Rioja in Doncaster

We had a funeral buffet here 28.4.23 All was absolutely beautiful, the food was exceptional and the service was excellent. Thank you to Lee and David for making the day special. Our guests said it was the best buffet they had ever had and great choice of drinks .

Wow! what can I say, food absolutely lip smacking, service on food and drinks A⭐️. Ordered from party menu and couldn’t manage dessert so a percentage was knocked off. Can’t recommend enough!!

Arranged to meet friends at our local, didn’t book as we wasn’t eating, walked to the bar and Lee the owner said have you booked we said no he said well there’s no tables but then told us there was a table for 2, our friends were to join us 10 mins later so not a seat for them, he could see we were stood, all the time we were there 2 regular customers were sat on a table for 6 people, clearly some favouritism going on! Went to the Maple as would rather give them our money than someone who’s not bothered about custom

I’ve passed this please most mornings to collect paper from the shop next door. Unfortunately and at my cost I have never given Rioja a second thought. However, I decided last week to give it a try. Wow, what a surprise, first of all the place is pleasant small basic in its seating but spotless, it’s cuisine is a take on tapas, but with good size portions, we had, the Nachos, a chicken dish, a steak and mussels, so plentiful we had to leave a little. We accompanied the meal with a bottle of white wine, a mix of Chardonnay and Sauvignon, which was excellent, by the way the wine glasses were clean and shiny, always a good sign. The service was excellent and the cost reasonable at £60. This won’t be my last visit. I rated it 4/5 however it’s nearer 4.5/5

The dishes are amazing and decent portions well presented. Drinks are good too no dirty or worn out glasses. The place also really nice and a little quirky so really worth a visit.

I live in Spain and was visiting family in Doncaster. The tapas was fantastic. Better than any tapas I have had in Spain. The two young ladies who served us were absolutely lovely. Cannot fault this restaurant 😊

No paella??? Really at a tapas restaurant!!!

We were a group of 4 friends. When we arrived we were placed on the six seater table in the middle of the restaurant. Greeted by lovely staff, very quick service. We found the seats to this table very uncomfortable, so we asked to move to a different table with more comfortable seats. The staff were great about this and we were moved. We were advised to order two dishes each because the portions were large, to be honest we should have ordered three each what we normally do at a Tapas because we found the portions were not very generous. The service was great with happy staff. Great live music and great atmosphere.

Ok. Not the best place I've been to but not the worst either.

Welcoming staff, pleasant interior, great menu choice and the food was delicious. Our electric vehicle journey planner, from the north east to Suffolk brought us to the EV charger round the corner. We recharged ourselves at Rioja!

I have been a few times to Rioja and enjoyed the food.However the catalan bread was previously fresh tomatoes on crisp baguette. Yesterday it was a soft bread and a tomato paste which made it soggy.also the olives were huge and bitter .bring back the old catalan bread and lively small olives

The food was great in its variety and taste. Atmosphere was good with low and high tables creating a rustic feel when coupled with the decor. Wine was good value for money. Staff were slow and lacked any warmth

Amazing and tantalising variety of tapas. Excellently presented and very appetising. Service extremely attentive and friendly. Fantastic atmosphere which made our meal with family all the more enjoyable. Would highly recommend, can't wait to go back and try more dishes.

Went for breakfast. Eggs florintine with added advacado & hulliomi was aboustly gorgeous ( couldn't eat it all though) daughter had banoffee pancakes again gorgeous. Staff polite and friendly . Would highly recommend.

Called in after work for a drink. Ordered drinks and Breads with olives. 25 minutes later bread hadn’t arrived and we had finished our drink. Mentioned to staff who were very unfriendly with no apology and just said 2 minutes Waited nothing happened, asked to cancel and staff just said ok! No apology! Overall felt unwelcome

We went with some friends on Saturday night for tapas and drinks. I’ve been before and always enjoyed it whether it be breakfast or dinner. This was our first visit since before lockdown, the menu had lots of choice and the food was delicious. I love the laid back atmosphere here and can’t wait to go again!

