Zindabad in Birmingham

I have to say is the food was not good at all. I place that can’t even get the nachos right ! Worst nachos I’ve ever had left it after one bite. The lasagna was horrible with bland chicken inside. Lamp chops barely had any flavour. The mojito was ok. And to top it off it was very cold in the restaurant where the door keeps opening. Staff were alright maybe new as they were a quite forgetful.

Went a little while ago, steak was ok, however vegetarian options were not nice at all. Wife is vegetarian but found the curry to be very tasteless and rice very spicy. Owner is very welcoming and friendly. However other staff not so much. Tried to pass on feedback to white lady with brown hair, who instead of addressing the issue gave a sarcastic smile and stood there as if I'm wasting her time. Think she needs a lesson in customer service from her boss. Would only go back if all the other steak places miraculously closed!

❌UPDATE❌ After a long time returning to this restaurant... prices changed radically!! Can not believe they can mess up their business with such a silly thing.. will definitely not coming back again.. get back to earth people! I have a lot to tell about this restaurant as we are returning customers and been there at least 5-6 times. Which I can never criticise is the customer service. Stuff is always so welcoming, getting seated straight away and always looking around if we need any help at all. That would be 5⭐️. We have tried many different dishes, some of them was excellent, some not the best.. At the end our favourites are the steaks, which comes with a nice sauce and 2 sides for your choice. That’s a shame we never get the chance to try the T bone steak, so guys, you should either remove that from the menu or get some in stock please. Lentils and lamb chops.. first time we ordered, they were amazing.. we loved them both, then next time we tried them they were not even half as good as the first time.. not sure what has happened? If they changed the recipe that was a bad idea.. I love Papadum with the mango sauce they have, which I don’t really understand why at the start wasn’t free, then it was free and now it is not free again? I would recommend to offer 1 free/person, and ask before serving it, so you don’t waste it if someone doesn’t want it.. Something I really don’t like in here is the naan’s price.. I would advise to give 1 free naan to each dishes which is obvious to eat with naan.. like daal or curries. But even if its not coming with the food, why would it be so so expensive? Come on guys.. If I cook something at home which needs naan with it, I can buy 3 for £1 from a takeaway shop.. Ok it is a restaurant but these naans are small so 1 person could easily finish 2, which is nearly £5.. I am not quite sure about the exact prices, so don’t want to mention it but I think it is a big issue.. Zindabad speacial burger was a big disappointment. It can be called anything, but not special. I already gave my advise after eating it, but I would mention again, at least you should change those buns to something actually special.. so it will look special. I would change the whole recipe of that burger, sorry. Desserts.. I love to try something new dessert all the time, as I did here too. At the start you had quite a big choice, now it ended up to just a few kind of cakes.. I understand that you are keep trying what is working, but please bring some juicy chocolaty dessert.. like brownies. Which I definitely have to mention is the Oreo Milkshake.. Omg. I am not quite sure how you guys making it, but I love it. Please never change that recipe or it’s price, because that is just perfect too. Mocktails are also great. So just keep it up, I can see it’s working quite well comparing to the previous restaurants been there before. We will be visiting again soon, and would also recommend to open upstairs seating, if you are quite busy downstairs, like on Valentines day.. because of the 20mins waiting time we decided to go somewhere else.. Will update my review if I notice any change. Wish you good luck!

Fantastic customer service. Recieved a very tailored recommendation on the chicken steak and the portion was a good size. All members of staff were highly professional and polite. Will definitely be returning :)

Food is brilliant better than expected. Exceeded all expectations. Definitely recommend if you like spicy food.

First time visited today, with 3 kids and wife. Pleasantly surprised with the results. Ordered the family platter and fries for starters, 2 cheese burgers, achar chicken and butter chicken with naans. The lamb chops were very well cooked, really flavoursome and juicy, had to order another portion because only 2 came with the platter. The burgers were very tasty and enjoyed by the kids. The achar chicken was cooked well, tasty and enjoyable with naan. The butter chicken which came recommended wasn't exactly how I expected it to be, lucky I was full from the other food otherwise I may have been disappointed. The reason I couldn't give 5 stars was because the price was on the steeper side, I know things have gone more expensive and maybe I need to get with the times. Overall, I would come again and I would say don't be put off with the bad reviews, try for yourself and I think, you will not be disappointed. The service was excellent, toilets were clean and good night out.

