We visited on 14th April for a joint birthday with my nephews, my sisters and my Mum. We had a large table with free spaces. I checked tge cutlery and one of the forks (see image) was not cleaned properly. Had previous users food still on it. This changed the mood a bit. The food was okay. I had a linguine pasta, a salad and some garlic bread. My bill came to £50+. They added a tip to the bill which I did not like. But the dirty cutlery on the table and the failure of the staff to check it was enough to say not to come back here. And I didn't like the pasta.

Another visit Another 5* review I personally cannot fault Zizzi Bedford. From the food to the staff particularly the management team , you can see that have a great connection and play the team game well. I spoke with the General manager there Grant , and he noted along with his Assistant managers he prides on if the team are happy they ensure the customers are happy. In action and in person this was spot on when I went to dine Well done , see you in a fortnight

It was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time, the service was amazing from all, the food was delicious and hot when it arrived, a special shoutout to the manager Mia for making us feel most welcome. We were very well looked after during our visit today. Ewelina was our waitress, she was so lovely and worked so hard running around looking after everyone. The food was delicious, I had the sea bass which was so flavoursome and piping hot. Our daughter demolished all 3 courses and the chocochino was a nice touch with desert. Deserts were very tasty, we had an expression crumble to share and this was delicious. Lovely, venue by the river, nice atmosphere, would definitely come back.

Alex the great waiter from Albania made me and my family feel very welcome for our meal out this evening. He is a very professional and friendly man and needs more paid holidays and a raise and an asset to the Zizzi team.

Amazing experience as always! Food and drinks were lovely. We tried a range of cocktails, our favourites were the passion fruitini and rum punch, the food looked and tasted great. The service was outstanding, the staff were really patient and friendly, especially Erick and Ewelina who served us this evening.

Everything was amazing, we really enjoy the pasta , starters and a cocktail Erik made for us, he was really nice.

Went here with a group of about 6 for a birthday. Service was quite slow and seemed very understaffed however the waitress was nice and pleasant just could have done with some help . We were all very hungry and thirsty as are booking was at 7:30 and the drinks took at least 35 mins and the food took about another hour to get to us so we waiter about 1hr 30 mins . I really enjoyed the cocktails and starts but unfortunately wasn’t impressed with the mains or deserts . It was also quite cold in the restaurant so we ended up wearing are coats which was a bit uncomfortable. Overall we had a nice time together but I just think that the prices don’t reflect the quality of the food and service .

The service in the Bedford branch was absolutely awful. I had booked a table for 11 of my family. I had Tesco vouchers as it was a family celebration. The waiter said we could not use them as the booking was for over 6 people. I explained that I did not know that and the rules must have changed as we were able to do it before. We said we would use it for the 6 and pay for 5. He said no. We asked to speak with the manager. He said she wasn't available as she was on a break. She could only talk to us in 25 minutes. I could see her at a table opposite us. Terrible service! We left and ate at Wagamama's. I will never go to Zizzi's again. Disgraceful service and customer care. This is the worst service and customer care I have ever experienced.

Staff were miserable and inattentive. Seated at a very small table in an awkward spot, even though we booked prior. Asked for mayonnaise and were told they didn’t do it but did aioli, we had the smallest pot which they charged us £1 for without telling us. Pizza and garlic bread were nice, although they got our order wrong. Chips were small and expensive. Wouldn’t go again. Disappointed.

Really enjoyed our visit here, all the staff were friendly, chatty and service was very good. Our food was delivered promptly, with good presentation and was delicious. Their drinks had great variety. All round nice time, good atmosphere, thanks the bubbly staff and a great location. Bedford is really on the up.

Tables where to close together, they have crammed to many in a small space, service was slow and little rude. Also got on of our food orders wrong after cleary stating what we wanted. Waited ages to get served and when we did get the food it was okay but not worth the money.

Standard Zizzi fare, but excellent service from friendly, attentive staff. Food was good quality and reasonable value. There is a pleasant view of the river and I am sure we will return.

Restaurant was cold, no atmosphere either. Overpriced for mediocre food. Pizza bases really thin with not much topping. Service not great waited a long time for mains even though Restaurant not busy. Would not recommend, will not be returning.

Ok food but very expensive for what it is, also be prepared to pay an extra 10% of the price on the menu as you have to pay a service charge which I think is cheeky as most places don't do this, especially in Bedford!

I've always found Zizzi to be a solid choice as a high street chain and this experience was no different. Nice ambience, friendly staff and the 3 course Festive menu was great value at £25.95, with lots of choice including dishes new to the menu. Pulled Pork and Crackling on a pizza? Shouldn't work in theory but very much does.

Met by a very charming waiter who solicitously asked us if we had any allergies and explained re the discount scheme. Showed us to our table and was attentive throughout. Very impressed. Food was really lovely. Starters huge and main course piping hot. Will certainly go again.

The food at this restaurant is exquisite. Every dish is a masterpiece. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is charming. 5 stars!

