Delicious king prawn starter, Calamari fritti as Always very good.

Excellent food, very poor service. Once you're sat down they're all over you to make sure you order drinks and starters/mains, but after that you're ignored. I had to go and find a server to request a dessert menu, only for someone to return ages later with the bill. The service was just very slow and the guy that comes around to take payment was plain rude. We used to go here a fair bit, but will find somewhere else in future. a 12.5 service charge for such indifferent and rude service isn't warranted.

Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and fabulous service! Made extra special by the attention paid to my birthday including a glass of fizz and singing happy birthday! Would highly recommend for a special occasion and will definitely be returning! Thank you Zaza Amersham!

Awful experience on Mother’s Day. Rushed out of the restaurant when the restaurant had overbooked to cash in on Mother’s Day. No information on the booking about a minimal time slot available. Will not be going back to this overpriced eatery again.

Friendly staff and amazing food! Brilliant ambience too, a lovely old building in Amersham’s picturesque old town. The restaurant is pristine. The food is always of an exceptional standard and we’ve tried everything from the pasta to the ribeye. My favourite local restaurant for sure

Came for a meal with family (16 of us) for my wife's 60th birthday. Were allocated one of the private dining rooms upstairs. Pre-ordered all menu choices in advance. Had numerous emails prior to dining where every query I had was answered swiftly and to my satisfaction. On the night the birthday girl was given a free glass of prosecco. The room was set up wonderfully for us. We were allocated our own waitress for the evening. I should have got her name but didn't. She was just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and every query dealt with immediately. Considering how much food was being served every dish was what had been ordered and delivered to the correct person. The food itself was of an exceptionally high standard. Special mention to the Branzino, Lamb Shank, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Crème Brulee. We were not rushed and each course was delivered when I felt we were ready as opposed to it being rushed out from the kitchen as quickly as possible. This is the first time I have organized such an evening and can honestly say that it was one of the best dining experiences ever. My wife truly enjoyed her birthday meal, Thank you to all the staff at Zaza who made this such a memorable evening.

Cute Italien restaurant with plenty of space around the tables. I went there with my son and we both enjoyed the food, slightly out of the ordinary which meant it was more interesting than the standard Italien fare

Very nice food served in a lovely atmosphere. The olive tree decorating the restaurant is a good conversation piece. We went on a Monday and had the set menu. Good choice of dishes and plenty of choice if you don't eat meat.

I had one of the specials which was a pumpkin ravioli dish in a delicious buttery sauce. Highly recommend. We were there for a birthday and they greeted the birthday girl with a glass of fizz! Portions were large! It was busy but we had a table in a corner so had privacy and quiet.

Fantastic experience! The food for everyone was first class!

My husband and I went for his birthday lunch on Monday . The restaurant was quite busy for a Monday, which was surprising but had a nice ambiance. We found the service friendly and attentive and the food arrived at pleasant intervals. It was well presented and hot! We both chose from the a la carte menu but there were so good options on the lunch special menu. Our dishes were well presented and delicious. A very pleasant birthday lunch experience

What a great find in Old Amersham - we were recommended it by a friend and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and ambiance really lovely for all occasions - group dinner, friends get together or intimate date night - they have really set the space out nicely to accommodate. Would highly recommend.

Monday evening and one of few restaurants open in town, so pretty busy. Lovely atmosphere, prompt polite service from arrival. Wide choice on the menu and wine list and good advice offered by waiting staff. Drinks, water and starters promptly served and very nice. Slightly longer wait on main course but once served enjoyed. Would recommend for sure.

Came here tonight for Italian set menu. Great value. The antipasto starter was fantastic and an enormous portion. Really enjoyed the whole meal. Staff also amazing. Only quibble I ordered the bucanti amatriciana but got trofie( and was over cooked) pasta instead. I didn't really mind the swap out although i wouldn't normally be served with this sauce. Normally a pesto etc. But as with a friend not seen In years I didn't mention. But after being a general manager of an Italian for 15 years would have loved to be told and pick my own instead and just swapped out. I wouldn't let it stop me going again as I thought overall was great.

Nice food and very accommodating of my gluten free diet. However, 45 minutes after we placed our order, there was no sign of our food. I asked the waitress and it turned out our ticket had been 'lost'. The waitress apologised and our food came promptly afterwards. Of course, I fully understand that mistakes happen - we are all human! However, I was surprised that we were not offered any compensation and that we were still expected to pay service charge. Furthermore, we had to chase for the bill and eventually ended up walking around the restaurant to find a member of staff to take the payment. The meal was lovely, but I really was not impressed by the service. I have heard of many friends who've had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant, so perhaps this is just a one off!

