Zizzi - St Katharine Docks in Tower Hamlets

Had a wonderful late lunch here May 2nd, perfect spot to cool down on a hot day. Quieter than other restaurants on the dock, nice atmosphere, pretty garden area. Basia was our server, and she was friendly, helpful and chatty with the children, which was lovely. Pizza was great, wine was cold. No complaints, would visit again and would recommend.

Worst service experience ever – complete disaster! 1. We waited a very long time at the entrance for someone to assign us a table. 2. Once we got seated, no one came over for ages! We asked a runner if we could place an order – he said he’d call someone but just kept wandering around and did nothing. 3. When we finally managed to order, our starters sat on the pass forever. The waitress brought only 3 out of 4 dishes. My prawns on skewers were left behind for another 15 minutes! The runner wasn’t delivering drinks, food, or clearing tables – what was his purpose? He looked lost and completely unproductive. 4. When we got the prawns, it was only thanks to the manager, who we flagged down. But they were already cold when served! She returned them to the kitchen and rushed the staff to redo the dish. Unfortunately, due to the rush, I got 2 raw prawns out of 5. I genuinely feel sorry for the kitchen team, working double under such poor floor management. 5. No one cleared our table before mains arrived. We had to stack our plates and move them ourselves to make space! The waitress finally removed them after dropping the new dishes. 6. We asked for salt and pepper – never received them. 7. No one checked on us during the meal, we were completely ignored. And the restaurant wasn’t even busy – just a few tables outside and maybe three inside. Staff included three servers, a manager, a runner, and a bartender. 8. Again, no one cleared our main course plates. We had to request desserts ourselves. 9. We ordered ice cream – it was half melted when served because the servers couldn’t be bothered. They preferred chatting by the bar. 10. Ice cream combinations were wrong. One was supposed to be lemon-vanilla, but we got strawberry-vanilla. The waitress acted like we were wrong, but the order clearly said lemon. Eventually, she replaced it. The other order should have been pannacotta-lemon, but came pannacotta-vanilla – we didn’t bother to complain again. 11. We waited over 30 minutes for the bill! A girl named "Basia" (someone called her from the bar) was walking around with our check, then randomly went upstairs. Eventually, we asked the manager who processed the payment. When we told "Basia" we had already paid, she just waved her hand in frustration and walked away. To summarize: The service was an utter disaster. The kitchen staff worked fast and the food (despite the minor dessert errors) was really tasty. But the delays and lack of communication from the front of house ruined everything. No clue who’s in charge of cleanliness either – the disabled toilet and baby changing area downstairs were filthy. I wanted to feed my baby but couldn’t – had to do it at the table. The stench and dirt were disgusting. Fire extinguishers near the bathroom were covered in dust – you could write a complaint in it! It’s a shame – the kitchen deserves praise, but the service is unacceptable. Someone higher up should seriously look into this location – other branches are much better. I usually enjoy this chain and often visit with family, but I absolutely do not recommend this one!

Disappointing Service Despite Good Food We visited Zizzi and shared a pizza and pasta dish, both of which were tasty. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the appalling service we received. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was noticeably lacking. We were met with attitude rather than a warm welcome by two of the waitresses. There were no basic courtesies—no one checked in on our meal or asked if we needed anything else. In fact it felt more like we were an inconvenience than valued customers. The low point came when it was time to pay. One of the waitresses (the blonde girl) handed over the payment device without showing me the amount. When I politely asked to see the total before tapping, she became immediately defensive, insisting—loudly and repeatedly—that the amount is automated and not entered manually. Her tone and volume were completely uncalled for and embarrassed us in front of the entire restaurant. Overall, the rudeness of the staff overshadowed the quality of the food. Sadly, we won’t be returning—and I wouldn’t recommend this branch to anyone expecting even basic levels of hospitality.

