This place is a treat to me on my irregular visits to Manchester, and I was quite surprised to find it very quiet. Normally it is heaving at lunch time. Great food, coffee and staff. A perfect place to sit and fill one's journal and write a couple of letters. There is a large screen TV in there now, which somewhat spoils the escape ethos it used to have, and makes it less likely to strike up conversations with strangers. However, if that is what the market demands, I guess I'll just have to adapt.

I've not been for a while and remember feeling last time like I didn't get great value for money however, Ziferblat seem to have really upped their game on the catering side with several choices of three soups/curries today, salad, quiche etc. Cakes remain a little on the cheap/uninspiring side but for anyone wanting somewhere comfy to work on a laptop without feeling rushed this place has everything you need!

I really like the laid back, no rushing atmosphere of this place. You're free to take your time to unwind, and enjoy the selection of food and drinks.I do wish the savory food was better for vegetarians, but overall this place is very good at covering different dietary needs. They were also nice enough to make gluten free cakes for a friend in my party. Which was amazing.

I was very sceptical about Ziferblat when a friend of mine suggested I meet him there - what sort of cafe provides unlimited food and drink and just charges 6p per minute? How could that possibly work? Well, to my great surprise, it DOES work. The place is really nice - a mixture of big comfy seats and tables. There's all manner of drinks - coffee (both filter and nespresso), tea (regular and herbal/fruit), hot chocolate... on the food side, there's cake, crisps, bombay mix, soup, and various other things.

I was really apprehensive about this, but my daughter persuaded me to go in and I'm so glad she did! I didn't really grasp the concept at first because I was thinking that there had to be a catch - a coffee can easily cost more than £3 and here was this space where an hour would cost £4.80 for me, less for my daughter with student discount and we could help ourselves!? There is no catch, that is what it is and if you want to stay all day you stop paying after 4 hours! All they ask is that you put your cups, plates etc in the dishwasher.

I really like this idea and it's so worth it, so much variation in cakes etc as well as savoury options and so much tea! Not only that but there's so many board games to keep you busy and if you want to make friends there are tables you can sit on where you can talk to and meet new people which is such an amazing concept.I know a couple of people get annoyed at having to wash up your own stuff and clean up after yourself (most of the time it's like put a dish in the dishwasher and put rubbish in the bin, not a difficult concept) but I feel for the price and quality of food is great, no complaints from me.I know this is primarily a business but I think this would be a good place for homeless people to come to (not because that's the vibe of the cafe but because of the actual concept) because if they could find 60p they could spend 10 minutes having a quick bite to eat and staying in the warm even for a short time but currently because you have to be buzzed in it currently doesn't seem plausible. But with such a great concept I'd love to see it put to good use in helping others

Nice concept, but it's a little pricey (8p/min, £4.80/hr, £19.20/day). They have board games, food (cakes, biscuits, cereal, ice cream, jacket potatoes, soup, etc), books, paint area, and drinks. The selection was nice, and I could see that bringing a few people for a few minutes would be a great idea. But I can't see how and why you'd want to spend around £80 for a family of 4 to come and play board games for a day... It might need some other pricing models to fit in the idea of children, etc.All and all, it's a nice concept, and will be returning.

Before you know it 3hrs are gone and £15ppThe coffees are nepresso and filter w/small cakes, cereal and toast, whilst it has 2nd hand furniture and the board games are dirty.Ok sure, on that basis it doesn't seem worth it. But it's hip and comfy as hell! And not gonna lie, central manchester has A LOT of pretentious 'trying-to-be-hip' cafes but this one was great.Plus me and my friends were playing cards against humanity amongst various of games there and time flew by, but I had an amazing time.In all, I can see some people not liking this place, especially the narrow and orthodox. Well I found this place by chance after doing a google search of coffee shops etc in Manchester city centre and well all I can say is thank god I did. From looking at reviews and on the facebook page I knew this was my kind of place. Me, my fiancee and 17 year old daughter all visited on a Thursday afternoon around 12pm and fell in love as soon as we walked in to what can only be described as a large sitting room. Staff were so friendly on arrival and talked us through the concept as was our first time. Felt so relaxing and homely like you had walked in to someones living room. Went straight to the kitchen astonished by amazing variety of drinks and the fact you just help yourself is wonderful. Everything is labelled in kitchen so you are not fumbling around in cupboards and drawers looking for things. I myself had a jacket potato which was have to say one of the best i have had with cheese and coleslaw out of the fridge. Fiancee and daughter helped themselves to toasties and pretzels and then we had some cake and a couple more drinks. The cost was £4.16 each, now i'm not being funny but we normally use costa coffee and a drink alone in there can cost nearly £4 let alone a sandwich and a cake as well. We enjoyed a relaxing time had some lunch enjoyed the atmosphere and for a very small price compared to other places if you had the same food. Washing up wasn't a problem at all, I mean you do it at home don't you? And there are dishwashers as well so you don't even have to put that much effort in.We will most definitely be back asap as it's our new favourite place to visit.

