The restaurant was warm and busy but tables are set too close together. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food was disappointing. My vegetable main had frozen veg in it and my companions fish dish was extremely overcooked

I have never gone to a restaurant for Xmas. My wife and I always had the family round to enjoy the exchange of gifts and traditional meal. Sadly, my wife died in August, so we knew this was going to be a difficult time. Especially as she was 'Mrs Christmas'. My daughter suggested it might be a slightly less stressful time if we were to go to a restaurant on Christmas day. So, booked Ashrafs. I received an email confirming the booking and later received another email asking me to confirm my booking which I did. One of my party was my 3 year old grandaughter. Because of this I booked a 4.00pm slot, given her bedtime is around 7.00pm. On arrival we were asked to wait for our table. After 15 or so mins a member of staff informed us that they did not take our booking, despite having received the booking confirmation email. We were offered a carry out or a later slot. Be clear wew would have to pay for the carry out. Thus defeating the purpose of trying to have a family dinner out. I accepted a later time of 6.15pm only because it was Christmas day, therefore, no other option to go anywhere else! A member of staff informed us that this would allow 15 mins to prepare our table. So we went home. We arrived at the agreed time, however, we were taken to a table nearer 7.00pm. While waiting to be taken to our table, we gave a drinks order only for half the drinks not to be there when we were seated. We asked for water which came after 20 odd mins. Three times we asked for glasses for the water, they arrived on the third time of asking. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but they didn't speak to each other so, sometimes we got what we wanted other times we didn't. No one seemed to be in charge! Every member of staff was pleasant to us but completely inefficient. We did receive one round of drinks, as an apology, yet I had to haggle over getting my 3 year old grandaughter's meal deducted from the bill, given the late hour. There was clealry embarrassment over the whole affair, but our experience was abysmal. I can give credit to the quality of the food. But overall the exerience was nothing short of shamefull. It seems that, instead of limiting their bookings they over booked to mitigate non attenders, and we suffered for that. All they needed to to was take a 10 or even 20% non returnable booking fee. But they got greedy. On reflection it might have been less stressful to stay at home ironically.

Absolutely great night. Food was fantastic as was the service. Staff were very friendly and attentive and made it a great experience. Also pleasantly surprised at the final bill. Great experience, great place. Will 100 percentage be back.

Had a wonderful meal here. The food was delicious and our waiter, Taz, was brilliant. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. His lovely personality made our experience even better. Highly recommend!!!!!

No puedo creer que este sea el mismo restaurante que visitamos hace unos meses - una experiencia completamente diferente y decepcionante, empeorado por el hecho de que fue para una ocasión especial. El lugar era relativamente tranquilo cuando llegamos, sin embargo, nuestros entrantes no aparecieron durante casi una hora. Mientras tanto, el restaurante se llenaba constantemente y la gente a nuestro alrededor se arropaba en sus comidas, dejándonos un poco olvidados. Eventualmente preguntamos cuándo llegarían nuestros entrantes para estar seguros de que sería dentro de los próximos 1 - 2 minutos, ya que el chef estaba actualmente emplatando. Pero luego esperamos otros 10 minutos antes de que aparecieran, y estaban tibios. Desafortunadamente Ashraf se quedó muy corto de la marca en nuestra última visita, tanto que no vamos a volver. Después de haber esperado casi una hora para nuestros entrantes, uno de ellos salió frío y desafortunadamente el personal de espera se parecía a una escena de Faulty Towers. Un barco sin timón sin nadie al timón que lo guíe por aguas agitadas. Además en mi visita anterior la comida era excepcional sin embargo esta vez mi plato de gambas consistía en una salsa estándar de la ciénaga rellena de gambas bebé sobrecocinadas y aunque estaba destinado a ser picante, muy poco se podía probar. También nos informaron que alguien se pondría en contacto para discutir nuestra experiencia, sin embargo, esto no se materializó, por lo tanto, la razón de esta revisión. Nunca he hecho una revisión en línea, sin embargo, el hecho de que nos dijeron que alguien estaría en contacto y esto no se materializó es quizás el aspecto más decepcionante de toda la situación.

