I’m not sure what they pump into this food but it surely can’t be good.. after about 2/3 small dishes.. you’re finished! It’s all you can eat but you won’t be able to eat any more! I believe this chain has closed now anyway and the owner is running the Peatmore branch instead.. which seems to be the same setup.. Gotta make their money back somehow! 😅💸

Was horrible, Will never go again. Me and a friend went to get food from this Chinese. When eating they had a very small selection. And when eating the lemon chicken discovered it was awfully pink and chewy, we complained and staff were horribly rude, we refused to pay and they called there manager, They threatened to call the police on us after we refused to pay for raw chicken so we sat down and waited for the poke to arrive. When we went out to the front entrance the chef/manager with a covid mask on his chin, got all in my friends face saying this is how they cook the chicken and took it off us and ripped it with his teeth right in our faces. Manager shoved my friend when we went to the entrance of the restaurant ( not even trying to leave) and then locked us inside the restaurant by locking the exit with their keys which is false imprisonment, we are only 16 so couldn’t do much. After getting in our faces and screaming at us I called my stepdad who came storming in because we were locked in and were sweating because of how hot it was inside and felt like we’re gonna pass out. Step dad finally got us out after about 45 minutes of being locked inside. Never had anything quite like it

Just had takeaway and found hair in the chow mien. Called and spoke to the manager, offered to send out more food, but no refund. When I told her that’s not acceptable, call ended.

Whenever I and my wife visit Swindon, this lovely eatery is on top of our list of places to be visited. We had lunch buffet on Saturday 15 February after driving almost non-stop from Southampton, a distance of almost 70 miles. The food is tasty and nutritious. The staff is friendly and approachable. Reasonably priced buffet. There is free parking for a few customers in the backyard if you drive in via the car park side near Wyvern Theatre. Comfortable seating. Clean toilets. Good bar. We have eaten here several times and we are never disappointed. We will keep visiting this awesome place.

This place changed to worsen, I'm surprised it still standing. Upon arrival at the door, a4 paper tape it to the door saying *Pay before you eat*. with is fair enough, as you approach the staff they take you straight away to the bar so you pay for your meal, they take out the unlimited pop drinks with you need to spend more money. £2.80 for a pint of coca-cola that didn't even taste like the genuine one, more like water down and the cheap ones you get from supermarkets for less than 50p, ridiculous. So the table for 2, they took us to the busiest and loudest corner, even when we politely ask if we can be seated in a quieter table. Staff looked at us funny and said no. With we founded very rude. As soon you sit down at the table you've been observed like crazy! whenever you go the staffs and manager has eyes on you. On the walls, there is a notice poorly made written by hand and once again a4 paper saying * you can eat from 12 noon till 5.30 pm if you stay longer you be charged! - very passive writing. This place has zero maintenances, you can see dust everywhere especially of the curtains I don't think they ever been washed. Mould at the ceiling and the walls you can spot from miles, not to mention poor chairs and tables. Cutlery is not presentable I had to wipe in the napkin before using it. Food buffet variety is nothing special and the desserts are horrible, cheap icecreams, most of the desserts are from supermarkets, they left in the trays for god knows how long. (You never know you might eat out of date food). Plates are chipped, some of them wet. Bowls bearly any. I and my partner agreed that the food was over salted and had too much pepper inside. It's a cheap Chinese if you can call that, use to be alright but now it's just a no, we won't be back here again. Prices for the buffet are somehow ok for lunch but then you need to spend more on drinks with the bill could be expensive. Lunch Monday- Thursday £7.5 Adult / £4.5 Child, Buffet at the evenings seems overpriced: Monday- Thursday Dinner (5:30pm-10pm) £8.5 Adult / £5 Child Friday - Saturday: Lunch (12noon - 5:30pm) £8 Adult / £5 Child Dinner (5:30pm-10pm) £9.5 Adult / £5 Child Sunday All Day and Bank Holidays (except good Friday): 12noon - 10pm, £8.5 Adult, £5 Child What we noticed many people left leftovers, including myself as I had undercooked potatoes. The way this business is going soon or later they will charge you for leaving leftovers! As we were leaving the restaurant all staffs including manger had eyes on us, felt like they not trusting us. It's terrible to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. After the food, we both had stomach pains and my partner felt sick, we unsure what could have been caused by it but we know for sure we go elsewhere and pay a little bit extra to have a proper Chinese rather than this that makes you sick.

