It’s a nice enough venue, it used to be my local. However the food experience, on this occasion was very poor. Bread and oil, ok- but odd tasting oil. Surely not Olive oil?? But….. wow, but….. the fishfinger sandwich. Just awful. So, the bread was so cold, if it wasn’t recently frozen, then why, why do you serve bread at that refrigerated temperature. The filling. One piece of the most horrific, Tesco value battered fish- not even fish fingers. Cut in two, and stuffed inside. One of my half’s of sandwich wasn’t even half covered in fish. See photo. The fish, omg, saturated in fat, and the batter basically hollow, save for a tiny bit of grey fish. See photo. When I complained that I was not willing to pay £8 for it- the server said. “Yeah we get that all the time”. (!!!!!!!). And “yeah there’s not much fish in them” (!!!!!!!) Asked what I wanted to do about it, my options were a refund, or for the chef to cook a second portion of fish to actually fill the sandwich. It arrived, again sopping in grease, and basically hollow and ominously grey inside… again see pics. Onion rings on the side - sopping in grease, I mean, turn the fryers up… Just not good enough- just unacceptable for a village pub, have pride, buy better ingredients, and do better.

After reading some not so good reviews i ordered with a little caution but i need not have worried. For a village takeaway this is pretty good. My first time here and i found the food hot, tasty, fresh, looks appealing and the portions were the same size as i would normally get at home. Yes the chow mein could use a little more seasoning but i dont see that as a negative. I had kung po chicken, egg rice and chicken chow mein. Prawn crackers are not greasy like some places. Menu is new by the looks of it and pretty extensive, some different dishes on there too. Overall i.d say this place is well worth a visit. I was very pleasantly surprised and would definately go back. They take card (orders over 18 quid i think)and cash, and reasonably priced They are open til 10.15 ish and will deliver for a small charge

While visiting family I brought my parents here for a lunch. We were seated inside, at our request, and served by a lady member of staff, but it was extremely loud due to a party of shouty women & their children. Four drinks and lunches ordered from the menu. In my opinion the menu was fairly limited if you don’t like “fancy” food. My meal, the soup of the day with scone was lovely and the rosemary fries were good too. However, my husband’s egg sandwiches were a little dry, the black pudding/sausage roll was too spicy for my Father and the chicken flatbread wasn’t to my Mother’s liking. All in all not the best lunch get-together.