Very accommodating, delicious food, great staff

With lots of lovely restaurants in Amersham I don’t go here that often. The food is perhaps a little unimaginative, and the menu rarely refreshed, but what you get is excellent. I had calves liver, it was really well executed and the spinach and beans side was a nice change from what seems to be a glut of tenderstem broccoli inthe restaurant trade. Your chef is really good, but perhaps give them a bit more space. Well priced in comparison to the many expensive restaurants in Amersham.

4 stars due to the lack of vegan options, except one pasta dish and side dishes.I visited Zaza in Amersham for the second time and I love the place for many reasons. As a vegan, I prefer eating in places with more choices on the menu. My vegetarian family members ate very well here.

First time visiting this restaurant on my son’s invitation and recommendation! Was last minute so the only booking slot available was 5:45pm.. two of the 4 diners were stuck in traffic so arrived 40 mins late and although the staff let us know that they will need our table they were very gracious and gave the best service! The place was packed and I know why! Food was delicious, the atmosphere is so relaxed and the decor is beautiful! Everything about this place is 10/10.. I expected the bill to be much more! 2 cocktails, rum and coke, 2 soft drinks, 3 glasses of wine.. bread and olives, 4 starters and 4 mains of steak and fish, side dishes all for under £220 including service charge! I excellent value for money, quality food, you could taste the freshness! I will be frequenting this beautiful place again! My new favorite! Recommend to anyone!!

Lovely place. Great decor. Great service. I thought the food was very average though. It was the standard of a competent home cook, and not what id expect from an Italian restaurant at this price point. The ragu was uninspired and lacking in taste, and the pasta was a bit overcooked.

Cannot highly recommend this restaurant enough. Stayed in Amersham several times before and always visit this restaurant each time as the food and service is excellent. This visit was to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary which didn't disappoint. The restaurant is second to none and must be tried if you are in the area. Thanks to everyone at Zaza for a special evening.

We had their private room for 22 people. Great group menu with plenty of choice. Didn't rush us through. Would totally recommend but they don't have parking.

We've been there before and it's been absolutely fabulous. This time, it was for a birthday and we had 4 starters for the heck of it. All great. For mains, we had the seafood pasta - very good... ... but then there was the mushroom and chicken risotto...not great at all... It was probably the most bland, tasteless risotto I've ever tasted in life (and I'm really not exaggerating here) - if someone had told me they made it with tap water instead of stock and wine, I would have believed them 100%. The risotto itself had literally zero taste - I took a few scoops, mixed it with a bit of "sauce" at the bottom of plate - nothing. I then tried the chicken on its own to see if it had seasoning - nothing - it tasted as if it was steamed. Then tried the mushrooms on their own, as you would expect the flavour to have seeped in during the cooking process - nothing - like chewing old gum... I had my wife and kids try as well because I genuinely thought there was something wrong with my taste buds - nope - they agreed it was absolutely tasteless - like eating steamed rice. I poured tons of salt and pepper on it, and then asked the waitress for some garlic which I loaded on top just to get some taste out of it. It is a real shame because during the previous visits, the food was amazing. Even this time around, the starters and main seafood fish was great... Unfortunately the risotto completely spoiled it. I will add though that the service was great, atmosphere was great as usual. Parking was a bit of a hassle but given its location, its expected. Can't fault them for that. I will go again to give it another try, but I doubt I'll have the risotto again...

Love coming here to meet my best friend for dinner. Some of our favourites are garlic bread with cheese and seafood linguini, which I ate again last night! Staff are always attentive and welcoming. We love the decoratibe tree in the Zaza restaurants; it makes it feel as though we are eating outside. If your looking for pizza; don't come here to eat, as they aren't on the menu. Toilets are upstairs (disabled toilet is downstairs).and always clean. With hand wash and hand cream. No hand towels, just a dryer.

The food was good, we had the whitebait and calamari for starters. But we had to wait over an hour between the starters and main. The service for other tables was much quicker otherwise I wouldn't complain. If the waiters has noticed and appologised, then it would have been fine but we had to ask where the mains were. And when they came the food was good but not a single apology at any point. (I wasn't expecting money off or any discounts as I know how hectic the environment could be especially on Saturday service) As someone who's family is in the hospitality business, I don't think this is good enough - especially when you are paying good money for a dining experience. I'm sure it isn't a regular thing but on this occasion I think it could have been better.

