Three Joes Sourdough Pizza in Winchester

We had a lovely lunch here - friendly staff, fast service, lovely pizza, and great to see a few vegan options.

I visited on an empty Monday night so there was little to no atmosphere not the fault of the staff. But we waited 10 minutes before anyone arrived to greet and seat us. Staff were polite but service was pretty slow and my aubergine parmagina pizza was pretty bad. Aubergine wasn’t cooked and the whole thing lacked flavour. Had enjoyed in past but experienced long waits. Won’t be returning.

Really impressed..... Clean, tidy & good food for a pretty reasonable price. Yes, it's only pizza but in the grand scheme of pizza it's the best I've had in a good while. Well worth a go Staff really friendly & welcoming as well Full marks three Joe's Winchester!

My sisters and I had pizza salad and macaroni cheese, all meals were delicious!! We were served by a friendly waiter. Service was great and the Joe we met was professional, helpful and friendly!! We liked it and will call again!!

Delicious sourdough pizzas. We were able to get a table on a weeknight without a reservation but would recommend booking normally as it was quite busy/buzzy.

Great sourdough pizzas. If you've over done places like Zizzi, then try here! Good deserts and the kids love the Orea milkshakes!

Went in for lunch and the pizza was absolutely lovely, quite possibly the nicest pizza I have had out. Everything tasted fresh, full of flavour and not over salted. The milkshake was unreal! An absolute must.

The food here really makes this place somewhat of a "hidden" gem. Just tucked away opposite the cathedral it boasts mainly fresh sourdough pizzas (other options are available including vegan/veggie) I had a strawberry milkshake with my pizza and I don't know what was more enjoyable! Paired with a lovely outside seat in the sun watching people visit the cathedral. The servers were extremely polite and helpful although we did have to wait a little to be greeted and to get the bill still; 5 stars from me.

Eaten here before and seemed to be great value for money (check out the old menu photos for reference). Prices have increased quite dramatically and have to say the pizzas this time round were just not as good. Not bad, but we certainly weren’t impressed like last time.

Very good pizza and which was clearly popular with several people. A bit of a wait for a table, but the pizza arrived quickly when we ordered. Attention to what we thought was olive oil, but which was chili oil and was very strong. Charming premises and pleasant service. Recommended.

Was okay but nothing special. The staff was friendly! The pizza arrived fairly quickly but did not stand out from other pizza places' versions.

Went there yesterday for a late lunch, four of us. The location was very cute, in the side street off the high street in Winchester. The service by Benji was at a very high level of politeness and kindness, overall experience was really comfortable and happy, thank you Benji 😎

So great location , staff helpful and friendly but the pizza was a real disappointment. Not enough topping so once you took a couple of bites out of a slice you were left with some dry dough which was tasteless , no sauce or topping or cheese . Not inexpensive either

Pizza was good if a little cold. Came with 2 kids, my pizza was barely warm and the kids pizza was super hot..!! The quality of the food is good but to be honest mediocre service and very very slow. Must have waited a good 45 minutes for a like warm pizza.

Great place to socialise and eat pizza

Lovely pizza restaurant with a great vibe. Pizza is chewier than regular pizza as its sourdough base. Offer a variety of toppings and even a gluten free base. We also had dessert including their home made lemon cheesecake which was really lovely. Great spot with views to cathedral gardens in summer. Definitely recommend

Visited with friends a week ago, for the first time. I had the cajun chicken pizza, which ticked all the boxes- good amount of chicken, lovely spice level, thin base of pizza. The garlic mayo was to die for! My only niggle was that all our pizza bases were very black in places, which is something I really hate. My base wasn't as bad as my friends' bases, and they left most of it, which was a shame. The bases obviously need less cooking. I loved the pizza so much, I will be going back, but I am a bit wary about what my pizza base will be like!

Good food but an extra £2 charge was added for a gluten free pizza. This was not mentioned at all when ordering. Apart from that the food was good.

Best pizza we have had for a long time - delicious!

I’ve been to Three Joes several times over the years and it never fails to deliver amazing pizzas. They’re always delicious, with generous toppings and extremely fresh. The restaurant itself is in a beautiful spot, just opposite Winchester Cathedral, and although you can book, they’ve always been able to squeeze me in without a reservation as the restaurant is big. They also have beautiful outdoor seating in the summer. If you’re after great pizza in Winchester, you won’t find much better than Three Joes!

We went yesterday for dinner and booked a table for 8.30 pm, the table was not ready outside thus we waited 40 minutes for another table to finish, which is fair, until a group of 7/8 people arrived without any bookings and the waiters went to take 2 more tables and put them outside for them to sit and order! After 40 minutes we finally seated and ordered straight away because we knew what we wanted. They brought us the pizzas and forgot the cutlery, we waited for the cutlery, and obviously the pizza started to get colder... The pizza per se, was bad, dry and looking like a cracker, we couldn't even cut it with a knife... A very bad experience and surely as Italians, we will never go back there...

Excellent pizza’s and very nice staff. We liked the pizza with caramelized unions. Was no problem at all to share one pizza and salad for late lunch with the two of us.

