5 Stars – A Truly Unforgettable Experience, Thanks to Kate I was honestly anxious about the whole idea of dining in complete darkness – it’s not something I ever imagined doing. But from the moment we were greeted, Kate changed everything. Her calm, confident energy instantly put me at ease. She guided us through the experience with humour, empathy, and genuine care. The experience itself was fascinating – a total sensory reset. You appreciate food in a whole new way when you’re not relying on sight. But what truly made the night unforgettable was Kate. Her ability to manage the room, keep things flowing, and make every guest feel comfortable was nothing short of incredible. Kate, you turned something I was nervous about into one of the best nights I’ve had in London. Thank you.

TLDR: The experience is amazing, do it. Full version: You don’t choose any of the food, everything is a surprise (you can choose standard, vegan or pescatarian and advise them of any allergies or intolerances which they took very seriously). You have the choice of 2 or 3 courses and we had 3 courses which I’d recommend. Now I’m the fussiest eater in the world and I hardly like anything. But I ate and enjoyed everything from all 3 courses - I cleared my plate in all 3 courses (I think, it’s a bit hard to be certain in pitch black). There is no light at all and you’re not allowed any devices at all that might emit light. Now the fascinating bit for me was at the end when they do the big reveal as to what you’ve eaten (in photos). I would not have chosen any of the dishes and when I saw the photos I would have said that I wouldn’t have liked any of them, but… I had already had them and loved them! So now I’m confused 🫤 They asked us not to reveal what the food was so that it doesn’t spoil the surprise for others. The hosts were all amazing and looked after us so well all evening.

Michael was our waiter and I just thought he was fantastic - so attentive, lovely lovely man. One of the best meals we've had in ages but Michael was the real hero. Couldn't recommend the restaurant enough - you'd think it's could be a gimmick but it's far from it!

I confess to being a little apprehensive upon receipt of our lift voucher. How can you eat in the dark. Well I found out! It’s been a long time since I had experienced such darkness and I had certainly not experienced what happened next. I will leave out the details as these are best discovered. However, I am left with a sincere sense of admiration for the concept and the staff. This should be on every ‘sighted’ persons bucket list.

the food is not tasty, the wine is diluted with water... it's not worth £87 UPD: To answer your question 🔻 To help us understand what happened and prevent similar issues, could you please tell us why the wine was not sent back or why our staff were not informed about your concerns with the food and wine during your visit? Answer: After the meal, we asked to bring the waiter for the wine that we drank! she replied that unfortunately we cannot open this bottle if you want to order another wine🤷🏻♀️🤯

Extremely delicious seasonal menu which kept us guessing! Once you get used to the darkness it’s a lot of fun, especially when sitting next to other diners. Our waiter Ghow was excellent and helpful guiding us throughout and getting us everything we needed. Good price too!

Incredible experience, Ghow was fantastic and very accommodating and supporting us. Food and drink were tasty and we guessed most of the menu items afterwards. The cocktails are tasty and absolutely not watered down, loved them. You will be seated most likely closer to other guests who leave/arrive at a different time than you so you will never get to see how they look like, which I thought was a fun element of the experience. Overall the experience feels quite exclusive and in my opinion a must try, an eye opener to how it feels to temporarily lose one of your sense. We will definitely come back! I highly recommend.

Cal looked after us and helped us adjust to a very unusual situation deprived of key senses. The food was delicious, portions modest but the idea of communicating with total strangers in the dark can be daunting but exhilarating at the same time. Met some interesting co-diners who made it all the better but I guess that’s hit and miss.

I bought this experience for my son's birthday after he said "I saw everything, nothing can surprise me any more"... But... It's was pp absolutely unexpected! Firstly we were seen in a bar and offered cocktails. After the explanation we were escorted to the restaurant. It was absolutely pitch black ! All waiters blind. First impression - panic. You try to concentrate and see at least something but .. nothing. After a few minutes you relax... Andy there all the enjoyment starts! Our waiter was a very nice woman, she was very attentive and friendly. Food -amazing!! Not every Michelin star restaurant can offer duck high quality dish! Our starter was sea bass tartrate with asparagus, peas shoots and artichokes. Main was venison steak with artichokes and white asparagus. And white chocolate martini... Omg....it was divine! Nice touch... Everyone in the restaurant was singing happy birthday to my son! So cute! My son was gobsmacked! After he said "now I saw everything, it will be the memory for the rest of my life"

