Zara Zara in Swindon

Having experienced the Thursday night "all you can eat" offer before, I was very disappointed this time. Time is limited to 1.5 hours which I accept. But not when it takes 1 hour for main courses to be served, leaving no time for desserts. Staff seemed to think that topping up the drinks was a solution, it wasn't. I don't recommend going if the restaurant is moderately busy.

We were in Highworth on a Sunday recently and decided to head off for a curry. This one stood out as it had a 2 for 1 offer on main meals on Sundays between 5 and 7.30. I had my usual Naga Chicken and my wife had Jaipur Chicken. We shared a mushroom rice and a starter of onion bhaji which we have as a side dish. Everything was excellent, full of flavour, and generous portion sizes. The bhajis were particularly good. It was quite busy but service was fast and friendly. The drinks were well priced and both Cobra and Kingfisher were available on tap. Owing to the offer, we had an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. I would be happy to return

Staying in Shrivenham for a few days and decided to try out a nice curry house. There are plenty in the area but this one stood out. I’m very glad we decided on this one. Arrived fairly early after they opened and I believe we were the first ones in. Ordered two popadoms and four came out, and we weren’t charged for the extra two. The chutney tray was just excellent. My friend ordered the naga curry and I had chicken tikka bhuna. Both dishes were outstanding. I can’t really cope with much spice but my friend really enjoyed her naga. My bhuna was by far the best bhuna I have ever had. And the chicken was marinated perfectly. Also had garlic and cheese naan which was delicious and I liked how they stuffed the cheese inside instead of just sprinkling a load on top. The staff were also incredibly friendly. The lovely man who I assume is the owner even said that next time we come he will do something different/special for us. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend!!

We ate here last week with friends..the restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. The food once again was amazing. Really hot and tasty. We had starters of chicken tikka, onion bajhi. Followed by delicious goan curry, balti mushroom rice and hot fluffy naan bread. We have been in a few times since the summer and it never fails to deliver excellent food and service..

This is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price. I would eat here again if I am in the area.

Ordered 2 curries, naan, rice and the mixed kebab, all of which were absolutely lovely. This is by far the best curry house locally and I will definitely be ordering again, the set meal for one is fantastic and can (In my opinion) certainly feed 2 people, which is under £10 per person. All in all, I highly recommend.

Friendly staff, quick service and really nice prepared food with a great taste. Good portion sizes and the price is reasonable too.

We had a table for 6 of us last night for the Thursday night offer, choice of wine or lager and a lovely meal for £22 P/P. There was a great selection of starters, mains, bread rice etc. The food came out piping hot and the flavours were amazing. We will be back soon. So lucky to have this on our doorstep.

We have tried many local takeaways and been disappointed, however Spice Kitchen are great, authentic tasty dishes arrive hot and on time. The are situated in Highworth, and do deliver to the St. Andrews Ridge area. The website is easy to order from, and emails keep you informed of progress. Given we rarely have takeaway and have ordered from Spice Kitchen twice in one week, proves the quality of the food, delicious.

We have a regular takeaway from Spices and it is always good. The delivery arrives at exactly the time we asked for and even the naan bread is hot and delicious. We had 4 different sauces and they were all delicious and different.

Very disappointed. I expected it to be busy as it was New Years Eve in lockdown but this was beyond a joke. Phoned at 18:07 and you said it would be 2h 10 max for a delivery or 1h 45 for collecting, so we decided to wait for the delivery. Phoned again to find out where the delivery is a 20:56 only to be told you are waiting for the next driver to be available and it will be another 25 minutes. Then chased you up 40 minutes later at 21:36 and you still say it’s going to be another 24 minutes as you are waiting for a driver? Sorry. Not good enough. We cancelled our order! So our freshly cooked food would have been cooked and waiting for us to get it for over an hour. I hate to think what happens to those that ordered after us as I am sure you must have kept taking orders? First time we have had an issue but has put us off so will be quite a while before we even think of ordering again.

Placed an order at 18:00 and still not delivered at 21:33. Appreciate it’s a busy night but I’d have respected them more if they’d have refused the order. 3.5hrs and 2 phone calls and still no meal. Not impressed and won’t be ordering again

Good food but waited nearly 2 hours between ordering online and home delivery. For four meals on a Tuesday evening you wouldn’t expect a nearly 2 hour wait.