We had read a review saying best garlic bread ever, so we just had to go and check it out. It didn't disappoint! The garlic bread was superb. The camembert was also incredible and housed in its very own bread bowl! We sat outside, glorious sun, lovely setting. Will definitely be back.

Great food and friendly service. I had olives, mac & cheese and a brownie for dessert. All were lovely, and they have a nice low alcohol beer too.

One of the best pizza I have ever eaten

Plus. Good side salads, tasty pizzas, efficient delivery. Minus. Inattentive service, including waitress visibly irritated at having to bring serving spoons for shared salads. Had to flee men’s toilet: bleach/cleaning products caused eyes to sting. Loo seat broken off. No loo roll in ladies. Pizzas all too salty and one too sweet. Toppings to aubergine pizza small, odd. Table water tepid.

I was blown away with the amazing pizza, fresh & authentic. Worth every penny. I love it I found my new favourite place to eat out. No more take away pizza from the other greasy chains.

We visited during the afternoon and to sun it up it was a very tasty and enjoyable lunch! The pizzas looked as if they had just come out of the oven and looked perfect! We had the margarita pizza and the chicken & bacon pizza. Both of which were very delicious and I can only recommend! Likewise, the strawberry milkshake was also perfect! It was thick, creamy and flavoursome everything you could want from a shake - there were even little bits of strawberries mixed in! Overall I was very impressed with the food, you can tell that they use high quality ingredients and nothing is artificial. The only reason why this review is not 5/5 is due to the service. Although it wasn’t bad, our waiter didn’t come across the most friendliest but this wouldn’t put me off from returning again because the food is tasty and we’ve had good service previously.

The service here was quick but not super friendly. We weren’t convinced the waiter was going to remember our order and the chorizo bites we ordered were forgotten - we didn’t ask as the pizzas ended up being plenty of food. The food was okay for the price, seems like quite a popular place right near the cathedral.

My wife and I shared a pizza and sharing platter and it was enough for the both of us. I would say prices are a little on the higher side, BUT, the food is delicious and the services was great. We sat in a window seat downstairs and felt that corner lacked a bit of atmosphere as the restaurant speakers are in the other side of the room. All in all, a delightful place!

I used the like the restaurant in Winchester. The staff is welcoming the pizzas are fresh and delicious. One of the managers however has an anger control issue and he is very rude to their staff. It is very unfortunate but I will likely never go their again unless he is removed.

Great restaurant with great pizzas, been there few times. Unfortunately the management needs to improve as they are very rude with the staff front of the guests. 1 star goes for the management team, not for the food or service

Loved this place - we were looking for pizza for lunch but not part of a high street chain. Friendly and great pizzas with sourdough base. The honeycomb sundae as dessert was to die for.

We had a booking for 12 people and was given less than 24 hrs notice that the restaurant had closed (permanently), even though it turns out they’ve been closed for a week. Not the way to treat customers! Extreamly disappointing!

Absolutely delicious pizzas. We ordered Mushroom, pepperoni and Margherita pizzas as well cheesy potatoes and we were so pleased. Staff was very friendly, especially Eli who was really lovely and very kind to us. We will definitely come back. Ps. They do blue light discount and student discount!

Delicious pizza. Ultra friendly service, including for families with kids in prams. If you like spicy pizza though, try the 'nduja!!! Their anchovies are superb as well... sigh. Must get another one.

This was a first visit - the service and staff were excellent and the pizzas were delicious. The only comment I have is the difficulty we had in cutting the pizza as the cutters were not quite sharp enough. Otherwise had a lovely experience and would go again.

Great little restaurant with quick friendly service. Food was nice and delivered quickly. Quirky thing which was good was the trivial pursuit cards on table incase you don't want to make small talk. The 'while you wait' starters of olives and chorizo were quite expensive for the thimblefull you got but portions for main meals were adequate for prices. Had to wait a little while to get in as hadn't booked but it's testament to a good restaurant in my eyes.

We had a really positive experience at this restaurant. We were promptly seated and served by a nice & friendly waitress. The service was very quick, efficient, and prompt. Everything we had was really tasty, cooked fresh and tasted of very good quality. The pizzas were everything we could of wanted - it was perfect! I personally think that it is great value for money. The restaurant was also kept clean and was modern. There was an array of drinks on the menu with a selection of pizza flavours, sides and pasta dishes. I was not left disappointed. It was so good that we were tempted to order another pizza! I definitely recommend!

Sadly this place has massively gone down hill! Chaotic, rude, disinterested service & long long delays - poor. Avoid.

What a fantastic gem in Winchester. Very reasonable prices with quality to compete with the best pizza restaurants. Service was excellent, friendly and professional. Atmosphere was relaxed and vibrant with a detour that matches Winchester's aesthetic. It was also right next to the Cathedral which is another bonus. I had the garlic bread with mozzarella,which was excellent and filling. As well as a pizza with goats cheese and ham. I eat Italian food a lot and this really was excellent. Would recommend to groups of any size.