One of my favourite things I have ever done! It really is 100% dark, you cannot see your hand in front of your face. It is very interesting how it stimulates the senses and forces you to concentrate and take initiative with eating and drinking. Unique and enlightening experience. When you arrive you put anything which may emit light (phones/smartwatches etc) into a locker and then you hold onto the key. You will be seated in the bar area for a drink until it is time to go through. If you get wine and still have some they will decant it from the wine glass to a tumbler for obvious reasons! The server will then lead you through the darkness, you put your hand on their shoulder. They will take you to your chair and explain to you where everything is. There is water on the table and you can pour it yourself. When the food arrives you need to figure out how to use your knife and fork by feel! It gets more difficult as your plate gets empty. We had the surprise menu and everything was delicious. I would love to come here again and I would absolutely recommend this experience.

The price is horrendous. We paid £160 for two 3 course menus and a wine. Everything tasted mushy and flat and 90% of the menu felt like chewed and spit out sponge with a side of guacamole. Our waiter Gauh was amazing, he made the experience enjoyable. But I need to say, it is not acceptable for my mother and I to retch while we eat our main course because it tastes so awful and us needing to laugh ourselves through the experience. I normally don’t write reviews, regardless if it’s bad or good, but this was so outrageously bad, that I couldn’t leave it like that. Please don’t go there, just sit in a dark storage room and eat mc Donald’s and you will have a better experience.

Definitely an interesting experience to try, but the price to quality ratio was not there. The food itself was enjoyable, but I'd estimate at least half of the price you're paying is for the experience and unique element of the restaurant, rather than the food or atmosphere. The biggest issue for our party though was the atmosphere of the place. While the staff were very friendly and our blind waiter was accommodating, the dark room feels very cramped, and appears to have a lot of hard surfaces, so it was extremely loud both with guests, waiters, and service. It's necessary for the staff to speak as they move, so they don't bump into people and people know to expect them; and it's known that guests can sometimes be louder when they don't have visual contact with the person they're speaking to, but the volume, clattering, chaotic service, and raised voices really give the atmosphere of a fast food restaurant, rather than a relaxed dining establishment. For a venue that is focused on removing a sense, so heightening others, I'd expect more attention to be paid here. Focusing on improving the atmosphere with solutions such as, softer surfaces, calmer staff, quieter trolleys, using gentle bells to communicate movement, playing calming music, having fewer guests so there is more space between them, briefing guests before they're in the dark rather than hearing the same shouted explanation for each new group that arrives, or even having the bar staff downstairs operate in a calmer and more relaxing manner, would make a good improvement to the experience and make it more likely we'd bring people back. Right now, you're paying a relatively high price for the experience of being in the dark, with fast food quality atmosphere, food around the quality of your average pub, and generic wine. Perhaps fun to try once, but not something we'd revisit or recommend. Our advice, try one of the other dining in the dark experiences that exist around the world that pay more attention to the atmosphere, not just food in the dark. Or if you're going to go to this one, bring earplugs and/or book at the earliest time slot.

I was really looking forward to this experience for my birthday. I have to say, having been, I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The initial seating downstairs is a bit dull and lacking atmosphere, but not what you are there for. Once upstairs, we were introduced to our waitress, Manel. She was amazing. You are led to your table in the absolute pitch black and it initially feels uncomfortable. Once at your table, your senses soon kick in and you can find your way around the table, from the cutlery, to the water. It is exciting and interesting to sit and talk to your party in the dark. You can hear everyone else in the room talking and you notice your hearing is heightened. As each course arrives, you feel more and more comfortable with eating in the dark and it is fun to try to work out what you are eating. The food itself was quite good, but not exceptional. You are going for the experience of eating and being in the dark, but ultimately, it is still an expensive restaurant, I would have expected just slightly better, perhaps more imaginative? It seemed like they played it very safe. I did enjoy the food, so don’t want to be overly negative, just wasn’t what I was expecting. I personally wouldn’t go back, but not because it wasn’t a great experience. I really would genuinely recommend that everyone experience this place once. However, the food just didn’t quite do enough to make me want to go back for the experience, for the price.

