Zorba's in Reading

This place does do a good kebab but be careful !! Paid for a nice chicken kebab and because some one different was serving they claimed it wasn’t paid for.. I had the change in my pocket from the order!! had to catch bus so couldn’t argue. Tbh a bowl of coco pops when I got home was much better than anything this place could offer!

Avoid at all cost. This place is only ideal if you're out of options on a night out. The staff are extremely rude. The food quality is abysmal and extremely long waiting times. I've been to Zorba's numerous amounts of time but this has to be the worst experience I've ever had. 10/10/22 around 3am they allowed around 20+ people in and closed the doors (refusing anymore customers which seems fair as it was due to close). However, we were left waiting for 25/30 minutes to get served. Upon getting served... we were then informed they don't have any chicken, hardly any lamb, no cheese for the chips and pretty much a limited supply in which there were another 10/15 people behind me that were completely unaware of this issue. Getting served was painful. I was approached and asked what I wanted and was repeatedly ignored three times until they eventually took my order. I went to order three things but as soon as I said "meat and chips". I was instantly met with a card reader in my face for £8 even though I wasn't finished with my order. As mentioned at the start of this review. It's only ideal if you're out of options on a night out as mostly everywhere else is closed . If I could... I would give this place half a start but googles letting me be nice!

Ordered online - took ages for them to accept and then 5 mins before they were supposed to deliver they cancelled. Waste of time.

£9 for a kebab is absolutely ridiculous, only reason I paid it was due to my drunken state. You would think for the price you would get a quality kebab but it was disgusting. Doner meat was grey and tasted awful couldn’t even eat it and I can usually eat anything after a night out.

This is a disgusting venue. They use the same spatulas to serve your cooked chicken as they do to handle raw chicken!! And they argue when you challenge this. The staff are rude, unprofessional, and aggressive. Just look at the ratings of this venue! It’s recently been sold to a new owner who will be angry and rude to you. Unless you want to be potentially poisoned, eat elsewhere.

Went in for a kebab early in the evening. Ordered a small chicken shish with lamb doner meat. The chap explained that that would be £9. That's a lot of money and you're really looking for a quality product at that price. The shish went on the grill and was immediately very thinly sliced- now that speeds things up but doesn't taste as good. I was concerned that he hadn't switched on the doner spit. Once the chicken was cooked there was the classic cop out of when they put tongs into a warm pot and pull out doner meat that has already been cooked. Who knows when. Whenever this happens you know you're not being cared about as a customer. As always, the meat was springy, lukewarm and greasy. The addition of chilli sauce came from a bottle and was clearly neither fresh nor homemade. For £9 you'd expect fresh, homemade chilli sauce. The place isn't clean, the chef didn't care, the product was poor and it was very expensive. Not good at all.

Bland, literally tastes of nothing, over cooked I would never book a room here again, wouldn’t let us take friends up to the room, room was okay

What I wanted in a kebab after midnight: plentiful meat and salad. The salad was surprisingly fresh, too. Counting against it were fairly bland meat and sauce. Service was quick and the price fine, so I was mostly happy.

Just had food from here it was awful! Had some lamb kebab that tasted odd. The worst thing were the chips cooked in rancid fat!!!! They stank of rotten oil and were dripping in fat! Had to throw them in the bin. The staff also short changed me (only 10p but not good as they knew!) This place should be avoided at all cost!

I came in with an open mind. After 2 minutes this was gone. I want halloumi and houmous. Any restaurant that sells out of these is not good in my books

Me & My Husband popped in here after A night out @ the Hexagon.. He loved the kebab & the salad was nice with red cabbage .. I opted for chilli burger with cheese .. Was nice but the chilli sauce could have been a little hotter not much spice to it.