Bad service had to wait over hr 15 minutes for our food and drink are very expensive definitely not recommended by me not going back

Have eaten here many times and had plenty of takeaways. A brilliant and varied menu with the usual dishes plus plenty of specials and additional tasty dishes. Excellent service and the food is constantly delicious. Best Indian locally, highly recommend.

Superb food, excellent quality, prompt service and very polite delivery driver. They are very near to rafus in Highworth but far superior in my opinion. Loved it. Chicken biryani superb. Well done.

Really excellent takeaway during the lockdown. Super quality, very tasty and spiced to perfection. The Tarka Dhal is the best you will find anywhere. Well done to the Spice Kitchen team.... it is genuinely appreciated that a top quality Indian restaurant is nearby.

We visited on a Monday evening and it was very quiet. the food was excellent and was an ideal spot to meet up with a couple of friends. The staff were attentive and polite and because we ordered before 7;:30 we goy 2 for 1 on mains which was a bonus. All 4 of us enjoyed our meal and said we would return so that says it all.

Having been eating here for years. The best Indian restaurant around by far. Wonderful flavours, not greasy like other local Indian restaurants. Excellent choice, excellent service. Our whole family love the food.

Not sure what's happened. Didnt recognise any of the staff so maybe its changed hands again. Strange service !! No knowledge of menu. Food was very poor. Chicken tough as old boots. I had the garlic chilli chicken. Couldn't taste either main ingredients. Mentioned it to waiter and he shrugged it off. We have had a couple of takeaways which were disappointing recently. So I'm afraid you have lost my custom. Such a shame.

We went here for a date night and found it to be a poor experience. We had the all you can eat and drink menu. The food was ok but the service lacked. The wine offered was horrible and we felt rushed. There was no atmosphere at all. Would not recommend

Delicious food. The outside looks a bit grubby but don’t be put off. The decor inside is very stylish and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are some unique dishes on the menu so ask if you need an explanation. The food arrived very quickly and was hot and fresh. The portions are generous and everything we had was delicious. We couldn’t finish our food so they offered to pack it up for us and we enjoyed the rest at home the following day. Wish we lived closer and could go more often.

Regularly visit on a Thursday for their amazing “all you can eat and drink” buffet but even on a normal day both the food and the service is exceptional. There are food choices from the whole of India. You won’t be disappointed.

Great menu with oodles of choice for the curry connoisseur! Very efficient service and nice welcome. Our food arrived piping hot and it was exceptionally tasty and not too oily. Great nan breads - would definitely return and recommend.

Amazing food, good service and lovely atmosphere. Nice portions that don't make you feel like you want to explode! Would definitely recommend and visit again. I have been to other Indians in the area and aren't a fraction as nice as this one.

I enjoy a curry and wasn't disappointed at spice kitchen. The food was good and the service was ok. Ten thirty pm on a Saturday and we were the only table there, so a little lacking in atmosphere but I'm sure it is not always that quiet. Only disappointment was no mints or sweets with the bill. I think £10.90 for a Tandori garlic chill chicken a bit expensive. You can better cheaper curries not that far away.

Six of us visited the Spice Kitchen last night and took advantage of the all you can eat and drink Thursday night special. We all enjoyed our meal and thought the food and service was excellent. This is my third visit to the Spice Kitchen and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family

Sadly this used to be quite a good curry house - not anymore. The carpets are filthy and a nasty smell of damp permeates the air. The rest of the furniture is tired as was the food. Popadoms and Nans were fine but the rest was frankly truly awful. Won’t be going back.

Over the years we’ve tried many an Indian on our travels. Until last night we struggled to find any that challenged our local establishment

The decor was a bit grubby and I found the waiter to be too over familiar for my liking. But I'm basing my review purely on the food, which was good. The Bombay Potatos were the best I'd tasted in a while and my Nagar curry was good. It was advertised on the menu as being "Extremely Hot". It wasn't, but it was tasty nonetheless. The main and side portions were large, although I felt that the rice portion could have been bigger. Not quite 5 star!

The food here is incredible. I've never tasted such a creamy chicken korma! Service is quick and the prices are reasonable. I am a very loyal customer to the Spice Kitchen - I've never been disappointed.

Read all the good reviews and thought give it a go. I had a lamb Sally which was quite bland with loads of soggy potatoe chunks. My partner had chicken Korma which was also very disappointing. Both were small portions. Mushroom rice not much flavour. Pashwari nan with no raisins just almond paste. £5 more than my usual curry house, smaller portions and a lot less flavour. Gave it a go, but never again.

