I really want to give this place a good review because I've visited lots of times over the years and never been disappointed; but today I have to leave an honest review and I'm sad 😔 It's always busy & booking is advisable. I've visited twice this month and it's not been up to its usual standard. I ordered decaffeinated coffee to be told they didn't have any left; and while I understand, a coffee shop that runs out of coffee is not great. The side salads used to be a good size but are now a small lettuce leaf, one slice of cucumber & a 1/4 tomato. Previously a good serving and included pepper & red onion. Coleslaw is now extra. A sausage panini had ONE sausage in it, so when cut in half, only one side had a filing! Loaded skins used to be a large jacket potato with a generous topping; now half a pototo and cleary microwaved. The toilets were not great on my last visit, quite grubby. The cakes on offer are displayed nicely under big glass cloches and I would usually take home a piece to enjoy later, but the recent offerings have not been that tempting. The business does well with a very busy outside catering side, it's possible more effort has gone into this side of the business and the cafe has suffered.

We visited on the 18th October and again on the 19th October and oh my goodness it was like 2 different restaurants. The first night was really pleasant. It was very busy so the table we wanted needed cleaning but that wasn't a problem. The nice lady behind the bar came to clean it for us. Another gentleman came over to clean the table, he looked like he might have been the chef. I wanted some more wine so he fetched it for us. He also came to check on us while eating the food. Honestly the staff couldn't do enough for us. There was a karaoke on which was a lot of fun and the atmosphere was great. The food was ok for chain food but on the service alone we decided to return the next night. Completely different experience the next night. We ordered food at 8.20pm. The menu clearly stated they serve food until 9pm. We decided to share a bowl of chicken wings as a starter. A few minutes after placing the order the waitress came over and said we don't usually serve starters after 8.30 but on this occasion we will do it for you (as though they were doing us a favour) as i previously mentioned, the menu clearly states they serve food until 9pm. It was a sharing starter however we just had a bowl of wings plonked in front of us with no side plates. We used napkins as plates. Then our main meals arrived and my father had ordered the gammon with eggs. The eggs were awful and over cooked. We caught the attention of another member of staff to ask for some more eggs only to be told everything in the kitchen had been turned off (exactly 9pm) how long exactly does it take to put a pan on the hob and fry an egg? 5 mins tops? The female waitress came over to check everything was ok, i said no not really. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Never at any point was there an offer to compensate for the poor food and the staff were rude right from ordering the food. I've never been anywhere for food and felt like i was an inconvenience to the staff just for ordering off the menu. If this had been the service we had received on the first night i can assure you we would not have returned the second night. We will not be returning again which is a shame because the staff on the first night were brilliant

Wonderful family business. Great food! Sadly I’m a coeliac, but a jacket potato is a good alternative.

Kream Jar - Dereham Wow!!!! AVOID!! We got excited to visit this store after looking at the lovely pictures and reviews online. They show people sitting at tables enjoying their waffles and milkshakes inside a restaurant area in a colourful bright space. We’d driven for 2.5hrs to get here only to be confronted with something completely opposite to that advertised!! It’s a dark poky little space with absolutely NO room to even swing a cat, there’s barely enough room for 2 people to wait for their order. It’s dark and dingy with equipment and empty cardboard packing boxes piled high on every surface. It’s obvious from those online photos that this place MAY once have been just a dessert shop with a small restaurant area with tables and chairs to eat inside - which is what we thought we were going to, but that space is now filled with more equipment to run a hot food take-away shop too. There is nowhere to eat inside at all!!! They say to take a seat while they make the waffles, but OMG once they start cooking fries and other cooked food, you can barely breathe from the smoke. We had to wait outside! We only ordered 3 waffles and waited 35 MINUTES for them! My husband waited inside and after about 20mins noticed that they were putting some in the bin, but they didn’t explain what was happening or why we were waiting SO long!! So they only appear to have ONE waffle maker and that was playing up! All I can say is that the £22 waffles were not worth the 35min wait!!