Fantastic food, not your usual tandoori, they do have "classics" for the fusspots, but they have twice as many house specials from south India. The dark spicy lamb and coconut fish curry were incredible. 6 dips with the poppadoms, half classic, half more obscure. Waitress was so friendly as well, even told us about a new dip they were trying, and which would we vote to get rid of, love the love for the food.

So disappointed in this place, £11 for a curry and I had 4 bits of chicken in the tub! The tub wasn’t even full of sauce. So we got two pieces each. The pakora was so dry and chewy with a very dried out onion garnish and the chips were extremely soggy but I know that can happy due to delivery containers. Overall would definitely not order from here again - the curry lacked a lot of flavour.

Naan bread were burned, and samosas were looking like big potatoes. Other dishes were okay. Overall, I prefer the Netherlee’s Indian.

'D' our server along with all the staff were very pleasant and attentative. The food was excellent. I have no association with this resturant, but thoughly enjoyed.

First time ordering from here, the food is delicious, the parathas with onions flaky, melt in the mouth. Will definitely be ordering again. Worth the wait.

Ashraf's Indian Kitchen is a hidden gem! The food is incredibly authentic, especially their Kerala-style dishes, which are bursting with flavor. We tried the thattukada chilli beef, fish moilee, chicken chettinad, Calicut chicken biryani, Kerala porotta, and plain dosa—all of which were amazing. The staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. The taste of the dishes truly transported me back to Kerala. Can't wait to visit again! Highly recommend!

Enjoyed the food and always like the staff in there. The only thing that let it down was the speed of service. We had small kids with us who were getting quite cranky at not getting their food, which then puts everyone on edge. It was probably over an hour after we got in that they got their food and we had our starters. We had poppadoms in between times but they didn’t bring enough dips, then eventually brought more (later I’ve realised we were charged for 3 instead of the 2 we got). We do really like it in here. The staff are great and to be honest it’s not a bad thing spreading out the delivery of food at an Indian, but the whole process needed to start a lot sooner than it did tonight.

Hemos visitado la cocina Ashrafs en muchas ocasiones y hemos cantado sus alabanzas, pero definitivamente no esta noche! Dos camareros estaban encendidos y el nacimiento parecía tímido y aterrorizado cuando llegamos. Nos mostraron nuestros asientos, pero luego nos fuimos por siglos antes de que apareciera un menú. Los entrantes pidieron pero cuando dijimos que éramos veganos, después de haber comido muchas veces allí antes, el camarero parecía perdido y tuvimos que elegir nuestras opciones veganas y explicarnos. La comida estaba seca y mucho menos sabrosa que nuestras visitas anteriores, así que el arroz y la paratha eran geniales! Alimentos mal presentados, extremadamente secos y no muy sabrosos en absoluto. Cuando nos fuimos, otro alto funcionario que acababa de llegar y que conocíamos de visitas anteriores, dijo que había habido una “emergencia” que parecía ofrecer esto como excusa / disculpa cuando dijimos que nuestra comida era muy pobre. Quizás fue una mala noche, pero habiendo sido un cliente fiel, no estoy seguro de otra visita... veamos...

Beautiful restaurant to eat in, gorgeous surroundings and the best waiting staff I have ever encountered. Tina was amazing, she talked us through all courses and introduced us to new tastes. This was a spontaneous experience but couldn’t recommend highly enough and will definitely be back vey soon, such a great discovery ❤️

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Unfortunately we didn’t receive something we ordered, was a bit of a wait for the bill and then we were overcharged. Sorted out immediately. It was a very busy night so perhaps that was the issue. We used itison vouchers and we would definitely return to order from the main menu.

This is fast becoming a regular haunt for us. Excellent food with lots of veggie & fish options. Recommend the monkfish tikka & fish rogan josh. Great value too. Staff are friendly & helpful but my only (minor) criticism is after you ask for the bill they either take far too long or else they present the bill & forget to return with card machine. But this is a very small aside.