Very pleasant surroundings, varied and interesting menu - almost too much to choose from if you like something different. Service was excellent, food was well presented and delicious, ordered 'off' menu and chef nailed it. Better than you average curry house and the best I have experienced in years. £££ was reasonable, top value all round. Recommended.

We buy from spice kitchen regularly (probably for the last 3+ years, at least once a month) and can say that we are always impressed with the quality of food and friendly staff.

This is actually all you can eat and drink but we aren't there for the binge, just the package of good food with either wine or beer.

I really enjoy getting food from Spice Kitchen. Their curries are absolutely delicious. Very talented chef.

I've eaten a fair few curries and the food here is exceptional. The flavours are more complex and interesting than most curry houses I've visited. The naans are beautifully cooked, good portions of nice meat, tasty sides (try the tarka dal). They also do a nice pint of Kingfisher.

My partner and I have been to the spice kitchen a number of time and can honestly say we love it.

Five of us had dinner here last night. The first thing I noticed was the large selection of dishes on the menu and it took a while to make our selections. When the food arrived, the helpings were very generous and I was full up before I could finish mine. The waiters were attentive without being over the top and all of us enjoyed our meal.

I have lived in Highworth for over 50 years .. since the old fishes pub has become a restaurant I have tried it a couple of times and was not impressed.. since it has become the Spice Kitchen I thought I would give it a go .. we had a lovely meal very tasty food well presented, clean decor And would recommend just give it s try ..

What can i say. The food here does all the talking it just gets better and better each time i come. Very friendly polite staff. Highly recommended from myself and family. Give it a go if you havnt tried it already. You will surely be pleasantly surprised.

It was early in the week when we visted so it was quite quiet. We had eaten there before but under a different name and always was pleased with the food. The was our first visit as the spice kitchen and was not dissapointed. I had the best biryani ever. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great food and friendly staff, eaten here 5 times now and will definitely be back on the new year. I think a new menu has just been introduced. The choice is huge but they can adjust dishes if you fancy more or less spice!

We had a takeaway delivered, it being a cold wet night.We have now eaten their food three times and cannot fault it. Well, as long as you stay away from the raita, which has not been their success. It has varied from being quite watery to quite lumpy, so we'll give it a miss in future. Everything else is absolutely terrific.Normally a staid eater of curries, eating basically the same thing time after time,I have started to try different dishes each time, and am surprised to find that I like them!What is surprising is that different dishes taste different, unlike previous experiences elsewhere.Worth a visit!

We were a party of ten, celebrating our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. All of us ate a different curry from the extensive menu & not one of us could fault anything about the food. We will definately eat here again !!

Met up with friends here after reading other reviews. The decor was modern and smart, and the food was very tasty and at reasonable prices. The bread basket mix was very good value for money. Unlike most Indian restaurants in the Witney area, the staff struck a nice balance between being attentive but not being to pushy and clearing your table before you've all finished eating, which made a refreshing change. My Naga chicken was supposed to be extra hot but was a madras at best, but still tasted nice. We will definately come back again, but during the winter the heating could do with being on a little higher as the two pregnant ladies were freezing.

Excellent meal on a Thursday night - one of the best Indian meals I have had. Good service and a great deal on Thursdays with an all you can eat and drink. Exceptional all round.

The best Indian in the surrounding area from Swindon to Lechlade and beyond. You will not find a better Indian cooked with pride and enthusiasm. The tastes of the dishes are authentic and full of flavour. It also helps that you get a service with a smile too. I have booked my work Xmas party here. Look forward to visiting again.

Wow the food here was scrumptious, well presented, ho tplates and you can choose the heat in the curry sauce (Mixed Biryani).Loads of dishes to choose from you will be spoilt for choice.The service was attentive and helpful.I'll be suprised if you are disappointed.

It was my first time to this restaurant, but went with friends who had been there before. The décor was new and a bit loud, but that was fine.There was a good choice on the menu and all 4 ,meals were very good. The chef is good and know how to use the right amount of spices, which puts it above your average Indian restaurant.My only complaint was the service, my starter was swept away from me when I had barley finished. The food was served without the waiter saying what is was and asking who's meal it was as it could have been put in a different position on the table.A quick training session on how to interact with customers would pay dividends.

