Loved our experience! I decided to come here for my last dinner in London before I move and it was amazing! Ghow was so friendly and took care of us through the whole experience. It’s really like no other. The food was amazing even tho we couldn’t see a single thing. Would totally recommend 🩷

Definitely an interesting experience to try, but the price to quality ratio was not there. The food itself was enjoyable, but I'd estimate at least half of the price you're paying is for the experience and unique element of the restaurant, rather than the food or atmosphere. The biggest issue for our party though was the atmosphere of the place. While the staff were very friendly and our blind waiter was accommodating, the dark room feels very cramped, and appears to have a lot of hard surfaces, so it was extremely loud both with guests, waiters, and service. It's necessary for the staff to speak as they move, so they don't bump into people and people know to expect them; and it's known that guests can sometimes be louder when they don't have visual contact with the person they're speaking to, but the volume, clattering, chaotic service, and raised voices really give the atmosphere of a fast food restaurant, rather than a relaxed dining establishment. For a venue that is focused on removing a sense, so heightening others, I'd expect more attention to be paid here. Focusing on improving the atmosphere with solutions such as, softer surfaces, calmer staff, quieter trolleys, using gentle bells to communicate movement, playing calming music, having fewer guests so there is more space between them, briefing guests before they're in the dark rather than hearing the same shouted explanation for each new group that arrives, or even having the bar staff downstairs operate in a calmer and more relaxing manner, would make a good improvement to the experience and make it more likely we'd bring people back. Right now, you're paying a relatively high price for the experience of being in the dark, with fast food quality atmosphere, food around the quality of your average pub, and generic wine. Perhaps fun to try once, but not something we'd revisit or recommend. Our advice, try one of the other dining in the dark experiences that exist around the world that pay more attention to the atmosphere, not just food in the dark. Or if you're going to go to this one, bring earplugs and/or book at the earliest time slot.

I was really looking forward to this experience for my birthday. I have to say, having been, I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The initial seating downstairs is a bit dull and lacking atmosphere, but not what you are there for. Once upstairs, we were introduced to our waitress, Manel. She was amazing. You are led to your table in the absolute pitch black and it initially feels uncomfortable. Once at your table, your senses soon kick in and you can find your way around the table, from the cutlery, to the water. It is exciting and interesting to sit and talk to your party in the dark. You can hear everyone else in the room talking and you notice your hearing is heightened. As each course arrives, you feel more and more comfortable with eating in the dark and it is fun to try to work out what you are eating. The food itself was quite good, but not exceptional. You are going for the experience of eating and being in the dark, but ultimately, it is still an expensive restaurant, I would have expected just slightly better, perhaps more imaginative? It seemed like they played it very safe. I did enjoy the food, so don’t want to be overly negative, just wasn’t what I was expecting. I personally wouldn’t go back, but not because it wasn’t a great experience. I really would genuinely recommend that everyone experience this place once. However, the food just didn’t quite do enough to make me want to go back for the experience, for the price.

Arrived and as usual in the capital, no warmth and no smile. Team seemed very rushed, although it didn't seem that busy. All watches/phones were put in lockers and we were given a seat to wait in an enclosed area. We had a drink and then we waited well past the stated start time. We got taken into the restaurant by Courtney our waitress, who single handedly is the reason why I am giving 5 stars. Every single member of the team should spend time with her customer service skills, the rest don't match up to her. I sat down in the dark and rather embarrassingly just couldn't cope with sitting in pitch dark (you can't see your hand in front on your eyes), I went into panic mode. Courtney took me out, and my family. I sat at the bar not knowing what to do, but decided to give it another try. Courtney was amazing, so calm and was so attentive. She came back a few times to see how I was doing and was very kind. The one thing that surprised me was the food, I thought the food would be more flavorsome that it would be with one senses removed. Think the menu could do with a tweak. The meal for 3 adults came to £231 which was high in my opinion considering we didn't have any fancy drink other than 2 beers. The experience of sitting in the dark was a truly spiritual experience however as made you really appreciate what you have. Some of the restaurant team really need to up their game though. Thank you however Courtney for a great experience.