Had a lovely meal here tonight. It was for my birthday and the staff made my night special when they sang happy birthday and presented me with a dessert. Good value for money. Food very tasty and good portion size (I couldn’t finish my meal but I got it put in a tub to takeaway). Dear chef - the kulfi mango is missing. Will u put one in my next order in a few days? Thx. The mushroom pakora was microwaved!! Batter soggy. I asked for pakora sauce but was given kebab sauce altho an extra one was popped in which was kind. The bhuna paneer was delicious and the chicken tikka masala nice. The nan bread was thick and soft. Lovely. I had icecream but one desert was missing from the order.Still my favourate place.

I recently had the pleasure of getting a take away from Ashraf restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. Four of us paid our first visit to Ashraf’s on Saturday 15th June - will definitely return and would highly recommend. All staff were friendly, attentive and helpful when we were choosing from the menu. The menu is great-a very varied choice with some options that were new to us. We all really enjoyed the food-starting with a pile of poppadums served with a tray of different dips, spiced onions etc. the starters and mains were all excellent-the four of us couldn’t fault them 👍 A great evening with some good chat with the staff.

My second visit and won’t be the last. Food was lovely and staff very helpful and friendly 😊

As always an excellent meal with first class service. The kitchen are happy to modify meals to suit our tastes. We asked to change some curries to vegan and the staff were happy to arrange this. We will be back again soon.

We has set meal for 2 plus extra dishes. Smallest portions of pakora chicken and veg ever experienced. Three dishes bhuna, jalfrezi and butter masala lacked differences all were pretty bland. Portion of chatt, and the spiced onion & poppadoms were nice. Had much better takeaways from elsewhere for a lesser price.

Ordered a takeaway set meal for 2 tonight 4th May 2024. First time triers of the restaurant. Reviews have always been good so wanted to try it after usually getting our Indian meals in East Kilbride, thought we’d give the set meal for 2 a go. Ordered online, some veg and haggis pakora. Adequate portions for a starter and a main of chicken tikka masala and king prawn South Indian garlic chilli. Both meals absolutely delicious and just the right kick. Only gripe would be the naan could’ve been more garlicy for our liking but still really good. No faults and fairly quick service for a busy thriving restaurant. Will definitely be back and book a sit down meal the next time. One of the best Indian restaurants in East Renfrewshire 10/10!

Mushrooms in the potato garlic chilli and tofu madrasi. The curry was tasty until I experienced mushroom. I hate mushrooms in fact I’m sure this is something that should be advertised if one is allergic to mushrooms which was the case. Spoiled the meal. The sauces are incredible though. Sorry for leaving this review but if you’re going to add Mushrooms in a dish, should be advertised. You get a high rating because delivery was great. Nan and pilau rice was amazing.

Never got to try food as it was itison deal and had to go away on business for weeks and the deal ran out phoned and explained situation they said couksnt honour it so never got to try food

My first experience of this restaurant last night, I ordered a take away. It was absolutely spot on. I'm funny with Indian food, having made cooking it my hobby for 20 years, I'm often disappointed with restaurant/takeaway food. This was not one of those experiences. Really fresh, full of flavour, big portions; there was nothing to fault. The rice was outstanding; a high point of the meal. The tandoori chicken flavoured with lime and mango was to die for. I'll definitely be booking a table for a wee visit, I feel lucky to have this so local! Thanks Ashraf's for a lovely meal last night.

I went to Ashrafs for the first time earlier this week with my husband. What a lovely cosy restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

Bought a wowcher for a very good price and expected a mediocre curry and extortionate drinks. Instead we got very generous portions which tasted incredible, and the drinks etc were very reasonable. Excellent service. Will be back!

I’m so gutted , I remember speaking with new owners and they said the korma would not change. It has . Iv been eating that korma for years. A favourite. It tastes nothing like it . Chicken pakora has changed too. Please put it back to the original recipe.