Arrived and as usual in the capital, no warmth and no smile. Team seemed very rushed, although it didn't seem that busy. All watches/phones were put in lockers and we were given a seat to wait in an enclosed area. We had a drink and then we waited well past the stated start time. We got taken into the restaurant by Courtney our waitress, who single handedly is the reason why I am giving 5 stars. Every single member of the team should spend time with her customer service skills, the rest don't match up to her. I sat down in the dark and rather embarrassingly just couldn't cope with sitting in pitch dark (you can't see your hand in front on your eyes), I went into panic mode. Courtney took me out, and my family. I sat at the bar not knowing what to do, but decided to give it another try. Courtney was amazing, so calm and was so attentive. She came back a few times to see how I was doing and was very kind. The one thing that surprised me was the food, I thought the food would be more flavorsome that it would be with one senses removed. Think the menu could do with a tweak. The meal for 3 adults came to £231 which was high in my opinion considering we didn't have any fancy drink other than 2 beers. The experience of sitting in the dark was a truly spiritual experience however as made you really appreciate what you have. Some of the restaurant team really need to up their game though. Thank you however Courtney for a great experience.

A one-of-a-kind experience! Upon arrival, we were asked to store away all our devices – no phones, no watches – to fully immerse ourselves in the moment. From there, we had a couple of cocktails at the bar and then we were led into a completely dark dining room, where we couldn’t see a thing. The idea is to engage all your senses, especially taste and smell, making every bite of food feel like a new discovery. Our server for the evening was Ghow, who made the experience even more special. Ghow was calm, attentive, and so welcoming, guiding us through the dark with ease. Throughout the evening, Ghow gave us a couple of fun challenges that kept things interactive and added an extra layer of excitement to the meal. One of the most unique parts was that Ghow didn’t describe the food beforehand – we had to figure out what we were eating ourselves. It really forced us to pay attention to the flavours and textures in a way I’ve never experienced before. At the end of the meal, we were shown pictures of each dish we had, along with details about the ingredients. Overall, Dans Le Noir is a memorable and humbling experience. It’s not just about the food, but about how it challenges your senses and encourages you to connect with them in new ways. If you're looking for something different and exciting, I highly recommend it. And a big thanks to Ghow for making our evening so enjoyable and interactive!

A very surreal and exceptionally unique food experience! My party were quickly welcomed into the waiting area where we managed to place our order for our drinks prior to entering the pitch black restaurant area. At first, it’s quite an adjustment to have one of your senses completely stripped however felt liberating once you were seated and comfortable. Our server Courtney was incredibly attentive and friendly to us and ensured we knew what was where on the table and made the experience that much more pleasant. Dietary requirements were catered for incredibly as noted in the quality of food, and my party had great fun trying to guess the flavour profiles of what we could be eating! Cutlery was available though due to the nature of the dining experience, fingers are much more preferable so prepare to get a bit messy! At the end, it was revealed what we had eaten which was very insightful. Highly recommend to try this at least once!

Ghow was our wonderful waiter who was friendly, polite and very funny 🤣 Unnerving to start with walking into the dark but Ghow made us feel safe and well cared for. When they say it’s dark, it’s pitch black! Literally once you walk through the curtain, you see nada. Our party of 4 opted for the 5 course chefs surprise. Tasty food, lovely big portions and although we guessed most of it, we were totally wrong on the main course. That is absolutely part of the fun. Trying to guess each dish, missing the food with your cutlery, missing your mouth or eating fresh air as the food fell off your plate. All 4 of us ended up using our hands. Messy but fun! I went for the second time few days ago while my first was a year back. I do love the whole experience, the service is amazing and it was very much worth it. I do give 4 stars because, even if I did love what I ate, the food was “very simple” and direct, while the first time I went I remember the menu being more complex and interesting. Second reason we had a vegan in our group which was served a vegan menu. The vegan menu is basically the same as the basic menu with a substitute for the protein for the main course and no proteine at all for the starter. Being both menus presented as the same price it felt pretty disappointing.

We dined at Dans Le Noir last night for a surprise dinner to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. I’ve been to the restaurant before, so I was really looking forward to him experiencing it for the first time. Unfortunately, the evening fell below expectations. As it was my boyfriend’s birthday, I left a note requesting a “Happy Birthday” singing and even called the restaurant the day before to confirm. However, when we arrived, they seemed to have completely forgotten about it. It wasn’t until we had already finished dessert that I brought it up with the waiter, asking if they could still play the song. His response was that he wasn’t informed at all and questioned why I hadn’t told him directly. This didn’t make sense to me, as it was supposed to be a surprise for my boyfriend. I couldn’t just bring it up in front of him. I was so disappointed by how it was handled and was crying on the way home. I didn’t even want to tell my boyfriend how badly they mishandled such a simple request. On top of this, the overall experience felt extremely rushed. After being seated, we were offered a drink. I specifically asked if we had time for it, and they assured us we did. However, once we moved upstairs to the dining area, everything felt hurried. I barely had time to finish my main course and felt like I was forcing myself to eat quickly just to keep up with the pacing. We couldn’t even finish our conversation because we were being rushed through the courses and, ultimately, out of the restaurant. For a meal that cost £185 for two people, I expected more personalised and attentive service. Unfortunately, this experience was deeply disappointing, and I left feeling let down.