First Visit and only Visit today! Would never ever return! Upon arriving we were escorted to the bar to 7pay and told you have to pay in advance now (did they once take payment afterwards?) We normally visit another buffet but thought we would try this one out,what a mistake! They say you get what you pay for I didn't even get that :( I though it would be Cheap and Cheerful? Wasn't Cheerful felt uncomfortable there both because most of the seating there's is knackered and the staff just don't make you feel welcome :( Food is Bland and practically everything has Peas in it! No fun when you have a Pea Allergy :( Though I get that is not there fault the few things I did have were bland and i swear some things had been reheated again and again? Chicken as hard as bullets rock hard salt and pepper potato slices because I swear they were cut so thin you could see through them! I checked the menu on line it bears no real resemblance to the pitiful menu that's there when you arrive! Had they allowed me to view what id be eating before i paid i would of walked back out! Likewise if the bill was at the end I think I would of questioned it or walked out with eating anything once I had seen the food stations. Avoid at you peril it may be cheap but its still too expensive for what you get! If you want a far better experience pay a few quid extra and go somewhere who value their customers!

Shared a family meal here tonight. Food n sauces had skin over them, chicken skewers dry n crusted, noodles soggy n bland, meat in the pork dishes tasted stale n was very tuff nothing was upto temperature, we then went up for dessert to shockingly see Mold starting to form on the orange skins 🤮🤢 needless to say we won’t be returning. The worst I have ever experienced.

Have been about 6 times. Each time I’ve been disappointed. I go at lunch times when shopping with a friend, each time the food has been barely warm, and very bland-but I guess that’s what you get for £7odd, id rather pay that than go to Mc Donald’s. I’ve heard people rave about the place. Maybe evenings are better 🤷‍♀️

Whether it's the pay-on-arrival policy, the unhelpful and impolite staff, the cold, bland food or the visible damp on all of the walls, there's something here for everybody to hate. The sooner this place goes under, the better. After all, the likelihood that whatever replaces it is worse is close to none.

We visited Swindon for the first this this weekend for a couple of nights and plumped to visit The Banquet Buffet Restaurant after looking up several restaurants with good reviews. We had a lovely evening with friendly helpful staff and the food on the buffet was delicious, with so much choice for each course, not to mention the amazing value for money at £9.50 on a Friday evening. We ate fairly late but they still cooked fresh dishes if they had run out for us , which was a nice touch. We loved it so much we booked again and ate there on our second night , with exactly the same great experience...can’t wait to return to Swindon...delicious!!!

Went for a meal early Sunday evening. Notice on door says you now pay before you eat. Not a problem. But was escorted to the payment point. There was no draught beer available, so had coke, that was a bit flat. The food was below standard, and not very hot. The floor staff were watching us like hawks. This made us feel uncomfortable, so finished and went.

Used to really like it in the Banquet but went last week and it was really disappointing. It's now pay before you eat which I don't like. all of the beers on tap were "too bubbly" so I had a cider which tasted like old potatoes. Food was still ok and there were lots of sweets but considering that Tiffins has now closed you would think that the Banquet would be making more effort not less.

We visited before going to the theatre and to be honest we had low expectations, however the food was good with plenty of choice and the price is definitely cheap for what you get.

All you can eat buffet of Chinese food and interestingly chips... but it is England and they love their chips. Deserts also so you can really enjoy yourself. Just a little warning, you can leave there feeling very full.

Used to go a lot before the show or during the weekend shopping seem recently the food quality has been dropped a lot. But I have to admit it's a place that you feed the hungry belly but not enjoy the Banquet.

after meeting up with a couple of mates , the decision made no cooking decided to give the Banquet a try after a bit of a disappointment previously well! definitely not disappointed this time Well done good food

