Zyka in East Renfrewshire

We were let down by a local restaurant and turned up at Zyka shortly before the kitchen closed. However, we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and enjoyed a fabulous Indian meal. Thank you Zyka.

Best Indian Restaurant in Glasgow. We eat at Zyka all the time since it opened and we have never had a bad meal/experience. Food is wonderful and staff are very friendly and helpful. The decor is relaxing and the atmosphere is perfect. FIVE STARS

Zyka is my local, and I’ve never been disappointed by the food! Each time my family comes from France to visit me, I bring them to Zyka and they really enjoy it. The food is amazing and the staff is genuinely friendly and professional. I can only highly recommend. Thanks again for this magic moment.

We have been going to Zyka for more years than I can mention, initially when we lived in Clarkston for some 30 years, now in East Kilbride. In that time we've experienced all the Indian restaurants in our area, both in-house and takeaway as we love Indian food with its flavours, sampling textures etc from various regions. They have all been excellent, but for us Zyka is best, first among equals. The difference is Zyka have found a blend of ingredients which is complimentary to our palate with consistently high quality cooking and delivery at a reasonable price. We usually have a Friday takeaway, keeping mid week in-house dining for special occasions. Staff have always been very very friendly and kind, with takeaways delivered on time and hot. Thank you so much Zyka, you have given us many enjoyable meals, long may you continue in these difficult times. The McLeod Family

I felt like eating this kind of food the other day and I came with the wife and the food was excellent and the staff are really nice. Great service.

Went to Zyka last December (2022) and the menu had changed dramatically...Basically it is now a Tapas bar and the portions were small and over-spiced...Previously it was a decent Indian restaurant...Now it is just a snack-bar (as I see it) and the food was poor compared to previous times...A shame it appears to have gone downhill

Very disappointing having been at Zyka many times before. My husbands meal was served when my friends & my meals were almost finished! My coffee was extremely cold & had to be replaced, we hadn't even finished our drinks when we were presented with the bill. We were busy in conversation when the house lights were put on, it was very clear they wanted all customers to leave the premises. I invited my friends to join us for a nice get together but this was extremely embarrassing. I called today to complain to the manager but I don't think he has customer service experience, he said he'd make sure everything would be OK next time we visit, I'm sorry but there won't be a next time. A pity because we actually enjoyed the food, just an awful atmosphere.

Won't be going back won't be long until it closes down so expensive half the portion sizes 2 pieces of chicken pakora for £6rip off

So disappointed that Zyka is now a tapas bar. We used to enjoy the bar “European area” and had some great nights there. But 19 Canteen has taken that over (haven’t tried their European menu yet) and the Indian restaurant is now only available on the right hand side. That was never my favourite side because it depends solely on artificial light. Anyway, we thought we would give it a try. We were never aware that it was now a tapas menu as it wasn’t advertised on the website. Couldn’t get mixed pakora or my favourite chicken tikka South Indian dish. Only small portions available which were served in crockery serving dishes. The food was hot enough when it was served but was cold by the time I had finished. The old style copper dishes always kept the food hot. The food tasted good enough but small portion of rice for £2.60 was a bit steep. The restaurant was cold and quite dull. We had three dishes between the two of us , a chicken pakora, two popadoms and a tandoori roti and two pints of kingfisher. All for just under £50. Not as good value as the old menu I’m afraid. I’ve always written great reviews for Zyka in the past, but not this time. Not for us and we won’t be back. PS. Couldn’t fault the service.