I recall this place being called the Tamarind and my experience then was average at best. It was with some trepidation that we tried this place again, morphed into the Spice Kitchen. We were glad we did. Decor is very contemporary but welcoming all the same. We were seated quickly and pappadums and beer soon appeared. All four of us had different curries and without exception, they were all good and all very different. Service could have been a little quicker but they told us that whilst they had 3 bookings for the evening, all tables were full! A good sign. We live a little ways away but were happy we made the trip. Well done Spice Kitchen!

Visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago for the first time and really enjoyed the food and had great service. We went fairly early on a Friday night and booked a table - the restaurant soon filled up but the service was still good.Great choice of dishes and naan bread was some of the best we had ever hadWill be going back soon!!

It's a great menu with a great variety of food. I'm slowly working my way through the menu and as yet haven't had a bad meal. The staff are really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I've eaten in the restaurant when we have been the only table and also when it has been full and the quality of the food is always the same, just excellent. I've taken many friends here and everyone has loved it. Can't recommend it enough.

We live in Lechlade so our Indian normally comes from Kushi. Today we thought we'd try Spice Kitchen as we'd had a menu through the door. I am so glad we did, has to be one of the best Indian takeaways I've ever had! Food was piping hot and full of flavour. The only disappointment is they don't deliver to Lechlade!

We have eaten here several times recently and have never been disappointed. The service has always been prompt, even when the restaurant is busy. The food is always delicious and the food and drink are reasonably priced. It really does "tick all the boxes".

This restaurant was re-branded/relaunched a few months ago. As we are local, we'd received a flyer advertising the Sunday buffet @ £9.90, so decided to give it a try.A tip - book ahead, not because it's busy but because the food is freshly cooked unlike some buffets where the food is sat in serving dishes for hours.The starters were chicken pakora, onion bhajis and veggie samosas. All were freshly cooked and tasted great. The selection of mains included a mild chicken tikka, a medium chicken dish and my personal favourite, an exquisite lamb lemon sag. Sides included rice, Bombay potato, and a spicy vegetable curry. All the food was excellent and very tasty, well spiced without being stupidly hot, and not at all greasy.Service was very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant manager couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and valued.Drinks were not overpriced, and the food was excellent value. All in all, a lovely relaxed and very enjoyable lunch. Highly recommended.

Thought that we would try this new restaurant in our local town last night - well NEVER again. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but despite our having booked we had to wait to be seated, although there were ample table free and set ready which could have accommodated our party of five. When we were finally seated, we had to wait 20 mins for someone to come back and offer us drinks and pompadoms ....these took ages to be served too. Finally ordered meals but after waiting two hours and still no sign of it arriving, despite assurances from the staff that it would just be a few more minutes - we decided to pay the bill so far and leave - it was not after ten and are table had been booked for eight!What made us leave was that people were coming into the restaurant after us were seated and served and were eating their meals and we, also take away orders were constantly being collected, or sent out for delivery.Managed to get a table at our usual restaurant - who were horrified to hear what had happened to usCan't comment on the food here because we never had a chance to try it,

I visited here on 3rd June this year with my Mum, auntie and her daughter. The restaurant is wonderfully decorated and the staff are friendly, approachable and very attentive. The food was really nice, hot and as I expected.I will be coming here again.

We come here every anniversary. Lovely & romantic atmosphere & gorgeous food. Plenty of room so don't feel hemmed in like you do at Rafus. Very modern. Family loved it too. Well worth visiting!

Been here a few weeks ago after visiting the Highworth Rec with friends. I regularly dine in Indian Restaurants as it is my favourite cuisine so have a wide variety of experience with the dishes. Food was great with excellent flavours and service was great too. The Restaurant is going through some changes so look forward to the new menu and new dining experience.

The Spice Kitchen is very smart by curry house standards and deserves to do very well. It tends to be very quiet during the week but looks like it's starting to get busy during the week. The service is always warm, inviting, prompt and efficient. Over a number of visits I've tried a good selection of dishes and all have been excellent - the King Prawn Tawelli starter in particular is exceptional. By some margin the best curry house in Highworth.

Went to Zara Zara on New Year's Eve. Service was atrocious staff were rude and patronising and food didn't even make up for the extremely poor service. I will not be returning!

Service was awful, food couldn't make up for it really however it wasn't the worst curry I've had. Very patronising staff, not accommodating In the slightest. Never again.