A completely different experience & very humbled with the experience. How it felt to be blind for a couple hours, eating food and drinking while trying to figure out what I was eating with people on other tables chatting away. Your phones & any smart devices that give light are taken away and stored in a safe locker on arrival and you’re seated to have a drink before the experience begins. Personally I loved the experience as was worth every penny of it. Polite staff all round. Such a dope experience in my eyes & i would and will definitely be trying it again. I spent around £180 something as we went for the 3 course meal chefs surprise & a few glasses of wine. The food was I say 3/5, it wasn’t crazy delicious. Celebrated my 30th birthday here last night and WOW what can I say. A truly humbling, surreal and incredible experience, there aren’t enough words to describe. Meda was our waitress and from the moment we met her she instantly gained our trust, leading us to the table in the dark. Didn’t expect it to be as dark as it was, but you really can’t see anything! Meda was softly spoken, served and cleared away plates with such elegance and was so caring and aware despite being visually impaired herself. We had a couple of dietary requirements (coeliac and fish & shellfish allergies) and we couldn’t have been more at ease with dining here! A completely gluten free restaurant and substituted our fish. Me and my wife attended the restaurant last night and had a wonderful experience. Upon entering the dark room with our lovely host waiter Michael, it was so unusual. I can't even begin to explain how dark it was. It genuinely looked lighter when I had my eyes closed. Amazing skills by the visually impaired and blind staff to wait in such conditions with such skill. Really showed how much we take for granted and though the VI and blind staff probably don't want our sympathy - they were an absolute pleasure. The food was good, not that you can see it :p I'd highly recommend to friends and family as an experience.

Great meal, very good, however it takes a few minutes to adapt because it's very confusing not to see anything anymore Glad to have experienced it but I won't do it again

This place is incredible. I don’t love being in the dark with strangers but it really didn’t feel like there were many people around. Our host Micheal was amazing, guiding us every step of the way and letting us know what was going to happen before it happened. The food was lovely. It is pricey but for the experience well worth it. Would recommend to anyone.

A wonderfully surreal and humbling experience that we would absolutely recommend you try! Our server was Ghow, a delightfully polite and quick witted gentleman who helped guide us through each stage of the meal very clearly and comfortably. What cannot be conveyed in words is just how dark it really is, you absolutely cannot see your hands even if waved in front of you. Everything jumps to a whole new level when you cannot see what you're eating. Textures and smells become far more prominent. We found we ate much slower, and felt far fuller because of it. I opted to not use a single piece of cutlery for any course, a somewhat ferral approach, and just being able to feel the shapes of cut pieces and the different textures of mousses and sauces is so heightened that you start to really question and identify flavours. Genuinely a fantastic experience, thank you to all the staff! Front of house must also get a mention for being very welcoming, friendly and professional. PS - Lick the plate (nobody in the seating area will know!) PPS - You should liase with a neighbouring pub and host a premium speed dating night, it would go down an absolute storm!

This is a unique way to experience food and to gain the most from taste and aroma. Whilst the food didn’t seem to be excessively complicated, it was still Something I would recommend as an experience

Fantastic evening and definitely an experience you don't want to miss. Gow was an awesome waiter, the food that we had was amazing, even with some of us ending up wearing some of our dinner! A great night out we'll talk about for ages.

Overall, interesting experience, but I’d say a bit too pricey for what you get. I found two (!!) bones in the fish starter, which felt pretty unsafe, especially since we were eating in the dark. Please be more careful - that’s not really okay for a restaurant at this level. We were lucky to go on a Monday, so it wasn’t too loud at first. But around 8:30 p.m., a really noisy group came in, and it got super loud. Luckily, we were about to leave anyway. Also, it might be a good idea to check ahead if anyone’s celebrating a birthday. That night, there were at least five birthday dinners happening, but the staff only sang for one person and got everyone to join in. It’s a nice gesture, but it would feel more fair if you did it for everyone celebrating. It was my partner’s birthday as well and no one asked and there was no option to indicate this.