Amazing authentic Italian restaurant will definitely be coming back

We had a fabulous evening celebrating some very good news. Our dear sister has just finished yet another round of chemotherapy. The food was so delicious, service was just perfect. She enjoyed every minute of the evening. She smiled all night. Thank you ZaZa

Had a good birthday meal here as a party of 8 with a baby. We were seated upstairs which I don't think is a good atmosphere. The food is nice and lots of choices. Service great

Went here on sunday for lunch and it was fab. the staff are so attentive and friendly and the food is amazing. although the restaurant was busy it didn’t feel loud or overwhelming and the food still came at a good speed. highly recommend

Poor service and the food was average. On Tuesday's they have a special menu which was never offered to us or were never told about until I discovered a poster in the toilets, after we'd ordered the food. When we raised it there was just an apology! Some of the starters & main were ok. When booking we were asked if it was a special occasion which I said it was my anniversary, wasn't sure why I was asked if they did nothing for it! We had 3 waiters from the person who took our order to a 2 others who served our food. The male waiter who took our order had no attention to detail, needs to learn better etiquette when table waiting. Overall, it was ok! I wouldn't return for a meal, maybe for a drinks only!

8 friends meeting for a catch up. The young gentleman serving us was so polite and respectful. Sadly, I didn't get his name. We did speak to the manager to say how good he was. Service was good food was good. Really nice decoration with Zaza's speciality trees. Would recommend. Will definitely return

Every time we go for food here, they manage to surprise us with best food. Can't recommend one starter because all amazing. The one we like are calamari fritti. Crunchy and very tasty. Main course variety is surprising. Definitely recommend the pasta and the best thing the garlic prawns. One thing can fault at the prawns dish, not enough bread to enjoy the sos. We asked for extra bred because it was such a shame to waste that amazing sos. Well done Zaza. We will recommend and definitely will be coming back everytime we get a chance. Keep up with the good food.

Lovely setting. We were able to sit outside as it was a nice evening. Food fantastic, service a little slow. I ordered a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (a bottle as the did not do it by glass) and there was no was that was a true wine. The colour was darker, like straw and did not taste like the wine I know very well. Even though I said on the label, I’m not convinced it was true.

Relaxed setting in old Amersham close to shops and beautiful memorial garden (in case you need to walk off your meal ) Food is consistently good and served correctly. Staff are attentive, and décor beautiful. Easy access to parking nearby .

The lamb shank was undercooked half returned on plate to kitchen. The veal escalope was inappropriately served with lettuce and excessive thick spaghetti.

Excellent patio, the flowers smell amazing. Unfortunately the food is very bland. Bruschetta was rock hard, calamari like rubber, spaghetti carbonara was tasteless, meatballs were not exciting at all It doesn't taste bad, just not what you expect from an Italian restaurant. It tasted like Tesco microwave meals. Lovely waiters and great atmosphere though:-))

Family group of 9. Booked Saturday for 6.45. Service incredibly slow despite a relatively quite early service. By the time we left it was busy but it took an hour to get starters, another hour later for mains. What made this worse was both starter and maid had half the table served 5-10mins before the rest. At no point did anyone explain the delays or apologise. A shame as the food was good. It seemed the kitchen was just unable to co-ordinate the orders. But a simple apology/recognition would have been very welcome.

First of all great tasty food and reasonable prices. However 90 minutes before main course arrival and for both starter and main course good five minutes between food arrival for half our group and the rest. Ironically their confirmations remind you they want the table back after 2 hours, if so they need to avoid taking 75%of that time delivering food!On a nice summer evening with their terrace open adding a dozen more tables to their capacity it is clear the kitchen just cannot cope. Spoiled an otherwise nice meal. Waiters were fine and regularly apologetic. Would come back in the winter on quiet evening but stay clear in good weather!

A wide selection on the menu that covers everyone’s taste, including a very fussy daughter on previous occasions. Loved by the young & not so young 😉. Good quality food, which is fantastic value for money, with a wonderful setting & great staff. One of our favourites!

Only drawback for this restaurant is the lack of parking on site. Not very suitable for anyone who has issues walking distances. (Not me, but member of my party.)

Good food that came out quickly. Wide variety of options on the menu so there'll be something for everyone, plus cocktails of a very reasonable volume. Service was wonderful as was the atmosphere and interior design. Great stuff all round.