Theres no variety. They give rabbit food for salad. No onion salad. The sheesh kebab wasnt cooked properly and there was small portions of everything. The prices for the portions we got was ridiculous and also the drinks were £2 per can.

Visited this resraurant twice. The first time was before the refurb. Food was great and had no problems. Second time we visited was a week ago. Since the refurb the food was horrendous. I can honestly say i couldnt eat more than two bites of my food. I try not to give bad reviews but i would noy recommend this place. Please save your money and go elsewhere.

Visité a mi amigo recientemente. Ojalá no hubiera sido honesto porque la comida fue un poco decepcionante. El personal era muy agradable y atento, lo cual fue agradable de ver. Entrantes mirchi masala, que era un chile empanizado con algún tipo de salsa que estaba delicioso Patakha de patata: estaba bien y no era una patakha aparte de la forma en que se diseñó la pastelería. Para platos principales tuvimos el infierno de pollo. no fue genial. las fichas estaban bien, pero es difícil equivocarse enormemente. Creo que el pollo había sido hervido primero tal vez o puesto en agua porque salía agua y tenía un sabor acuoso. Creo que entonces se frió en aceite para que la piel quede crujiente. la piel crujiente era la parte más bonita. no hubo infierno. la salsa que se había tirado encima era dulce y aguada, no era agradable. Mi consejo: no pidas el infierno. no vale la pena. No sé si pedimos las cosas equivocadas, pero no saldría de mi camino para visitar este restaurante nuevamente. podría hacer si estuviera allí y en cualquier otro lugar estuviera ocupado. solo pide algo diferente para comer

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, we walked in by chance as the place we were heading for was full. We tried a variety of food and desserts and liked all of them especially the lamb chops and biryani. We will certainly go back. The service is exceptional, lots of smiles and nothing is too much trouble. Make sure you visit before the whole of Birmingham finds this hidden gem and claims it for themselves!

Awful food avoid at all cost half price menu was a joke

We went here due to the long queues today and it was a waste!!!!! Due to the extremely limited menu we almost ordered everything that was on the new menu; with new higher prices!!! we were out as a family with the kids, we were all hungry and just made the most out of the bad situation. I don’t know what was worse.. the food, the managers awful attitude or seeing Mister long fringe with his head almost in the oil strainer for the fries with no hair net. Not a single person was wearing a hair net I wouldn’t bother going again, better off going to Pepe or McDonald’s our stuffed chilliest under cooked, lamb chops burnt/ sent back to the kitchen and they came back burnt again. Beef burger-was actually a lamb burger... he insisted he brought the meat from the market this morning.. that’s your requirement for reliable sources for food products? Are these people even food safety trained?? 2 stars is generous!!

Este restaurante ni siquiera merece una calificación de 1 estrella. Los camareros son muy poco profesionales y groseros. El servicio fue insatisfactorio e inconveniente. Han estafado a clientes vulnerables con un 50% de descuento. La comida era blanda y fría. Fue una ocasión feliz y estaba deseando disfrutar de mi velada con la familia, pero en cambio mi esposo estaba enojado conmigo y arruinó nuestra velada. Es necesario cambiar el nombre del restaurante, ya que definitivamente no es Zindabad. ¡No había ensalada! La carne estaba seca y cruda. La comida enlatada sabe mejor que este restaurante. Mi día especial se arruinó. ¡Gracias por estropearme el día!

Menu changed to coincide with govt offer!!. Prices raised and really small portions. £12 for a tiny portion of chicken tikka masala curry. And prices for a can of coke were £2.50!! At least other establishments in star city have kept menu's and prices the same.