Upon entering Ziferblat I was taken aback by the casual nature of the place and genuinely intrigued as to the concept behind it. Unfortunately the price per minute/hour is not advertised properly and as such I warn people to think carefully about spending your money here. You can easily sit in a cafe with a brew for 2 hours without paying 9 pounds. To make it worth the money you have to shovel down a lot of food and coffee.. the food is basic.. stale poundshop cakes and cheap basic loaves of bread. I don't understand what makes this place any better than a cafe serving decent food? For 3 of us to sit there for a couple of hours and have a coffee and some toast each it cost £28.00!!! Madness. AVOID.

I think I'm falling in love this place. I've been three times in the last month. The way it works is that you pay 8p for every minute you spend in the place. If you spend more than four hours, the charge is capped at four hours. Everything else is completely free of charge so you can help yourself to tea, coffee, cake etc.Talking of which, there's a huge range of things to eat and drink. There are cakes and biscuits, bread, potatoes and fillings so you can toasties or jackets, soups, cereals, and even ice cream and lollies in the freezer. To drinks there's several varieties of coffee and tea, soft drinks and juices. What I like most is the main room. It's a huge space filled with a range of seating from squahsy sofa, through to a formal dining table and modern patio styles chairs and glass tables. There are bookshelves full of books and a shelf full of games. There's even a piano, which you are allowed to play. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed and informal, it's almost like you've been invited into someone's living room and told to make yourself absolutely at home. The staff are friendly and unobtrusive -they're as likely to be found emptying the dishwasher as behind the counter.

After upping the price I have had to drop out of my meetup groups held here; I don't drink tea or coffee, cake or cereals etc. It is just ten quid to sit with my friends with a glass of water for two hours. Can't afford that. I used to pay when it was 6p a minute, and cut my losses, but now I cannot afford it anymore. Not worth a long trip into manchester just for an hour, when the group stays over two and a half hours. Shame.Perhaps if there was some kind of discount for those who dont drink or eat? I like the idea of going somewhere and only paying for my time. I was in Manchester for work and spent a lot of time at Ziferblat. It had an uncanny feel of a hostel for the duration I was there. The food on offer was very sugary and you often had to hustle to get milk for your tea. The staff was nice, but I'm not sure I would use this as a co-working space on a regular basis. This is a great place to come and relax with a snack and a drink whilst in Manchester. However the recent price rise from 6p per minute to 8p has tipped it over the edge of not really being worth the money. Especially since you have to wash up yourself (and there's usually a queue for the sink). I still enjoy it, but I won't be visiting as often any more.

Ziferblat is a really wonderful space in which to meet, greet, work or relax. A great concept of paying by the minute (8p) and everything inside is free - terrific wifi, ultra comfortable lazy chairs and sofas, bit also tables large and small if require to work on. It's very clean and the staff are always topping up the snacks, cakes, biscuits etc. Hot coffee on tap, and there's a good array of tea to choose from. Lots of breakfast cereals also. Regular and dairy free milk & gluten free snacks too, but my only gripe is the lack of non-sugary foods on offer as this seems limited to bland cheese and beans for toasties, and some fruit on offer. Maybe some other savory or fruit snacks would be great. One of the best things about Ziferblat is the cost - they have a 4-hour maximum payment (currently that'll stand you around £16) but you can stay all day for that price! That's awesome! Even at £4 an hour would much rather be there than at any other coffee shop in the city if I'm in town to work or meet.

I have visited Ziferblat a couple of times in the past and really liked the fact you were paying for the time and comfort of being somewhere. It can get expensive in other cafes when you have to keep ordering in order to stay! It's a nice place too, not the place for a posh coffee and fancy food but still a cosy, comfy place to chat. The price per minute has increased from 6p to 8p which makes such a difference! It used to be a great place to relax for a couple of hours at a reasonable price but I don't feel it is anymore. I had a meeting there and 2 + hours was over £11 each which meant it would have been cheaper to sit and order a couple of nice coffees (or small meal) somewhere else & hog a table for the duration. Not sure I will go back at that price as would be worried about letting time fly. Great that dietary requirements are catered for, there is a bigger range of snacks and dogs are welcome :)

Heard about this new type of cafe, eat and drink as much as you like - you pay by the minute. We sat for about 90 minutes and the charge was a whopping £6.95, each - and you have to serve yourself. Don't like the thought that you have to wash up your pots up - some may not clean was well as others - better if pots where put in a dishwasher - least everyone will know the pots are clean. The biscuits where cheap as where the cakes, slabs cut into rough chucks, I saw cereals, soup tureens (empty) and bowls of cheese biscuits and pretzels. The place wasn't full but very noisy, then someone started playing a piano (badly). I saw lots of board games and kids toys. I think for the money, there are much better places in town.

