My wife and I visited the Zizzi branch at the Cardiff city centre on Sunday 27th April. A member of staff by the name of Beth served us our meals. She had recommended a dish each for us and they were truly amazing. She is really friendly and sweet. Zizzi is very fortunate to have a lovely person like Beth. Wishing her all and the Zizzi team all the best for their future endeavours.

Llamé hoy para una cena temprano. 4 de nosotros cenando, el restaurante no estaba particularmente ocupado. Estuve esperando en la puerta durante 5 minutos mientras el personal hablaba, así que no fue un buen comienzo. Se nos mostró a una esquina delantera de la reserva donde el sol estaba ardiendo por lo que nos movimos. ¡Otra parte se mostró a la misma mesa y también se movieron! La comida era excelente, pero tuve que ir a pedir mi baño de acompañamiento que pedí. Un poco más de entrenamiento de atención al cliente y podría haber sido un 5 *. La aplicación Zillionaire también es bastante pobre y no pudo iniciar sesión para ordenar desde el código QR en la mesa, dijo que se pusiera en contacto con su servidor. Las recompensas también son muy pobres con otras restricciones como Harvester / Toby Carvery que ofrecen ofertas mucho mejores.

Sat here having ended a very disappointing meal. The staff member was rude, we had to ask for cutlery, the child's spaghetti pomodoro was water with a few chopped tomatoes, the pizza was smothered in an uneven layer of toppings and oil. We had to order on an app then pay a tip before even getting any service. If I could give 0 stars I would. AVOID.

Have been here before. Went for lunch this week. The place got quite busy quickly. Food was good. Waitress, Niamh was very warm welcoming.

No service and the staff is very unhelpful, however the Garson left us without taking the order.

Because I enjoyed my delivered meal so much last night, via Deliveroo, I decided to order again this evening (order#5508) – but the experience was rather different... I ordered two (clearly marked as "NON-GLUTEN") lentil and pasta dishes (both for me). However, when they arrived I got "gluten-suspicious" because the dishes did not contain the fusilli-style pasta as advertised. I then rang the very apologetic and friendly assistant manager, "Phil", who explained that the dishes should have definitely been made as gluten-free, as specified. He explained that the chef missed the vital gluten-free instruction on the screen/receipt. If I had launched into my meal – as I nearly did – although I do not suffer from coeliac disease, it would've resulted in me being not well at all (I'll spare you the details). The assistant manager explained that the restaurant was fairly busy for a Monday but this is no excuse for neglecting something that could seriously affect someone's health. LAST night's order was ticked off and doublechecked on the receipt but tonight's was not - therein is the problem. As an ex-chef, I know that double checking and ticking off the receipt with a pen is foolproof for ensuring all items are included in the bag and that any specific requirements are met. Obviously, this was not done and needs to be rectified immediately as a strict Zizzi restaurant policy. Consequently, as I only had a few tins in, I was left without food, and the hassle of getting a refund from Deliveroo killed my appetite and spoilt what was going to be a pleasant evening. This was going to be a nice review regarding the restaurant's tasty food, but this issue of sending out gluten-containing food when one has specifically ordered food advertised as NON-gluten is so serious that it has pushed my "tasty food" review to the side. I will try the restaurant again sometime – perhaps after a phone call regarding the above – and hoping that they instituted a much stricter policy when it comes to double-checking and ticking off receipt orders - even when busy. Incidentally, the assistant manager told me that they had also "run out of gluten-free stickers" to stick onto gluten-free food tubs. If this is true, then this is really pathetic. A chain restaurant with so MANY gluten free items on the menu should have a whole HEAP of gluten-free stickers! This doesn't make any sense at all. Lastly, I tried to phone the restaurant at 9:45 pm – 15 minutes before they closed – but as no one courteously answered the phone after three attempts – I decided to write this review. I would've preferred to speak to the manager again, instead of posting this. Yes, good food but the above problem needs to be sorted out ASAP – lax staff on this issue will cause BIG problems - especially those with coeliac disease - it's only a matter of time. I look forward to the manager's response below, to reassure me, and other customers, that this matter has been taken very seriously. If there is no response below, then that is very worrying indeed.

Awful from start to finish and the customer service appalling. The staff were just chatting and messing about and no interest in the customers. The chef working hard but other than one waiter they were so poor. The food was ok and it wasn’t a very clean place. Been to zizzi elsewhere but would never go here. They need a good manager to sort out the staff

I felt the service here could have been better. They’ve gone cashless which we didn’t know till we got there. When asked about certain foods I didn’t really get much help. Then half way through our meal, they decided to take some of the tables and shares off our table, left very little room for people to get around. I added a note on booking about birthday, but nothing was said or done. I noticed after choosing my food, I saw specials by the stairs, no mention of that when ordering. I won’t be coming back.