This review is for a home delivery. The food itself was very tasty and good value, however, the delivery time was advertised as an acceptable 45 minutes but we waited a full hour and a half. If they had said that it was very busy and there would be a longer wait, then I could have accepted that. Maybe they should consider hiring extra delivery drivers on the weekend.

Really excellent service from start to finish. We were encouraged to take our time, never rushed. Everything came out in perfect time. Food was gorgeous and well presented. The new staff being trained were so polite and on top of everything. Highly recommend!

Booked a table for 7:30, ordered our food at 8:00pm. Starters came pretty quickly but the curries didn’t appear until 9:30. Main courses were mediocre, bland and tasteless. No apology or refund offered just they had issues in the kitchen. We will not be back to ASHRAFS - you can’t beat the Turban in Giffnock, best curry house on the Southside.

I'm sorry to say this as out last delivery was great. But everything that was ordered was stone cold. The chips and pakora was very soggy and greasy. The portion sizes of the pakora appear to be half the size of when we had them last time, and the wrong rice was delivered. Sad to say we probably won't order again!

I purchased a wowcher deal to let me see how good the food was with an aim to return if I enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and professional. However, we did not receive the same food as we would have received if we had booked without a voucher. Therefore, the voucher was false advertising as it did not truly offer a discount on their menu. Instead they have a menu for voucher recipients. The food portion is also much smaller than they normally sell. Therefore it was not a £40.30 meal for £19. It was a reduced meal that would have only cost £19. The meal itself was bland. The cauliflower pakora was one large piece of cauliflower cut up and placed in batter. The curry when placed on the plate and pressed flat would have covered a quarter of the plate, and it was not a large dinner plate! The vegetables were sparse, for a vegetarian option that is disappointing. There was also an overwhelming taste and texture of mango chutney in the bhoona. Unfortunately we won't return to pay full price for these reasons.

Best Indian ever. Been there a few times now and just fantastic. Trying different dishes now and loving it. Last night was spicy so Tina got us a wee ice cream to cool our mouths down. Just an over all lovely vib and great staff x x

Fantastic restaurant , food was amazing and service was first class

After reading lots of positive reviews we decided to give ashrafs a try, only to be hugely disappointed. We booked a table for 7 o’clock on a Friday night, we weren’t seated until half 7 then had to wait another 20 minutes before we got a drinks order taken. After being there for an hour a food order was taken then our mains didn’t arrive until after 9 o’clock, at that point we had been there for over 2 hours. The food was mediocre and the service chaotic. Overall an extremely disappointing experience and we won’t be returning.

My friends and I visited Ashrafs for the first time. The welcome and attention from staff was lovely. The food was amazing and well presented. We will definitely be back soon.

Loved this place! A hidden wee jewel in Clarkston. Food came out in good time, piping hot and delicious. It's very intimate and cosy so book ahead, fills up fast. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, ask them anything about the food or it's ingredients and they'll answer without hesitation. Definitely going back

This first time visiting Ashraf’s Kitchen. We thought the food was very good. Only clean plates left! Our two young children also enjoyed their mild butter chicken curries with rice. The restaurant is quite small and is nicely decorated. It has a nice ambience. There were quite a few staff on and we couldn’t fault any of them for their friendliness and politeness. Full marks for pleasantness. The only not-so-good point is that the service was slow. However, to be fair the restaurant appeared to be totally full. So this is perhaps understandable. We never complained about the speed of the service, given how busy it was, but the restaurant apologised for the delays nonetheless and made a voluntary adjustment to our bill. This kind and refreshing gesture was very much appreciated, not many other restaurants would do this. So will we return to Ashraf’s Kitchen? Definitely! Thank you.

We had an excellent meal in here yesterday for early valentines. We had an Itison Voucher, but spent a bit extra. Food is superb, staff were very attentive and really friendly. Never went in here when it was the Minar as it had quite a bad reputation, but the new owners have transformed the place and it now brilliant. Can't wait to go back and such a good place to have on your doorstep in Clarkston.

the rice, naan bread and pakora were not fresh and were quite clearly reheated from previous. portions were very small too. very poor value for money.
