Zest Bar & Grill in Doncaster

Visited whilst on a work trip, dined alone on a quiet Monday evening, service was brilliant, food was lovely, portion size was generous for the price.

Great food and beer. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

On my birthday, I went to Zest Bar & Grill. Every time I come here, I get excellent service, delicious food and always a nice atmosphere. I think the business is running well, which is very good. I would highly recommend this place.

Not a great experience. I’ve given a 3 ⭐️ for the atmosphere just because there was only two of us in, it was only 5.00pm though on a Monday. The service 1 ⭐️ because you could clearly sense they wanted us in and out because they were expecting a table of 9 and a table of 6 in and for duration of our meal dragged tables and chairs backwards and forwards to accommodate. We had no check back after the food had been delivered. We had no check when our plates were collected. We wasn’t asked if we wanted any more drinks or to order desserts. To add insult to injury I went to the toilet and the owner had run an extension cable along the doorway floor whilst I was inside and I tripped over it coming back through the door. The food a hesitant 2 ⭐️. My husbands tikka wrap he said was delicious. My burger was not hot and I could tell this before I even tasted it due to the length of time from ordering to arrival. Very poor service, I won’t recommend to my clients.

Managed to squeeze a party of 8 in, nice friendly staff,enjoyable food. Could maybe do with automatic door closing or people closing it after thereselves

Dinner wasn’t very good at all no taste at all was not impressed told staff wasn’t reluctant to not listening walked off and very pricey they forgot food for kids

Super fresh and lush cuisine fit for all Occasions. I always stop to catch the freshness of the spices! Amazing!!! The dressing of the Cesar salad is oscar winning! And the price is just so affordable! Super friendly stuff. This place stole my heart.Love it ❤️

Have dined as a family numerous times over the years, in fact we used to go on a weekly basis before covid. Not been for a long time so decided to stop by for a meal whilst we were out. Sadly it will be our last visit. Hubby ordered the fish skewer which was ok and he tucked into it. I ordered rump steak, a lovely cut usually, can be a bit chewy at times, but given where it’s cut from it’s a hard working piece which should be quite tender. Not mine, I managed to eat round the edges, but couldn’t cut through the middle despite having a steak knife so left over half of it. I didn’t kick up a fuss, but when the plates were taken away and I was asked if everything was ok, i explained about how I couldn’t cut never mind eat the steak. The waiter who was lovely said he’d pick it up with the chef - that’s fair enough. The lady who seemed to be the manager/head waiter asked if everything was in passing - she initially took our order earlier and seemed lovely - i explained about the steak, didn’t ask for another, didn’t ask for a refund - but wow she went straight into defensive mode telling me that it is what I should expect from rump steak!! Hang on, the restaurant is telling me that I should not have expected to actually cut into and eat it?? I was being pleasant in my initial explanation but ended by telling her they shouldn’t be putting a dish on the menu knowing customers would find it hard to eat. But low and behold, apparently a customer had the same dish earlier and told them it was like slicing through butter…..!!! Really. We won’t be going back. I wasn’t kicking off and just explained the problem when the food was taken away, the situation was poorly managed despite them knowing they are cooking dishes using poor quality ingredients. It’s a shame, Zest used to be the hub on the city in it’s hey day, not so know. No wonder it was 1/3 full when we walked in at 8pm on a Saturday night.

Spent the afternoon in here then the whole experience was ruined when a waitress refused to serve one of our party accusing him of being drunk. None of us were drunk, or anything like that. We were offended and embarrassed. We wanted to talk to the owner about this and he refused to talk to us - we won’t be going back

Quite a nice restaurant, but as is always the case, the fries are too greasy, the hamburger is tasteless and the chicken is too dry, the rest is ok, maybe the pasta is good, I'll check it out next time

Our party of 10 all had a fantastic experience by dining at zest... everyone loved their food....the food was amazing....from taste to quantity....the waitresses are very friendly...welcoming and professional...isha in particular who made our experience at zest Doncaster a fantastic time....she asked was we all happy with our food & made sure the birthday guest was looked after....which he had a 3 course meal free for his birthday....we would highly recommend to other's to dine here...can't say anything but good about our experience..Will definitely be back...if your looking for great food...served by staff who care about your experience then go here.

Service was quick, but the food was awful. Starter of mozzarella sticks was cold, had to send it back to be redone. Mains we had pasta, it was bland, tasteless and was almost like it was microwaved. One of the pasta dishes was the penne tomato chicken thing, where they covered it in pre-grated cheese on top, (which didn’t melt)! We got chips, they were cold on the outside but hot on the inside and were soggy. We were in and out within 30 mins. Doorbell system is strange and lacks human interaction.

Lovely staff that welcomed you with a smile explained the menu. Food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. Will be back the next time we are in Doncaster.

Nice warm welcome. Happy, friendly waitress. We had chicken skewers and piri piri chicken wrap. They were both fantastic, looked great, tasted great, just very nice, freshly cooked food. We really enjoyed our visit start to finish. Can definitely recommend.

