This was my first experience of this type of cuisine, and it was lovely. Injeras are fantastic- I had no idea these things existed. Very tasty, beautifully cooked and satisfying. Staff were so friendly and helpful. I can't recommend enough!

Enjoyed a very relaxed late lunch, vegetarian combo , followed by coffee ceremony. Food was tasty and healthy, coffee had a lovely spicy flavour. The owner was friendly and very keen that we enjoyed our meal. Felt like a little journey to Africa on a dull Sunday afternoon!

A wonderful family-run restaurant that serves delicious Ethiopian and Eritrean food. I went here with my friend Julian and we had an amazing feast. Thank you, Thomas, and we'll be back again soon!

My boyfriend and I visited Zara after our neighbours recommended it. What a gem! Incredible Ethiopian flavours, lovely owners and a relaxed atmosphere. We shared a meat and veggie platter for two which we both loved. My boyfriend and I will definitely be visiting again - thank you Thomas and his wife for such a great experience!

We came here with friends for Saturday lunch. It was quiet when we arrived but very soon began to fill up. After taking advice, we had the combination dish with spicy beef for four It was delicious! The beef was great, there were several lentil dishes which were very tasty, along with some cabbage. The injera were great to eat with. I am gluten free and this was easily accommodated (I did let them know beforehand). Friendly and really delicious. Go!

My mum, who was born in Ethiopia, made me promise to bring her back to this restaurant next time she's in Bristol, so I think you can't really get a better recommendation than that! I dropped in to collect a takeaway order and received great advice on the menu, plus a delicious spiced tea while I was waiting for the order to be put together. We had one vegetarian and one meat beyaynetu - both were very tasty and generous portions. No photos because it disappeared too fast!

Authentic dishes eaten traditionally, friendly staff. We tried a vegetarian dish and a meat dish and both were good. The tea was a nice masala.

First time experiencing Ethiopian food and I must say it was so delicious! We tried the sharing platter for two which had a combination of meat and vegetarian dishes, and every dish was unique and packed full of flavours! Unfortunately we were too excited by the food that we tucked in as soon as it arrived so we don't have any pictures to share but that speaks to how very much we enjoyed the food! They even taught us the right way to eat it! Felt like a superbly authentic experience

Not often you come across food from the Horn of Africa in down-town Bristol, so this is a refreshing new experience for me. A few of us bought a selection of wat and injera to try this lunchtime and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Injera is an unusual thick flat sough dough bread with a spongey texture. If you're not familiar with this bread it will seem unusual at first - but to eat it with mouthfuls of moist and spicey wat, it all makes sense. Each freshly made wat (spiced stews) was slightly different in style and flavour and the combination was filling, tasty and wholesome. I enjoyed this taster session a lot and will definitely be going back again to try some more. I wish them lots of luck.