We’ve visited here on a number of occasions and tonight was the worst by far, only 2 small sections open so everyone had to sit on top of each other although only approx 20 ppl in restaurant, food was almost empty when we arrived, soup has been moved next to sauces etc and looked like sick had been sloped in a tin, when we went up for a second lot of food yes it had been filled but the taste was so bad I ended up spitting the so called duck into a napkin, the puddings.... well frozen cheese cake (even when I told them it was frozen they left it there), eton mess minus the meringue so warm whipped cream with about a tbs of mixed fruit thrown on top, and some dried up sponge cake.... all in all £25 thrown down the drain and praying hard we don’t become poorly from it, even the women on the bar agreed standards dropped and it’s not nice anymore, people around us was also leaving large amounts of food, sort this out of lose custom for good

Top food, really fresh and great value. Staff exceptionally friendly, wide range of choice, on the night we visited they had an alternative menu as there was a visiting party of 100 people. Would recommend for fast cheap eat in Swindon

So, I used to visit here loads, but I haven’t been for about a year! Wow! It’s really changed , and not for the better! The quality has dropped significantly! From watery sauces to egg fried rice that hasn’t been fried! Everything (including the staff) is really lacklustre! Seriously disappointed!

Visited on a Saturday night. £9.50pp. Bargain! Small clean place. Small buffet. Not a massive range of food. For that price, the food was warm & tasty. Car park near by in town.

This place has been going for a few years now and never fails to serve up some tasty dishes and with the added bonus of it being a never ending serve yourself buffet for a great price. Good range of dishes and tastes, fresh food and normally quick seating and service. They also do a good takeaway.

A year or so ago, we gave this restaurant a bad review, and vowed never to come back. Well, we were in Swindon on Saturday, and decided to give it one more try. Well, I must give credit where credit is due. It has much improved from our last visit, they probably realised that they had to buck their service up, or the restaurant would have to close altogether. The food was good, many choices, especially the sweets. Staff attentive, keeping an eye on the food all the time, and wiping down. The only bad thing I would say is that the food could be hotter, although the soup, chicken and sweetcorn, was very hot and enjoyable.I had two bowls of that! On the whole, the restaurant seems to have improved a lot, and at £8 pp,(on Saturdays), I would consider very good value for money. Would probably visit again when we are in Swindon.

Dismal decor - an all you can eat venue but sorry there are much nicer places to eat. Plates were whipped off the table before I had swallowed my food. You get what you pay for & personally I wont be back.

Went inside looking for Asian food and specially because outside its advertised sushi. Then inside, few choices, overprice drinks and no sushi. Not that day, apparently they don't do any more but they haven't change the ad outside. The staff are nice and 2-3 dishes are good.

Food looked like it had been prepared few days ago. Paying £8.50 per person I thought it was way too expensive. Although it says there are number of choices, trust me, there are only very few and those are sooo similar to one another. If you want to be disappointed as I am , go ahead and visit the place. Also this place was sooo not clean!!!

I used to visit this place 2-3 per week...however they have taken all the decent starters away. No salt and garlic squid...No salt and garlic Chicken...No smoked shredded Chicken...no salt and garlic ribs. When I asked, they said they change their menu. However it has just gone downhill. The starters are terrible now...cocktail sausages...hash browns (god only knows why these are in a ‘Chinese’ buffet)...loads of very plain dishes...the starters are pretty much all English food. If the management are reading this...please put Chinese starters on the buffet...if I wanted an all you can eat breakfast...i’d Go to the Kembrey Inn! Please get the decent food back on the menu? I keep visiting in the hope they actually put the Asian food back on the starter buffet. If it doesn’t change...I won’t keep going back. From a very frustrated customer.

My first visit and I won't be returning. The restaurant itself felt tired and shabby. Food was dreadful looked like it had been hanging around for some time. Rice was hard. Service was ok bit nothing special.

Been here before and found it to be alright. This time though half the trays were empty, and the rest looked like they'd been sat there for a long time. The food itself tasted alright at the time. Boyfriend has been OK however I had prawns and have been ill all weekend. Make of that what you will.

Been here numerous times. The last time was bad as there was something in my pint but gave it the benefit of the doubt today, mistake! Was as quiet as I've ever seen it. Food wasn't replenished for that reason I'm sure. Poor choice which was stirred every few mins by the same employee to stop it drying out I presume. It's never been gourmet but it's poor now. The staff are disinterested apart from having banter with each other in a foreign language. The seats are hard and worn out. When I paid my bill at the bar it was presented immediately so had been waiting a while. The woman who handed it over said nothing during the exchange although I was polite. Really poor service. Staff have changed and it shows. An average eatery is now way below average. Won't be hurrying back and I think they'll close soon to be honest.