Highly recommend the tapas,we had breads and olives followed by Iberico pork - Salt cod, px Chicken and sizzling prawns - the food looked amazing and tasted equally as good, this is not your average tapas restaurant we cant wait to go back and try it again

Met friends tonight for tea, the best meal iv had in a long time, I had chicken breast burger with chorizo and mozzarella, stunning! It was also beautifully presented on a wooden bored. They have got it so right in there 👍🏻

Eating at rioja has become somewhat of a regular thing for me and my mates. The bar it’s a brilliant place decorated in a really trendy up to date fashion. The staff are always very attentive coming o er to the table welcoming us and taking our drinks order. The menu is extensive (I’ve had both breakfast and main menu, both brilliant) there a huge range of tapas dishes, pizzas and build your own burger. We went on Saturday and had the tapas. Every dish was amazing and the presentation was brilliant. I really can’t recommend this place enough

My wife and I called today for a coffee and ended up having the 3 tapas for £15The tapas were larger than some places we’ve been to, and really can’t fault the quality. Don’t know her name but the young women with glasses was lovely and very friendly and polite we got on really well with her.Nice setting and will return. It would have been a 5 rating apart from the main door. Every time it was opened it was cold as it didn’t shut properly.If you’ve not been give it a go. We’re going to go back and try the breakfast options as they are also different

I absolutely love Rioja. The atmosphere is so welcoming and very relaxed. The food is absolutely delicious and so well presented. I’m very impressed with how flexible the chef (Dave) is in terms of catering for vegans - the pancakes are so yummy, plus the avocado/ mushroom toast - to die for! They also have oat milk (the most sustainable dairy-free milk). I highly recommend a visit!

Nice atmosphere and good reception. Table for 6 easily sorted by pulling the tables together.Friendly waitress took our orders. Only our table ordered food but waited nearly 40 minutes for it to arrive!All dishes were a fair size for Tapas apart from the chicken skewers. 2 of us had them and commented that they were tough, dry and cold. Had someone come to ask us if everything was OK with our meals we would have told them.Only when the waiter came to collect the plates did we say anything. He nodded and muttered something but clearly wasn't going to pass our comment on which was a shame.Customer service could be improved. Overall the food was good shame about the chicken.

I have been meaning to try this place for absolutely ages, and finally today I did. Just had a lovely long lunch with a friend, we ordered five Tapas dishes and bread (with olives and oils and butter) - and there was enough food to feed four people! Thankfully we are both greedy so there wasn't much waste. The Tapas were absolutely delicious with bags of flavour (the star of the show for us today was their confit salmon with muscles and a scrummy cheesy creamy sauce). It is a perfect and relaxed place for "grazing" with friends. Service was lovely and informal, a great find and I will definitely be back

Great place never fails to disappoint, friendly staff, good food at a reasonable price in a trendy setting. We go here at least once a month and there are always new things on the menu to keep us interested. Well worth a visit.

We visited Rioja on Saturday lunch time to meet with my brother and family who live local. How we wish this was local to us!!! The food and service were both excellent. Large selection of drinks. We had the cocktails which were delicious. A very nice atmosphere and surroundings. We will definitely be back in the New year.

Fabulous little tapas bar! The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. The wine list had loads to choose from and even plenty of cocktails on offer. Ended up ordering the burgers as we were very hungry. The burgers were good quality with homemade chips. Nice that you can build your own as well. Definitely will be returning to have the tapas and try breakfast!

What a great decision - Nice atmosphere & wonderful food. Won't be long before we return with friends this year.

My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. Excellent food for a reasonable price, just remember to bring a doggy bag!

Its been a few months since we ate here, we booked a table for breakfast on a fairly busy Friday morning. 1 person working, who seemed rushed off her feet. she came over promptly, took our coffee order and when she returned after a longer than i would of liked wait, with our drinks, we ordered our food.