It's been a while since we visited Zara Zara, so a great excuse for a post Christmas meal with some friends. The restaurant was very quiet, the service was friendly and not pushy at all, and the food was excellent. I has the lamb pasanda, which was incredibly tasty, and the naan breads were fluffy, light and tasted great. A lovely meal, good value - highly recommended.

This was our 4th visit to this restaurant and once again we were impressed with....well everything! The service is good but not intrusive, good range of drinks and cocktails- if that's your thing! Menu extensive with some new options - which is always good if you are a curry addict! Decor and atmosphere is relaxing....but not buzzing as there are not enough people going here and we don't understand why! So we don't want it so full WE can't get a table but with the food being so good ...from the poppadoms - to coffee, more people should be trying this one out!Can recommend the Chicken Korai, chicken Roshney, vegetable ceylon, special rice and peshwari nan! But have a chat with the waiters as they are happy to give you advice and tweek the menu to suit your taste! Hope to see you there soon.....

Had a meal here with my family of 5. Food was lovely with a proper authentic taste. Lovely ambience and vibe on a saturday night. Also had a takeaway from here with the same consistency as dining in with deals to suit all budgets.

Highly recommend this place! Can't rate Zara Zara highly enough. It is a local favourite of ours. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the curries are the best we have had - very fresh and flavoursome. This is easy to find and to park close by, even though it is on the main road.The tables are well spaced, and the general standard is very good.Service is efficient and friendly.Wide selection on the menu, with good sized portions, and tasty food.will definitely return...probably on a Thursday when they have all you can eat night, and so should you.

Been to the restaurant it was great just had a takeaway what a difference it was cold had to put it in the oven and we only live 3mins from Zara Zara

This Indian restaurant has been fully refurbished to a very high standard. The food is authentic and well presented.A large selection on the menu, something for every one.The staff are always very happy, and look after everyone well. There is a bar for pre dinner drinks. The overall cost is very reasonable.

In my opinion this place beats Rafu's by a mile (sorry Rafu). ! It is spacious inside iwith plenty of space between tables so you wont be crammed in like a sardine in a tin and you can have privacy (if you want). The seats are very comfy too!!The restaurant looks nicer and nicer each time I visit and the food is consistently fantastic (I have no idea HOW this restaurant is ranked no.8... probably because it's new!)The food always looks great... I love how you dish up your dishes with such elegance and perfection... it is lovey place to really enjoy a meal in... I took my family there ad they really loved it !!!One of your male (English) Staff waiters appears to be very shy and perhaps a little nervous, but I put that down to perhaps age, or maybe it's his first job... he is always pleasant and very friendly though. I have literally eaten in every Curry place in Swindon/Highworth and this is my no.1... I would highly recommend to anyone who likes to enjoy a great curry (without being rushed out the door like some other places).Great for both romance and family gatherings... comfy seats and a great atmosphere.. This is a very modern and clean restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful.Four of us visited tuesday evening so it was quiet and the service was good. Some of the dishes were new to us and not available in Manchester. I had the Zara Zara Goan Chilli Special a hot dish but full of flavour. All of our party enjoyed the food and if in the area again we shall certainly be back.

Why not spend an evening in a crap curry house for a hour and a half waiting fir a main course?? Then come to this place .

I was recently visited with my friends at Zara Zara pan Asian restaurant its for me an unforgettable night really really great food friendly staff and great service very welcoming staff and I enjoyed that night with my friends will be back again So when ever if you want a great food and great service and great atmosphere please visit one of the top restaurant I would say in Swindon in highworth try there really you will love it ....

My first curry restaurant experience with my two boys (11+ 9yrs) and im so glad we have found this place on TA (well done again !) , it was Valentines Saturday night the restaurant, it was busy but judging by amount of take-aways being picked up some people had decided to stay in aswell , (always a good sign) .The children had Chicken Tikka massala (which is always a good bench mark) it was superb a deep red colour , mildy spiced but wow the flavour , the chicken pieces were large beautifully cooked white meat, they ate the lot ,I had a Zara Zara special as i like a bit more spice , fantastic , and my partner had King Prawn Dhansak again beautifully spiced , cooked to perfection , Service was spot on very well done to the staff ,i have eaten a lot of curries in my time and this is up there with the best

Absolutely gorgeous little place. Great Service. Great atmosphere. Great food... I think they should consider opening up one in Swindon instead of Highworth though :)