Different to any cafe I've been to previously, you pay by the minute and serve your own food. The food is always delicious and the cakes and treats are to die for. We had the soup of the day also (I think it was chicken and sweet corn) which was lovely. There's a great range of teas which was great and meant we got to try a few of our favourites. You're never short of something to do as there are board games to keep you entertained. There are also tables where you can sit and talk to new people which I thought was a really interesting concept and would definitely return alone to this place as I would like to try it out. It's a great place for dates and first dates as you're never short of something to do, but if you stay there a while it could end up being quite expensive (6p a minute)

Lovely place to hang out in as there are lots of board games on offer. I would only recommend going if you are very hungry and thirsty though as it is around £5 for an hour there..

This social enterprise manages to bring everyone together and appeal to all. Because of the sheer freedom of choice for the customer and sensible prices for a quality offer. It's a must visit for us, even my teenager!

Wanted to visit either this branch or the one in Liverpool for quite some time now and I am glad I did. The concept is pretty simple - 8p per minute you spend there. It may be different prices on other days but this was a Friday midday. It's great if you want to relax and have coffee and cake or even cereal. There is also a lift making it more accessible. I would recommend this place to anybody!

Been there a few times and for some reason have failed to review it! Ziferblat is an amazing concept, you pay a small fee per minute and eat and drink anything available. But that's only half of it, the furniture decor general facilities are quite outstanding. There is a selection of books, games and newspapers. We love the place and always try to find time for a visit. The staff are brilliant and always ready to help you in a polite manner.

Called into Ziferblat for a date with my wife after a stressful day and it's the perfect location for us. I love this place so much, it's laid back and relaxed with no feeling of being rushed, a basic selection of cakes and biscuits along with toast and cereal along with a decent selection of tea and coffee is a nice touch. I can spend hours here just reading or playing a board game and relaxing on a comfy sofa just winding down before heading home.PLEASE NOTEThis is a self service place right down to putting what you have used in the dishwasher, I know this isn't some people's cup of tea (pun intended) so it's worth noting. There is plenty of seating from tables and chairs to comfy sofas and lounge chairs. There is a lift and disabled toilets making it easier for those with disabilities

Often when I travel I find myself missing that comfortably homely experience of sitting in a living room in a big comfy chair without any pressure to get up or move on. No longer! Ziferblat is a fantastic idea where the only thing you pay for is your time.8p a minute is very reasonable, and considerably cheaper than a coffee shop. No, you don't get service or overpriced cakes, but if I wanted that I would go to Starbucks. Here I can drink my coffee just as I like it, enjoy a biccie, a toastie, some cereal, whatever... just like I would at home. An eclectic mix of sofas, chairs and coffee tables all make for a comfortable any cosy space despite the size, and I found everyone there to be friendly and welcoming, giving it a feel similar to a friendly flatshare. In the middle of an intense city break I found it to be a real oasis of calm and visited again before the break was over.

A lovely place to just sit and play games with friends. Obviously you can eat as many of the treats as you want, and they have a large selection of games. I intend to come back a work here instead of in a coffee shop.

I am not making a promotion to this cafe/hangout place but I am amazed as it was my first time entering this kind of hang out venue. It was introduced by my uni junior when he decided to chill out for an hour. This is a unique concept of cafe providing facilities as follows:1) Games area equipped all sorts of board games, indoor games2) TV room or mini theatre for private movie screening3) A large room that can be used for tutoring session or seminars or offices meeting or private birthday party or just anything4) Internet cafe5) a few lounge areas6) Music or jamming room with all sorts of musical instruments. 7) Reading area or mini library. 8) Then there's a F&B corner where you can just help yourself to anything on that island, like a buffet with variety kinds of snacks e.g. pastries, sandwiches, cereals, biscuits, juices, coffee, teas. Don't expect fine dining, it's suitable for you to go for a hang out together and chat. And the charges were made per hour. How cool was that?

This is a nice place to call in for coffee and snacks where you serve yourself and wash up afterwards. You pay for the time spent there, not the tea, coffee or cakes, etc. Full of character with cosy seating. Staff are great.

