The best restaurants in Marks Tey Colchester East of England

We only ever go to the Raj (for past seven years). Tonight was the first not so great meal we’ve had. The Peshawari naan came up burnt, first time. We sent it back and second time (half way through the meal) it was the same, so we gave it a miss. The chapatis weren’t up to their usually standard. The chicken was chewy. We’ve never ever had a bad meal here. I said to the waiter (who was quite disinterested) do you have a new chef. He said yes, but I’m not entirely sure he understood what we were saying. So sad given we’ve been coming for many years. On the way out, we didn’t even get an apology for the waiter. One more try I think. If it’s not good, we won’t return.

No bs probably the best Indian I've ever eaten. We had our works due there last night. The whole experience was nothing short of perfect. Food , staff , service.

this place has just been taken over by a new owner - a new outdoor seating area is being prepared and there are plans for serving lunches - at present only drinks and snacks (cakes, biscuits) are available - the present café area is lovely (rustic with a nice friendly calming atmosphere) - my daughter and I spent a very restful hour with tea, coffee and cakes - it will be a great place to go when the weather improves - there are also plants on sale and garden services available - the ratings I have given is because the place is not yet properly established but still worth a visit

A good meal for all my family on our first visit here. Food prices are fair and portions generous. Thank you to both Amy and Livvy who served us and made our young children welcome.

Arrived on the Friday to check into our room only to be greeted by ladders, Open and exposed ceilings, This carried on throughout our 2 night stay, Woken up by the sound of drilling which again carried on throughout our stay. I wish I could upload a sound recording of the noise experienced. A truly awful stay

The best ever hash browns. Light and crispy not dripping in grease Go here! Drive through highly efficient and the order was correct!
