Zyka Boutique Restaurant & Lounge in Northumberland

We had booked a table and arrived to find the doorway to the restaurant very congested with fellow diners waiting for tables and takeaway customers. This aspect was poorly managed however we were shown to our table 15 minutes later and things improved immediately. All staff were working extremely hard to cope with the demand which was admirable. Our meal was delicious, served piping hot by friendly, courteous staff. We were aware that other diners around us felt they had waited far too long for their food but this was not our experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The restaurant is obviously very popular and I can see why as our food was well presented, very tasty and most enjoyable. Things quietened down noticeably after half an hour so we must have arrived during the peak of service at 7:30pm. A memorable meal on Easter weekend.

We've waited one hour this evening for a very average but pricey takeaway. Clearly they had not even began to prepare it when the money was handed over at 7.30pm because we would have cancelled it .The manager should be out front apologizing to upset customers not hiding in the dining room. We were given £40 back after asking for a refund. The night was a disaster when we got to eat it at 9pm.

We had been before so had high hopes for another lovely dinner. It was Mum's first time here and she was really taken with her crab wrap and chicken chettinad which she is determined to look out for again. I had a prawn starter and main and both were full of large prawns. My only slight issue was that the puri in the starter was not as light as it usually is, tasting a tiny bit stodgy. Otherwise everything was delicious and well-spiced. The service, as ever, was very attentive and quick. Portions are generous so plenty of people were leaving with doggy bags!

What an amazing find. A friend recommended this restaurant and wow they were right, it is a great place. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. My husband never normally comments on food but this restaurant certainly made him say very positive things especially when they made sure he had big pieces of lime in the lime pickle. I wish we lived closer but sadly they don’t deliver to France. If we visit this area again we will definitely be back. Thank you Zyka

We visited Zyka yesterday for the first time and were really impressed with both the quality of food and the service. The restaurant is quite small and has a cosy and intimate atmosphere. We arrived early, a little before 7 pm, and were the first diners there but it soon started to fill up, not bad for a cold Monday evening! We ordered from the special menu which was just under £20 each for a starter, a main course and rice or naan bread. To begin we ordered the lamb tikka and the onion bahji. The bahjis were the best I have ever eaten, so light and delicate and not at all greasy. They were also huge so I was glad my husband and I were sharing!! For main course I ordered the chicken tikka and my husband had a lamb rogan, both good choices but my tikka was outstanding! The portion size was way more than I expected and was really moist with just the right amount of spice. The garlic naan which came with the lamb curry was also enormous and very delicious! From the moment we entered the restaurant the staff were charming and helpful. It’s worth mentioning that the drinks prices were also very reasonable. Such a nice evening and we are very much looking forward to our next meal at Zyka.

Went on Valentines night. Meal was superb. Brilliant atmosphere and great value. As ever a memorable night at Zyka, our favourite Indian restaurant ever.

Great Indian in Hexham. We opted for poppadoms, starters and mains to include two naans and a rice between two adults and a child. We asked if they could make a smaller child friendly portion but were told this was not possible. The starters were excellent and accompanied with fresh salad, the meat in the mains was good quality and full of flavour and the naans were superb. The food was excellent and portions were substantial (I have a good appetite) and I struggled to finish my main. Definitely worth a visit and will be happy to visit again if in the area. I’m from Leeds and we have great curries on the doorstep and this was up there with anything on offer in Leeds or Bradford.

We have visited Zyka several times over the last year for both sit in & take out. Service is always attentive but never hurried. The food is always delicious and the portion sizes are generous.

Special birthday, where to go? Zykas in Hexham is the natural choice. Rashid and all his great staff make you feel welcome from the minute you enter this stylish comfortable restaurant. The food is truly delicious, freshly cooked and very good value. We had Kashimi king prawns, railway chicken curry,keema rice,keema naan,onion bhjais accompanied by kingfisher beer. We would recommended this venue to everyone,it is well worth a visit,we can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Once again many thanks to Rashid and all the dedicated staff especially the chef we will definetley head back here in the very near future

We have eaten here a few times and both the food and the service was once again excellent. Great menu choice for vegetarians too, in a relaxed atmosphere. If you want a cheap curry, this isn't it, this is on a different level, and this becomes obvious as soon as you enter. Zyka is in my opinion one of the best restaurants of its kind in the whole region. I'd I have one criticism, (and I do only have one) it is that the 2 person tables are too small. I find the whole dinning experience at Zyka to be superb. The restaurant itself is finished to a very high standard. The staff are as you would expect of a top class restaurant, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. As for the food, it has to be some of the most flavoursome I've ever tasted. There is a depth and richness to each dish that just lifts it above any other out there. And they will cater to any dietary requirements you may have. The food is also available to take out which is a bonus. All in all I thoroughly recommend Zyka to you. Enjoy!

After ordering,our started took one hour and a half to arrive with NO explanation,the food was average and the Staff seemed unmotivated and uninterested! When we received the bill there were numerous errors,the manager came across as very rude and unhelpful ! I have dined at Diwan -E-an over the years and it was exceptional,this dose not compare.

This restaurant offered a very fresh and tasty indian food. I am gluten free and cannot eat onion or garlic, which is not altogether easy as most curries are based on onion and garlic. The cook adapted and created a wonderful chicken rogan josh.

I found this place to be hugely overpriced. The food was OK I suppose - in as much as it didn't taste offensive but I certainly cannot recommend the place. It was over crowded downstairs and we didn't manage to catch the waiters attention as he was too busy chatting up a couple of ladies two tables away . Sorry. I wanted to like this place but I wont be going back.

We were surprised to be asking ourselves if this was the best Indian we've been to after we had had our starter. And main courses were all beyond expectations. Consistently interesting and the food was perfect. Service was exceptional.
