Dinner here was good. Staff looked after us well as a big party. Food very tasty. It is not located in the best area with street parking only. But definitely one of the best Asian restaurants in the city.

Our table was booked for 7pm, we waited in a very crowded bar area and eventually got seated at 7.20pm. Shortly after 8.30pm the bill arrived on the table as the table was needed back again! The background music was so loud we could not have a conversation, not a relaxing place to eat. The food was mediocre at best, won’t be back!

Bad restaurant, I booked a table 3 weeks earlier for our wedding anniversary, we arrived 10 minutes early unfortunately we did not get a table and had to stand in a crowded place for 40 minutes after two interventions we got a table. We ordered starter drinks duck with mango, honey pepper chicken, egg fried rice, The starter is good, the chicken is similar to better takeaways, the duck is very poor, the sauce is completely artificial and the rice is tragic, we were very disappointed never again

We came here for lunch and it was my first ever visit and after the last three places I visited I did not have high hopes, how wrong was I? the place is spotless and everyone is so friendly. We were shown to our seats and given our menus, I chose spring rolls and for mains honey chicken. When the spring rolls came out they had been freshly made from scratch and tbh did not last long as I was really hungry. Then came the main meal and it was nothing short of brilliant. Again it did not take long to eat. In-between they kept topping up my water glass and kept chatting to us to make sure everything was ok. For dessert I had Banoffee cheesecake and it was 10 noms on the nom scale and beautifully presented. I would recommend this to anyone and I have no hesitation in giving it 10/10 . Thank you for the best experience ever .

Happened upon this place and were delighted with our find. Funky atmosphere with dance music playing, & neon lighting. Restaurant was busy but service was great, and we enjoyed cocktails and wine. Food was fresh and piping hot. After a long day and not feeling very decisive, we opted for the set menu option which was lovely. Fresh & vibrant duck salad, crispy tempura, and wonderful fresh prawns in a sauce I could have drunk, along with sizzling beef. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would absolutely recommend

We didn’t book but they had a spare table for just one hour if we wanted to take it … so the we took on the challenge of demolishing 3 courses in that time! Boy are we glad we did! Absolutely delicious food! I was a bit disappointed that the dishes we usually order from a Chinese weren’t on there, but having eaten the Honey Chicken and Satay Chicken, I’m glad they weren’t because the Honey Chicken was the nicest thing I’ve ever eaten at a Chinese. The soup was lush, the duck pancakes really tasty. I honestly could not fault the flavours. I just wish we’d booked so it was a bit more spaced out and I could have finished off with a cocktail (their signature cocktail is supposed to be amazing) Still thinking about that Honey Chicken back home in England!

Folks all I can say is this was one of the best meals I have had in a long time,it is a very busy restaurant so would recommend you maybe go online and book your table,the decor is fantastic the staff are so friendly taking time to have a brief chat even with the restaurant being so busy.the food is amazing plenty of choice and value for money.10/10 for everything well done Zen

went for a birthday dinner and don't regret, the service was excellent and all the staff from waiting to bartenders were very warm and welcoming, then with that the food and drinks were on Parr. we tried the house cocktails and the cherry blossom one was even better than I expected! the food came fast which I was surprised about as we had booked for a Saturday evening and everything was hot and fresh. The coconut and shrimp salmon curry wasnt overpowering and I genuinely couldn't have asked for better food my only problem is that I want to go back again asap!

Booked for dinner weeks in advance for a table of 5. We arrived to be given a table downstairs which clearly seated 4 with an extra chair added on the end which was the walkway through to the bar!! We were placed beside the door and the draft was awful, we asked to be moved but told we’d have to wait 45 mins. The wait for drinks is poor they arrived after our starters and the food was mediocre to say the least!! As for the background music, well it’s certainly not background!! Felt like we were sitting in the middle of a nightclub playing techno all evening, all in all it will be an experience I won’t be doing again! Have messaged zen twice about this with no acknowledgement.

Very disappointed. I had eaten at Zen one evening before and our meal was very good. On this occasion it was lunch. Both main courses were very poor. Beef was meant to be fillet, it was tough and dry and tasted like it had beef reheated. The garlic prawns came in a congealed type sauce.

