We called in during a walk. Sophie made us welcome & we were spoiled for food choice. Opted for the white Tuscan bean soup with a scone and a chicken focaccia sandwich, both delicious. Will try the scotch eggs next time. Such a pleasant place to visit on a walk. Highly recommend.

This is our favourite go to pub at the moment; we enjoy real ale and they keep it very well here; and at a good price! We haven't eaten here recently but the menu is very reasonably priced and the food we've had has been very good; especially for the price. They have speciality nights worth looking out for, but you will need to book as they are very popular! And they play some decent music!! Lovely place to chill, very nice atmosphere :-)

We came for afternoon tea here today as part of a retirement party. There was a party of 10 of us but we had paid 12 deposits. Unfortunately, 1 person wasn’t able to attend due to her child being poorly, and we were told by a rude, stroppy woman that she hadn’t been informed of this and had already prepared the afternoon tea and therefore we would be charged- not the best attitude to have to paying customers. On arrival, we were trying to set up balloons and banners but the tables were filthy and we had to wait for other people the vacate the room before we could do this. When everyone had arrived, the staff just gave us some plates and a knife each and took our drinks orders. The tables weren’t already set, no decorations, it was just lacking finesse. We then had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive- which apparently was already prepared as we were informed on arrival, it certainly didn’t look that way. The food was well presented, but the sandwiches were stale. When it came to the bill, we were over charged- one of the deposits was missing!!! DO NOT BOTHER!!! There are much nicer places for afternoon tea for similar prices!!

What can I say about this lovely little bakery? The minute we walked in we were greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere. We were there with friends and family. We ordered our drinks and snacks which were promptly served. The coffee is very smooth and actually served in earthen ware cups, which keeps it warmer for longer. I ordered the date and walnut scone. Although it was close to closing time, the scone was still very fresh and absolutely delicious. I'm not one for butter or cream dressings, so I do like my scones naked. All I can say is, you need to try this place to believe it. I will be returning and would recommend in a heartbeat. We left with more goidies too. Please check it out, you won't regret it x

This is my 3rd time back here, food was great just as always. Very friendly staff and very reasonably priced. Bring your own drinks. You definitely will not be disappointed.

Excellent fish and chips. The mini fish is anything but mini but very delicious. The regular chips portion is huge! Certainly plenty and more for 2. Freshly cooked to order. We'll return.

I almost don’t want to tell you how good this place was, from the staff who were so welcoming, to the roaring fires, and the food was 10/10. Locally people give very mixed reviews of this place, but I suspect the negative folk don’t know what a flipping good traditional pub is. I’m hoping this may become a regular place. Welcoming, clean, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, food was amazing. If you want a proper pub, with proper grub then give it a try.
