This was actually an online order but excellent all the same and good value for money. Highly recommend the spaghetti carbonara and chocolate pudding. Also it's the little things that make up the big things so Zizzi also gave a complimentary freebie which was very nice. Delicious.

We had been here before, a few years ago, and loved a couple of dishes they did. Unfortunately, the chicken dish I was looking forward to was no longer on the menu, and nothing similar even. The waiter was clearing and cleaning tables quickly after people left, but they obviously need more staff, as we were waiting ages for our food and drinks orders to be taken, too busy cleaning I guess. We ordered the mozzarella and caramelised onion garlic bread starter, it was very tasty, but only a third of the bread had the cheese and onions on, it was mostly dry bread. Then we had a calzone, which arrived on a chopping board for some ridiculous reason, it was burnt on top too. I had the margarita pizza, which I had requested had added mushrooms, caramelised onion, chicken and prosciutto. Unfortunately, the prosciutto was missing from the toppings, and at £2.50 a portion I really would have expected more chicken too. Nobody did a check back, and nobody asked if we wanted more drinks. There was only 3 other tables of customers having lunch when we were there, and a waitress and waiter on duty, I kept having to flag the waitress down, even though it was the waiter who seated us. It’s unbelievable 2 staff couldn’t manage to give good service to just 2 tables each! I dread to think how long the wait would be here if they were busy. The lady behind the bar was absolutely lovely, and helpful too. The food tasted ok, but 1 starter (shared), 1 main course each, plus a couple of drinks came to nearly £70! Just 1 glass of wine was nearly £9, even a small can of Diet Coke costs nearly £4, it’s shocking. Obviously management do not care, they haven’t responded to any reviews here, or addressed any of the issues raised by customers. I am amazed how this place is still open, lots of better choices nearby, we certainly won’t bother returning! There’s supposedly an accessible door down a filthy cobbled alley at the side of the restaurant, but it’s impossible to enter through it because there’s no room to get a scooter past the 2 doors. You need 2 people to hold the doors open as well. Since eating with this experience we went again, Jack was very helpful, great waiter. Still need another member of staff serving here though. It would have been nice to sit on the lower level of the restaurant, as I am disabled and struggle with stairs, but the instructor posted at the front door said it wasn’t allowed. It was very warm on the upper level, would have been much more pleasant to sit on the lower level, ho hum. I guess customers don’t have a choice of whether they want to be comfortable or not, pity. Lovely pasta nibbles, very tasty. The prawns starter was delicious, but (having had it before) best in a dish, not hanging on a skewer getting cold in the breeze. The caramelised onion and cheese garlic bread was nice, but as usual, unfortunately it’s 50% dry bread. The calzone on the specials board wasn’t great, lots of revolting fatty lumps of pork in it, hardly any chorizo too. Carne picante is way better. All in all, it’s hit and miss here, not a great variety of choices regarding the pizzas, all very similar. There’s not even an option to add prawns, even though one of the advertised pizzas has prawns on it. Offers are good, but I think the reason it’s usually very quiet here during the week is because it isn’t good value for money.

Overall the food didn't live up to the blurb. I enjoyed my main of king prawn pasta, but the starter and dessert were disappointing - neither of these lived up to their blurb! The black forest fondant was not hot enough and my friend's was solid in the middle, plus far too much cream. The cherry mocktail was too sweet, the cherry was overpowering and the other flavours didn't get a chance. The staff were polite and helpful. The aircon was not working and it kept getting quite cold in the restaurant which was annoying! Overpriced for what was really quite underwhelming food and nothing very special about the experience! Save it for when you need some basic and reliable with children!

Overall a good meal. Pleasant and efficient service, good ambience and mostly the food was good. My husband however, who was brought up vegetarian and has never eaten meat, ordered vegetarian pizza only to find pepperoni on it. The pizza was taken off the bill and we were offered a couple of drinks but for a pure vegetarian, it’s an extremely unpleasant experience.