A one-of-a-kind experience! Upon arrival, we were asked to store away all our devices – no phones, no watches – to fully immerse ourselves in the moment. From there, we had a couple of cocktails at the bar and then we were led into a completely dark dining room, where we couldn’t see a thing. The idea is to engage all your senses, especially taste and smell, making every bite of food feel like a new discovery. Our server for the evening was Ghow, who made the experience even more special. Ghow was calm, attentive, and so welcoming, guiding us through the dark with ease. Throughout the evening, Ghow gave us a couple of fun challenges that kept things interactive and added an extra layer of excitement to the meal. One of the most unique parts was that Ghow didn’t describe the food beforehand – we had to figure out what we were eating ourselves. It really forced us to pay attention to the flavours and textures in a way I’ve never experienced before. At the end of the meal, we were shown pictures of each dish we had, along with details about the ingredients. Overall, Dans Le Noir is a memorable and humbling experience. It’s not just about the food, but about how it challenges your senses and encourages you to connect with them in new ways. If you're looking for something different and exciting, I highly recommend it. And a big thanks to Ghow for making our evening so enjoyable and interactive!

An experience everyone should have at least once. To dine in complete darkness! Being an eye care practitioner, it was much more than a dining experience. Hats off for the concept. Special appreciation of our VIP waiter / butler Ghow. The appetiser was tasty the vegan main with a load of root vegetables could have been better. However, I understand without the visual stimulus the food would taste differently too. All the stars are for the experience and the concept!!

A very surreal and exceptionally unique food experience! My party were quickly welcomed into the waiting area where we managed to place our order for our drinks prior to entering the pitch black restaurant area. At first, it’s quite an adjustment to have one of your senses completely stripped however felt liberating once you were seated and comfortable. Our server Courtney was incredibly attentive and friendly to us and ensured we knew what was where on the table and made the experience that much more pleasant. Dietary requirements were catered for incredibly as noted in the quality of food, and my party had great fun trying to guess the flavour profiles of what we could be eating! Cutlery was available though due to the nature of the dining experience, fingers are much more preferable so prepare to get a bit messy! At the end, it was revealed what we had eaten which was very insightful. Highly recommend to try this at least once!

Having wanted to visit for years, Dans Le Noir turned out to be an incredible, new experience I enjoyed with friends as part of my 30th birthday celebrations. Our Restaurant Guide- Aliya- was so welcoming and bubbly; it felt like she was genuinely having fun being with us. Though I won’t talk about the food, it was all delectable. I started off using cutlery…but always relied on my fingers to ensure a clear plate at the end of each course! Dining in pitch black was very surreal: I liked having to rely on touch, smell and sound throughout the meal.

So much fun yet educational also to live in the shoes of a blind person for 2 hours. Ghow was our wonderful waiter who was friendly, polite and very funny 🤣 Unnerving to start with walking into the dark but Ghow made us feel safe and well cared for. When they say it’s dark, it’s pitch black! Literally once you walk through the curtain, you see nada. Our party of 4 opted for the 5 course chefs surprise. Tasty food, lovely big portions and although we guessed most of it, we were totally wrong on the main course. That is absolutely part of the fun. Trying to guess each dish, missing the food with your cutlery, missing your mouth or eating fresh air as the food fell off your plate. All 4 of us ended up using our hands. Messy but fun! All in all, a great experience I’d love to do again. Thank you Ghow and everyone who was so welcoming and kind! 🥰🥰🥰

We went here this evening and were served by the lovely Kate! Being in the dark and not being able to choose my normal foods is completely out of my comfort zone the restaurant even though it's the darkest place we have ever been in felt completely comfortable and it was enjoyable. Some of the food was not what I would usually like or order however I still cleared my plates and my partner did as well. Our waitress was friendly and very good meals coming out fast and plates cleared away promptly! Ww tried to guess the foods we had and were surprised afterwards by the things we guessed rightly and wrongly! A great experience! Thanks guys great job!

I went for the second time few days ago while my first was a year back. I do love the whole experience, the service is amazing and it was very much worth it. I do give 4 stars because, even if I did love what I ate, the food was “very simple” and direct, while the first time I went I remember the menu being more complex and interesting. Second reason we had a vegan in our group which was served a vegan menu. The vegan menu is basically the same as the basic menu with a substitute for the protein for the main course and no proteine at all for the starter. Being both menus presented as the same price it felt pretty disappointing.

It was our first time at this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed! Dining in total, pitch blackness was a little jarring at first, but you adapt quickly & it makes for a fun atmosphere. Our waitress Courtney was lovely and helped us to get our bearings. I won’t spoil the 5 course surprise Chef’s menu, but the food was delicious and would suit most people’s tastes I’d say. Wine was good. Pro tip: Eat with your hands – they have sanitiser. It’s way more fun! I was useless with the knife & fork though.

