The food was absolutely delicious! The flavors are authentic, truly capturing the essence of Kerala cuisine. From the rich spices to the perfectly cooked dishes, everything was spot on.

Biryani is cool 🔥 If the quantity of cloves in biryani is reduced a little it will be better.... 😅

They serve the best Malabari Chicken biriyani in the town.

We have now eaten here a number of times and each time we have found the food amazing and authentic. We love the limited menu, and specials of the day ~ following them on social media to know what is coming and when!! Having been to India a number of times, this is the best curry/biriyani I have tasted without getting on a plane!! The venue is small, and it gets busy. So take away is always an option! Tastes just as good!!! Such a good price too!

Not budget friendly anymore We bought a CB and 6 porotta with beef curry and the whole families stomach we're upset (severe stomach pain after eating the meal,Not sure if the meat products are fresh)

Fantastic food, regularly pop in for a beef curry (£8) enough for 2 when i buy one for takeaway .if.meium eaters and the rice is.also quote big. Proper Indian food, owner.is a nice bloke too. Often gives me.nibbles when I stop.for a couple of cobras. Rabbit curry is exquisite,when it's on the menu (fairly hot)

They offer authentic Kerala food at a reasonable price. Even the price is much lower as compared to some other similar restaurants. It has an ambient atmosphere and enough space to dine in. Also offers toddy and other drinks as well. You might find it a bit difficult to reach there using public transport as it is quite far away from Bristol city centre. If you have your own vehicle it won't be much of an issue. Great place to dine with family and friends.

Middling at best. Ordered takeaway, food was already cold just after 10 minutes drive home. Beef cutlets (pricey @ £2.50 each)were shapeless hard lumps that tasted of nothing in particular, an overpowering smell of pineapple essence from Thalaserry biryani, the chicken pieces in it tasted rather sweet. The raita was very watery. The one thing that was (slightly) passable was the kappa biryani. Not going back again for sure.

Must visit for South indian Food(Non vegetarian). Best kerala/ south indian restaurant in Bristol and Gloucester.

I was too sick today and at the same time craving an authentic biriyani which i was unable to find it in bristol. And this is the first time I found something and very happy genuinely after a long time! I took a home delivery and ordered the chicken biriyani. I was so amazed after having that and this is what I wanted tonight! Full of flavor and Its totally worth it!

We ordered 17 biryani for our small birthday celebration and they provided us 20 which they kept extra just incase if we run out of food, which was really appreciated as they didn’t charge for it and they even arranged halal chicken upon our special request and everyone liked the food it was amazing , Highly recommended 👌👌👌

Hi, I have been in this restaurant yesterday and the way whole staff received and the hospitality is really awesome and coming to the food it was really amazing, I have ordered ghee rice the flavour of that rice is perfect and chicken was fresh, juicy and perfectly balanced spices.. AMAZING. Truly authentic food from Kerala. Small menu, therefore you know it is good. Great prices too, paid £32 for four courses with beer for two people. The food was incredible, so flavorful and spicy and wonderful. Nearly every customer in there was of Indian descent too and they spoke Malayalam. Unfortunately not super vegetarian friendly. Can only recommend, would love to go again. 10/10

AVOID. Nothing like the pictures and totally unwelcoming. Me and two of my friends went in to try the place out, immediately upon entry the atmosphere was totally off, everyone just silently stared at us as if we shouldn’t be in there. The menu on the wall had very little information on it, i didn’t know that my curry didn’t come with rice (not a big deal but i didn’t know whether to expect some) Food arrived and it was cold, by the seems of it, it had been standing for hours and cooling which iirc violates food safety. I asked for a warm one, they put it in the microwave… It then tasted like someone had microwaved some curry… The price was too high for the portion we got and the service was shocking, I’ve never felt less welcome eating somewhere in my life. Despite being a deli, it didn’t seem like this place was supposed to be serving food(?) it felt like by ordering from their menu we were getting in the way of their day(?) It’s odd but those were the vibes we got.

We had a takeaway. Really friendly people. Enjoyed a beer and a couple of street style snacks while we waited, which were really tasty. Ordered the chicken biriani and beef biriani and a couple of porrotahs, a traditional keralan bread. Ample for the two of us and really well priced. Absolutely delicious. Really different to any normal indian food. Lots of cardamon and curry leaves and a good strong chilli hit and other spices I couldn't identify. A small menu and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes they do. As far as eating there it's very much a cafe. Clean,neat and very welcoming. No frills or anything fancy. Just great food and lovely people.

The food was very authentic, we had beef curry with porotta and chicken biryani. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place had a cosy atmosphere, I would definitely go again.

They serve good biriyanis. I had chicken biriyani and beef biriyani from Zanky's. They were really flavourful and tasted kind of similar to what we get in Kerala. Their beef curry is also good.

Just had Kerala beef curry & Parotta. The food was delicious and absolutely amazing. Can't wait to try other dishes. 5 stars for the food.

Even if not 10/10. Can rate 7/10 Limited items but good quality and quantity. Thalassery biriyani craving satisfied. Comparitively promising flavour. Had beef and banana fritters (would have been amazing if bananas were more ripen) Nice kerala style parota and beef roast. Beef biryani could have been better. Fried Chicken biriyaani was nice. Sitting space is limited but great for takeaway.