What a pleasing place for 6p a minute! It's unique in so many ways. Concept is clever, and for the 3 of us, it was £18 for a 90 minute meeting, with free coffee, tea, cakes, biscuits, fruit, and even cereals if that's what you wanted! People were chatting, working, socialising, or simply being alone. Everyone looked relaxed and pleased! At the time of our visit there was a 5-hour cap, so 5 hours you pay 6p per minute, and an stay all day. No ties kind of place. Very friendly staff. Well done Ziferblat.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have been to this place and love the unique concept. 6p per minute, serve yourself for all you can eat/drink.There's always plenty of tea, coffee, juice and cake all day and other times of the day offerings such as soup, crumpets and ingredients for toasties are available too.The staff are ALWAYS polite, friendly and have a fun and outgoing sensibility. There's a piano, book exchange, board games, high speed wifi and some art supplies. There's also a weekly programme of activities too.The venue is VERY LGBT friendly. Couples of all types seem comfortable showing affection, there are even gender neutral toilets and baby change facilities. Dogs are welcome too - treats supplied!Keep up the good work!!

I like the idea but unfortunately it doesn't function as a 'work space' due to its high cost. It's 6p per minute; fine for a short stay but a few hours work is going to be expensive. Whilst everything inside is free, it is pretty poor quality and well below the standard of any coffee shop or even an airport lounge. What I especially didn't like was having to 'wash up'. Perhaps we can have a little service for the expense?

I visited this place when it opened for the first time. I was just intrigued by its bizarre take on billing for its services. I could never believe that I would like it that much. It looks like a big living room, with comfortable sofas. You can sit anywhere and move around as much as you want, drink and eat as much as you want and pay by the minute. If you are the type that likes to study, do work or simply read a book while having a nice coffee at a relaxed atmosphere, this is your place.

Really great visit. Was there just under and hour but I spent most of my time refilling my coffee rather than talk with my friend. Definitely would come again with a big group of friends to take advantage of their games.Only thing is that I could really tell who the staff were for assistance so maybe badges or lanyards or something

Such a cool little place with lots to offer and it's something different and refreshing. You would be surprised how quick the 5ps add up though, especially if a couple of you go! Still, very much worth it for the atmosphere and quirkiness.

Ziferblat as a chain/concept have had some press exposure recently and quite right. I visited the Manchester branch and was blown away by the mixture of people there. Students, families, couples and lone workers alike all blended together. The environment is welcoming and well thought out to be deliberately homely. You're encouraged to settle in and enjoy the space however you wish and help yourself to the food. When you consider the food think of the sorts of things you have at home. No fancy mustard, over priced breads or millions of sugar laden syrups just lots of different teas, biscuits, toast, cakes and you just help yourself. Those concerned by hygiene or lack of variety are missing the point. It's staples and washing your own cutlery to keep costs down and better yet the idea of all looking after everything together and respecting the space you're sharing.I genuinely love this place. I hope that it holds on to what makes it special - the feeling of being home from home and a place where you could go to make new friends in what I'm rapidly discovering to be a fantastic city. Folks it's not all about London and I'm a Londoner.Cost wise 2 hours of board games, loads of food, for 4 cost c£30. Everyone left happy and smiley.Highly recommended.

Used to be a regular visitor here for years. Visited 4 days ago and I will never go back. Food has changed . Not sure but I think he's using cheaper ingredients. Sausages used to be lovely . Now greasy cheap nasty food. I counted 3 tiny half's of mushroom on my plate. Black pudding was paper thin. Such a shame it's got like that. Crockery was filthy I had to send it back. Very dissapointed

We first phoned for a takeaway here 2 weeks ago when our regular chippy was closed. We've been so happy, we're staying! They were immediately helpful & friendly on the phone, reassuring us that their chips are cooked separately in veggie-friendly oil (rare, but important as one of us is vegan). We phoned around 7.30 (having phoned 3 other unsuitable places before!) & they were due to close at 8.0 but were relaxed and happy to allow us time to get there. The chips were delicious, even towards the end of service. The fish batter (for the one of us that eats fish) was crunchy & tasty and the fish (huge haddock) was succulent. Mushy peas were lovely too. The cost was reasonable and the portions were generous. Our experience has been consistently good on 3 consecutive occasions, and we're staying! Highly recommended! Thanks! 👍👍👍

The staff were fantastic apart from that, this is by far the most over hyped resturant I've ever been to. £130 for a pot of melted grainy cheese, 6 pieces of salami, some bread and roast potatoes and a round of drinks. Save your money