We dined at Dans Le Noir last night for a surprise dinner to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. I’ve been to the restaurant before, so I was really looking forward to him experiencing it for the first time. Unfortunately, the evening fell below expectations. As it was my boyfriend’s birthday, I left a note requesting a “Happy Birthday” singing and even called the restaurant the day before to confirm. However, when we arrived, they seemed to have completely forgotten about it. It wasn’t until we had already finished dessert that I brought it up with the waiter, asking if they could still play the song. His response was that he wasn’t informed at all and questioned why I hadn’t told him directly. This didn’t make sense to me, as it was supposed to be a surprise for my boyfriend. I couldn’t just bring it up in front of him. I was so disappointed by how it was handled and was crying on the way home. I didn’t even want to tell my boyfriend how badly they mishandled such a simple request. On top of this, the overall experience felt extremely rushed. After being seated, we were offered a drink. I specifically asked if we had time for it, and they assured us we did. However, once we moved upstairs to the dining area, everything felt hurried. I barely had time to finish my main course and felt like I was forcing myself to eat quickly just to keep up with the pacing. We couldn’t even finish our conversation because we were being rushed through the courses and, ultimately, out of the restaurant. For a meal that cost £185 for two people, I expected more personalised and attentive service. Unfortunately, this experience was deeply disappointing, and I left feeling let down.

A completely different experience & very humbled with the experience. How it felt to be blind for a couple hours, eating food and drinking while trying to figure out what I was eating with people on other tables chatting away. Your phones & any smart devices that give light are taken away and stored in a safe locker on arrival and you’re seated to have a drink before the experience begins. Personally I loved the experience as was worth every penny of it. Polite staff all round. Such a dope experience in my eyes & i would and will definitely be trying it again. I spent around £180 something as we went for the 3 course meal chefs surprise & a few glasses of wine. The food was I say 3/5, it wasn’t crazy delicious. Starter and desert for me was the best, main was good. We all know wine boosts up everything. Thank you again for this humbling experience. What I can say is that I’ve eaten and EATENNNNN there 🤭

Celebrated my 30th birthday here last night and WOW what can I say. A truly humbling, surreal and incredible experience, there aren’t enough words to describe. Meda was our waitress and from the moment we met her she instantly gained our trust, leading us to the table in the dark. Didn’t expect it to be as dark as it was, but you really can’t see anything! Meda was softly spoken, served and cleared away plates with such elegance and was so caring and aware despite being visually impaired herself. We had a couple of dietary requirements (coeliac and fish & shellfish allergies) and we couldn’t have been more at ease with dining here! A completely gluten free restaurant and substituted our fish. Food was tasty and it was interesting at the end to find out if you were right with your guesses of what it was you were eating! Would recommend to anyone to experience this and well worth the money. Me and my wife attended the restaurant last night and had a wonderful experience. Upon entering the dark room with our lovely host waiter Michael, it was so unusual. I can't even begin to explain how dark it was. It genuinely looked lighter when I had my eyes closed. Amazing skills by the visually impaired and blind staff to wait in such conditions with such skill. Really showed how much we take for granted and though the VI and blind staff probably don't want our sympathy - they were an absolute pleasure. The food was good, not that you can see it :p I'd highly recommend to friends and family as an experience.

A wonderfully surreal and humbling experience that we would absolutely recommend you try! Our server was Ghow, a delightfully polite and quick witted gentleman who helped guide us through each stage of the meal very clearly and comfortably. What cannot be conveyed in words is just how dark it really is, you absolutely cannot see your hands even if waved in front of you. Everything jumps to a whole new level when you cannot see what you're eating. Textures and smells become far more prominent. We found we ate much slower, and felt far fuller because of it. I opted to not use a single piece of cutlery for any course, a somewhat ferral approach, and just being able to feel the shapes of cut pieces and the different textures of mousses and sauces is so heightened that you start to really question and identify flavours. Genuinely a fantastic experience, thank you to all the staff! Front of house must also get a mention for being very welcoming, friendly and professional. PS - Lick the plate (nobody in the seating area will know!) PPS - You should liase with a neighbouring pub and host a premium speed dating night, it would go down an absolute storm!