Excellent! Had a ThalasseryBiryani and it tasted just awesome . You can taste the different flavours exactly as we get in Thalassery , rice cooked to perfection and the chicken succulent enough, do try once..

If you are looking for typical Indian food (kormas, Tikka masala etc - north Indian food) you would see difference in the menue as all the dishes are according to a usual Kerala menue which is different.

Original tastes of kerala food…

Always used to get a lovely coffee from here but called in today to find out it was now an Indian restaurant, and not an Italian deli. They still do coffee but clearly have no idea how to make coffee. I asked for a skinny vanilla latte. They only had semi skimmed milk which was fine but failed to put the vanilla in to what I can only describe as a milky coffee like I’d make at home heated in the microwave! No frothy milk and it was very bitter. Total waste of what is a professional barista machine. Will not be going back

You'll need to adjust your expectations if you're thinking of the usual Indian restaurant experience. It's more of an Indian cafe, with a limited range of tasty Indian food. We had the chicken biryani and a beef curry. Both were very flavoursome, cardamom pods in the rice a good sign of nicely spiced food. If you want to try something different for a quick and tasty Indian meal, I'd certainly recommend Zanky's under their present management.

This place got recently taken over by a new owner who has introduced authentic food from Kerala on top of selling the usual Italian. And I went to try the Kerala cuisine. We had the Thalassery Chicken Biriyani, Beef Curry and Parotta (made live and fresh in front of you). Loved everything. Absolutely delicious and completely different from the you usual curry house food. Extremely good value for money as well. We also tried Tiramisu which was quite nice. They always have limited stock of the Malayali food and sell out quick.

This used to be a lovely Italian deli with great coffee, pizza, olives, deli counter items. It has changed hands this year and has gone very downhill. The coffee is not made very well, my latte was more like an Americano with milk and is quite expensive. They still sell pizza and pasta etc, I've not had it since the deli changed hands, but they also now sell a variety of Indian meals, which I haven't tried. I bought a bacon sandwich there a few weeks ago, it was not very good.

Came for Italian food, was offered an "indian menu". Briyani made with jasmine rice. Small portion but for £7 its ok i guess.

A great spot to eat out. I highly recommend this place. Fabulous food, awesome atmosphere, excellent service. The restaurant also serve kerala South Indian cuisines as well. Which is a highlight in Bristol. It’s like an indo Italian restaurant. Will visit again.

There was hardly anyone in Zanky's Deli when we went in and I'm not surprised ! It took 5 minutes to get any service and when we did get service it took 20 minutes for our coffee to arrive and the coffee was average. I don't think I'll be going back.

Worst customer experience that I had in the recent months, never back. From original Zanky’s only the name remains nothing else. No wonder why when I arrived there no other customer around. Coffee a nightmare!!!!

Unfortunately not the Zankys from a few years ago. This place has been taken over and now pretends to be zankys. They should probably change the name.

Had the best food in filton road. The freshly brewed hot chocolate, the scrumptious sandwich and picturesque arancini meets the best delightful sensory experience. Used to be so good with deli ingredients and lots of fresh food options like arancini and topped focaccias etc. I'm not sure if management has changed but I went in today and had to double check i hadn't walked into the wrong place. Very limited options at the counter, from I bought a mortadela focaccia. The meat and bread were dry on the edges; clearly from yesterday. Now it feels more like a fairly typical cafe but with a few Italian options thrown in, it's such a shame as this place was a real gem before

Decidedly average now. I’ve visited here 4-5 times since I’ve moved back to Bristol. My first visit was amazing, which is why I’ve kept going back. Unfortunately feels like something has changed- new management? I don’t know. Unfortunately there is a poor selection. The past two times I have visited they haven’t had any Pancetta focaccia- only one type from their menu of five options available. I ended up with a pepperoni pizza slice, which wasn’t indifferent from the one they sell at Greggs. It just doesn’t ‘feel’ like a lovely deli any more. Trays of the same dry cannoli next to the same pre-wrapped muffins I used to buy from my school canteen as a teenager. A real shame as this was a nice choice in the area.

I should have read the latest reviews but just spent £40 but the food is really average. The size of the lasagna is tiny, the arancini was dry(proper Italian is juicy) and the pizza wasn’t fresh. Just a future advice you only do what you know and passionate about otherwise never gonna work.

I visited alone with a baby, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful assisting me to the bathroom to lower the changing table. The food is delicious and a wide selection of drinks. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

I had given 5 star before. But, this place is no more under same owner I believe. Coffee was absolutely bad, crossiant was not fresh and crunchy like previous chef's. Dire and costly stuff, wouldn't recommend anymore

Went in today to buy some cannolis to take to a friends. OMG they have become soooooo expensive - £2.13 each for a small cannoli. Cheaper in John Lewis cafe. Never again, extortionately priced.

So I got here today in a rush ordered bacon and sausage sandwhich simple as that .. so waited for it to made came in a lovely box so half hour down road parked up to eat it to find it was sausage with ham?? And he added cheese without asking which I have allergy to cheese totally gutted nice shop but ruined my order