Used to love Zyka but new menu is just not for me. If i want a chicken tikka i want that as a meal with sauce and rice not to have to order 2 seperate starter portions just to make up the meal. The large sauce was £5 but really small and the rice that used to serve 2 only serves one and the tikka sauce is now a basic curry sauce that is not a patch on the old tikka sauce. Chicken itself and the service was great as always but the menu and the changes are just not for me. Might be in the minority but will not be back unless the menu gives me a main course again

Having had decent meals before we phoned and ordered 3 main meals (so we thought) and sides only to get home after collection and find the chicken tikka was minus curry sauce and sidesalad. As minor as a sidesalad is! the absence of curry sauce in an Indian takeaway was perplexing at least. Having called zyka my wife was left with the brilliant communication bullet points of 'its a new menu' (doesn't say so on their website), 'we don't include items now' (wow I knew that by then) and best of all 'we can send you more tikka and some sauce for £!!!!!' (They actually expected full price). As I sat contemplating the bowl of dry rice and 3 small bits of tikka this was not what I expected to hear or be offered. Whatever cost of living crisis or other issue led to the management to adopt this approach and bit part menu it actually adds up to that awful scenario of a product you used to love suddenly becoming 2nd rate and much smaller yet you have still paid a premium for it. The 'payup' attitude on the phone was very poor and we won't be back, neither will many I know who ask for the better Indians to order from, as we are considered reasonably accurate in our views. My neighbours always go to giffnock and i wondered why, now I agree. 1st rate cost for 3rd rate part of a main meal, zero communication to flag up the change, and 4th rate attitudes on the phone of pay up for us to rectify your dry as a sahara desert dinner. All in all outstandingly condescending and costly for far less than you thought you were getting. Buyer beware or go elsewhere for a full dinner.

Everything was perfection; the food, the staff and the restaurant were all fantastic. Special thanks to our waiter Kumar, who is an absolute credit to the restaurant and Scotland. His friendly nature and service was the highlight of our visit. Can’t wait to come back ❤️. It was an absolute pleasure to dine here. Would travel back from Belfast for the service alone. Our friends booked a table for 4 in the Restaurant 2 weeks prior to visit. When we arrived we were told we would need to sit in the bar as they hd no tables. The bar was exceptionally busy as was the reception area with people collecting carry outs. The staff were completely unorganised and one was shouting at a customer on the phone. We explained we particularly wanted in the restaurant. The member of staff dealing with us got quite stroppy and said why did we not consider ordering food and taking it home to eat. We did not order food and in the end left and got a booking elsewhere. Terrible customer service and a completely ruined night.

We have used this place a few times and find the food tasty,, but what we have noticed in the last year or so the portions have diminished dramatically... WHY....? i like to order the spicy lamb chops and only one bite and its gone... where as it used to be 2 decent bites to enjoy a starter ... but the lamb chops are tiny now and at 6 quid for three its not worth it at all.... come on guys stop reducing the the food portions why risk your business after building a good one from the start... and then rip off customers with half portions it doesn't make sense.... tasty food but tiny amounts we will go elsewhere now

We ordered some food tonight for children, adults who usually don’t eat spicy food but also for adults who like it “hot”. Results: every single person in the family loved it!

Good food but watch out for the non existent small print on the November deal...they appear to think 50% off mains is the same as the cheapest main free. Even quizzed the manager on it who seemed to think that too. Generally poor customer service. ☹️

Amazing. From the outside, this place looks like a little shop front on a retail estate. Instead, it's a beautiful and spacious restaurant with a smashing bar area.The food was exceptional - we had the chicken and the mushroom pakora as starters (crispy, with no grease), followed by a vegetable korma (just the right side of sweet) and the jhinga king prawns (charcoaled, meaty and absolutely delicious).The staff perfectly complemented the efforts of the kitchen - they provided a warm welcome, were attentive without ever being intrusive and did their utmost to ensure that our visit was absolutely perfect.I can't recommend this place enough. It's a real hidden gem.

I took my daughter who is in her early 20’s and a vegetarian. The food was superb. I like my food medium hot and with the help of the waiter I got exactly what I was after, a tasty medium hot chicken dish. My daughter had a vegetarian dish and a Sag Paneer, her favourite dish. She said that this was one of the best she’d tasted. The staff were efficient and friendly. All in all a very good experience.

