Upon our arrival at The Bedford, having reserved a table for a Wednesday lunch, we noticed the restaurant was quite empty. The festive ambiance, considering the time of year, was minimal, limited to a lone Christmas tree. Our orders were promptly taken, and the food arrived within an acceptable time frame. While the portion of fish and chips (£15 at the time of writing ) was generous, the cod lacked the expected flakiness, suggesting it might have been frozen and defrosted, resulting in a somewhat flavorless experience. The smoked haddock risotto, described as having a cheese glaze, arrived with normal long-grain/basmati rice submerged under a thick layer of cheese, exhibiting an unpleasant texture and taste. Although the hostess inquired about our meals, she left before we could provide comprehensive feedback. No other patrons arrived during our visit, and, regrettably, we don't plan to return in the near future

Great place for good food, lovely folk run the tea room. Seating both inside and out overlooking Middle Stoke Marshes. Good place for a coffee/tea and something to eat after a long walk

Driven past this hotel a few times and saw the sign outside for Ten Tables so decided to treat my husband. Great bar area with pretty array of filament bulbs and the restaurant is really lovely with just 10 tables as you would expect. Nice music playing and a lovely garden although it was dark and cold the evening that we went. We should have gone a few weeks ago but our booking was cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances" which it turns out was that the chef left (which is a real shame as his reviews were fabulous) but we were assured the new chef was just as good if not better. I had the beef short rib croquette to start (delicious ) and my husband had the scallops - well .... The plate came out with only 2 scallops (think they could have put 3 on for the price of £13 !). Nicely presented in their shells on a bed of greenery which we assumed to be a crispy curly kale or similar (the lighting is quite subdued in the restaurant). My husband tasted the greenery and declared it a little soggy so I tried it too. It had a very bitter, nasty taste and it made both of our tongues go numb. When the waitress came to clear the plates we asked her what it was to which she replied "You didn't eat it did you ? It's Fake Reindeer Moss". Apparently not poisonous thankfully and on checking with the chef it's also thankfully non toxic. 24 hours later and my tongue still feels peculiar. IF YOU CAN'T EAT IT DON'T PUT IT ON THE PLATE !! . The venison main course was delicious and we will go back on a summers evening so we can enjoy the outside.

Best Thai in Hitchin and most reasonably priced. Most delicious flavourful curries, noodles and freshly made spring rolls that are to die for. Food is clearly made with love and care. Delivery is speedy and food arrives piping hot. My favourite part is that they put tiny enoki mushrooms in their curries which are delicious and adorable.

I had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment I sat down, the service was so bad that I felt uncomfortable, almost like I was being attacked just for being there. The waiter’s attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming—possibly even racist, though I can't be sure. When my chicken burger arrived, it was incredibly dry, with nothing more than a plain bun and a sad piece of chicken breast. When I politely asked for some sauce, the waiter responded with a rude tone. I mean, either smile or quit your job. Food and service would get zero if I could. If you're looking for good food and a welcoming atmosphere, I strongly suggest you avoid this place. There are far better options in the area where you can actually enjoy your meal and feel respected as a customer.