My wife booked a table at Zen to celebrate my birthday. Zen had been recomended to us by a number of people and we were looking forward to going. Our table was booked for 7pm and on arival we were shown to our table downstairs and we then ordered our meal. the atmosphere was noisy but that was good as there was a nice vibe and buzz in the restauraunt. However, just before our main course arrived, the background music stopped and was replaced by party music played at an exceptionally loud volume, meaning that we were no longer able to carry out a conversation from one side of the table to the other. The music carried on for about 10 minutes and was then followed by what turned out to be a 'comedy' show. This was also at an excessivley loud and intrusive volume. in addtion to this the entertainer was foul mouthed, vulgar, and simply repeated crass, crude inuendo filled and frankly offensive language. this was all simply forced on us as the volume was so loud. We ate our main course as quickly as we could, paid and then left. We were hugely disapointed that our evening had come to such an abrupt and an upleasant end. Our issue is not with the fact that Zen had a 'comedy' show and all that came with it - obviously they can have whatever entertainment they wish, but our issue is with the fact that there was no warning that this going to happen - nothing on social media. If we had known we could have picked a different time to come. but this was forced on us without choise and completely ruined what we had been looking forward to, as a plaseant birthday celebration. The food was good and the service was good but all this was very much overshadowed by the 'entertainment' around us that simply ruined our evening - unable to carry out a conversation and bombarded with offensive, crude and foul mouthed language.

To start of with the guy who meet us at the door was on another planet .I told him my name and what time and a table upstairs which by the way was booked by phone 28 of December . But just pointed blank refused me and told me i would have to wait 45min I told him I had a show to go to, and it did not suit me. He brought us to your table, which was so bright lit and in a bad position, everyone was walking past us which was so rude then we have food unforgettable. I have been in some establishments, but this one is the top food was awful drinks were poor .And as for Alex he needs to get a new personal transplant. So dismissive about the whole thing.really we pay for our food and drinks. We expect good service and not to be treated by children. So if you are looking for nice food and good drinks Please rethink this one not a nice experience .!!!

Thought I’d give into the hype and give Zen another go after 5 yrs, regret set in fast. Starter and main lacked substance Noodles tasted like paper Overpriced, too loud Beer served in a water glass Many better options in belfast at a fraction of the price

Amazing food and kind service. Was super busy when we went at 9pm so had to wait a while for a table to free up but once we got seated the staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside was the atmosphere the music was quite loud for one in my party who’s deaf in one ear so struggled to hear conversation because of the loud music. Not great for chatting. But definitely will come back

No consideration for customer needs. I have always enjoyed Zen on previous visits however I was terribly disappointed when I dined with a couple of friends after work Fri 22nd Dec. The music was so loud I had to shout to have a conversation with my friends. We repeatedly requested to have the music turned down only to have to continue to endure it turned up full volume. Ruined the evening. Zen came out the winner ,£200. in the till while we left with tinnitus!!

We went to Zen tonight for a birthday dinner. We had expected great things. We arrived at 6:30pm absolutely starving and expecting to get a great meal of sushi. It took 45 minutes for a waiter to come over to us and ask us for drinks. We ordered a round of drinks and were then left another 20 minutes before we received them and were able to order food The food was great sushi is always fresh and well prepared. But having waited over 1 hour after arriving to receive the food had dampened the experience of it all. Being a birthday dinner we requested the birthday sparkler on a piece of cake as a nice surprise. It was mentioned to the staff by multiple members of our group for the cake to have a surprise sparkler on it. When it came to desert time a waitress came to the table with a slice of cheesecake with no sparkler, no candle and just dropped it in front of the wrong person then walked away. For one round of sushi we were in the restaurant for 2.5 hours with no shortage of memorable mistakes and it would make me very reluctant to return to Zen.

I went out with my friends and couldn't book beforehand, but still managed to get a table and was happy. The starters were sooo good. I wasn't expecting much, but it was absolutely delicious. The mains were also good, but the portions for the sides were a little too small, especially the ramen. Overall it was good, but personally for me, the drinks and the starters stood out! The service was also good :) Will defo go back !

We had a Christmas business lunch here and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had the duck with crispy pancakes followed by the honey peppered chicken. Both meals were delicious. The heated seats in the ladies always makes me smile. Recommend here highly.

Absolutely loved my time at Zen! The food cocktails and service were immaculate. I tried the Unagi Sushi, Satay chicken skewers and Tuna Shishimi. My friend had the Steak teriyaki with egg fried rice and wow it was the most tender steak I have ever tasted! Truly a great date night for partners or best friends! Cocktails were lovely to have while waiting to be seated all around £10. Will definitely be back again !

Like eating a takeaway in a nightclub. Booked a table for 9pm on Saturday evening, arrived on time but was told to wait at the bar until the table was ready and didn’t get seated for another half hour. Once seated, no menus or water until asked for 10 minutes later. Food was decent, as it was already 10pm before we were being served, it was too late for large meals so starters it was. Flavours and food in general was very enjoyable However the service and general vibe of the place was a let down. Music was INSANELY loud and played 1 minute of each song before it changed again, from techno music to Christmas songs. Just felt like we were sitting in the middle of a nightclub trying to eat. Wouldn’t recommend or come back.