We came in as a large group of 13 women to celebrate International Women's Day. We had a fab time and the service provided by Bronwen was great and made our experience that much better. She was friendly, kind, attentive and kept her cool even though there were so many of us! Thank you Bronwen and Happy International Women's Day :)

Very efficient and very friendly waitress. We mentioned we were late arriving as train was delayed. Speedy service and made sure we weren't late for our show. Our waitress, Lucy said enjoy the show😊.

Calamari was poor and chewy the pizza must have been made by novice I suggest you send cooks to Cardiff bay to refresh cooking skills

As an Italian that has lived 17 years in Italy i would definitely recommend this restaurant, it’s one of the best Italian food that I’ve tried in cardiff even though its not the typical traditional food but the taste is chef’s kiss. However, the SERVICE IS TERRIBLE, it’s impossible to seek the waiter’s attention, they seems to be looking in every direction apart form our table, and it’s not just one time, I’ve been twice to this restaurant and each time is the same.

We arrived over an hour early before our booking. I asked if they could fit us in earlier, moved our booking around no problem. Our waitress Beth was so lovely and attentive to us we couldn't fault her service. The meals we had as a family of 3 were all delicious and services was quick. Throughly enjoyed our experience there would definitely book again.

It was our first time going as we were contemplating between zizzi and another italian restaurant upstairs but tried our luck because there was a bluelight discount, which was confirmed by the zizzi staff. However, when it was time to pay, I used a valid, unexpired Bluelight card with a QR code and despite many attempts, they said it wouldn’t work. The only restaurant where the a valid bluelight does not work!!!! If you can’t honor the Bluelight discount, don’t advertise it because otherwise, it is a scam. The service crew who served us also wasn't friendly and seemed disinterested. I won't ever, ever return to this awful place!!!!

I have contacted head office over a week ago and no response, so here we go! Visited for my husbands birthday, have never been to the Cardiff branch and will not be returning. Sharing starter was lovely, but it would seem that our mains were also prepared at the same time and left out under a heat lamp for all that time, 2 ordered the calzone, which were fairly edible as everything is contained inside it, I ordered the Casareccia Della Casa, which had been recommended to me. The top part was extremely crispy, in fact my husband thought they were fries! It was very dry, no sauce whatsoever, the description mentioned mushrooms but could see any in there. I am not a fussy eater but I could not eat it as it was so dry and bland, I was ready to mention to the waitress when she came round, but no one came to ask if everything was ok with the food, so assumed she would ask when she took our plates, as clearly there was something wrong with mine as I hadn't touched it, but again, nothing!!

Fui yo, mi esposa y nuestros hijos y el servicio fue visto desde un joven pero no estoy seguro de su nombre. La comida era muy buena relación calidad-precio y nos fuimos sintiéndonos satisfechos, lo cual es raro con algunas cadenas de alimentos. Sin duda volveríamos.

Love going to Zizzis!! USUALLY!!! Ordered the iconic carbonara with chorizo… came with NO chorizo, just some sort of cheap ham lol. When you’re paying £17 for pasta that’s described as “spaghetti carbonara with chorizo” that’s what you expect! Shame, other times it’s always been 10/10 but so disappointed this time! Don’t think I’ll return

La comida no era como se describe, yo tenía la langosta y pasta de langostinos Me decepcionó mucho no encontrar langosta en absoluto. 3 de nosotros teníamos esta pasta y no había langosta en ninguno de los dos. En general, el plato no era muy sabroso junto a las gambas. Aunque tanto los entrantes como los postres eran encantadores.

Standing at the sign: "Wait here to be seated", watching 3 employees go past, stopping at the till a foot away, tapping, talking and never saying anything or offering to seat us. that about sums up the experience. Left after about 5 minutes and 3 employees ignoring us while standing next to us.

Went out to eat with my boyfriend yesterday, we both had pizzas margherita even though I ordered the Pepperoni one but the ambiance of the place and the quality of the services makes up for it… The food was very good and we enjoyed it !

Popped here after my daughters graduation. Wasn't particularly busy. Food and drinks were good . Staff hmmm, not bad but not great , really just seemed as though couldn't be bothered, especially when it came to paying. Basically dumped the card machine in front of me and said follow the prompts , then walked off , leaving me to struggle to see the small text and answer stupid questions. This was after the same staff member complaining about bringing a shopping bag in with us .

Would definitely not reccomend, we visited Sunday 17th November. My husband had Chicken Milanese, the chicken was greasy and overcooked. My carbonara was bland and tasteless. The staff were uninterested, we had to find cutlery and salt and pepper from another table. Service was very slow even though it wasn't busy. The poor quality of the food and service does not justify the cost.
