The best restaurants in Moreton and Fyfield Epping Forest East of England

I’ve been to The White Hart for a lunch with a friend! Such a lovely place and the food was great! I had a vegetarian burger and chips, so good!

Our son and his gf took both me and my husband out for our joint birthdays and from when we arrived, we were made very welcome. Ameretto sours all round, tasty. Starters- mushroom parfait, arancini, focaccia & olives. Our mains, wagyu beef, chestnut stuffed chicken, Dover sole & the best steak & ale pie ever. Desserts of rhubarb & raspberry pana cotta (mine & blinking lovely), fudge brownie, cheesecake & chocolate cremeau. The service was extremely good and attentive without being intrusive. A restaurant that we would happily return to. Would recommend to try at least once, but certainly a shame not to try. Well deserved 5*

Always excellent food wether you eat in or have takeaway. Friendly staff who are attentive but not hovering round the table all the time.

Our friends booked a table today to take us for Sunday lunch. The roasts and puddings were delicious, and we were glad we didn’t have a starter as we are all stuffed!! 😋 the staff and the service was fantastic! Lovely quiet country pub in beautiful settings. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Overdue review from various visits from the back end of 2024. Birthdays in August x 2 Works party in December Boxing Day lunch I have written many reviews on my thread for the Chequers over the years still our favourite eating establishment in the area. Will keep this short and sweet. From the moment you enter the premises you are met by a warm and friendly smile normally Julie who we have know there for twenty years. Pre meal drinks at the bar are always served very professionally. We like to sit in restaurant area, the waiting staff are trained to highest level better than many decent London restaurants, if you ever wanting for anything you only have to look up and someone is with you. The food choice is extensive, always comes out perfectly cooked and well presented at the same time if you are a table of two or ten. The wine list is great and the waiters/waitresses are well trained on how to serve it, if you order the wine of the nice side of the page you get lovely large glasses. As previously mentioned in my reviews on the Chequers, I always find this restaurant extremely good value for money and always feel happy to pay the bill, people on here moan about the price of fillet steak for example ( our favourite) in London you will struggle to find one with the trimmings for under £100 for context! Keep up the great work see you early 2025. Thank you.

We have just waited two hours for a delivery .past the point of wanting to eat now..never again. Never had this before a complete waist of money

We’ve been twice and loved it both times. First time was inside for cocktails and dinner. Second time was drinks outside in beer garden. Both times we had our mini schnauzer Leo and it’s super dog friendly (just can’t sit in main restaurant) Love the atmosphere- great vibe both times with great service and very welcoming. The food was lovely but a little on the expensive side. I wouldn’t rush back for the food but the atmosphere and service will bring us back- would come more if it wasn’t so expensive.

Breakfast was nice but overpriced. You are charged a supplement fee if you make small changes such as asking for different type of bread from the item on the menu but you are not informed that there will be a charge until you come to pay. Staff in the restaurant are borderline polite but customer service was pretty much non existent. Not welcoming on arrival. Handed two menus and pointed in the direction of the table. No concern whether everything was OK or if we needed anything. Stood waiting on the way out waiting to pay while staff continued their conversation. Enjoyed the meal but wouldn't return again unfortunately.
