This place has to be the best Sunday lunch I have had out. Food Spot on and better than a home cooked roast. Offering all the trimmings you could ask for! Service was fantastic and quick, drinks spot on and checked on frequently yet not too much during a meal.

The food was lovely. No complaints at all but the service was incredibly poor. Only 2 of us and we was in there for nearly 2 hours. Completely felt like we’d been forgotten about even though we was seated in the bar area where they run the food and there’s always staff visible. After suggesting our starter arrived late, about 35 minutes after we sat down, we then see a couple who walked in after us served dinner first and we then waited another half hour and finally got dinner about 1hr 15 after sitting down. The restaurant knew something went wrong as we had our starters/drinks taken off the bill which was a nice gesture but just an okay bit of service would’ve made everything so much more enjoyable. Really poor and you have to feel for the kitchen staff who are being let down. We thought it was slightly over priced as well.

My first visit here and hopefully not my last! Really lovely staff who look after you without being all over you, serving fantastic food in a great setting. If you want a relaxed more pub than restaurant atmosphere but still want better than gastro-pub food then this is the place for you! The inside has a great feel to it with quirky interior design and there is plenty of seating in their lovely outside area also. It was a lovely sunny day when we were there and it was perfect, but I can imagine feeling very cosy in here in the winter too. I would happily recommend a visit to the Dog & Pickle.

Three of us for lunch. It took a good 35 minutes for our drinks and snacks to arrive from our rather brusque waiter, who referred to me as mate and my wife darlin. No starters ordered except the snacks .Another 25 minutes for our main course from the limited basically pub food menu. The only fish dish - monkfish was OK as was the pasta dish, nothing to get excited about and certainly underwhelming given the prices, Two ice cream deserts, one sticky toffee, again just OK. These together with 3 glasses of white and one desert wine ,came to an eye opening £205. To summarise nothing more than decent pub food , poor service, expensive and poor value. The setting is up market pub like with blingy clients! I think my 2 stars are being generous.

Came here for Sunday lunch which was amazing but at a price it is so expensive for what it is was ,we had the sharing Sunday lunch and added the lamb, I did expect more than four slices for £16 . For desert I had the cheese cake which was the size of a biscuit and was £10. On the basis I felt a little ripped off I would not return which is a shame as a lovely pub and in a beautiful little village.

We have heard good things and so came to find out what it was all about .. lovely environment and atmosphere.. we tried a cross section from nibbles starters mains and desserts .. , loved the Arrancini ,crispy pork and olives , a little underwhelmed by the Scallop starter for the price one large scallop would have done it justice , loved the beef cheek tacos . Lamb roast was first rate and we enjoyed the halibut which was imaginative . The puddings went the extra mile especially the sticky toffee with brandy snap and ice cream . One of us had a food intolerance and this was dealt with very professionally. The service was attentive but subject to the following. Nb . We were surprised to be addressed as darlin without the g and lovelies .. we are mature people not residents of a care home !

Food was very well presented and tasty. Clearly freshly cooked to order. Perhaps a vegetable could be included with each main dish rather than an addition ie. Carrots with Shepherds Pie. This was our first visit to The Dog and Pickle in order to celebrate my birthday with our family. What a disappointment. The food is average but is way overpriced. The drinks are also overpriced - particularly the wine. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to have eaten in some fantastic restaurants all around the world and we dine in London on a regular basis. The Dog and Pickle is prime London West End location prices but without the quality. It is average gastropub food at best. We will not be returning and have told our friends not to bother going either.

This is just a lovely little spot. Perfect for a chilled date night as the atmosphere is just super cosy and the decor is super pretty. As for the food I was actually very impressed, I went for the braised beef cheek with creamy mash and it was delicious. Full of flavour, perfectly cooked, didn’t take long to come out either. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely too although I was quite stuffed by the time I got around to dessert. Price wise I’d say normal- obviously a little more than your standard pub but the quality justified it I believe. I’d love to come back here and try the Sunday roast, or just visit in the summer time when the sun is shining. 100% recommend.

On arriving we noted that the decor and ambience were great. Also our starters: Arancini and a pate were delicious, really heightening our expectations for our mains. Sadly we were disappointed. The chips were soggy, the fish batter heavy and not crisp. My shepherd pie was dry ( not helped by the crispy things on the top), and it was very under seasoned. I didn’t finish it. We’ve always eaten well here before so I’m not sure if this is a blip or a trend?

Been hearing good things so decided to give it a try. Nice large pub in small village a few miles down a country lane. Impressive outside area that they are expanding, think it will look great for the summer. Decor is quite plush while retaining the old pub feel, atmosphere quite busy with lots of bar action with cocktails and the like. Service I can’t fault, excellent. When looking at menu I was surprised at the prices, fish n chips £24 and most other mains 24-35. and the steaks just unrealistic. Then we saw the set menus which offer much better value albeit slightly less choice. Our starter, mains and desert were very nice and at less than £10 each we were happy even with a side of small carrots at £7 Will i return, yes definitely and hope the set menu is still around.