We visited this fantastic restaurant on Friday 28th of August and had the most enjoyable meal i've ever had in an indian restaurant. The staff were brilliant as was the food and ambience. We shared and enjoyed a feast of about 25 starter portions all served on to our table at the same time. Can't wait till next time. Thank you very much to the management for a great evening.

Visited with my husband and daughter. Range of dishes with authentic flavours and beautifully cooked. Some dishes are specialities to this restaurant, always find staff attentive and polite with good service. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant based on the food quality.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday night with friends. The service was good and the food excellent . Found the portion size to be perfect . Nice atmosphere . Will be returning.

If you fancy a curry, and want a classy place, this is for you. Good food, great attentive service, age nice surroundings. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food provided, and we will certainly be back.

My wife and I visited Zyka following a recommendation from friends. We weren't able to sit in the restaurant proper but rather were in the Grill. Not quite the same feeling given there is a bar which adjoins the grill.Service was a bit tardy let's say that. The night didn't start too well as my wife's drink option wasn't available and then neither was the monkfish so that scratched a fair few options for us. It is also one of my favourites but we made do with other choices.Save poppadoms which we had to ask for, it took an hour for food to hit the table. When it did the starters were excellent with the lamb chops in particular succulent and tender.The lamb main was interesting, a mix of mince and strips but whilst I thought it was ok, it was only just ok. The king prawn curry was not quite spicy enough although had good flavour and the prawns were perfectly cooked. Our last dish was okra but sadly the okra was pretty much diced and submerged in a bowl of onions. It was almost a bit of fun searching through the bowl for some nice green bits. Funnily enough rarely have we had a tip top okra dish at any Indian restaurant but we live in hope.The whole meal with drinks came to £70 so it wasn't cheap for two of us. Overall, would we go back? Probably not in truth. It was no better than ok, and in a city with so many great options, that says it all.

Organised a short notice meal for a family catch up as some out of town relatives were visiting. This was my first visit (my partner's second) although I have eaten a takeaway recently. It certainly won't be my last. From the initial greeting at the door to the cheery banter of the waiter I really can't fault the service. As for the food, six happy diners cleared the plates of three courses of promptly served fare. Special mention to some of the freshest nan breads I've tasted in a long time!

Thank you for making my birthday meal so special. We all loved the food and the place is great. Came here with friends and family because of the recent Spice award win for fine dining. Non of us were disappointed. We were met by the manageress Billie who made us feel welcome and like at home.

Went in with my family, we were a table of six. Must say that this restaurant is so beautifully done. We sat by the fire place which sits nicely in the centre with all tables surrounding it what a setting. My family gave me topmarks for suggesting this restaurant to celebrate my moms birthday. We had a selection of starters to start a special mention for the tandoori dishes especially the king prawns and the lamb chops. Main courses were equally as good very tasty. My favourite was The Chicken Tawa. Me and my family always go out for meals but this was by far the best Indian ever. So keep up the good works guys will definitely be back.

This has to be the best South Indian curry I have ever had!!! The staff were really friendly and couldn’t have done more for me. Would recommend 100%

It’s nice building in nice area,good parking,but food wise, there were a few errors and it kinda made everyone’s meals a bit disjointed

I ate in Zyka last weekend - food was OK, though a bit small for my son and I's likings and service was slow... Would be a 1* review if not for the barman making our night - by far the best thing about the place. Had a dodgy stomach the next day but cant be sure if meal is definitely to blame... in any case don't think we'll be back any time soon.

This is a classy Indian restaurant.

The level of service at this restaurant is terrible. The takeaway prices have jumped up by £4 for a set meal £19.95 to £23.95 which has very limited choice compared to competition is awful while the portion size has dropped. The food is generally ok but the lack of choice linked to the jump in price makes it the last choice in Newton Mearns! I’ve tried to msg the management about this and had no response...shocking!!!