The pizza here is, as always, some of the best I’ve ever had. We had the barbecue pulled pork, Cajun chicken and mushroom and goats cheese, and all three were incredible with the most amazing crust and garlic dip. The head chef is clearly amazing at her job, and the passion is clear in her produce! We will all definitely be back for more!

Pizza was nice but the service was poor. Very slow. We waited ages to be seated, even tho we had booked in advance. It took about 15 minutes waiting to order drinks. Will not return as better service elsewhere.

Twas excellent. Catered very well for those with dietary requirements. Tasty pizza at a good price.

Great pizza good service friendly staff

We popped in today for lunch, it was busy but they sat us down fairly quickly. We requested to change seats, away from a whole lot of noisy people with a man who stood up talking to another table loudly the whole time, this was refused because it was too busy. The thing is, we saw the table was unoccupied upon leaving. We were made to feel like an inconvenience, rather than enjoy a nice pizza. It was nice pizza as always. Surprisingly, we found the Sheffield one which is in a shopping centre less noisy and intrusive.

Amazing and friendly staff were brilliant. Went to TJ for a work do in December. The staff were very accommodating and despite being very busy allowed us to our table early. The pizza were amazing. Highly recommend will definitely be returning in future. Thanks to the manager Maria for being so accommodating and for providing an amazing atmosphere.

Great value for a pizza, new year sale prices made us pop in for lunch today. The milkshakes are still the best I have had in any UK restaurant. Lovely view out of the window of the cathedral. Staff were very friendly and checked in on us a few times. The garlic dip was great to dip the crusts into.

best garlic bread i have ever eaten bar none

The restaurant has a lot of space, it was already busy and my group of 6 didn't have to wait at all for a table big enough. The pizzas are delicious and the waitresses there are friendly. For 6 people we had a bill of £80 with NHS discount it went down to £68. Affordable, delicious and a decent atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning.

Three Joe's have managed to proof that sometimes artisan pizza is far inferior to any chain pizza restaurant. Their pizzas are created in a desert like manner where vast expanses of burnt bread and tomatoe puree is occasionally broken up with a piece of chicken.

Stuff is ignorant and unhelpfull. Pizza was disgusting it's just burnt bread tomatoes sauce and wispers of aubergine rather than actually adding substantive amount. Not recommended.

The crust and base was under cooked. Used to be great toppings. Decent enough beer on tap but could do with more local craft beers

Very crowded and busy therefore service not up to standards where it should be. Pizza sadly average.

Most undecorated restaurant in Winchester. Downstairs had no festive charm and only Christmas decoration was a Santa hat on a beer pump

Myself and my partner came to the restaurant when it was very busy during Winchester Christmas Market but the staff member Wayne went above and beyond to provide us excellent customer service and the pizza tasted amazing!x

Amazing food and service great value

A military operation getting parked in Winchester. Nice Atmos and apart from me everyone was happy enough with their food and service was professional and friendly and great value for the current time's. I had a mushroom pizza, sadly it was soggy but I was hungry at that point. I'm not that fussy so that was a shame, no doubt the advice would be to complain but unless it's really bad I won't.

Fantastic food at reasonable prices

We visited on a busy Saturday afternoon while the Christmas market was on. We did not have a booking, but the front of staff was very accommodating and managed to find us a table for lunch. We were given a strict time limit by which time the table would be needed for the people who did actually book - which wasn't an issue as we still had plenty of time to relax and eat and get back to the Christmas market. The food itself was simply delicious. Pizza was cooked perfectly, and I actually finished my entire pizza which is a huge accomplishment to the restaurant. The drinks too were really nice. I would definitely visit again the next time I'm in Winchester, but this time I'd be more prepared with a booking!

We visited the Winchester Christmas market this evening, then had dinner at Three Joes. It wasn't our first choice but all the restaurants nearby were busy, so we were grateful that they could fit us in. I chose the pepperoni pizza, and my partner had the buffalo mozzarella pizza. I tried to order a cider, then a beer, but a lot of the drinks were unavailable. Unfortunately, I then mistakenly ordered a low alcohol pale ale, which was horrible, so be warned. My pizza was very tasty, but my partner's was soggy and unpleasant to eat. The restaurant kindly made up for it by taking the beer off the bill. Service was excellent, but be careful what you order.

Delightful and friendly restaurant. The best pizza we have eaten . The delicious milk shake, we decided to share, was brought in two glasses . Nothing was too much trouble . Ideal setting abd well worth a visit

Enjoyed our first trip to a Three Joes. Staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. Lovely pizza, really enjoyed it. Note to customers - it’s pretty bad manners to play a football game on your phone at the table!

When we visited without a reservation a few Sundays ago these guys were welcoming, served the best pizza and we all had a brilliant time. Whenever in Winchester this is our treat after shopping.

Lovely location opposite the Cathedral and very festive view from inside. Lovely service friendly staff and excellent pizzas. Simple good quality ingredients and good value for money. Only one small observation we ordered olives and chorizo to nibble on but thought the portions were a bit small and chorizo difficult to eat as it was finely diced. Will definitely go back though !