I have visited Zest for several years and always enjoyed. Last night after a busy day at work I met my partner for a meal and drinks. We both ordered our drinks- I ordered a glass of wine and the waitress returned to say she couldn't serve me. I had walked from the train station without having had anything to drink and have never said anything or done anything untoward there before. I felt embarrassed and humiliated and didn't place a food order in the end and just wanted to get out of there. Awful experience.

I had the best Sword fish steak ever. The service was very good and they were very Knowledgeable about all thier food.

Delicious food and speedy service. It's always busy whenever we go in so make sure you book a table!

Lovely food always & great service from friendly staff

Not been for a few years food was perfect although this place is a few years old now its maintained to a very high standard still look great. My only gripe is no heating it was a tad cool inside but I do understand business like this is finding it hard to survive thus cutting back.

Had lovely meal for my birthday also because celebrating my birthday they put candle In my pudding and fetched it out lit and sang happy birthday lovely food and staff lovely very friendly

We went to Zest Bar and Grill for a family meal and we were so pleased. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The food was so delicious. We all ordered different things of the menu and everyone was so happy with their meals. Thank you Zest team.

Lovely place fabulous evening of food and drinks.

This is the best place I have ever eaten. All the staff are brilliant. I would give this place a gold star if I could... It is pristine. It has a fine selection of drinks. The lamb shank never seemed to end. It also does great cocktails. You can also sit with your dogs outside on the patio area. No complaints from me.

Great dinner for my sister in laws 30th. The chicken and steak fajita was very filling.

Chicken arrived uncooked , had to ask to re do it as cant risk being pregnant eating that. After they bring it all old and dry and definitely not fresh. Yuk. Atmosphere horrible too as full of romanians talking so loud no manners. The waitress whos older shes very pushy

Excellent food and service, as per usual here, we even got the birthday discount, as it was my sons birthday meal trip out with family. Not very bust as it was 18:30 booking on a Thursday evening.

Food was okay. Just a shame the person who seated us, said they would be back in a few minutes. Waited 15 mins, went to leave and a different person said. Was everything ok.. we explained what had happened n they told us it was bell service. Press the buzzer in-between the salt n pepper. When your not sat on top of it you can't see it.

Not sure what has happened to Zest used to love this place food is not the same , thought I'd give it another try on Saturday really disappointed with the food we ordered wont be going back !!!

We went as a large group and the service was fantastic. We were served by several people over the course of the night and every person was really lovely and helpful. The food was fantastic, we all had something different and everyone loved their meals, and the deserts were fantastic too, I highly recommend the cheesecake! One of the ladies asked why we were there, I had got a new job so we were celebrating and she told me my meal was on the house. A really lovely atmosphere and just a great place to go with friends.

Found this place off google just genuinely looking for a nice restaurant to go to as me and my partner aren’t from Doncaster, so glad I found this place we sat in there until it shut because we didn’t want to move! Food was so lovely, all staff were so helpful and the drinks were lovely too.

Lunch out to celebrate my daughter passing her nursing degree. Service good, food lovely and never feel rushed.

I had the chicken penne pasta with additional garlic flatbread. My daughter had a burger. Was tasty and a pleasant atmosphere.

Service was poor, staff rude, food bland and only just warm, there was plenty but just no taste to anything, the chips looked lovely but ended up been soggy and cold, won’t be returning

The food has always been decent when we visit and the chips are always fresh and homemade. The meat has tasted frozen/rubbery the past few times I’ve been though.

Dear manager, Incorrect change brought, so no service tip left. My family and I are visiting from the USA, total cost was £32.90 and I paid 54£ (wanted to break to smaller bills). Server brought back £17.10, sooooo no tip for you. You think I can’t do math. You were going to get a service tip that was larger (c’mon, we’re Americans, you’re getting 20% if it’s not included as a service fee). So, you shorted yourself £2.48. Great job with your sticky fingers. FYI, manager, we were there approximately 1200-1300 for lunch on 7 June in a curved booth table with a view of the kitchen / grill and server station. Thanks, great chef, but won’t be back because of the end of service.

Had a birthday meal for my son .he Chose zest we hadn,'t eaten here Before but we'll deffo be back.the Food was superb.l love kleftico had It allover. Europe during holidays To greece and turkey and the dish I had here was probably the best I have had absolutely gorgeous

Still a good place to eat and search w it always good. Needs a bit of a refurbishment though as looking dated.

Four of us stopped by for lunch. The prawn were very rubbery. The mixed was cooked lovely. Panini was good. No Guinness so had caffery which was cloudy not nice.

Amazing service, amazing food with not so big prices

My husband and I came here for lunch. All the staff were lovely and the food was really nice. I ordered chicken skewers and my husband ordered mixed fish pasta. Both dishes looked really nice and had lots of nice flavours. I like the buzzer service as you are able to get service when you want it, and the waitress came over quickly each time.