Terrible service today, members of staff who appeared to be management walked away mid sentence, refused to come to our table, two young female waiting staff were helpful and polite but the rest were appalling. Last visit there for our family!!

Went with my wife for my b’day I’ve never been to a all u can eat before so didn’t know what to expect the only negative would be the drinks selection but the food was amazing beautiful cooked the waiting staff would take your plate so u can get a fresh one when u went up again and the price is so low for the quality of the food I will defiantly be returning with friends

Very good value for money and the food is decent too with lots of variety to choose from, We always get takeaway as the interior is a bit gloomy, outdated and depressing so We never sit down aside from that, the food is a winner, staff are friendly as well.

We go here very often and think it's good value for money. The only thing is that sometimes some items in the buffet get a bit cold. Otherwise I recommend it :)

Having been here before with my son & parents, I wanted to see what my husband thought.

Very good Chinese buffet and reasonably priced at £8.00 each. This is the Friday and Saturday price. Rest of the time it's £7.00 each. Lots of choice for starters such as spring rolls, prawn toast, soup etc. Good choice of mains too including pork and beef dishes. If you're still hungry there's a lot of desserts to choose from. Staff are friendly and the service is good. Would go back.

First time in here for a birthday, last time I'm afraid.

After reading the last few trip-advisor reviews we were in 2 minds wether to go but we did give it a go and were glad we did.

We are regular visitors to The Banquet, and went this evening to celebrate our eldest son's 15th birthday. The service was excellent and friendly as always, and the food really good. Highly recommend for a reasonably priced fun meal.

I took my family to this restaurant expecting variety of dishes and what we got was terrible. For the money you there is nothing to choose from. What ever was there was old or greasy.

We visited as a party of six in a Wednesday evening, so the restaurant was fairly quiet. We were seated in a booth - which seemed impractical as everyone had to move in order for those at the end to get out.

Over the years I have made plenty of visits using this place at lunchtime when shopping during the week. Some food is bland and some is very dry. The egg fried rice tastes nothing like any other chinese I have eaten. It does not have that nice chinese taste from it, and noodles are similiar. The curry and satay sauces have no flavor and again tastes nothing like I have had before. I eat chinese regularly in other places and some dishes here are so bland and dry its unreal. You feel like the staff watch you while you eat. The sweetcorn soup is nice and the desserts are okay as is the salad area. It is limited for variety and flavor for vegi's and the tofu tastes like chewy rubber. It could be so much better. The price is good for the buffet, the food just needs to be greatly improved if they want to survive in todays market.

I've been to some bad restaurants in my time but this was by far, the worst experience ever! Food was bland and that's being kind. Most of the chicken dishes were extremely dry and at no time was any of the food refreshed in the whole time we were there. But perhaps that may have something to do with the restaurant being practically empty - a clue that we sadly overlooked when we chose to eat here. Prices advertised on their A-board outside and on their wall is also just a ploy to lure you in. You actually get charged more at the end and it's at that time they explain that the price they have advertised outside is only valid on certain days. The only banquet here is the food bill and not the actual food!!

Have visited this place many times in the past and I have always enjoyed it...however....I can truly say that today's visit was appalling.

Overall this has been the worst restaurant I have ever set foot in. My friend was intimidated and pressured into buying a drink when she was not eating. The service was lazy and with little care or attention. As soon as we got our food, the manager rushed over and told us that we couldn't eat until we paid after the waiter had told us otherwise. They continued to give us dirty looks throughout the evening. The food has also made myself and one of my friends feel bloated and unwell. We don't ask for much but the service we received was totally horrific and I would never set foot in this hideous, disgusting excuse for a restaurant again as long as I live.

Terrible slop - just picked an already near consumed bone out of my noodles and want to be sick. So gross. Pigs slop is better presented than this swill!

Really would not use this place again my 21 year old son his 9 month pregnant girlfriend and my 15 year old son came in for lunch today are we're told they had to pay before they eat my son ask about them other people who came didn't pay first they said just you they pay after and to top it off my son has not stopped being sick since 5 o clock this evening so really bad service and food

Well you get what you pay for.... Not expecting 1st, 2nd or 3rd class but the standard is pretty low... Seating arrangements pretty poor and the seating area really hot and sticky a bit too uncomfortable... The food is bland and just standard... Would I come here again only if I had too but not by choice....