The place looks great, nice atmosphere, the guys on the front are definitely doing a great job , but food need attentions..its really expensive for what you get and taste..good location near the river.

The food was great but about 15mins after consumed I had to run to the toilet the food was genuinely nice but I threw it all back up so got the bill and left never going back again

Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience. To be fair, some could probably breeze through Zizzi in Bedford, or any other Zizzi and it'd probably be fine, but having been a customer of Zizzi for many years, I can honestly say it's gone downhill. If you have a food allergy, you are told that you have to order using a QR code and an app, whether you like it or not. We felt discriminated against as a result. We then didn't realise that the app immediately orders everything you put into it, without having the functionality to amend the order. To me, it feel like the restaurant equivalent of a self checkout. Zizzi obviously doing whatever possible to reduce costs, albeit at the expense of customer experience. My son's pasta was bland, and my pizza was bang average. Worst of all, was that I made a complaint, so I didn't have to leave a 2* review on Google, and asked for my money back. Thanks for the offer of £20 having spent £115 on a substandard dinner Zizzi. You can keep it. My advice would be to find a local, independent pizzeria. Must be loads in Bedford.

Food was good, pretty standard for a chain. Service was exceptional. Eric (who said he usually works in the kitchen) was a fantastic host. Wonderful demeanour with our table, looked after us so perfectly. 11/10 for Eric, thank you so much, you made our night!

Zizzi is a chain of restaurants across UK. The Bedford outlet is located right by the riverside, so the view is great! The pastas and desserts are good. Service is warm and friendly. I tried the tortellini and sweet cannoli. Both good. Not too heavy. Quite fresh. There are enough options for vegetarians.

Oh dear. Not a great experience, however sitting by the river was pleasant which helped as I waited over 30 minutes for my drink to arrive. Can I order my food please....uh use the App! If i wanted food via an App I would have gone to a popular fast food joint and had it served through my drivers window. Only 3 waiting staff for a busy restaurant, however the constant stream of collections by bike is a testimony to the quality of the food when it finally arrived. Still the wait was entertaining watching the increasingly frustrated staff dealing with frustrated clients who like me were aware that the delivery service was of greater importance than the seated customers. Still I had nowhere to be and the weather was lovely. Service score 0 entertainment value 10 food 9. Faulty Towers comes to mind.......

Would give a 0 if I could. Food took > 1/2 h to arrive. When it did, the waiter knocked the olive oil dish so my shorts was covered in olive oil. I happened to put on an expensive pair of designer shorts today, my mistake apparently as the manager not only didn’t apologise but asked me how the waiter had knocked the dish! He had the audacity to ask this instead of apologising. I did admittedly then turn rather angry at this stage as I knew the oil wouldn’t come out in the best of dry cleaners and was faced with a condensing manager who refused to give me the details of the person above him. Shame, great location, mediocre food & terrible service!

Went to an early dinner as a family of 4. We ordered 2 kids menu and 2 mains along with drinks. We sat outside at the front. Waited 20 mins for the drinks to arrive and missed to serve our litte ones drink we paid for, made us order and pay for another one. Waited 40 mins for the food, we had no cutleries. The kid’s pizzas came with the crust burned black. The chicken breast in the pasta tasted like defrosted chicken. Empty plates were taken away after half an hour we finished our main and we asked for the kids ice creams to be served. Waited another good half an hour for the ice creams what has never arrived. We mentioned it several times and just been told it will be a minute. We finally left fuming and got ice creams for the kids somewhere else. Such a horrible experience to beg for your order you paid for and yet you leave without it, with the promises of the waitresses. We won’t return and told to friends and family how we were treated, they all agreed there are much better places to go to in town.

Pleasant setting by the river and nice ambience inside. We went for lunch prior to a film at the next door cinema. We allowed ourselves nearly 2 hours. It started well, with two nice filling and tasty pizzas served promptly and pleasant waiter. Be warned, they don't take cash here and everything is electronic although you are not forced to order by App. We allowed a good hour for dessert and coffee which we ordered at the same time. The coffee came but not the desserts. We asked twice for the dessert as we had finished the coffee (would have preferred the coffee after dessert as is normal) . Finally after about three quarters of an hour I caught the eye of someone who looked a little more senior and asked for the third time about our desserts. We had clearly been totally forgotten . They were produced within a minute from behind the bar. My salted caramel chocolate brownie - allegedly a Zizzi favourite was lacklustre and like a piece of sponge cake. My husbands chocolate melt was marginally better. Had to get bill instantly as was late for cinema. No receipt or paper copy as all electronic. Fairly expensive with automatic tip suggested which husband was too nice to decline, but I suspect we won't be back.