Family went here for my grandson,s 18th birthday, what a fabulous time, food was amazing, staff were outstanding went above and beyond to make us very welcome, thank you to all staff 😀

We decided to visit Zest on saturday last , arriving at 7:15 which I would guess to be its most vibrant time . Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table , given menus and given time to consider our choices.as we selected drinks my partner decided to opt for her favorite cocktail while I selected a premium lager , we sat enjoying and waiting for our meals to arrive. Our wait wasnt long despite the Amount of customers in there , everything arrived beutifully served and tasting delicious. May I comlement the waiting staff, the bar staff and of course the chefs behingd the scenes on a marvellous isit . One we will repeat

This place hasn't changed much over the years, the food is nice. But the menu and the venue need a little updating now. But I would recommend this place for a meal.

It was my birthday, got a free 3 course meal. You need 3 people ordering a adult meal to get yours free. Food was delicious. Quick service.

We really like Zest. The food is great and the lunch menu portions are generous. It's a nice place with friendly staff and the push button method of summoning staff is excellent. More restaurants ought to have it.

the waitresses were absolutely amazing but the chef well where do I start. our steak was sent back 3 times because it was not cooked properly, even the waitresses agreed, but the chef refused to serve us in the end and he spoke to the waitresses like crap. Will definitely not be coming again until the kitchen staff are sorted.

We went on a Sunday evening and was early for the booked table but this wasn't an issue. We was shown to a large booth with plenty of space to relax and not be squeezed in. Every course we had was delicious and well presented. The cocktails are fantastic and reasonable priced This little gem is something we have missed when looking at local places to eat but will definitely be back.

Went in at 11am for a quick meeting with a few people. Was told that we had to move tables because we were only ordering coffees. Which I wouldn't mind, but the place was completely empty. Also, just because I wasn't ordering food today, doesn't mean my friends and I don't normally. Next time, we'll head to Relish or Tatoo'd Goose. If you go in as a group and only want a coffee, they don't like it. Grind took care of us and actually made us feel welcome.

It's always good food when I come here! Last weekend however I had the spaghetti bolognese off the lunch menu, don't get me wrong.. it was nice, just a little bland for my liking. Value for money is always amazing however, and the staff are always on it aswell!

Pre booked meal with former work colleagues. There was about twenty of us, so we booked and pre ordered in advance. The restaurant have always accommodated us, we've had several gatherings here and it's always been a pleasure. Food is brought out en masse so no one is waiting whilst others eat. It is always delicious, portion sizes are generous and a great atmosphere

Went tonight for my daughters birthday. There were 10 of us. Food was very nice and big portions. The service was very good Definitely recommend a visit and will be visiting again thank you

We had meal as a couple new years eve ..staff we really nice and attended our table quickly as and when needed them .had a bell on the table to press .cocktails where nice as was the food ..no complaints from us at all .Will deffinately return.

Booked a table few days in advance for zest for a family members birthday for a certain time. On arrival we was told the table we were suppose to be sat at was occupied by other people (loads of other tables completely empty) we was then told we had to wait another 2 hours for our table when we have to young children and was told to wait at the bar when we had phoned days in advance to book. Shocking service very unprofessional will not be visiting again. We ended up going to the grind which is absolutely fantastic with amazing service.

Food not cooked, pork was raw. Didn't hsve everything on menu. Cold.

We ordered some starters and some meals I had a steak with chips that was amazing 2 others had burgers and my mother had a mixed skewer with a pork chop. The pork was Bleeding raw on the plate blood was oozing out when my mum cut into it. Raw pork caused food poisoning so this was not good when we spoke to a waitress we was told that is how they cook the pork. Do not order pork here but everything else is fine .

What a disappointing day... went with friends for my birthday should have had my meal for free to be told at the end i needed photo I'd at the point of paying the bill it doesn't state photo needed just say proof required food was nice but bad service in my opinion they should ask for your I'd before you order thinking your getting a free meal. Ended up paying for a starter and a desert I didn't really want managers discretion was really poor no common sense at all.

We were at a meal with friends and Sarah shouted across the restaurant at a colleague. So unprofessional and rude and really ruined our experience.

We opted for Zest as a last minute change to plan, I hadnt eaten here since before the pandemic and they didnt disappoint. The food was really good, portion sizes were more generous then I remember them being which was an added bonus. We didn't have to wait long for starters or mains and everything was cooked perfectly. It was my sisters birthday and she had ID so her meal was deducted from the final bill which was a nice touch. We will be back for future birthday celebrations. The only negatives are that the desserts are quite expensive that put us off ordering and the starters menu seemed quite small too.

We went into Doncaster to see the new King and Queen visit and reserved a table at the Zest in case they got very busy. We arrived early, 11.30 with lunch booked for 12.30 but we learned that our Royal visitors would be there between...

Very friendly staff and a great vibe.

The only good thing about this place is the food. The service on the other hand is appalling. The staff are slow and incredibly rude. Unfortunately the poor service really impacts on the enjoyment of the food. There were 5 servers on at it took...

Had two small thoroughly mediocre grilled fish skewers with a small handful of mushrooms for a side. Absolutely below what I'd expect for £18. Staff were excellent but would definitely not go back.
