Fair play I travelled down from Pontypool and I must say it was worth it, great friendly staff spotlessly clean and the fish and chip meal I had was the best I've had in a long time 5/5

Bit disappointed this time ordered 2 gravy and chips got home to see no gravy on one of them!!!!!

Nice new shop layout... but that's about it. Looks like they've spent £££ but couldn't upgrade their sandals.. not very hygienic.. a uniform wouldn't go amiss either. Unfortunately its unjustifiably expensive for ridiculously small portions... apparently inflation is 300% in this place. They've priced themselves out... Edit: I'm glad you've updated your uniform. Bear in mind this review was based on my experience almost 2 years ago

I've always come here, chicken curry, half and half, perfect. Best chips in Canton.

My favourite chippy in Cardiff with a decent range of options. Also the "Irish" curry sauce is my favourite! Also the fish bites are great.

Visited for the first time since the refurb. Extremely disappointed. Prices have sky rocketed. Ordered a large bag of chips, they cooked them in front of me for 2 mins so were obviously partly cooked. By time I got home, which is less than 5 mins away they were cold. Even worse, they were what I can only describe as 'scraps' of chips (not batter). On top of that, the quantity was so small that there wasn't enough for an adult and child of 5 so I ended up buttering some bread to dip in the gravy I bought for my chips (which I didn't have as there wasn't enough for the 3 of us). A large bag of chips in other chip shops in Canton is sufficient for 2 adults and a child and at a more reasonable price. Definitely will not be buying from here again.

Had fish & chips curry sauce And a Kebab. Service was very good but all the food was cold when I drove home about 2 minutes away. And very expensive!!!

We had haddock and chips. Portions were of good size. The food tasted fresh. It could have done with more salt and vinegar.

The prices are a bit nuts, but this is a really good fish and chips; the batter is crispy and fresh, not too greasy, and the fish is beautiful - the chips are fresh and thick and seem to be made to order, and their Irish curry sauce is on point - £12 for a haddock fish and chips with a sauce and a can is mental though, shame, it's the only thing holding them back from a perfect score, it's a lovely shop and nice staff too, really enjoyed my experience

This recently renovated place is great for all crowds. Family or friends. Their tables can hold up to 8. And plenty of selection. Tried their new curry flavor. Compliments the other curry. So will buy both every time.

They deserve all of their awards! The people who complained about portion sizes are ridiculous. I couldn't even finish the food. The food was cooked fresh and it tasted great. The fish was really flaky and the chips were perfect. Also, it was very clean inside.

Had a lovely time. The food was fresh and really nice. Staff were friendly. The surfaces, tables, and floor were really clean. I didn't see any dirt. I had the homemade chicken curry with chips, it was really nice. Partner had to mixed large Kabab, ate it all. Would recommend.

Great of you're happy to pay for their refurbishment as the prices have increased by at least a third for much smaller portion sizes. No pies and missing a lot of "chippy" items that they sold previously. They close early and if you arrive half hour before closing then there's nothing much left and they won't cook fresh for you. Disappointing.

Called in yesterday evening and purchased chicken breast, potatoes fritters, tray of chips with gravy all really nice, tasty and cooked to perfection. Also ordered haddock and chips meal with mushy peas which was definitely cooked fresh as I was able to watch this happen due to layout of kitchen delicious!! the best I've tasted for a long time and I've tried most fish and chip shops in the area. Thank you to the attentive staff I will definitely be back soon.

They have massively raised prices but drastically reduced portions. The quality of the chips has gone downhill and they moved away from bags of chips to trays exclusively. It's just not traditional. I honestly believe they make calculation errors and omit items from orders on purpose. It happens so frequently. The shop looks modern but it's so big and always empty. All in all, it looks like a bad move from the owners. Get back to basics. Penny pinching will ruin your business.

Always liked this place but on last visit, the guy behind the till charged me more than what it should have been. Was only a £1 but its principal. If their prices have gone then they should change them on their menu board. On that basis I didnt question it, but if they are overcharging customers that's not on. £1 extra on every customer would amount to a fair bit.

Shocking portions barely feed a rabbit with a "large" bag of chips. Gone really down hill quality was equally as shocking as the portion size.

Food is dry, bland and disgusting. I’d recommend Canton Fish Bar which is a little further down or Fintans if they re-open.

1 tip: Do not go there around 5 o'clock as you will have stale food from lunchtime.. the chips were dry and my fishcake was totally inedible! I was going to ring and complain but they knew what they were doing to give you overcooked and dry food , hence the bad review !

Believe the signs and notices...it is the best chippie in Cardiff. The chips are always the freshest and clearly cooked in fresh oil. The fish menu is a bit limited....you can have anything as long as it's cod.But it's always cooked to perfection and menu includes great kebabs and other delish wares. Add in the friendliest service...why go anywhere else?

This is by far the best place to buy your fish and chips in Canton. they have won numerous awards for the quality and portion size of their food Keith Chegwin Awards etc. it has a five star rating for cleanliness. the owners are lovely people, I used to deliver their chickens to them years ago and I was so glad when I moved to the area that this chip shop was my local. can't fault it, great potion best tasting cod and the rest of the food is nice as well. good stuff 0 +

Bought a burger yesterday and been sick ever since. Had these burgers several times before and they were fine, so it would be interesting to know what was wrong with this one.

Just had the worst cold scraggy chips ever from zero plus. I've been going there for years and will never ever go back. The owners are so grumpy and rude they can stick there scraggy ends where it hurts.