Me and my partner visited this restaurant last night. I made a reservation for 6pm. Unfortunately our bus did not turn up and we had to get a later one. I phone the restaurant at about quarter to 6 and told them we should be there by quarter past as we are running late and I apologised. The woman I spoke to said 'that's absolutely fine'. We ended up getting there at 23 minutes past 6. I acknowledge we were late and I apologised to the woman who greeted us as soon as came in. Her response was "you are late, after 45 minutes I will need to give your table to someone else. Your reservation was for 6pm and it is not 23 minutes past". I was fully aware of this, hence, why I apologised as soon as I set foot in the restaurant. I was gobbed smacked at the tone of voice. We were then rushed over to a table where she walked so fast I couldn't keep up and some menus were hurriedly shoved down on to our table. We then sat there for 5 to 10 minutes. I thought no one would come to take out drinks order for a long time probably and as I hadn't liked the attitude when we received, I decided to leave. The same woman approached me as I was on my way out and asked if everything was OK. I responded no we are leaving to which she replied 'let me show you something'. Presumably she wanted to show me there was a booking in after us hence why they needed the table back. There is a way of saying things though and treating customers. I'm afraid if I am spoken to like I am an inconvenience from the instant I set foot in your business , I won't come back. You've lost a customer Zizzi as there are plenty of other decent restaurants out there.

Came for a Christmas work do on a busy Friday night! Table of 10 Some aspects of service were a bit slow but it was very busy and we were a demanding group! , we were a loud table and our server didn’t shy away from our table and made us feel well looked after: Even finding a the time to take a group photo of us whilst trying to clear several tables The food was good, a few problems (no prawns in the prawn linguine) , but quickly rectified, as you would expect But made all the better from the smiling service staff working so hard The Serving staff made our night! Was greeted by manager and had to wait at least 5 minutes to be sat down even though we booked, drinks came quickly. Shame about the rest of the night! Starters we had chorizo and mozzarella garlic bombe which was lovely and warm and also had stone cold prawns and cold garlic butter which was very disappointing. For mains we had pinoli pizza that came out 5 minutes before the pasta which then didn’t help the pizza stay warm as it was already fairly cold and felt like came straight out of a fridge and a salmon pasta which was hot but salmon was dry unseasoned and the courgette included was soggy. Desserts we had tiramisu and brownie which were both way too sickly but was okay. At the end of the night i went to pay and then was told by our waiter that I couldn’t use Tesco club card vouchers as we chose the 3 course meal but was NOT told we couldn’t use them at the beginning of our meal. Very disappointed about that as we chose this restaurant because we had the vouchers. Overall, was a disappointing meal with mediocre service and hopefully next time it will be better.

Absolutely dreadful experience, service was absolutely awful. This is the most amateur restaurant experience I have ever had the unfortunate experience in. Rude, lazy, and to be honest my expectations weren’t high in the first place but how they get away with it is another question and people pay !! Do yourself a favour and don’t eat here….they haven’t got a clue and should be done under the trade description act. Just to mention a few errors…glasses filthy , lipstick still on the rims, dirty un rinsed. Meals arriving with no cutlery served on the table, no napkins. Had to get our own cutlery twice, no apologies. This excuse of a restaurant is a joke…..AVOID AT ALL COSTS YOU WONT ENJOY IT.

Way overpriced for such bland food. The service wasn't great given the place was empty when we arrived. We each had something entirely different in our family group, but each dish was tasteless, and losely thrown together. When Sainsbury's ready-meals taste better than your food for a fraction of the price, you might have a problem. Will never eat here again, nor recommend. Just terrible.

Zizzi is but a shadow of itself. A very poor meal. Vegetables cold. The Milan Chicken was not a slice of chicken breast but some sort of chicken burger or reclaimed meat slice. Really awful - don't bother with it - I certainly will not!

Food was nice and service was friendly. It's very expensive full price for what it is but we had a discount voucher so it was good value. The most disappointing thing is the lack of vegan pizza options. Unless you want processed items like vegan meatballs on it (which my son didn't) or a plain margarita you have to create your own and that works out expensive as the extra toppings are £1.75 each and not eligible for any discount. Most groups will have a vegan and forcing them to pay more than everyone else for a similar dish isn't a good business model these days.

Staff we really accommodating as we were very late due to stand-still traffic on the motorway. Annisa (Anne-Isabelle) was amazing with us - so patient and friendly, went above and beyond to find us a table we wanted, give us menu recommendations when we weren’t sure. Helped us with a receipt issue to enable us to use the vouchers we had. Really chatty and friendly and made the experience for us! Thank you 🤍🤍

Late lunch on a very cold day in Winchester. So silly cold today that they had radiators to help customers. Asked for one to be moved closer... no problem! Anyway, as usual the food was excellent, the service nicely attentive, and the food... excellent! Friendly staff, and in the cold they were dressed in some nicely warm clothing. Honestly though, a nice place for a relaxed pizza and a couple of glasses of wine. Highly recommended!