Was pleasantly surprised when I visited Zyka with my family. Restaurant was clean and had lovely decor, the food was exceptional.. would recommend the Balochi chicken tikka for starter, delhi lamb for mains with mushrooms jeera rice.. so tasty, freshly cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive, polite and the service was faultless. This restaurant Definatly ticked my experience of fine dining, it's a hidden gem in Newton Mearns, worth travelling to.. would certainly recommend.

Went to Zyka with friends as usually go to Turban at Giffnock station , but it was there choice of venue . We ordered popadoms and spiced onions and waiter asked for drinks order ..wine brought to the table .

The food was great, staff courteous sat in bar after the meal and one red faced 'man' was vaping, my wife complained first and the bar Manager asked the 'man' to stop. He then glared at my wife on and off for 20 minutes and started again at which point I complained and then complained a further time. As they were regulars the bar staff asked them to stop but didn't ask them to leave when they continued. There were two families of approx 11 with young children breathing in this vapour who would spend more in one night than they would spend in 2 months.

Just ordered a takeaway from here on the set meal for two and it was awful. The pakora was doughy. There was tons of it but most of it will be going in the bin. My husband asked for an extra sauce which was left out. The nan bread was freezing. And the curries were supposed to be different but were exactly the same . The chicken was also dry. One was supposed to be chicken tikka but it was hard to tell which was which. We were told around an hour for delivery on the phone and it took over two hours. Really disappointing and we won’t be ordering from here again.

5 if us went for a family meal on a Saturday night. This is my go to Indian restaurant for sit in and carry out, food is so tasty. Why not 5 ? They have round tables and they sit 5 of us at a rectangular table with 1 person sitting at the end with no-one across from them. When the starters arrived... we were sharing and it was awkward because of the seating arrangement.

Had a very good meal here. Good service - our server took a little while to warm to us but no complaints overall. Nice menu with lots of different choices. Would definitely return if in the area.

We have eaten at Zyka a load of times, both on the Indian side and the European occasionally. We like that you can have a drink before sitting down to your table and there is a relaxed atmosphere in the place. Even if there is football on the TV’s, the sound is down / off and it doesn’t spoil your evening, as it can in other establishments. As for the food, we have always loved the Indian side and this visit was no exception. Mixed and vegetable Pakora to start was followed with 4 different mains, everything was well cooked and spiced to the right degree. While I read some recent negative reviews of this place, I could not find fault with any aspect of our evening. While I can’t argue with other diners and their opinions, don’t let the odd negative comment put you off eating here.

Been going to Zyka for years as the food was always superb. Visited yesterday and was very disappointed. Papadoms were burned and for the first time ever had to send a dish back. I order the same curry every time I go, this time the sauce was awful and the lamb was tough with large lumps of fat and gristle. Too many other quality curry restaurants in the area to get away with this. It will be a while before I return...if ever. Something has changed in the kitchen and I hope the management sort it quickly.

Toilets were disgusting and food was cold and tasteless needs refurbished and staff where rude , think unless you are a regular your basically treated non existent will not be back nor will my husband .

Have ordered from Zyka loads of time as food is good but tonight we ordered takeaway and told it would not be long. It has now been nearly an hour and 30 min and still no sign of food. Phoned to enquire and first attempt I was left hanging on the phone for ages. Hung up and tried again only to be told they were busy. Needless to say we are still waiting. This poor service probably means we won't be ordering takeaway from them in the future.

Me and my family visit Zyka a few times each month and we cannot fault the food or service. The food is outstanding and it has a great atmosphere.

We have been using Zyka for a good few years and usually rave about it. Tonight we went in and ordered a takeaway. The main chicken tikka had 5 small pieces of chicken and a very runny and tasteless curry sauce accompanied with a tiny salad! They also forgot our nan bread! The chicken bhoona was ok.This is not the Zyka we know and love, but sometimes you need to try elsewhere and we will next time, sorry #disappointed.