We chose to go here as we had eaten at the Rushden Lakes restaurant, so thought we woukd try here and as it was our 15th wedding anniversary we were happy with the view of the river, the restaurant is ideally placed for a great view. The food was fantastic and not a word of complaint about the food. It was just the service that was the problem! We were welcomed and seated by a tail dark haired male, then we asked to be moved due to the uncomfortable chairs, being of fuller figure the metal which came down on the back rest made it uncomfortable. After we swapped the blonde lady came and took our food and drink order, as I said the food was fantastic, we finished our main courses and say for about 15 mins until our plates were cleared, we were given a dessert menu and we chose our desserts, little did we know we were going to be sat for another 30 minutes despite trying to attract attention. When we were finally spoke to by the blonde lady we explained how long we had been waiting and we just asked for the bill. When the chap came back he said "sorry if you feel you've had a long wait" and then we paid our bill with no other conversation. We don't mind a wait if its a busy restaurant but it didn't seem that busy and I counted at least 4 members of staff on that evening. I have to say it does make us wonder if we should return?

First time in zizzi's at the Bedford branch. Our waitress was fantastic, kind and very helpful. Food was amazing and service was quick. Views of Bedford River were fantastic too.

Tonight (jul26th 2023) I have eaten at zizi restaurant in Bedford (This is the third night in a row as it has been previously enjoyable) Managed by Andrea T. ( she declined to give me her surname.) When I paid and left a tip and a charitable donation…I asked for a print out of the receipt for my expenses and was told by the waitress that she can’t and that it wasn’t her problem. When I calmly complained , the manager came over with a printed receipt .. so firstly I feel lied to… by the waitress … and my expectations were now significantly impacted. I requested a tip refund due to the attitude of the waitress.. The manager Andrea said she couldn’trefund anything and that the organisation doesn’t do that on site and the restaurant was unable to give refunds … which is a terrible situation. I again feel I am being lied to. To have the refund she had to send a mail to the HQ. I am away on business and this was supposed to be a relaxed evening after a busy day at work whilst away from my family. All in all.. food was good but service well below expectations.. I wonder if anything will ever come of the refund. Won’t be going back and suggest they explain to customers up from they have changed their ordering and payments system

We went for lunch on our third visit here and the service is slow but our food was lush. We had pasta / pizza and calzone. Even though the service was slow the waiters were nice and polite.

Worst pizza ive ever had. Usually a big fan of Zizzi, but pizza was so thin it was like cardboard and dry. Just no need for it, £16 a meal don’t be so tight. Ruined a family meal out, as we didn’t have time to get it redone, as booked cinema tickets. Complaint has been made to HQ it was so poor.

Just been for a fathers day treat. Food was delicious and Alex our waiter was great. In fact all the staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed it and look forward to going again

We booked a table for a birthday meal, our waitress Ewelina was lovely but sadly the food was mediocre at best and the service was incredibly slow. We waited over 30 mins for drinks and for our order to be taken, and finally left 2 and a half hours after arriving. Far too much focus was given to the deliveroo/just eat orders, which meant that in house diners were left until you waved someone down. They were clearly understaffed. We will not be visiting again.

Although our waitress did the best she could, we had a terrible experience at Zizzi last night. 2 and half hours in there overall mostly waiting for food or to be served. We also waited 30 minutes for drinks and our order to be taken initially. The table was rarely cleared. The only part of our meal was decent was the starters, the mains were terrible! The kids didn't even get all of their meals by the end of the 2 and half hour ordeal. There is far too much focus on Deliveroo and take away orders, and not enough on the people physically there! Will not return. Ever.

Sat outside . Lovely day and view. No crisps . Ordered drinks and mains . No water at the table. My food a calzone was burnt at the top so i left that bit. Husbands lasagne was ok.. No one me to ask if it was ok and when we paid the bill was never asked if the food was ok. We decided to have dessert somewhere else. Poor.

Food took ages to arrive, they forgot the starters which didn't come until after we had finished, pasta was 100% microwaved - cold on the edges which were hard, scalding in the middle - I could have cooked much better and I'm no chef! We cancelled our dessert and they didn't have any record of them anyway. The stars given belong to our waitress who was lovely and seemed frustrated with kitchen staff altogether anyway. Will never go back, shame because the location is nice. Ridiculous money for what we got.

Awful service... trying order on the speedy app but with no success as it was not working. Ask waiter for help and he ignored me at all so I left after half an hour of waiting.

Clearly this place is in trouble, terrible slow service, if not fully staffed then simply close down for the time being!

Gone really downhill recently. Terrible service sitting ignored for ages after being seated and it's not exactly busy, wine/drinks fridges turned off overnight so no cold drinks on the hotest day of the year so far. Zero stars for food as we didn't get that far. Minus stars for service for not realising wine fridges stay on (call yourself an italian restaurant?). Zero for atmosphere, no music, no staff engagement. A real shame for bedford, this place USED to be good.

Food was very bland. Asked for garlic to jazz up the pasta dish but they didn't have any!!! Had dessert asked if they had cream to go with the pud but they said they didn't have any!!!! Over priced for a basic meal very disappointing & won't go again.