Always clean with great service and atmospere. But the food is only soso. Expensive though. Don't order "Mad Crab" as it has zero crab in it. Just two cheap fake frozen crab claws made from reformed fish, which is misleading. Very limited vegetarian options

Is this a nightclub or a restaurant? The dance music was something you'd expect from a bar or club and was too loud for dining. This caused all the diners to speak incredibly loud, causing everyone to have to shout to each other to be heard. This was incredibly annoying for a quiet birthday meal. The tables were also packed in tight, so there were no intimate moments to be had. I ate at Zen in Nov 2018 for my birthday also, and the experience was completely different. It was quiet and calm. There was light music and a chilled atmosphere. I don't remember everything I ate then, but I did have the lobster. It was delicious! Meaty yet tender and juicy. I really enjoyed it and ate every last bit! However, this time, the lobster was mushy. I knew just looking at it that I wasn't going to enjoy it. The meat was so gooey that I was put off the rest of my meal. The taste was a bit sour. The stomach contents of the lobster had also spilled out, so there was a lovely black/green mess. I didn't eat any of it, and the staff members didn't ask why, so I didn't bring it up due to embarrassment. We paid (£135 including £12 service charge) and left. We had Set Meal B (roughly £40pp + £6pp for lobster & steak 3rd course), and the sushi first course was not as good as I have eaten in other, less expensive locations (try Obento café Belfast for quick, casual, tasty sushi). The sushi was more room temperature, as if the fish had been sitting out for a while. The second course of various spring rolls and prawn toast were nice but nothing special. The third course was the lobster & steak. I was so looking forward to this birthday feast, and the cocktails were the best part! I don't know if the restaurant has different owners now, but the experience was not to the same standard as before. I wouldn't return.

Hadn’t been to Zen for quite a while and wished I hadn’t bothered. From being served tough inedible food to having to deal with the most unpleasant manager when I complained. I definitely will not be back. Absolutely dreadful.

Great place for a birthday, had our table right away even with a booking before. Our waitress was absolutely amazing with our group and answered all our questions and had some great recommendations, food was absolutely amazing and plus baby Guinness makes everything better on a birthday! Overall one of the best dinners I’ve had out in ages! Thank you!

Food was amazing, Eddie the server was great too. Nice setting, massive place. £100 for 2, but we totally over ordered. £23 of yesterday was drink. Mandatory 10% service, which I hate but the food and server were worth it.

This restaurant feels very classy and has a fantastic atmosphere. It's very nicely decorated throughout and there is a real authentic feeling of being in and eating in an Eastern style restaurant. The service was excellent. The food was prepared to a good standard, but I must admit, I don't really enjoy seafood, which is most of the menu.

Went here with 5 friends on a Saturday night for dinner, the place was very busy but we got our table in no time, the restaurant itself it very contemporary, the drinks menu was pretty big too, as for the food menu what great choice, we had starters and mains only couldn’t fit a desert in to be honest, the food was out of this world so tasty and authentic too, and on the plus side the whole meal was really reasonably priced, the staff are all very professional and helpful thanks for a great experience

Booked table for 830... We're told to wait half hour until 9.. Queue up at the bar for 15 mins then have 15 mins to drink a cocktail. 30 mins later table is ready upstairs. Worst table in the place right squashed up against the bar. Refused to take the table told the staff give it to the next on the list and give me the next free table.. Nope. Couldn't do that told me I'd probably be waiting until 11. Not spending 120ish on a meal to be cramped up against a bar after waiting a half hour on a table that I'd pre booked. Staff were friendly

Wow! I got three recommendations from people to go here while in Belfast and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was fab - decor was very cool and the restaurant is able to accommodate both small and large parties. We booked dinner for 5.00 pm...

Another birthday celebration dinner here, over all this place is excellent. I simply love it. It's always busy, so book in advance . The food is fantastic, flavoursome and well presented. The staff are good but very busy. It's also a bit loud. Lots of people celebrating so be prepared for a bit of noise. But don't let that put you off. Go visit, you won't be disappointed.

Got called a "bitch" at the front door by one member of staff for no reason what so ever, totally unprofessional and I'm completely shocked to say the least !!

What a find! Excellent service, fabulous food which not only tastes delicious but is a feast for the eyes too. Great cocktails, beautiful interiors...and the japanese toilets are an experience not to be missed🤣. Definitely worth a visit.

Zen is one of the best resultants in Belfast. I have been here a few times and it never disappoints. A little on the expensive side, but excellent food, stunning decor, and fantastic staff. Would recommend.

I booked a dinner reservation for 5pm. We were seated and served quickly. I don't know the names of the staff but the male waiter had served us previously and he has a great way with customers. We ordered some oysters and instead of 3 which is the usual serving he gave us an extra one so it would be equal. The soy sauce is fabulous, it is superior to any others I have tasted and the sashimi platter was a work of art. it was expensive as we both had starters, sushi and dessert as well as 1 drink each but it was a great experience for my daughters 18th birthday. zen is her favourite restaurant of all.