The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and the restaurant itself felt cozy and stylish. A special thank you to our amazing servers, Ingus and Olivia. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional — their friendliness made us feel right at home. It’s rare to experience such heartfelt service, and we are truly grateful. Today, after discovering this restaurant two years ago, we went to Zizzi on St. Katherine's Docks on the first day of our stay in London. Since we were out all day, we were really hungry and weren't disappointed: My bruschetta was to die for! It's almost a shame that there were only two fresh, warm slices of bread with very aromatic tomatoes, but I had also ordered a main course... Here we had carbonara with five types of cheese. I rarely order pasta at restaurants, but it sounded so good on the menu that I had to try it. The noodles tasted amazing! Not too hard, not too soft, crunchy cheese and panchetta...sensational! I would like to say that this is the best pasta I have ever eaten! The portion was absolutely sufficient. And price/performance is completely okay. Our waitress Basia was very attentive, including when it came to my friend's intolerances. We felt completely at home and will definitely come back again during our stay. Thank you for everything!

Booked the table but got told to wait outside! Took 40 minutes to get a drink even the food was here before the drinks! Ruined my birthday meal. It took 2hours to get here! Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND! Staff do not care less about the customers.

First try in this restaurant, a pleasant and friendly team. A very good salad with chicken, tiramisu and a sprite, all for £31. Pleasant setting with a view of the St Katerine docks.

Stood in the queue for 20 minutes. Lead waitress came by 5-10 times and avoided eye contact, picked up more cutlery and left again. 10+ people in the queue. Restaurant was over half empty. No communication. No explanation why we were left waiting to get a table for 2 people in a half empty restaurant. After 20 minutes we gave up and took our custom elsewhere. Disgusting.

Mayhem of a Restaurant. Service was very poor - chefs made the food and it sat on the counter for 15-20 minutes and more and many sent their food back as it was could including us. It seems it’s no one’s job to give your food. We won’t be back.

3pm and empty restaurant/garden - were told to leave as they are „fully booked“. Difficult to understand and not customer-friendly.

The food and service was ok, but the waitress We had was rude . She gave us the wrong receipt, and when We told her about it, she just tok it out of my hands and curled it. We asked to Get our receipt, but the waitress just said that We had paid the right amount, then she just walked away.

They let us just do dessert and tea, though they made it seem like typically people were only allowed to eat full meals there. If I just want to spend a short amount of time eating dessert, and after the main dinner rush, isn't that just more business for you? Anyways, the view at the docks is nice. Washrooms are upstairs and I don't recall if they had elevators, so just something to keep in mind when you come.

A nice place to eat if the sun is out. The food is alright but not amazing, it's a Zizzi's!

A Mixed Experience – Delicious but Inconsistent I visited this restaurant after reading glowing reviews about their King Prawn Linguine, and I must agree—it’s absolutely delicious! The flavors are outstanding, and the portion size (on my first visit) was generous. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and efficient, and I loved the relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor seating was spacious, and I even received complimentary snacks before my meal—a lovely touch! However, my second visit left me disappointed. I ordered the same dish, but this time, it came with only 4 prawns—far fewer than before. Perhaps because I arrived at 2:30 PM? If the kitchen was serving leftovers from lunch, it shouldn’t translate to a smaller portion, especially at this price point. While the service and ambiance remain excellent, the kitchen’s inconsistency is hard to ignore. Rationally, I shouldn’t reorder this dish again—comparison ruins the experience. That said, I’d still recommend trying the linguine (hopefully you get a proper portion!), and the staff’s warmth makes this place worth visiting.

Excellent. The food is very good and varied. For those who think London food isn't good, this is completely false. The service is also excellent; they are very helpful and friendly. And the atmosphere in this particular restaurant is great because it has a view of the harbor.

Had a 60th birthday meal here and this is a great place to celebrate. Great views, friendly and warm service and the best food and wine! The selection is amazing but, more importantly, the quality and taste first class. As a Zillionaire, I also had vouchers ... which helps with the inevitable price rises in recent years nit still ... hard to beat!

We came on a Sunday in the middle of winter, we ate well, the dishes were good and hot. On the other hand, the service is really average, the staff is not very pleasant, does not make an effort to understand when we speak the language poorly, the waiter only corrected our syntax mistakes when we did not understand, rather than making a little effort to make us understand he repeated exactly the same thing at the same speed... Getting him to smile was a failure. We will not return due to the service.