Do not be put off by the fact that this buffet restaurant is cheap, the food is very good.

Called in early sat eve, seated by a pleasant waitress, although got no direction to what was on offer, esp as first time there, so we went to have a look round, two hot counters of various Chinese food, was your average buffet, could have been warmer, but was tasty, and a nice variety. Plenty of cakes and puddings if you enjoy sweets etc. Wine was average price, and I do wonder why they put price up on a Friday & sat evening.

There's a lot of choice for starters mains and dessert.All the staff are friendly The manager oversees service is adhered to. The choices of food are wide and large. The cost is ridiculously cheap for what you can eat.

Straight in.. Seated.. Decor was tidy.. For me the choice we had was far superior than just a menu..loads of choice.. I was very happy with my two plates of food.. If you want simple honest Chinese food I recommend to eat here.. Don't expect The Ritz.. It was busy.. A pint of lager was £3.20... Enjoy....

Just to let anyone know if your going as a family with young children BEWARE we have two children and to our surprise when we turned up and were asked how many of us where eating, we told them two ADULTS and Two CHILDREN Now they have two prices one price for Adults and One for Children.

The restaurant is located close to center of town. The welcome you receive is 1st class. Sometimes you have to wait for someone to seat you but it's expected. The price is wonderful.

This place is ideal for any celebration or family meal.

Great selection of lovely food, excellent value, friendly staff and a smart interior. Good relaxing atmosphere. Now that we've discovered this place it will be somewhere that we will visit regularly. Very, very good all round!

This all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant is fantastic as there's a wide range of rice dishes, noodles, sushi, chicken, dessert, salads, and even sides such as sesame toast and chips! The fixed price for a eat-in buffet is ~£6.95 per head and a takeaway I believe is ~£5.50 per head but the prices may have changed since then. The restaurant is very welcoming with lots of tablets and it even includes a bar! Whether you're dining on a budget, want a lunch, or you're just hungry; this is a fantastic place to go!

Never again ... this restaurant is nothing like its sister restaurant in Peatmoor. There is damp on the ceilings & walls & the place wants gutting. Food mediocore but we were put off by the decor & the atmosphere.

We visited as we were looking for somewhere quick and easy for dinner. Although fairly busy there were plenty of staff around and service was prompt and friendly. A reasonable selection of food which was fairly tasty and hot. Drinks were reasonably priced. Overall a pleasant experience. Whilst I doubt it will ever win any awards, The Banquet is OK, particularly if you are dining on a budget (less than £8 per head for all you can eat). We are likely to visit again.

My first choice for Chinese Food, you help yourself, enormous king prawns, delicious pork, Hong Kong style. Various rice dishes, noodles etc. Strongly recommend this venue for either eating in or take away. Brilliant value for money. I defy anyone to disagree.

In Swindon and hungry and didn't really know what we wanted and we decided to have a walk around after shopping to see this place. The biggest attraction here is the price. At under £7 for a lunch time all you can eat you really cannot go wrong.

I visited in a group of about 35 people, marking Swindon Trade Council's 125th anniversary. Their first meeting was in this venue, although it was a pub called the Rifleman's Arms back then. There still is a carving of the old name high up outside, although it's probably covered by a banner now. It was a good meeting, the buffet was all-you-can-eat style (£8 per person plus drinks), but it looked more like all-you-can-try: There was a lot of variety. The plates were kept hot, they had napkins to hold them, all very good for hygiene. Dispensing trays all had their own serving spoon. There were two main islands for selecting items, as well as a sidebar for desert items, which allowed plenty of people speedy individual access. I suppose the labels indicating what each dish was could have been larger/clearer and closer to the food, but that's a minor issue. There was also a staffed bar, for alcoholic drinks and herbal tea. The staff were very considerate and unobtrusive. We only saw them on entry/exit, at the staffed bar, and when they discreetly removed finished plates & glasses. It's quite a large size inside, divided into part-divided areas of seating, and although there were many other diners present, we had one of the divided areas to ourselves, which looked like it could seat at least 50. The toilets were very clean, with taps that sensed your hands under them, and did not switch on/off at inconvenient times, like most other proximity taps that I have experienced. The toilet were roomy, although only had one cubical and three urinals. The cubical was up to hotel standards, with proper inset solid walls and a solid door with quality lock. For a restaurant, I would have expected there to be more than one cubical, not that this presented a problem during my particular visit. The toilet could have been better signposted; I had to ask for help finding them.