This was indeed an "experience" as billed by those in front of house in the luxury of the light on the ground floor but I'm not going to give too much away or it may spoil the experience for you! Having to adapt quicky to piiiitttcchh darkness, relying mainly on fingers, so be prepared for the possibility of it becoming a little messy! Food was tasty and interesting though might have been hotter. We were well served by Ghow, who it seems has dedicated much of his working life to guiding diners from the light and then back to the light. Sorry, can't tell you about the decor, I have absolutely no idea!

We had an incredible experience at Dans le Noir in London! Our server, Ghow, was absolutely fantastic—attentive, friendly, and truly made the evening memorable. The concept of dining in complete darkness was both unique and thought-provoking, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything exceeded our expectations, from the atmosphere to the service. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining adventure!

A strange but fascinating experience. I recommend you try it at least once. Once you take a seat and settle into the darkness, the rest of your senses naturally heighten, and the food was delicious whether that helped or not. Our server Katie was kind and super impressive, and Iliyan and Ivayla were wonderful hosts. We had a great chat and learned more about how the concept came about.

We had such a lovely time. It’s a unique experience, and to be in the environment with those that live life in darkness feels very special as you are experiencing what they do. It’s a great idea and the staff are truly lovely, forgive me if the spelling is wrong, but Aaliah was just so wonderful, fun and friendly. You NEVER get service like this in a regular restaurant from staff, she was just so fun and helpful and understanding. The food was great, and what’s nice is that you don’t know what you are eating, so it’s a conversation point to try and guess what you are eating and then the reveal downstairs after is great, to see how good you know your food. A wonderful experience and a great team.

An excellent place to come together as a team. Dining in complete darkness, with blind or partially sighted waitresses guiding us, was a truly humbling experience. It allowed us to build strong trust and connection with one another as we navigated the meal. It was fascinating to discover how our other senses took over, enabling us to help ourselves and each other. Our waitress was outstanding, seamlessly guiding us through each stage of the meal. We are truly grateful for this unforgettable experience.

Really enjoyed my visit to Dans Le Noir. The experience was really incredible. Learning to eat, drink and pour water in the dark made you more aware of your actions and slowed down the meal. The food was great and I had a lot of fun trying to guess what we were eating. Service was great from Michael. I would highly recommend people to come visit. It is great for special occasions

We came here last month as a Father’s Day gift and honestly we had the best time! The food was amazing, beautifully cooked and great portion sizes too, I would love to tell you more but the mystery is part of the fun! As for the atmosphere it’s an experience like no other we had the best hospitality Ghow took great care of us guiding us into the room and serving us - being in the pitch black really enhances your taste but most importantly makes everyone so much more social. I’ve never talked, discussed and laughed so much with my family on a night out before Thank you once again for everything Ghow! We’ve already recommended this to friends and family and look forward to experiencing again!

What a fab experience! We came for our work Xmas meal and had a lovely time! It's a crazy experience dining completely in the dark but worth it. We had the surprise chef menu and every course was amazing! It was a bit loud in the room when we first arrived which is a bit disorientating but by the end we were the only ones left (table was at 8.30) so you could then hear the background music.. big shout out to the staff especially our waiter Guillem who did a fab job. Highly recommend!

Definitely an experience, good food, can't see it, but you start focusing on the taste and noises around you. It's fascinating how much of our experience of the world comes from the visual domain, while we let our other senses be secondary most of the time

Excellent pre-dinner cocktails, we recommend! The meal itself was quite an experience. We had the 5 course Chef's menu, and while it had fairly 'safe' options, they were all delicious. We had a lot of fun trying to work out what we were eating! Getting to the table was the scariest part because you are acclimatising, but the servers keep you safe and help every step of the way. They explain where everything is, and then aside from bringing food, they leave you to enjoy the experience, while always remaining within earshot. Making sure your plate is empty of all the yummy food is the hardest part! I definitely recommend.

A lovely experience in a beautiful restaurant. You feel like you have just walked off the streets of Paris into a cool secret. The ambience is accompanied with stellar service, the kind that you only realise your glass is nearly empty because the waiter has already begun to top it up. The food was yummy with portion sizes you can appreciate.

The two people running this stall were hospitable kind and very skilled chefs. The food was a beautiful standard and was made in a timely manner. They have exceeded my expectations of an outdoor food stall. Would recommend. Definitely coming again !