Visited yesterday for an early dinner. We'd visited numerous times previously (though not for some months) and everything was fine. but things seem to have gone downhill since then. We were welcomed by a gruff, disinterested staff member and shown to a table. After a long wait for a drinks order to be taken, we then had another long wait before anything arrived: in the fact the drinks took so long that they eventually came sometime after the food. The strange thing was that there seemed to be quite a few staff dashing about, but everything continued to move very slowly. Service continued to be poor, e.g we were asked if we would like grated parmesan pepper, etc and said 'yes please' but nothing ever appeared. We were asked if we would like to see dessert menus, said 'yes please' but nothing appeared so we borrowed a menu from another table. Food was pretty good (though smallish portions). It's a great venue in a lovely old building, but something - presumably hands-on branch management - seems to be going wrong at the moment.

We booked Zizzi in Winchester for a table of 6 as we were visiting the Market. One of our party pulled out so 5 of us went. We explained this to the lady who we first saw upon arrival, she disappeared and came back, took us through and proceeded to put 5 people on a table for 4. My husband was awkwardly squeezed onto the end. I pointed out that there wouldn’t be enough room for all our plates during the meal and asked to be moved. She proceeded to tell me that they are trying to squeeze as many people in as they can. I said I wasn’t happy with this and again asked to be moved to the laid 6 person table next to us or at least a 5 person table. She came back with ? the Manager who said, begrudgingly, he’d move us to the table for 6, and he reiterated they’re trying to squeeze in as many as they can. He had no understanding of the fact that his staff would not be able to get all the plates and glasses for 5 customers on a table for 4 !, and, frankly, didn’t seem to care. The first waitress who came over to sort out our drinks was lovely, sadly I didn’t get her name but she was very polite, helpful and friendly. She also took our food order and brought part of our starters out. The Manager brought some starters out, rushing so much that as he came down the stairs one of the rolls flew off the plate and landed by another customer - he was oblivious to this - luckily our original waitress saw it and got another roll sorted. When our mains came out our point was proven - no way would the poor waitresses have got our 8 plates of food and 5 glasses on a 4 person table! I ordered another drink via a different waitress who served our mains, this never arrived, so we had to make sure we weren’t charged for it at the end. The food itself was very well presented and tasted very good, no complaints there at all. My opinion is that Management need to worry less about squeezing people in and worry more about the customers they can get in properly. I, personally, would not advise going here because if I’m spending my hard earned money I expect the Management Team to actually care about the customers. The only thing that saved them today was our first waitress who was fantastic. Management need to care more for their stressed out waiters and waitresses who were taking the brunt of complaints- we were not the only ones with issues today. Too many people being squeezed in without having booked first causing the waiting staff to be stressed and rushed off their feet. As we were getting ready to leave they came to clear the table before we’d even got our coats on. Not a good experience.

Poor service, slow and careless. We went there for dinner whilst visiting the Christmas markets. As we walked in we were seated quick which was nice, but then seemingly forgotten about as we never saw that particular waiter again and didn’t get the chance to order a drink with him. 15 minutes went by and someone finally came over and asked if we’re ready to order food and we asked to order a drink first. We ordered our drinks and then waited another 15 minutes for them to arrive, in the meantime the waiter came back to take our food order. When the drinks arrived they were fine but they took way too long to arrive, and my beer glass was dirty but I just drank out the bottle. The starters arrived and mine was very nice, great food, except my partner was given the wrong starter instead of what she ordered. They corrected it but she only got to start eating when I’d finished my starter, or it would have gone cold. They seemed to forget about us again, never once came over to ask if everything was okay, and never gave us any cutlery either so we had to go find some ourselves from another table. It’s at that point you start to realise the service is slow and not good, and it’s not going to be a good experience. After we had both finished, no waiter came over to us to clear our table, ask how it was etc, nothing. Around 15 minutes after that our mains arrive still with dirty plates on our table, so they had to awkwardly put our food down and pick up the plates. Then even the table next to us spoke to us and said how they had been waiting ages for their food, and it was just such slow service since they’d arrived. They weren’t having a good time either. The mains were great, good food and tasty which was a relief to know that at least the chefs cared about their jobs as the waiters didn’t. Again not one person came back to check if our meal was okay or we needed anything. We were never again offered any more drinks apart from the start where we asked to order them. You couldn’t feel less welcome if you tried. 20 minutes had gone by and no one had cleared our plates still, it was just awful and so slow. It got to a point where I was trying to wave to the waiters to come over and that failed so I had to go up to one and ask them to clear our table and if we can have our desserts yet. Then she came over and took our plates away (after we literally had to ask her). Again didn’t ask at all how the food was, or if we needed any other drinks, despite our glasses being empty. Our desserts came and they were nice again, except my partners had a hair in it. So that was ruined. The whole experience which could have been lovely was just made awful by slow service and waiters/waitresses who don’t care about their jobs or customers and make no effort for the most simple customer service skills. The table next to us then were trying to pay their bill and found they had 2 extra random drinks on their bill which they hadn’t ordered and it seemed difficult for them to explain to the staff they they didn’t order those drinks and didn’t want to pay for them. Again, no one bothered to come over and ask how our desserts were, if everything was okay, if we would like a drink etc, you can just tell they couldn’t care less about you and were more interested in chatting to each other. Trying to get their attention was impossible. We sat there for 15 minutes after finishing our desserts with no attention or service from them, and so we just wanted to pay and leave. But again it was impossible to get the attention of the waitresses. So we started putting on our coats and getting ready etc to give them a hint, and then finally a girl came over and just said ‘have you paid yet?’ With not a care in the world that we STILL had dirty plates on the table not cleared etc. we quickly paid, said no to adding a tip which they clearly didn’t deserve, and left. It just puts a bad taste in your mouth. We picked Zizzi as we like it where we live, yet we’re completely let down by the staff who couldn’t care less about customers or serving and have no customer service skills whatsoever, and can’t be bothered to do the bare minimum to make people feel welcome and make them enjoy their time. An evening which was supposed to be so nice was just ruined by going to this restaurant, and had I seen the other reviews before hand I never would have gone to. Such a shame, just disappointing and won’t ever be going back or recommending.