The food was amazing but we did have to spend a fair while before we were seated. We had a reservation but spent about 20 mins at the bar before we were sat. I appreciate how the seating must be staggered to accommodate the kitchen bit it was a bit long for my liking. The food however was sublime. I ordered the mango and duck and it was fantastic. Very enjoyable and id easily come here again In future

My friend and I went here during a weekday for dinner and cocktails at 7pm. As usual the place was busy. We were seated upstairs. Starters and cocktails came were lovely. However when it came to the main course, it seemed like we were forgotten....

Superb food served and good service. Staff were attentive most of the time. We didn’t get offered a dessert which was a little disappointing as other tables had them. We were a large group.

Beautiful food first class service

An excellent Asian cuisine establishment. Good food and varied menu and wine list. Child friendly. Staff professional and friendly. A very clean well organised establishment with an oriental theme. Can cope with large parties , would advise booking as it is always quite busy.

We received a nice welcome on arrival. Prompt service. Tried a chunky cocktail called the chunky geisha which was rum based and delicious. Food was good but the honey chilli chicken wasn't as crispy as usual.

Amazing food and great atmosphere - always seems busy so book in advance. My only criticism is the wait before getting seated but other than that I could not recommend more.

Food: The food was amazing. I have the chili squid for starters and the Shenzhen fillet beef for mains with ramen noodles. The squid was very tasty and quite spicy. The fillet beef I mentioned was spicy, with a lovely dark black bean sauce with fresh coriander, chilies and veg. My family also loved their food. Location: it was well decorated with a very strong Asian theme that resonates well with me. The place was very well presented all in all. At the entrance, they had essence sticks burning which was a cool touch. Service: it was quite warm and friendly with fast service but the younger guy was quite forgetful. We had to remind him on 4 occasions that he forgot what he asked for, which is a bit embarrassing!! What really takes the cake is that this place is repugnant enough to put a £12 service charge on our bill at the end without it being stated on the menu or posted anywhere. I find this to be really disappointing and a dreadful way to screw their customers. This is so so so so dishonest. I felt it was not worth arguing over but instead deserved a massive hit on their review from myself. They really need to inform their customers before they order so they are not frustrated later. I am sure there are plenty of people that refuse to pay. decent service but be aware of the hidden rogue surcharge!!!!!

This restaurant is beautiful. The food is excellent quality and the lunch deal is a brill price. Also try the toilets you will know what I mean when u get there lol. Lovely place also.

Visited midweek with the family. Restaurant was recommended by a website. A wide selection of drinks at the bar my son had a mocktail and my wife had a cocktail.which they both enjoyed. A good range of food choices on the menu. When I opted for a choice from the menu that didn't say it had nuts the waiter checked to see and kitchen advised the sauce had nuts which was great. We did get one of our main courses delivered to the table whilst we were still having starters but it was returned with no issues. I ordered surf and turf which was a half lobster with steak and crab claw. It was very nice with the Udon noodles. Atmosphere was good with background music at a level where it could be heard but you could still have a conversation. Would recommend a visit if you are in Belfast.

Great experience!!! The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. The pickled ginger was some of the best I’ve had, very zingy. The soy sauce is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I wouldn’t personally recommend the orange duck, it’s covered in a very sweet orange sauce which overpowered the savoury duck. We didn’t finish this. I’ve seen Zen do good spring rolls, however when I had them they ended up in a puddle of their own oil. The salt and chilli chips are delicious, the sweet chilli sauce is unique (not the overly sweet bottle stuff), and the duck pancakes are amazing. I had a great smoothie, the customisation is great (you choose up to 3 ingredients from a fairly expansive list). There is an automatic 10% service charge applied to all tables. The staff are very nice and the service is phenomenal. They give you warm wet towels to clean your hands as you sit. The toilet was a bit mad to get to but was well sign posted. They were very clean, with Japanese electric bidets. Dishes I would recommend: * Tuna tartare * Fresh oysters * Duck samosas * Duck pancakes * Prawn toast * Chilli squid * Sushi platter * Honey peppered shredded chicken * Salt & chilli chips

I went on a Saturday evening with 2 friends and it cost over £120 for 2 of the smallest course I have ever seen and 3 beers in total. We left debating whether to get a pizza for the way home. What we actually got...

Fab location. Service by staff superb. The teriyaki with soba noodles ticked the boxes for savouriness and slurpability. The caramelized banana dessert topped off a tasty dinner. I'd like to go back to try their maki rolls.

Resto solo avec une ambiance vraiment top, surtout si vous êtes placé dans la petite partie à gauche au rez de chaussée. Service très sympathique, plats et vin excellents.