Vine aquí con algunos amigos en enero de 2020. Pensé en probar Zindabad en Star City. A su llegada fue recibido por una camarera profesional y educada. Me sirvieron en nuestra mesa. La comida era normal, nada especial. Pedí los kebabs de cordero sheesh. Estaban bien, pero nada especial. Las patatas fritas eran perfectas. Sin embargo, el problema se presentó a la hora de pagar la factura. Un camarero que parecía muy joven vino por la cuenta con la máquina de tarjetas, etc. Mis amigos pagaban con tarjeta mientras yo pagaba en efectivo. Pagué en efectivo y luego tuve que esperar más de 5 minutos para obtener mi cambio, lo que me frustró porque tenía que ir a algún lugar con mucha urgencia y el hecho de que recibiera mi cambio tarde era increíble. Luego obtuve mi cambio, pero el camarero me dio la cantidad incorrecta y se producen errores. Así que llamé a otro camarero que creo que era el gerente, le dije que “me dieron el cambio incorrecto para mi factura, por favor, ¿puede darme el cambio correcto? ”No me disculpo lo que sea, solo me dieron miradas desagradables. Muy decepcionado con el servicio al cliente hacia el final de mi experiencia en Zindabad. Obtuve mi cambio correcto al final sin disculparme. El personal seguía mirándome a mí y a mi compañero incómodo. No me sentí bienvenido en absoluto en Zindabad. Muy decepcionado con mi primera experiencia. Mi primera y última vez que pisé Zindabad.

the food on my first visit Dec 2019 was really good as I'd not had good like that for a long time service was very good, 2nd visit was equally good service was diabolical,;prices seemed but high, red2 visit was good again very good but service from bad to non existent promised to go back and give it another chance, went recently good again excellent service mum is improvement but don't think I'll be going back as it's getting expensive and service has let it down

Portion sizes were good. Variety of food was good. Good family experience.

How do i start my evening me and my missus went to zindabad restaurant bear in mind we went to this place by mistake the 1st time and the owner was there very nice guy don't know his name bold chap but all the food we ordered was amazing the king prawn handi was totally different the best I have had but this time I had gone would expect the place to be doing well but when walked in it was me and the missus that's how dead it was we sat down but this time no waiters only 2 young kids serving I feel that they haven't trained them up because they didn't know what to do what plates they take and what they leave on table we ordered bihari bootie there speciality well surprise surprise guy came back we dnt have go for chicken tikka so when our food came lamp chops where pink even though I asked it to be well done the chicken tikka like someone just dipped it in bbq also this where I think the place gone down hill we ordered a naan a the guy said go for peshawrie naan it's same price just butter after eating starters didn't enjoy it when we were eating our chicken Karahi was nice but again I asked for Spicey felt like someone put full sugar bag then when came to eat peshawrie naan which just has butter whilst eating realised it's got raisins and sent it back I have never written reviews before this am using my cousins account I have recommended so many people my family went 2 days ago and said was good but I didn't get what I got the first time either service and food needs to get better for customers to come in or try advertising the business so ure more busy and the waiters more active then i would like the feeling of zindabad which I had the first time when I went there

Fui a probar este lugar con amigos y debo decir que la comida fue preparada a la perfección, el servicio fue excelente y la comida salió presentable ya tiempo. Definitivamente lo recomendaría a otros y definitivamente regresaré con familiares y amigos.   PROS: pollo tikka botti, Karahi Handi, cordero biryani, papas fritas masala y mojito de fresa. Salsa de menta. Té de Karak? Contras: la salsa gol goppa era insípida y no recién hecha. Popadoms no era agradable, tenían un sabor distinto.

Honestly, the best alu parathay and chicken karahi ive had in Birmingham!!!!. Food is always top notch and the customer service exceeds the level of food!!. Who ever is training your staff needs to give everybody else a lesson in manners. Honestly could not be happier after my visit!!

Went today first time. Nice ambience and decore. Food was very nice and delicious. Nicely presented. Kids liked the food as well. Will definitely come again.

Lamb karahi was ok. Garlic naan had chunks of garlic on it. Lamb chops lacked flavour but were nice and moist. Malai boti and chicken tikka wasn’t great ... felt mushy like tenderised meat. Beef burger felt like a awful tasting kebab inside a soft bun. Cheap tasting ketchup, fries were smelly of reused oil! Mango lassi was ok. Great ambience and staff but sorry guys the food didn’t deliver on taste.

