Went here on a Friday evening, it wasn’t busy but was still quite early. It had recently changed management, staff were very welcoming, service was attentive. I went for the mixed grill, portion size was good, and the food tasted very good. Grilled chicken, lamb and kofte. Came with rice, salad, chargrilled pepper, and extremely tasty chilli and garlic sauces. We were sat near the door and several people came in to get a takeaway, and the door kept being left open, which was very annoying as it was a cold day. I felt they were trying to be a restaurant and a takeaway and not hitting the mark at either, a shame as the food was very tasty.

The owner of this restaurant is very friendly. When I first came to Zuzu they weren't accepting card (they do now, don't worry!) and I forgot to bring cash, so I had no way of paying. He said I could come back and pay the next day, and I did! Incredibly kind of him. They offer complimentary nibbles with every meal, and it's one of my favorite things about the place. The mixed grill is particularly tasty, and the portion size is generous. I can never finish the whole thing! Reasonable prices as well for the food.

Met my brother on Holloway Road for a quick dinner and ended up going to Zuzu. This restaurant is just up from Tollington Road and should be alot busier than it was. Friendly greeting when we walked in that should be the norm but hardly ever happens. Anyway the 2 of us sat down and quickly went through the menu. Full of classic Middle Eastern - Lebanese dishes for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Went for the hummus to start which was a generous bowl of tasty hummus, warm pitta and a few dips. Just right to start. I went for the chargrilled lamb cutlets and rice and salad - another generous plate with 3 good sized cutlets well cooked with the fat crispy and flavored by the coals and the meat tender. My brother went for the Mansaf chicken which was half a grilled chicken with a sweet sauce and a mound of saffron rice (I think that was what the rice was cooked in). Both meals very good. Went for the Sangiovese wine which was ok and a reasonable price. When I come here next, think I'll go with the Lebanese wine that was on the short list. That's the only thing I would change as be very happy to eat the same meal. Finished with an espresso and some baklava.

Very warm welcome couple with attentive services the whole night during our dinner. Food was delicious and arrived fast. We had the lamb shank slow cooked and the lamb skewered. Staff was friendly and topped up our bread and dips without asking. Would recommend this place and for its food and great service.

Went here last night for our works Xmas meal. The food was great and really tasty. A lot to choose from. The hot and cold memes were lovely. Only letdown was the lack of choice of wine, but other than that it was great. Recommend giving it a go.

A friend who lives locally treated me to birthday lunch here recently - and it was great. They are now well over a few teething problems when it opened and I'll certainly be going back there. Not too busy on a weekday lunchtime, so no problem getting a table - although they deserve to be far busier, so don't assume this will stay the same! Very friendly and helpful service, starting with our freshly made fruit juices: the waiter was very apologetic that he couldn't provide the freshly squeezed melon juice - the melon wasn't good enough, so it was temporarily off the menu. I take this as a very encouraging indicator of their commitment to good, fresh food. So we both had the carrot, apple, orange ginger drink: generous serving and delicious - fresh fruit, and each flavour discernible. Go for it! My friend's vegetarian and we had an excellent mixture of the hot and cold mezze - hummus beiruty, batata harra (sort of middle Eastern patatas bravas), halloumi meshwi and foul moudamas (tasty broad bean dish - despite the name!). Portions were generous and very well made. Sharing these four filled us up, so no room for dessert, unfortunately - I was sorely tempted by the baklawa and mohallableh (creamy pudding), but good sense prevailed. Overall, a delightful experience - and an excellent birthday treat. Very highly recommended!!

When we arrived we was early for our booking but they was able to seat us, as it was a lovely cool evening we sat outside. The waiter was very quick and efficient, we didn’t have to wait long before we ordered our food and drinks. There was a belly dancer inside the restaurant, which we could also see from outside. When our food arrived we wasn’t disappointed, the starters and the mains was delicious. We both had the lamb cubes with rice and salad, it was so tasty. We loved visiting this restaurant and would recommend booking as we did (online) as it is very popular and busy. Staff was lovely and friendly, facilities was very clean. Overall a lovely place.