We’ve been coming to the Dog & Pickle since it opened and can honestly say that it delivers 5⭐️ food and service every time. We would generally visit lunchtimes and go for the set lunch which is superb and great value. Sometimes we would go for the Cote De Boeuf which is on another level. Cooked to perfection. However, it’s the friendly service from the restaurant staff and bar staff that sets this place apart from other local venues. Always friendly. Professional. And lovely. A few friends have been to the Dog & Pickle (D&P) and couldn’t recommend it enough. We were lucky to get in on a Saturday night, but the D&P is a very popular restaurant, so make sure to book well in advance. We made our way, down country lanes, to the small village of Moreton and on entry, we were taken away with the lovely setting of the D&P. As you drive up to the car park, there is a huge outside seating area, alight with twinkly fairy lights – so pretty. We had a 6pm sitting. We arrived at 5.30pm. There is a small bar, on entry, that seats around 10 people (and where dogs are allowed), but what a lovely bar it is – so pretty, with hops hanging over the bar, more twinkle lights, artifacts and ‘funky’ items. They also take bookings for the small bar – the seating is high stools and chairs. We were greeted by Gemma, a very enthusiastic and happy young lady, who made us feel very welcome indeed. On speaking, it’s Gemma’s brother’s restaurant, so her heart and soul is definitely into making the restaurant a very likeable one! Always great to be greeted with a smile. We were lead to a lovely table and you can't help but look around at all the different lamps and pictures and items. Adorable! From the offset, you could tell how well the staff had been trained; very professional indeed. Our overall service was fabulous, could not fault it. I wish every restaurant was run as efficiently and, again ..... professionally! For us the menu was difficult! Difficult in that everything sounded so delicious and we took a while choosing. I could have quite easily chosen everything off the menu! But, I finally opted for the Tuna Tataki, which was absolutely delicious. My husband went for the Scallops – equally as delicious. For mains, and I would say I’m not normally a pork fan, but when I saw the Iberico Pork being dished up, I couldn’t resist. So, Iberico Pork it was for me. The accompaniments were scrumptious (the celeriac puree was silky smooth). I must say that I am so glad I didn’t order any sides! I was presented with two fair-sized pork steaks – not the mamsy-pamsy portions some restaurants dish up! My husband went for the New York Strip (with a choice of peppercorn sauce) and he couldn’t but resist on ordering a side of fat chips, which went down a treat. Both of our mains were fantastic. The meat was melt-in-the-mouth! Did we have room for a pudding? Not really, but they all looked so mouth-watering. We were going to share the Banana Parfait Rum Sponge, but I fancied the Chocolate Cremeaux with Peanut Butter Ice Cream. Although feeling rather full, we ate everything – could not leave a thing – too delicious! The puddings were the best we have tasted in a long long time! For me, it’s the little things that make a restaurant so oustanding. I’d booked the D&P as a treat for my husband’s birthday and on entry, we were given a little envelope, with a cute card inside. Great quality stationery too! So, my husband was given a free drink, which was a nice touch! Together with the delicious Malbec we had selected, we were absolutely over the moon with having chosen the D&P. It really was great and we can’t wait to return. Oh, and the cocktails, you’re in for a treat if you order one – lots of fun! Friends have been for the Sunday roast and everyone has said how good it is. The ‘sharing roasts’ sound wonderful, so we’ll definitely be back. Saying that, they seem to be booked up for a good couple of months, so we’ll be visiting for dinner (again), before we get for that roast, I’m sure. The restaurant really is special, in every way. So pretty and charming and smart. Oh, and there’s a bigger space towards the back of the restaurant that seats bigger parties. And, for those of you who are interested, the toilets are on the ground floor, same as the restaurant, so no walking up or down stairs! Thank you to the brilliant chefs, the fantastic staff, and to Gemma for making us feel so welcome. Loved every minute. No wonder you are always booked up!

Second time visiting The Dog & pickle. My friend and i both had the scallop starter, thought the pineapple worked well with the scallops but thought the scallops could have been bigger and executed a bit better, saying that i thought it was a 7-10. To follow i had the braised beef cheeks, pickled carrots, carrot puree, along with the truffle & parmesan mash potato. I mean how can you have braised beef and not have mash! Thoughts.... a very strong 9-10 such a winner! Will defo be revisiting again!