If we are talking value for money here then it wins hands down. If my memory serves me right £7.50 a head eat all you can for an evening menu midweek!

We eat here regularly , good variety of starters , main courses and desserts . Staff always checking buffet area is clean , tidy and well stocked.

A large choice of mains, sides plus 2 soups , desserts and fruit at a ridiculous cheap price. the staff were attentive and always busy cleaning, clearing or serving drinks. The buffet is self service and you can return as many times as you like. the standard of food was good so well done everyone who works here.

Enjoyed many visits to this Chinese buffet restaurant . The staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much for them . The food is good value for money and plenty of choices

I ordered a takeaway through just eat website, and was given an hour & 15 mins waiting time (which we expected as it was New Years Eve), after waiting 2 hours we still hadn't received it so I phoned to find out where it was and was told they couldn't guarantee a delivery time, so I cancelled the order. An hour after cancelling they came to the door with our order!! I was very disappointed with them as we have been in there to eat a few times and have enjoyed it.

We went here after an exhausting day and stomach craving for food as one of my friends (who was with us) had been here and recommended it and I would say it all true value for money.

My girlfriend and I went for a meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and made sure that we were well taken care of during our meal and after we had finished. We had cocktails which tasted lovely, as did the food. Very enjoyable.

I can't claim to be an expert in high quality Asian food, and neither can this place claim to serve high quality Asian food - but compared to some places in Swindon this place is actually pretty damn good, and the food hugely exceeds the expectations you may have from the very very low price!

We've visited the Banquet Buffet a few times, and will be going back again some time. For the price, we have no complaints. The food was good, the place was clean, the staff seemed conscientious.

After shopping in the town centre, we went in here. It was a nice spread and the food is hot and good. The interiors have the Chinese lamps and hangings to recreate China town look.

This restaurant is open during the early evening so you can pop in before the theatre or after shopping etc. Quite good food, good variety and very reasonable. Staff are friendly and we go every now and then when we are in Swindon.

Ok so first off, this place to eat isn't the cleanest or the tastiest. The place had food all over the floor under the tables where the customer service members had not cleaned before the previous occupants left.

When in Swindon town centre I can not think of a better place to visit for lunch or an evening meal.The food is hot delicious and you have a great choice.

The place is well located in Swindon City Centre, the buffet is excellent. Very good variety and they all taste great.

Really nice selection of dishes including the desserts. Pleasant service and very reasonably priced.

We needed a quick meal before going to an evening performance at the Wyvern Theatre which is next door. The food was attractively served and the area around the food was kept clean. There was an excellent range of dishes which were hot and tasty.

When entering you know it's not going to be the best in town. The set up is very cheap and tacky.

As a vegetarian there is always plenty to choose from. Staff attentive and good level of hygiene throughout.

Me and my partner came here for Sunday lunch after seeing it on trip advisor, despite some bad reviews we thought we would try it, massive mistake! Yes it's cheap but that doesn't mean they can under cook chicken to save on costs! Further to this the food is tasteless and the place is a dive picture says it all.

Why do people buy cheap and then expect the ritz? £7.90 will hardly get you a flame grilled whopper so for the same price in a town centre the Banquet was more than adequate. As much as you can eat, all dishes full and hot on a busy Saturday night yet the throughput of customers meant no one had to wait too long for a table. The staff were very attentive and drinks were replenished promptly when asked. The seats we were given (bench style) were fixed and a tad short in the seat but that was the only item of note in an otherwise enjoyable meal. FOR THE PRICE !! well worth a visit

Without a doubt the worst oriental food ever. Food warm at best, dried out under hot lamps and not refreshed and utterly tasteless. Staff useless and place generally filthy. They couldn't pay us to return! Should be shut down.

Close to the worst buffet yet, food warm or cold, some of the food did taste, most did not, the best bit was the Eton mess, will I return well not sure there!