This is my second time going to this restraunt, both experiences was awful. First time my food arrives 1h 30min late and it was the wrong order. Me and my sister ended up leaving. They also tried to charge us £25 for for 2 drink and a small starter which arrivee roughly 40 minz later. All the customers that came after got served before us. The second time at this restaraunt my sister ordered fresh apple juice which tasted so bad and off definatly was not apple juice. My food i spat right back out as it tasted off. Chips were overly salty. Never again. They just can't cook. Paid for rubbish food by far the worst restaraunt ever

Welcome addition to Holloway - kind and friendly service, fantastic tastes in the starters, wraps and kebabs, all freshly prepared and with fruit and alcoholic drinks and cocktails to match. You can watch the chefs prepare and cook on the glass screened brasa without being smoked out. And proper prices too! Finished off with delicious complimentary mint and Chinese spiced tea - so good it almost makes you feel you’re sitting alongside a French Boulevard and not the Holloway Road!

The decoration is spot on and the staff friendly and child friendly. Got take out this time but will be back to eat in. The hot sauce side dip is super tasty even if you dont like heat you will be tempted. Portion size is good.. although im a rice fiend so may order extra.

Popped in on whim after football and was greeted warmly . I was impressed by the decor and layout This has clearly been an expensive project. There were two other tables occupied and many empty The three of us ordered almost immediately one lamb kebab and two chicken kebabs the bread and chilli sauce arrived quickly and was very well presented The restaurant became busier but not fully occupied. Our food then took a long time to arrive and when it did the lamb was burnt on the outside and over cooked my two other family members were unimpressed with their chicken When asked how the food was I gave an honest appraisal and to the owners credit he offered to give me a replacement meal which I declined . He supplied some complimentary drinks and gave me a card promising me a free meal should I return and he was very gracious I have seen previous reviews and it would seem that I have been unlucky Would I return? Probably not as this area is awash with similar restaurants including Gem in upper street (lamb cooked pink) I wish zu zu well as it is clearly a hit with other reviewers

Disappointing first & last visit here. Came with a friend for her birthday and had arrived early to an empty restaurant & we looked to sit at the first table we saw. Staff looked at us with disdain (we were nicely dressed) and came over to see if we'd reserved- we hadn't, so they said we couldn't sit as they needed that table (it was 515pm) in an hour for a booking. We asked if they could accommodate us and reluctantly they then suggested a table in a dark separate room at the back of the restaurant.. we said no and asked if we could sit outside (there were some unused tables) but that was also a no from Shawarma team. So we pointed at a barside table and asked about that and they eventually acceded. We ordered our food and cocktails and cannot fault the food - it is delicious. However the service was poor & unwelcoming from start to finish. Eg, the table we originally went to, was not inhabited till 630pm so much more than an hour after our arrival, we could have sat there. Midway through our meal we noted the staff organise the unused tables to accommodate another few pairs of friends - yet it was a problem when we asked for us? We were made to feel rushed before and during our food by the staff so when it came for the bill, I requested the discretionary service charge be removed from the bill as we felt there hadn't been a good customer service at all. The male waiter then argued with me and asked why & that it wasnt possible, so I tried to explain our reasons - especially since service charge is not obliged in the UK. He did not like this at all and spoke loudly over me and went to get his supervisor. She then refused to let us speak and proceeded to say loudly that her colleague was correct and we tried to explain our reasons and how we felt we'd been treated but she flat out refused to listen, constantly talking over us saying "sorry you feel like that" in a totally condescending manner and completely vindicating our rationale for removing the tip. I have not experienced such awful and unprofessional restaurant interaction before. I would recommend the food but because the service and treatment from the staff is so awful that I'd prefer to go to one of the many other places on that street. So disappointing especially as it could have spoiled my friend's birthday and this is an independent venue, and we prefer to support those instead of chains but I would not recommend this place at all.