Booked sept 23 for a feb 24 Sunday birthday lunch with two unpopular time slots - 12.15 or 6pm. Warned on arrival by a 2 hour time slot before we even looked at the menu. Food and drinks were expensive for what it was and bill was handed over dead on 2.15 without even asking. £350 later, we felt a bit shell shocked at the deadline. This is one of the most beautiful pubs I have ever been too. However………Despite our table of 4 not drinking more than one alcoholic drink each, with just 2 courses we racked up a bill of £100 per head…..this would have been fine in a city of London restaurant with significant overheads however we were in the middle of the countryside and despite the food being ok, it was not terrific. We then thought that for that price perhaps we might receive great service, but after declining dessert as we were full, we were told that the next guests were already waiting for the table (and therefore I imagine we would have had to have taken dessert in the bar?). We also didn’t like that during our main course, the waiting staff made the point of letting us know that there was another sitting due, by stacking all of their fresh crockery on the table next to us ready to change the table. We didn’t feel valued, we felt underwhelmed (average food at extraordinary prices) and (as it was cold outside and the heating is not very effective) very cold. We will not return.

we came yesterday as I have been wanting to try this restaurant for ages. The staff were really friendly and polite, and restaurant is also decorated beautifully. We ordered 2 roasts and 3 sides, and it was the nicest roast we have had out, we don't typically have roasts at restaurants because nothing can compare to my husbands homecooked roast. Having said that this restaurant exceeded our expectations and everything was so yummy! it is pricey, however if you want the good quality meat then the price has to reflect that, and the meat was soft and melt in the mouth (I had the beef) we shared a dessert after which was also incredibly yummy! we will 100% be returning.

After booking The Dog & Pickle, Essex months ago, unfortunately we would not recommend. The food was really good, the service was okay, the brunette lady owner was abrupt and rude. After my dad having a restaurant for most of my life, the customer service was appalling, if you are from TOWIE however the service and attentiveness of the staff is the opposite. We happened to have Tommy, Georgia, Mike Hassini from TOWIE with his girlfriend next to us. Some of their party arrived before us, had nibbles brought out upon their arrival. Although we had ordered our mains first and them significantly after us, their mains followed ours. They were allowed to order off a separate menu for desert and surprise their desert came before ours. The icing on the cake was after we paid our bill of close to £350, we were politely asked to move to another table in the bar area for the next sitting. Strangely the TOWIE table remained seated, the main waitress argued with my partner in the bar area and protested there was no preferential treatment. My partner went outside, the waitress then continued to argue her point with myself and friend, we were told there was no possible room upon their table for the table waiting, the area was a large booth capable of sitting 5/6 people. We were also then reproached to be told they will be leaving at 15:30. After this the potential owner continued to walk past us, side eyeing and giving us such dirty looks. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant in my life. I was eager to leave after this. My partner ordered a whiskey after this ordeal, we were not given a bill and assumed this was on the house due to the situation. This was not the case, we left and were chased into the beer garden by said owner. Who again continued to protest nobody is treated any differently, my partner calmly and politely argued back and tried to explain why we felt so aggrieved by the treatment we had received and told us three times if we were that dissatisfied to never come back! The customer service from management was shocking, rather than have a bad review after the customers were clearly not impressed was that argument really needed? I told the lady how rude she was and made me feel like I wanted to leave and her customer service was appalling. She took her payment and walked back in and told us never to return if we didn’t like the treatment. Please feel free to share as this service was appalling and we feel the management should be shown up for their ‘successful’ restaurant.

Best roast and cocktails in Essex! This was our 3rd visit to the restaurant and we were not disappointed. We visited midweek in December for lunch to make the most of the set menu and had the most amazing lunch. The sharing roast dinner platter was incredible with so much variety and everything from pigs in blankets to homemade stuffing and Yorkshire puddings. The highlight of our visit were the incredible cocktails made my Donaldo and Tobias! Aside from the extensive list of cocktails on the menu, it was no trouble for them to make me a bespoke cocktail which was absolutely delicious. We cannot wait to return in the new year!!!

Planning the final day of celebrations for my husbands birthday, we were Axe throwing in Brentwood and needed to find somewhere for a special meal that was also Dog Friendly. I discovered the Dog and Pickle through instagram, and staff were excellent in accommodating our needs. I wouldn't recommend just rocking up with a dog, because the bar area is quite small, so book in advance. We were also a party of 5, so left a deposit of £50. My husband and I shared the Chateaubriand, whilst my in laws shared a Cote de Boeuf. My step son enjoyed the steak burger with pulled pork. He had the chicken salt chips whilst we had the vegetables, cauli cheese and roast potatoes. We all shared some bread, olives and puffed pork crackling which meant NONE of us (even my step son!) had capacity to so much as look at the dessert menu! We are fine dining poor in Essex with proximity to London, however, this place is something special. Big plus for me is that they sell an English Sparkling Wine and also that they made a point of making a fuss of my husband for his 40th (complimentary drink and a card). Also, so accommodating of our dog, and the roaring hot fire, I will definitely return! Thank you Dog and Pickle