We visited Winchester for the day to celebrate a birthday and decided to eat at Zizzi. Yes, we didn't book as it was a spontaneous visit, but the person with the tablet took a very UNFRIENDLY approach not just to us but to other customers who actually had booked. It wasn't too busy on that day, and after some time told us to sit at a table and finish in 1 hour. She urged us in a very impolite way and I kept feeling her presence at around 45 minutes, by the time we were very nearly finished our meal. She sat us down at a VERY COLD AREA (probably the coldest part very close to the door) right in front of the desk. They charged me an EXTRA £4 as tips which is absolutely ridiculous, and there was NO THANK YOU FROM ANYONE at all. Food was also very overpriced, and we were billed even more anyway! Toilets were VERY FILTHY with only 1 working! And that toilet has run out of paper.. Food quality has also GONE DOWN A LOT. We were quite disappointed after our bland lasagne and our plain margherita pizza costing a ridiculous £14. This is very sad as Zizzi used to have much nicer food and had a friendly atmosphere but that is GONE. There was one nice waitress who took our order but that was it. Overall the experience was very disappointing, would not recommend Zizzi in Winchester, especially on special occasions.

Came here on a weekday lunchtime. It wasn’t very busy as we arrived at 12pm. The food was lovely, great vegan pizza. Unfortunately the service let the place down. The waiter looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. It took a long time for our bill to be presented to us when we really needed to leave. I would still return, for the food alone. But wouldn’t make plans to be anywhere quickly afterwards!

we popped into the newly refurbished restaurant to grab a couple of pizzas for dinner - were were told on arrival due to low staff on shift that we would be expecting a 20/30 minute wait on food which we were okay with. Seated within 5 minutes and a drink and food order taken within 15 minutes, which we felt was acceptable, given what we'd been told on entry. Food took 55 minutes to arrive and when it did, my pizza (the 60th birthday special advertised on all their boards) had 50% of the toppings missing. i informed the server as she tried to put the plate down and the pizza was taken away whilst my partners pizza sat getting cold on the table. My pizza was brought out 5 minutes later, the server said it was my pizza, they had just left some of the toppings off but this had been corrected. When i took my first bite, the pizza was stone cold - clearly the exact pizza that was taken away and not even warmed back up. noone came to ask how the food was during the meal, so we sat, an hour into our hunger eating 2 stone cold pizzas. At the end of teh meal, we waited 15 mins for the plates to be cleared so that we could talk to the server, noone came. When we walked to the till to pay, again, we were not even asked "how was your meal". Its such a shame that PIzza Express have clearly invested in a nice looking restaurant but arent investing in their staff training on how to operate a restaurant so that your diners return. The meal was so disappointing and even with a 25% off via taste card, was not worth the aprox £40 for 2 cold pizzas and 2 soft drinks. There are far better pizza restaurants in Winchester and we'll never go back.