Appalling. Cups were not washed properly with dirt and fingerprints on them. Staff behaved strangely, stared and hovered over the two of us. Our orders came wrong; and when we notified them the “mash” potato arrived lumpy, in a ridiculously small portion. We requested our food be spicy and arrived very dry, bland and plain. Staff responded to this issue in an informal and discourteous manner. Menu was also vague, requires redesigning. Unsatisfied.

Brilliant customer service! I was served almost instantly, the staff were accommodating! I ordered Chicken Steak and Biryani Rice! They gave Mash and Fries with the steak which was a bonus as i only expected mash! Fantastic food! Will come again!

By far this is the best restaurant in star city! Arrived during busy hours, the staff greeted upon arrival... offering drinks and snacks... one of the members of staff Jamil recommended items off the menu ”Flaming BBQ Wings” and “Lamb Biryani” which was Amazing! Soft and juicy Wings! Biryani was full of flavour. The inside design was beautiful, clean and trendy.. Staff recommended Sweet Lassi and Desserts, tasted Fabulous..Thanks Jamil for the warming hospitality at Zindabad! Great for family and party events! Highly recommended!

Nice and cosy place with a good service. The food was good quality as well as the drinks. The restaurant is nicely decorated with comfortable seatings. Don't sit close to the enterence doors in winter. You will get a cold draught every time the door opens. Will be going there again

Im not one to leave feedback on a restaurant but this is a must. At first i wasn’t sure about visiting the place due to people saying they didnt like it. However this is now my 2nd time in a row coming here and i can honestly say its worth it. The food is nice, the atmosphere is beautiful, the music is good and the customer service is spot on. The lamb chops is a must! Will be visiting here again in the near future. Thankyou for the warm welcoming!

Went with my wife on Saturday Food was disappointing, I ordered charcoal cod fish which come out cold and it tasted like salmon, must of been stored right next to the salmon and also very little portions, the salad was dry and looked really old , I was still hungry after I finished my meal, wasn't worth the price. Service was slow, waiter with the beard was rude ignored me after I asked for something, had to walk to the counter to pay as no one was attending the table no once, not to even ask if everything was okay. Last but no least the didnt even have any basic sauces to eat with my meal. Would not be going there again.

Went here after a movie and was happy with the meal. Order a combination of starters, grilled chicken, couple of curry’s and naans. The food was actually really tasty and full of flavour. The stand out were the seek kebabs as they are huge and juicy. Also Ordered a prawn curry, which was good as plenty of prawns in their. Portions were decent and price was reasonable. Service was friendly but a-bit slow, as asked for mains and starts together to be brought together but wasn’t. Nevertheless would go again as the food was filling and tasted fresh.

Mixed grill is mouthwatering. Full of flavour and spiced just right.

The food and service was 5 star rating. Can’t complain about the food or customer service. All of the staffs was nice to us and food is 100% quality.

The reason why I gave this 3 stars was because the food that we had was quite messy, the lettuce was very oily as long side with the cheese melted and leaking, my dessert was frozen from the middle and was certainly not a chocolate mousse, and very overly priced. Zindabad you really need to change your prices on your menu because the food wasn’t as good as I expected it too be. However was really happy with the customer service, everyone was really nice including the boss as he handled things to make it right and he understood that the dessert wasn’t as good and decided to change it.

What a waste of time and money. We took the kids and even though we phoned in advanced stating we require high chairs, the staff seemed unhapoy that we bought our children with us. The waiter serving us did not smile even once throughout the 1 and half hours we unfortunately sat there. He also seemed only capable of using only one word at a time. Seemed like he didnt want to be there, maybe needed a holiday or had other issues. So very rude, it was if we were eating for free (which we didnt) and we were an inconvenience. Also the place was empty. I wonder why... we eat out twice a week but will never go to Zindabad again, thats for sure. Food average, Service - doesnt exist.

Very disappointing. I came here expecting great things. And to my surprise I found out they didn't even let me order a pork chop! I settled for the steak in the end. It was raw, the cow might as well still be running around in the field. On top of this there was a hefty lad coming over to me and asking for my number every 5 minutes. Overall poor experience. Dead cockroaches in the food. Poor variety and to top it all off, a beefy boy harassing me constantly.

