Saturday walk with family and the dog . Lovely welcome and excellent food in a pretty pub. Always nice to return . The walks in Shirley estate are lovely and this pub makes an ideal lunch or evening meal stop . You can sit outside with a good view of the pretty village or sit inside with log burners on cold days .

Two hours wait for a takeaway! We were told they were busy and we wouldn’t get our order for an hour. After an hour and a half we called to ask if there was a problem and were told ‘We think your order is on its way’ think ??? When our order finally arrived two hours after we called there was no apology for the extra hour delay. Food was ok, but definitely not worth the wait. Will be going back to Curry Corner West Wickham.

Went for Sunday Lunch, But were a bit late as it was 4.30 when we arrived. Hardly anybody in, so no struggle to find a table. San Miguel on table fairly quickly. Ordered Roast Beef and Roast Pork. Pork described as Loin of Pork and picture in the menu. Arrived in a reasonable time as only six people in the restaurant. Vedge very well cooked. Not too Al dente of boiled to death. My Beef had quite a bit of fat on it. The Pork loin looked like two or three slices of thin pork slices. So thin my partner could not tast it. Yorkshire Puddings were very solid and took a lot of cutting. To be fair it was late in the afternoon, and I can imagine at that time they would not be cooked fresh, but just some they had left from earlier in the day. Roast Beef cost £17.50. Pork £15.99. 2 pints of San Miguel were £6.05 each, which I consider a bit steep. I realise the hospitality buisiness is facing a lot of challenges just now after Labours Tax Everthing and Everybody policy. But I think this is quite a lot of money for what we had.

visited the cafe/restaurant for drinks only. We sat by the area designated for Afternoon Tea. We commented that it looked lovely in that area, all set out, but both agreed it was not ideal to have the tables all laid ready ! How hygienic is this??. Then 2 young girls entered the area and extremely slowly set a couple more tables up. They looked as if they had no idea what they were doing. Lastly they then fetched a couple of brushes and started sweeping the floor. I am no food hygiene expert but I will never eat at this cafe. My suggestion to management is to have one table set up for afternoon tea to show what to expect and get the staff properly trained in food hygiene standards,