Overall, interesting experience, but I’d say a bit too pricey for what you get. I found two (!!) bones in the fish starter, which felt pretty unsafe, especially since we were eating in the dark. Please be more careful - that’s not really okay for a restaurant at this level. We were lucky to go on a Monday, so it wasn’t too loud at first. But around 8:30 p.m., a really noisy group came in, and it got super loud. Luckily, we were about to leave anyway. Also, it might be a good idea to check ahead if anyone’s celebrating a birthday. That night, there were at least five birthday dinners happening, but the staff only sang for one person and got everyone to join in. It’s a nice gesture, but it would feel more fair if you did it for everyone celebrating. It was my partner’s birthday as well and no one asked and there was no option to indicate this.

This was indeed an "experience" as billed by those in front of house in the luxury of the light on the ground floor but I'm not going to give too much away or it may spoil the experience for you! Having to adapt quicky to piiiitttcchh darkness, relying mainly on fingers, so be prepared for the possibility of it becoming a little messy! We had a lot of fun trying to work out what we were eating! Getting to the table was the scariest part because you are acclimatising, but the servers keep you safe and help every step of the way. They explain where everything is, and then aside from bringing food, they leave you to enjoy the experience, while always remaining within earshot. Would highly recommend this restaurant. A completely unique experience and one that everyone should try. An evening in pitch black where you as the customer get a real insight as to what it is like to navigate life visually impaired. The food was very good but the service was exceptional, they cater well towards allergies and make you feel very at home in what can be a little strange when you first walk in. Ghow was our waiter and he made the experience fantastic for us. I’ve come away from this dinner with a new level of respect and appreciation not only for my sight but for visually impaired people.

H was brilliant. At first, I panicked because the entrance to the dinner was pitch black and Mt anxiety kicked in but she helped and guided me and my partner and in the end had a amazing time for my late birthday present 🎁 😊

My dad and I went to celebrate his birthday. It was an incredible experience! Our waiter, Ghow, made us feel at ease and it turns out it's very relaxing to eat in the dark (we both realised we had our eyes closed for a lot of the meal as there wasn't much point having them open). It was really interesting trying to guess what the food was (we got the meat completely wrong) and I would also thoroughly recommend having a glass of wine as your sense of smell is much better when you can't see! The food is good and there are interesting textures that you notice more in the dark - as other people have commented, I wouldn't say it was the best meal I have ever eaten, but that's not really the point; I would say it is more about the experience, and they were really good at catering to my specific dietary requirements. Ghow even got the whole restaurant to sing "happy birthday" for my dad, which was a lovely way to end the meal - it is very surreal to suddenly have dozens of strangers you can't see singing happy birthday all around you!

What a disappointment. We came here several times over the last few years and it’s just gone downhill. What was a luxury dining experience, encouraging you to guess what you were eating, is now cheap and cheerful roast dinner that happens to be dark. Staff were badly trained and didn’t seem to care about the experience. Food was dry and dull, each of our was very large and not optimised to be eaten without sight, large pieces of dry fish and chicken. So sad. Not at all what it once was

For the sake of experience, it was unique and unforgettable. But wouldn't go back as the price was way too high for the food you get. I'll rate the food 3/5. The starter was way better than the main. We ordered the two course menu for two people and had a couple of Negronies each and paid £156. Fabio, our guide was fantastic with a great sense of humour. I would rate him 5/5. For us it was even more surprising as we had no idea about the dark dinning cause we didn't check the restaurant details and thought we are just going to have some dinner! Anyway, worth to go once for the experience. Have no pictures to share as gave my phone at the entrance. Could have had it at least while we were drinking before the meal. It's London. Full of surprises. And that's why we like it.

Our experience at Dans Le Noir, was incredible, good food and even better service. Our waiter Gau was just fantastic, he was warm, welcoming, provided great service and it was really topped off by his humour. Eating in the pitch black was a unique, humbling and memorable experience.

Such a fun experience! Highly recommend for something a bit different & unique. Our waiter Ghow was so lovely and friendly & provided us with great service! Food was decent & well cooked but obviously it’s a surprise menu so things might not be to your exact tastes but that’s part of the experience.

This is by far the most unusual dining experience I've ever had. On arrival, our watches, phones and personal items were collected and safely stored in a locker; and the kept passed to me. We were invited to order a drink from the bar. There is a great selection to choose from!!! When your table is ready, you are taken upstairs to the restaurant. I totally over thought my expectations of the restaurant, and was quite nervous. The entire event was well executed. The food was delicious and it felt like a privilege to see rummages and information about what we had eaten after the meal was over. I was surprised about how manageable using a knife and fork was! Drinks are poured into shoet tumblers to minimise the risk of knocking them over. We quickly adapted to pouring water from the bottle in the middle of our table too. We opted for a 5 course meal with 2 wines. As each course arrived, you smelt the food before it was placed on the table. We had great fun guessing what we were eating. Courtney our waitress was fabulous!! She was an incredibly helpful and made our whole stay so comfortable! Highly Recommend!