One of the best restaurants I have been too! Absolutely beautiful to take pictures in and the staff and manager go above and beyond for every customer and ensure that they meet everyone's needs and provide an excellent customer service. The food was absolutely delicious and I loved it soo much that we booked my brothers 21st birthday party there and once again the staff went above and beyond to meet our needs and cater for our guests who had allergies and intolerances. The environment was spotless and the toilets are beautiful too I could not recommend this restaurant enough you will not be disappointed!

Now to the food, the starters of large mixed grill, nachos and diamond prawns were all very good. The mains... linguini alfredo was tasteless and the lasagne was average. Both the lamb and chicken karai"s were stunning. The chikcken biryani was also excellent. Same for the mango lassi and the oreo milkshake which were both excellent. Bill came to just over £110 which is reasonable. Overall, I would recommend a visit as most of the food is excellent and the staff all seem very keen to please...

Had been to the restaurant on Sunday the 29th..it was jus awesome everything was super delicious we ordered for Chaat,paani puri,lamb chops were jus amazing,aloo paratha prawn biryani were jus excellent...will definetly visit again

Service was slow however food was very tasty.... Beautiful deco,clean, spacious and reasonably priced.

First and last time I will eat at this place, food took ages to come and when it did come, some of the food was missing. Staff dont communicate with each other, they forgot to give my daughters drink and then gave it after half an hour and that was after telling them, asked for the bill and waiter took it to another table. Really disorganized place.

The food was ok, under spiced but the staff are massively disorganised and make plenty of mistakes with the order. The manageress is shocking. The staff can't take an order accurately and then blame the customer. The Manageress has an enquiry with the staff member and the customer. No way to treat your staff !

When I went there, I had a great time with my family. There was a lady who approached us as we were reading the menu, she recommended us the speciality of the restaurant and at the end we had ordered a chicken burger, a biryani,...

Worst place I have been to in a while. Restaurant was quiet yet food took ages to come. Service was poor. Waiters seem to not have a clue what they are doing, nor how to listen. Then gave the audacity to come to customers and explain that you as the customer said ordered things that you didn’t order. On top of that, the food was distasteful. Couldn’t even finish my half my place because it didn’t taste good. Only the masala fries were decent. Not to mention, the keema nan was given after I couldn’t eat anymore. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Really good setting with great staff and food was really nice. Our waiter Zahid was attentive and helpful. The decor is lovely and we found the place to be clean and well laid out. Food arrived at the right temperature and was well presented.

I have been to Zindabad Restaurant in star city few times, The service and staff are great especially Zaid. Love their steak menu but they never have T-Bone Steak for some reason. Would love to try that. Oreo milkshake is amazing.

Me and my brother went in today, thought it would be nice. Unfortunately it wasn't too expensive for what food quality you want. Ordered steak, chips and rice. Worst steak ever had, wasn't even cooked properly was watery. Staff didn't know what they were doing and just kept looking at us in a rude way. The uniforms wasn't formal shirts out with black trainers .

New name but amazingly good place to have Asian and Oriental dishes. Atmosphere was great. Service was efficient and food was yummy. Front desk manager was very friendly Surprised to have desert, tasty "Gulab Jaman" on the house. Definitely recommend for nice food.

Another great meal, the food was decent, prices were reasonable and service was really good. They have a lot more staff on the floor than last time we visited so getting service is quicker. A nice alternative place to Shere Khan.

Highly recommend this restaurant. The sheesh kebabs are the best I have ever had. Abir especially was an amazing person, he looked after us very well and recommended is some superb delicious dishes.

Pleasantly surprised by our experience here. We visited expecting the old restaurant to be there but it'd changed so out of laziness we decided to stay here! We hadn't booked a table on the Saturday but we were seated quite promptly. Ambiance is lovely for couple / friends and families. Music isn't too loud so you can actually hear one another whilst conversing, unlike a lot of other Birmingham restaurants! Steak was fantastic as was the stone baked pizza, couldn't fault the food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good quality food and well priced. Would visit again.
