2 or 3 course Christmas meal selection, and all reasonably priced.

Lovely Christmas meal with a group of 9. Excellent food and service.

I recommend the sharing platter was well worth the money. My children had the Tapas they enjoyed having different foods to try.

We were very disappointed with our visit and felt second class having been directed to a poky cold room at the front of the pub which was in essence a walk through to the kitchen and the place where staff ate their food. We had booked but even though we asked for an alternative table, explaining it was chilly and away from everyone else,we were told no, the place was fully booked. They should have added that we were the ones who drew the short straw. Our meals did a circuit of the main area and one was given to another diner before the error was picked up and they arrived on our table. We felt neglected. Food itself wasn't bad. Won't be rushing back. Atmosphere where we were sitting was zero.

Fabulous food, my husband hasn't stopped raving about the seafood pasta - the best he has ever had. The remainder of our group was delighted with their choices of food. Service friendly and attentive. The only one thing we noted was that the room we were in, on our own, felt in some way as if we were there for a conference, 😂 We had a thoroughly good catch up with family and a relaxing lunch. Thanks to all.

The staff were wonderful and friendly but, unfortunately, someone had forgotten to put in our order so we waited a long time for our meal to arrive. The manager was extremely apologetic so all was forgiven as the Sunday lunch was absolutely excellent. We had the turkey and roast beef which could not be faulted. We shall definitely return and recommend The Cavendish to friends.

Booked for a friend who is recovering from a serious illness. I requested a quiet spot not overcrowded or loud as she doesnt cope with loud noise levels. The table was perfect soft music and only another couple at the other end of one of their many little rooms. The place is very pleasantly decorated clean and bright. The food was excellent along with the service. Highly recommended

Excellent meal with exemplary service

I have lived in the area for 6 years and the first time I went with friends it was very good. Within the last 3 years it has steadily gone downhill. Is it now owned by someone else? Saturday is awful. the food and staff were not up to par. Different chef perhaps? presentation of food is also not good. Shame because it is a really nice pub on a great location. 3 times in a row has been bad, so I need to find somewhere else within 2to3 miles. So sorry this is not my usual thing to complain.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere, we really enjoyed our visit it’s a hidden gem, the best pub food we’ve ever had.

We had an excellent meal and the service was 5*. My only comment is around the lighting temperature in the new extension part of the restaurant. The temperature of the lighting is quite cool, unlike the older parts of the pub, which, in my opinion, compromises the overall ambiance. Switch to a warmer bulb in this area and it would be lovely!

We came to the Cavendish to try the Steak Night menu. It was excellent value but sadly the requested 'rare' steak came'medium'. It was very tasty nevertheless.

We've eaten here a few times, The Cavendish Arms is a lovely restaurant/pub, the staff are friendly & helpful and the food is absolutely delicious, can thoroughly recommend!

Beautiful setting. My steak would have been nicer chargrilled and the cauliflower cheese although tasted nice would have been lovely in cheese sauce and not dried up. My friends roast beef dinner really wasn't very good. We had to ask for a steak knife as a normal one couldn't cut it, and it was chewy. We didn't recognise the yorkshire pudding as it looked like something out of the jungle and the replacement looked like the opposite foot. Seriously though. The waiter started moving tables in front of 2 ladies sat in the corner whilst they were still seated. That made me uncomfortable. My friend paid the bill whilst I found and asked the manager did he know what this picture was? I told him they are being continued to be served!!. He offered us a drink which we declined and went to the kitchen to tell the staff to make some more. He did say he would look after us if we went back and thanked us. After all, your only as good as your front line staff and food!!