Just dire. Server has no desire to please customers, barely mumbles a word. "sauce or salad?" Sauce is in containers that could have been sat there for weeks for all we know. Salad doesn't look much more recently acquired either. Ordered a chicken Shish (after having a disappointing experience with a lamb doner in the past) You know what it's like - few sharpies and gotta have a kebab to sort your belly out for the morning! So yeah, the chicken Shish - slithers of chicken you'd expect from a chicken doner - not the skewered chicken fillet you'd hopefully be used to. Chips were re-fried or reheated or whatever - basically tastes like they'd been say on the fryer since last week. Place was empty yet the guy behind the counter can't even be bothered to walk 6 feet to wipe down the dirty black seating and at least give the illusion that this place is anything but a likely rat infested grief hole. Only came here as worryingly, the kebab house round the corner has closed leaving this as my only greasy option on the homeward wobble. Well christ, I will either die a starving drunken death in future or find a decent alternative, because this place is the complete, positive, absolute definition of the age-old adage 'the sh## hole' If you value your intestines, steer clear.

Turned up late Friday with my naan looking for food. We got two kebabs at an agreeable price and the service was polite and informative. Staff were friendly and the place was secure. Next day ordered some food from Just Eat and was the same good quality and delivered whilst still nice and warm. I recommend this as a good place to stop. I deal with naan a lot in Reading and therefore will be returning here reguarly

Absolute shambles. Ordered food 2.5 hours ago. Called half and hour ago and was told '5 mins'....here we are starving and looking like mugs. Have tried to call about 50 times since and the call has been ignored. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH....DO NO BOTHER

Accepted a delivery order and over 2 and a half hours they completely ignore the phone and no sign of the order! Don't even flatter yourselves in calling yourselves a takeaway delivery service! If there was zero stars I wouldn't even give you that

Came here after drinks last week in town and was so disappointed. Paid £5 for a pink burger and denied a refund. Avoid eating here unless you like eating uncooked meat.

The perfect end to a few beers in Reading is a cheeky visit to Zorba's for a portion of the best ever cheesy chips known to man! Go there, you won’t be disappointed!!

Solía ser brillante. Es que la nueva administración quizás? Nunca he tenido alguien quemar carne kebab antes y el más humilde porciones conocida al hombre. Dicho esto la mayoría de ninguna manera fuimos bin así menos residuos que si ha dado un tamaño razonable kebab. Espero que esta visita fue un fallo ya que me encantó este lugar. El peor kebab que he comido.

This establishment has been around for years, and never disappoints when it comes to a late night meal, always a buzzing atmosphere inside food is on point, and you normally get served very quickly, god bless zorbas 👍🏾👌🏾👏🏾

Normally by the name you could say that this fast food restaurant has Greek fast food. And they don't. Donner and chicken is not Greek style and there is no pita wrappers or tzatziki etc

Llegó la última noche, después de un par de vodkas en la ciudad y necesitaba algo de comida. Por menos de 10 libras que me dieron la mayor kebab que creo que he visto y una hamburguesa y patatas fritas - Eso es valor increíble en la lectura. Servicio muy amable, con la mujer (creo que griego) muy amable y nos aconsejó dónde podía coger el autobús y de la estación. La comida estaba bien preparado, sólidos, mezclados con muy muy buena kebabs de pollo (buen tamaño rodajas). La hamburguesa estaba bien preparado y ella puso un huevo frito (no en el menú), porque me preguntó. El lugar está limpio, con mesas y bien decorado.

Went on a night out in Reading and to be honest, it wasn't the best, but my partner and I decided to console ourselves with a Kebab. We popped into Zorbas and it's one of the best kebabs I have ever had. So much so in fact that we came back the next day for another. These guys are way above the competition. Friendly staff too, especially the owner

Went in Saturday and asked if the lamb donner was 100% lamb as I have a chicken allergy. He said yes it was 100% lamb.So I ate it and found out that it does have chicken in it. And spent the whole night in pain and been sick.Cheap lamb kebab meat has chicken in and illegal to say it's 100% lamb when it isn't. Reporting to trading standards

Came here at three am, was packed but with four or five people serving they rattled through the orders.Food isn't the cheapest but is reasonable.Food was good, and tasty, and well cooked.Is a little cramped in here though with a lot of people inside.

Friendly service and reliably good food - perhaps a little on the expensive side, but the portions are always generous and they get it out quickly enough that you're rarely kept waiting. Would recommend.