I have been a regular customer with family and friends to Zyka for a couple of years now. Food and service in the restaurant and the bar / diner is always great.

I cannot believe how long we waited on 'Mothers Day' for a quite expensive 'Carry-out' from Zyka. One hour and thirty minutes and were still waiting. O.K it is Mothers Day but that is crazy! Rang restaurant after one hour and they said it was 'Out for delivery.' If you have the same awful experience don't blame the delivery driver...The management should know better than to take orders they cannot fulfill in a reasonable time. Delivery driver was so nice and apologetic...It certainly was NOT his fault! Just dreadful management. 0 stars would be nice to give.

One of our favourite restaurants in Glasgow. The food is always fabulous with some very original dishes on the menu which delight the palate. Portion sizes are very generous and ambiance is chilled with attentive waiters. The Lamb lababdar is superb as is their version of fish pakora.

What a lovely surprise, such a friendly and welcoming staff with great service, and the food was so mouth watering.

There was a group of 18 all with kids. Great attentive service and the food is honestly exceptional with large portions, they also do take away and highly recommend a visit. Very good value for money! We had a great night!

Dined at Zyka’s several times for Indian cuisine, always first class with great service and surroundings! We have sampled similar themed restaurants in the area and none come close to Zyka - great restaurant for families. Super staff and excellent food every time, lamb chops tandoori is a favourite! Same applies to takeaways and home delivery service - food is same quality as sitting in, never disappointed.

Possibly the best Pakora in Scotland, if not the world. Generous portions and very reasonable priced. Every dish was a perfect example of that style. Could not fault it. One of the best Indian meals I've had in recent memory.

Service and food excellent. Decor of restaurant very tasteful. Only reason for not awarding 5 stars was the tables were too close together therefore we could hear every word the group at the table beside us said.

I’ve visited Zyka regularly over the last few years & even came for Christmas dinner one year! Which Offered a great range of traditional Christmas dinner, Indian & burgers etc. The restaurant itself is beautiful, lovely decor, large mirrors a cosy open fire, the bar is vibrant with large tv and tables situated around it which my partner enjoyed during one of our visits at the World Cup. The staff are very nice and can’t be more accommodating, during our last visit they rearranged some tables for us so we could join our family who happen to be there at the same time, nothing Is ever too much trouble. I’ve tried a range of the menu, never had anything that hasn’t tasted amazing although my favourite has got to be the lamb chops! They are Devine! A must get. Spiced onions are also a favourite of mine, the monkfish was good too & prawns. Curry’s and rices can be halfed portions are enough to share if your having sides like pakora, nan bread, chips etc. This is definitely my favourite and go to Indian, can’t recomend it enough, looking forward to my next visit as always

Came here on Saturday the 10th November, everything about the place was flawless down to the food, staff and service. Not being from the area we take a chance going to Zyka but it was definitely worth the visit. Keep up the good work.

It's been a while since we ate at an Indian restaurant but friends suggested this for a night out. It was handily close to the Premier Inn where we were staying which was a bonus.

Excellent curries in delightful Indian style surroundings. The tandoori lamb chops and Jinga king prawns are especially good. Food is freshly cooked and the pakora is magnificient and always freshly cooked - no burnt reheated specimens.

Great quality food in comfortable surroundings. We eat at Zyka’s regularly and have never been disappointed.

Always good for an eat in but we now prefer Zyka for a Take Away. Friendly staff and plenty of parking.

The quality of the food here is very good and the staff are friendly and attentive, particularly the couple who own the restaurant as they are generally always available. The chefs are quite happy to add any twist you like to the dishes on the menu and the food is reasonably priced. It feels fairly intimate and a nice restaurant for couples.

A little unusual as the restaurant is in a modern building beside the car park for a mini shopping centre, and there's a large bar in the building as well. But the food is excellent; portions are generous; and the flavours first class.

