Visited again 4/8/24. Our Calamari and home made soup starters were really good. The carvery meat and all vegetables were cooked beautifully and plenty of choice. Although it was very busy the service was efficient with no wait and also no feeling of being rushed. The young man who looked after us was friendly and professional - as were all the staff there. Excellent value for money. If you've not been then try it. You won't be disappointed.

A lovely independent family run business. Nice fresh healthy food and very friendly staff. Vastly better than the PLC dividend machine that recently opened opposite.

I happened to be at a loose end in Canvey Island, saw a banner advertising Anita’s Tearoom, and went to see what it was like - it was worth the diversion along the sea wall! I had the 10 item breakfast, and it was served quickly and in a friendly fashion, and was very tasty (special recommendation for having Irish White pudding on the menu which was a very pleasant surprise) Reasonably priced and enjoyable. Certainly set me up for the day!

We came here specifically because we have two coeliacs in our family and a review on trip advisor said this place had gluten free waffle cones. We were not disappointed! We asked what they had gf and the guy said all the flavours they had today were gf and they had gf cones as well. My son hasn't been diagnosed coeliac long and has been really struggling with the changes to his diet and he was so, so happy to be able to have a cone again and to be able to choose any flavour from the selection. Made our trip :-)

Can’t understand the review about having to wait a wee while, this is a corner shop in a small village, the owner is very friendly and it’s nice to while away some time sampling the many different cheeses whilst discussing current events. If you’re in that much of a hurry go to a faceless supermarket and buy pre packed cheese and meats. We travel 10 miles quite often to buy our cheese hear because you know you’re going to get personal service and local produce.

A fascinating exhibition of new work by Cambridge born, London based artist Ian Rawlinson. The exhibition runs from 5th October - 1st November 2024 at the Edge Café. The preview takes place on Saturday 5th October from 6.30 - 8.00pm. REFRACTOR is an exploration of collective memory as seen through East Anglia's military past. Prints and collages are inspired by connections to places and structures in North West Norfolk. Rawlinson adds intrusions and abstractions to the images, drawing out the notion that these places are portals where different timelines meet. The EDGE CAFÉ is open Mon - Sat 09.00 -16.00

I've been going regularly to this pop-up stall for the last 5+ years. It is one of my favourite places in Basingstoke to grab something to eat...it's just a shame it is only around on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I would probably go here far more often if was open all week. Highly recommended if you catch them in town. This is definitely THE place for Thai food in Basingstoke...I haven't seen anything this good since Kwai 2 closed down in Lychpit. It is authentic Thai food with great variety of choice. I will usually buy some Moo Ping (pork skewers), chicken satay or fish cakes if I am after a bite of lunch; I buy the Chicken Massaman if I want to buy something for dinner. The aromatic and natural flavours are definitely different (in a good way) from the Asian "chain" eateries in Festival Place. It's as authentic as it gets. The servings are very generous and prices represent value for money...they could put the prices up a bit and it would still be decent. They only take cash so you need to come prepared...the only cash I have around in my room is literally just a fund for this place. The only downside is that there is often a 5-10 minute wait to be served as they are very busy. I think this is a combination of them being very popular but also service being relatively slow. I have sometimes baulked at the queue and regrettably had to eat somewhere else due to time constraints.
