Heading into 2024 and Mother is as fantastic as ever. Recent highlights have been a vibrant chicken curry and Sri Lankan christmas cake - wow. If anything the coffee has got even better. All fresh home-cooking and excellent value. I feel very lucky this place exists in my 'hood!
Absolutely fantastic New Years Eve at Bar 1620. Wonderful cosy atmosphere, really friendly staff and great music. An extra thanks to Luke behind the bar…..what a lovely guy. Look forward to visiting again.
Ordered afternoon tea for my sisters birthday. Both her and her husband were highly delighted with this and especially the sausage rolls . Second lockdown birthday and I wondered what I could do to brighten their day and this really did fit the bill. Many thanks .
I went with my 18 year old son to use up 3 hours on a weekday lunchtime. The library of games is gargantuan! There is nearly everything here a seriously knowledgable games nerd could want, and everything is in mint condition. There are games you can play for a couple of ten minute rounds like Kingdomino or Kluster, there are games that can take 3 or 4 hours like Root and Gloomhaven, everything well known and classic is there if you want to drop in but have no inclination for learning, and all the very latest release names that will be flung around in specialist circles are there too. There is pretty much everything for young and old alike.
The owner who served us was lovely, as was the food (and turbo cheap too).
I am DEFINITELY going back LOTS.
P. S. Try the cooperative game Kraken Attack. It is many times more complex than t or box art would have you believe and completely nails to win as a team of just two.
Met the mam himself there. The legend, Harvey. I am sure one day people will be wanting to visit his eatery as much as that Salt Bae bloke.
Wonderful Chinese chicken! I'm sure the cellar bar will be open at some point soon!
Very tasty food, prepared very quickly. Quite an authentic asian experience in food hall, felt I was in Seoul!!! Portions were large, I had the KFC, spicy Chicken in chilli sauce. Good Korean beer too. On site toilets iffy though
Mazzi in Matlock, Derbyshire, was a pleasant Indian restaurant to celebrate a family birthday in April 2023. Their menu, as good as it is, didn't list a particular dish I really wanted and in querying about it, the staff were keen to see if they could help. The chef came out and offered to do the dish preferred and did so to my complete satisfaction. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the food which was well presented with a professional and friendly customer service. I was asked if I would be happy to write a revue and although I didn't live local to Matlock, I agreed to without hesitation, it really was excellent. I didn't intend to leave it this long but found their card today and thought I should since saying I would. In short, I recommend Mazzi amongst the restaurants available in Matlock, it was my daughter's choice and I was not disappointed. Worth a visit for a good evening meal with friends and family. Well done Mazzi and thank you Ali and your colleagues who made our celebration very enjoyable. Fully Recommended.
They serve the best tea around west Yorkshire. Have tried quite a lot.
The staff is welcoming and respectful.
The prices are above £4.5-6 but worth for the drink's quality.