Nice, quiet, pleasant, well priced and full of flavour food with different menus for breakfast, lunch and later in the day. Opens early so you can have a nice breakfast

Myself & my husband booked a table for last Saturday night at Rioja - amazing food for both starters & mains. Very generous portions, I couldn’t eat all mine! Beautifully presented as well. The restaurant was very quiet which seemed such a shame for a Saturday night. The young girl at the bar was lovely & polite. You definitely need to visit to experience the tasty well presented food. A great find.

Great breakfast and good cocktails

Waitresses were great, waiter not so. Please cafes if you advertise that you use a specialty coffee roaster, in this case Forge, do them the honor and prepare the coffee properly, I was served a flat white too hot and badly extracted, tasted like an ashtray.

We visit Rioja quite often as its local to us. Always really enjoyed the tapas style menu and never had any complaints about the food. Personally i didnt think things needed to change but obviously the management thought something was missing/not working.

Went here with family for the first time! Great place! Food and atmosphere is fun! Fab cocktails and reasonable priced!

We actually ate here several times in early May and tried a few different menu items. My favourite was the eggs Benedict and my husband enjoyed the mushrooms with blue cheese the most. The regular breakfast was quite large and filling. My husband chose the tapas special both times which included bread, patatas brava and one choice. On our first visit, the bread was served fresh and my husband really enjoyed the dip. On our second visit, the bread arrived toasted. There was a very large pat of butter almost as big as a slice of cheese on the tapas plate on each visit. The Hollandaise sauce was very tasty and I would definitely choose it on another visit. I think they serve the breakfast items until 2:30 during the week.

Excellent food and friendly staff

Haven't even tried the food yet but have a nice feel about the atmosphere. Enjoyed a chat and drink of beer then coffee with staff and felt instantly welcome. Will try the tapas probably next visit. Sat outside first and was offered a blanket because of dodgy weather then sat inside for coffee ☕

Just dropped in for Brunch. Had the fish cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise. Washed down with a pint of Meantime IPA. Sat outside with my wife in the sun. All fantastic!

Excellent food and service, definitely returning!

The food was a poor excuse for tapas. It was bland, cold & confused. We waited almost an hour for our dishes to arrive & although all 4 of us felt hungry, promptly left over half of it. I felt sick after eating greasy horrible chorizo. The Canadian waitress was lovely & deserved to be running her own restaurant. She knew without asking that it wasn’t good enough, immediately reducing our bill without the need of being challenged.

Just had a lovely breakfast wow so nice! Nice and hot and great value. The hallumi fries on the vegi breakfast were gorge!

Excellent venue whether you go for breakfast, lunch or tapas in the evening. Great during the day for meetings too. Always a nice place to escape too.

The girls tonight were attentive. However it was cold in there. The main door into Rioja does not shut properley so my husband got up from his seat to shut the on four occasions because of draught.

Coffee was on the small side, but beautifully presented and reasonably priced. Quirky decor, really nice.

If wanting to take advantage of this extremely good offer then it's important to book as the venue can become very busy. This menu costs £16.95 per person. Each person initially orders 3 dishes each from a varied selection on the menu to suit all tastes and dietry requirements. The dishes come with bread and red wine reduction/oil for dipping which are do good. The option once the 3 dishes per person are devoured is to then order another one/two per person until basically each member of the party is pleasantly stuffed!. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive and the rioja was one of the nicest I've tasted... and I've sampled a few. A lovely evening

Fantastic food and great service

Visited with work colleagues. Had two sharing platters which were very nice and a bottle of wine. Nice ambience. Plenty of choice on the menu. A bit pricey, but I think that Tapas in general is very overpriced and not a reflection on Rioja.

Very good experience... And will be going back But I could whinge about few things... Invest in better quality bread... Dont serve tiger loaf its just not right... And instead of vinegar and knob of butter... Serve olive oil and vinegar... Also aioli is way too mayo like...