The steak was the worst steak I have had before. Asked for well done got medium with blood , asked them to change it , they took it back and re done the same steak .which they should of made a fresh one . We all won't be going back there again . Best steak House around this area is lomito .Gerrards Cross. Many thanks

Not really an authentic Italian restaurant, but still ok. Despite the "fake" italian food, service is very good and decor is very nice. Food is actually very decent if you steer clear of cream carbonara, pasta with meatballs, chicken pasta and all that nonsense

I came here the night before my wedding and they were very accommodating for 15 of us. Two of the guests had allergies and they were provided with allergy menus which had loads of options. Service was really good & everyone complemented the lovely food. Will definitely visit again

Had a lovely meal here that was made special by our waiter Martynas. Some of the staff here in recent years have been a little unfriendly but Martynas made every effort to keep us updated on the progress of our food, sort things out when (as can happen) things went wrong in the kitchen, and generally interacted with us as a family rather than just faceless customers. It was particularly good that he made the effort to interact with our disabled son as many people talk around him rather than to him.

Review on VEGAN OPTIONS at Zaza, Amersham: This restaurant is very beautiful! There is a fake olive tree that looks so realistic. There are also beautiful paintings of birds hung on the walls. This is our personal experience here as vegans. (Note: We have come once before many years ago, when they served pizzas. It was really good then). When we arrived, they led us to a table and gave us the non-vegan menus. We then asked for a vegan menu which they promptly gave us. The menu didn't look like the other non-vegan menus. It was simply a white piece of paper with black font: nothing special. Not very well presented for a fine dining experience and premium prices. Plus, the options were very limited. Although had they tasted good, perhaps this review would be very different. (I'm not sure if they gave us the vegan menu at this point, or at a later time. I am still horrified and I am struggling to recall the order of events). We chose olives as starters. They were very sour, but weren't the worst we ever had. Next we had bruschetta and rustic bread. The bruschetta bread was soaked with oil and seasoning, bitter rocket lettuce, and the tomatoes were bitter due to the fact that they were salad tomatoes. As for the rustic bread, it wasn't the nicest. (In comparison—that morning, we had had breakfast at Griffins and they served us lovely bread with our delicious cooked breakfast). These starters need improving... For our main meal, we all had pasta dishes. The vegan menu had very limited options. We chose different pasta types and asked for extra vegetables. When they served the meal, I couldn't believe what I saw. My spaghetti looked like it was plopped into the bowl (I wouldn't be surprised if it was...). There were also small spillings of sauce around the pasta in the white bowl. When I tasted the dish, it was bland. They once again used salad tomatoes and probably tomato passata. There were also green peas as vegetables! Another family member received the smallest pieces of courgette, that could barely be seen. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Had I and my family remained home, I could have cooked the same exact dish and it would have been delicious, and certainly wouldn't have used basic green peas! (I have no offence towards green peas. Usually green peas are used for breakfasts, and certainly should not be used for fine dining and premium prices). When it comes to service from the manager and waiters/waitresses, it was not bad. There was a heaviness from the staff that I could feel. There was only two of them that were friendly. I believe it was the manager, who after our starters gave us new forks and knives and he put it directly onto the table!! No new napkins. We had to ask for them. The atmosphere from the people made it even harder to enjoy this experience which should have been a delight, especially since it was for a family member's birthday. I love this family member and I feel so disppointed in Zaza for making it a horrible meal for all of us. In conclusion, Zaza at the moment does not provide food suitable for people, never mind VEGANs. They could learn from Pizza Express who have so digently added vegan options. Sadly, I don't have any photos to share what I saw, because at the time I was so disgusted. I'm grateful for the experience, but I certainly wouldn't invite any other vegans here, or friends. I certainly don't want to come again. Please become better and don't mess up people's special occasions. People pay premium to come and visit you. They expect what your brand message is and the quality spoken of on the Zaza website. Please care more. I really hope changes can be made. There is still hope for you to change your ways and treat people with respect. Please improve for you, your name, your staff, and the way people are trusting you to make the most lovely meals for their different occasions. From a costumer who is very disappointed and feels hurt because the dinner was for a dear family member.

Great food and great service. The menu is pretty expansive so at first I was a bit apprehensive as to whether everything is made fresh, however how wrong I was, as everything is made fresh daily. The pasta dishes are so flavourful and you can tell it’s fresh. Highly recommend the lamb ragu pappardelle! Will be back again