The experience is unique! It's wonderful to experience what visually impaired people do every day. For a moment you switch sides and have them guide you entirely into a word they are familiar with. The food itself is average. I would have enjoyed something more uncommon or harder to guess. Michael, our waiter was more than exceptional! He makes you feel completely comfortable and protected, so polite and willing to go the extra mile. Service downstairs could improve, they were a bit slow and not the kindest. They also forgot to remove the digital watch of our neighbours, which certainly impacted the experience.

While the welcome was decent enough and our waiter Nilesh was lovely the food we were served, particularly the main course, was atrocious. I'm still feeling queasy. The surprise starter was a really odd mix of ingredients (identified them all. Couldn't understand why I had chunks of fish, cauliflower, mint, cherry tomatoes and pomegranate on a mushy strange tasting houmous.... Followed by even stranger fare. Slow cooked lamb with coffee and paprika my foot. It was so tough and unflavoured I thought for a while it was liver. Boiled, still very firm, lumps of turnip and carrot. Huge chunks of squash... Unseasoned. A few parsnip crisps on the top. I had to leave most of it and I'm still feeling queasy. I LOVE the idea of this restaurant. It was strange, unsettling and exciting to eat in the pitch dark. But you have to give your guests a feast for the senses guys. it could have been an absolutely outstanding experience. Nightmare school dinner throwbacks at the price you're charging... Sorry but it's not on. Your chef is lazy and doesn't care about what he or she is serving. Very very unimpressed.

I recently dined at Dans le Noir, and while the experience was unique, it didn’t meet my expectations. The concept of eating in complete darkness is intriguing and offers a different perspective on dining. However, I found that the novelty wore off quickly. Our waitress, Mandel, was a standout. She was attentive, friendly, and made the experience more enjoyable with her warm demeanor—definitely deserving of a five-star rating. That said, eating in darkness can be quite disorienting, and I can see how it might cause anxiety for some guests. While it’s an interesting experience to try at least once, I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone, especially given the high price. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I wasn't particularly impressed and likely won't return.

Unique and delicious experience. Was not sure what to expect as it was a gift but we both had a fantastic time. It was definitely dark but Roberto was a great server and kept checking in on us. It was lovely to chat with people on our table and never felt they were too close. Food was outstanding even though I had to feel where it was and had no idea what I was eating! It was nice to see the menu afterwards and quite a surprise to find out. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Would recommend to do this at least once.

Exciting concept but a very unpleasant experience overall. This was primarily because (1) the venue is very loud, (2) you are sat next to strangers, (3) service feels incredibly rushed, and (4) food is mid. Practically, I'm not sure whether they could adapt the venue to be more spaced out. Perhaps there is a solution where the other room is also used as restaurant space to space out the tables, alongside sending pictures of what we ate electronically, as well as paying on the way out. Very disappointed to have paid so much money when the execution of the concept is like this. It's too much money to pay when it's so cramped and loud. You'd at least expect your own small table. I think management are fully aware of the limitations but haven't made progress on improvements, possibly due to the practical difficulties given the concept and their venue?

I would describe this as an experience with food rather than a meal. The food is average at best. The fun part is guessing what you might be eating rather than the flavour being anything to write home about. I had hoped the loss of sight would increase the senses like taste but instead my only heightened sense was hearing. It was one of the loudest dining rooms I have ever encountered. Which combined with the darkness (an impressive level of pitch black with absolutely no hint of light) leaves you feeling somewhat claustrophobic. The most impressive part of the whole thing is the waiting staff. How they do their jobs is incredible. Certainly a novel experience but an expensive one for what it is.

In London, we went to the restaurant Dans le Noir? Inside, it's pitch dark, and guests aren't told in advance what they'll be served. Not being able to see the food makes quite a difference, and we had a hard time figuring out what was on our plates, although not completely. To avoid spoiling the experience for you, I won't reveal what we had – we got to see pictures of the food at the end. I absolutely recommend this place, not least to gain insight into the challenges that blind people face and hopefully to develop more empathy.