I went with a group of 6 friends, I wouldn't choose to go for a curry but they had fish & chips on the grill menu so it was the one main course I could order so agreed to go. The mango chutney and popadoms were tasty, followed by a starter of Piri Piri Chicken which was nice. Main course, the fish & chips, however was the worst I have ever tasted in my life I am sorry to say, I couldn't eat it it was that bad. I have no idea how a chef can make a disaster of such a simple dish. I was awfully glad I'd had a starter so I didn't starve. Sorry but this was not a great experience for me generally, service was ok but nothing about the visit was great so I won't be back. My friends thought the curry etc was nice enough but nothing outstanding. I don't usually leave negative reviews of any kind but I can't get that fish & chips out of my head as it was so terrible! :-(

Son and daughter Inlaw to be took us and grannifi tonight. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, service was great, all staff very friendly, welcoming and professional. You never come away from this restraunt feeling uncomfortable as dishes can be cooked as you like them.

I went to the bar here with a couple of pals for a beer recently and we ended up dating for dinner. The food was excellent as was the service.

Visited several times for food or just for a drink. Wonderful staff, food is exceptional and always a nive friendly atmosphere. You wont be disapointed.

The takeaway prices at this restaurant are a rip off. You do not get any service from the staff or use the restaurant facilities like cutlery, napkins etc and yet the prices are almost the same as the a la carte menu. Check out Mother India in Glasgow - a far superior restaurant and you will see a great difference in price between their takeaway menu and the sit in a la carte menu - as it should be.

We ate here early on a Saturday evening. The staff were very accommodating in arranging a table at relatively short notice in the grill area - and were very efficient in taking orders and serving food. The food itself from the Indian menu was good - and there was plenty of choice for vegetarians. There was also a reasonable choice of wines by the glass. The only downside was that the restaurant was very noisy - understandable because it was very full, but unfortunately added to by too-loud rock music which did nothing for the ambience!

Lovely staff, pleasant atmosphere and food was great. It was snowing heavily which made it even cozier. Definitely recommend.

Food was nice, but 3 of us went for a meal, and for the starters, 2 of us received our meals and we kept complaining the 3 rd person's meal had not arrived, eventually it arrived as we were finishing...as did main course..2 courses arrived and the 3rd arrived half way through..we complained again, not even an appology, all they said was they would look into it]look into what?] that all the meals did not arrive together. The staff need some training in how to deal with customers. Also they need to ask, 'how are things' once you are eating, to see how you are getting on and if your meal is ok etc..but nothing!!!

As well as being a very good restaurant with high quality food, what I would highlight is the customer care. From having to Add another person to the table on Christmas Eve all the way through service, each and every person cared with a smile. A great team of Front of House working in the restaurant.

One of my favourite restaurants and it’s local! Great currys, super atmosphere (especially in the bar/restaurant area) and terrific value for money. Staff are really friendly and I know what I’m having even before I get there. Well worth a visit!

My title reflects the quality of this Indian Restaurant. The choice and standard of food is higher than your average Indian Restaurant. The service was excellent and the price was mid-range. Will return.

We were visiting family in Glasgow this weekend and decided to try Zyka, as we had heard about the Indian / Grill “combo” and the restaurant was only a 5 minute walk from the Premier Inn where we were staying.

Visited for dinner on a Sunday when the grill area was quiet. The restaurant seems to be split in two...

Friendly staff excellent food particularly the Indian side of the restaurant, just a pity the Indian restaurant only opens at weekends as European Restaurant, although food still very good, has a pub food feel about it.

Taken to this restaurant by some friends and impression created was one of class and high standards.

Zyka is very much my local Indian restaurant and my choice simply for a few beers at the bar. That said, I won’t shirk from pointing out where things could improve.

Been there with friends on Friday evening last week . Looks like the chef has been changed. Tandoori chicken tikka was good but curry seemed bland, no spice at all. Made a complaint . Waitress told the lady was owners wife. Who cares who it was. As I have paid money for food and service. Her nosy approach ruins our evening. Will never go back.
