Disappointed. Food was disgusting. Gloopy mess. Never again. So disappointed. I really recommended them years ago. Get a good chef please cos what's coming out is completely unacceptable.

Really gone down hill, fish curry was disgusting so was the dhal, service was very poor and the price is extortionate for what it is, over £200 for 2 adults and children with one bottle of wine

Came here for a birthday dinner and was able to book a couple of hours before going - the restaurant was very quiet when we got there so we could have easily just walked in for a table. We ordered a range of starters and some dessert. The gulab jamun dessert was good but I would have liked to have been asked whether I wanted additional cream on top of the oreo milkshake. The food was ok. The aloo papri chaat was good but some of the food tasted a bit stale- like the crispy bhajias which were not crispy. Don't think I would choose to come here again.

Zanzibar has the best Indian food in Edgware. The veggie and vegan options are great, especially the manchuria veg and the bombay aloo. The naan is also delicious.

One of the best lounge serving good food and cocktails in Northwest London. They have Shisha place at rear, it was busy on Friday night need to book well in advance. But overall drinks and food. Dj on Friday it was bonus for us.

I went with my family this afternoon for a drink and snacks. It is with sadness that I have seen this old haunt continue to deteriorate. The food was poor. The service was crap. And the prices are simply ridiculous for what is being offered. Perhaps the time has come for this grand old place to finally close and admit it is not up to it when it comes to the food. Such a shame as my family have spent many a wonderful evening in this once great restaurant. Does anyone from the restaurant read these reviews at all? Or perhaps they just dont care.

This is a good place to get your curry fix but I’m not so sure after a closer inspection in the hygiene department .. there’s a saying.. look at the loos and they will be a reflection on the kitchen.. now to be fair I’ve never had a sore tum after eating here in the past but unless they clean up their act, it’s quite possible that I could!! The toilets are grubby, the tables are ingrained with dirt and with old food and very very sticky. The restaurant is dusty.. furniture is tired, flooring dirty.. you can’t get away with this for much longer before the food police pay you a visit. So.. come on Zanzibar.. step up.. clean up your act before people start to find another restaurant to eat in that’s CLEAN.

The food is not as good as it used to be and to be honest I am not sure how this business is run, the customer service is terrible, you can order take away and an hour later its still not ready. Prime example of no one knowing what they are doing, it is incredibly sad as it used to be an amazing place to eat!

We went here for a Shisha and some drinks. The place was really busy and staff were nice. Prices are reasonable for London. If you like your Shisha and in a big group, this is a lovely place to go.

Went to Zanzibar today got a last minute booking. The service horrendous waitress couldn’t understand English very well..we ordered at 545 kitchen opened at 6 which was fine we got our meal at 7pm a whole hour of waiting. Food was not amazing the venue was minging...pretty disappointed and a waste of £60..got home 3 of us felt urghhh...!! Not impressed...!!

Awful place and very bad attitude by the staff... I asked for 2 chairs and they refused, without getting me any eye contact. Staff need training in basic customer service, they should be privileged to have a job, if you don’t like people, don’t work in a customer facing environment. I am surprised people rave about this place but I will not be returning at all.

Would not recommend this venue. Used to be good , with great food and ambience ... but its not the greatest, a bit grubby, needs a reno , and he staff really need training ... you could a wait a while for someone to take your order. Management is very poor.

The food was lovely, just the right amount of spice. The menu was not particularly extensive with a lot of rice and lamb dishes but little other choices of meat. Every dish we had was well presented and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed themselves, but the atmosphere was pub like. We were at the back to avoid the noise of the football match, The electrics were something to be desired with an annoying flickering light. As long as you are looking for good food and not for atmosphere this is a great place to eat Indian food.

Been coming here for years with friends and family and can't recommend more. Every dish we have tried is great and portions are sizeable too. Recommend the butter chicken and dum biryani and mixed grill.

First of all i have been coming to this restuarant for almost 10 years now but in the last few years there has been a major decline, and yesterday might just have been the worst food and service i have ever received... so bad that it made me make a tripadvisor account, not only did they put us in a rubbish seat after specifically asking for a good seat for the football they took 30 mins to bring us a bottle of wine!?! Starters were arriving before the drinks. Numerous times they forgot to bring things that we ordered and often we had to remind them. In recent times i have learnt to live with the terrible service because generally their food is really good, but even the food cant save it anymore its either too spicy or too mild I could go on forever... POOR POOR POOR

Have been a few times and have no complaints about this restaurant. Prices are reasonable and portions large. As others have said some dishes are quite hot so I normally go for the butter chicken which is delicious. Good pint of John Smiths for £3.40 - cheaper than the pub.

We ordered a takeaway meal on 30thDecember had family over from Holland for an early New Year dinner. Cooker not working so we voted for takeaway. Ordered on line for 11 people. The food arrived promptly and was still hot. No bad dishes and everybody enjoyed it. 2 vegetarians catered for as well. Very pleasantly surprised. This is an Indian restaurant catering for Indian taste so please bear that in mind as it might be a little hotter than you are used to. Not keen on their Tandori chicken but that is personal taste.

We tried the ZXan-Ze-Bar for the first time on Thursday 5th and the food was great, freshly cooked very tasty and well presented. The waiters were attentive and service overall was good. Be going to this restaurant for years, the food has always been really good and in all honesty still is.However the atmosphere, cleanliness and most of all service are not good.Empty at lunchtime when we arrived and looked closed as usual. The odd customer comes and goes but has a strange vibe to the place.Always takes ages for your order to be taken by staff who look like there'd just been give a parking ticket. The whole place just appears to lack a bit of tlc.Don't get me wrong the food is good and a bit different from most restaurants of this type in the area.Was once one of my favs but have finally given up with the place, won't be going back!!!!!

My first visit and I left happy. It was cheap and cheerful. The food and service were both excellent and good value for money. Venue is dated but facilities are clean. Will visit again as it is local but would not make a special effort to visit. Would definitely recommend a take away.

I have been coming here for years since it opened. Over the years it has varied between excellence and mediocrity. Yesterday I went for a drink and snack with a friend. I could not help but be disappointed by the whole experience - from the quality of the snack which was dire, the tiredness of the decor, through to the amateurish nature of the service being provided. I do not mind paying high prices for service and quality, but this experience was very poor indeed. It wouldn't take much to fix things but requires that the ownership pay a little attention to the restaurant, staff, quality of food and the experience of customers.

The service was awful. Even if the food was okay, the poor service counteracted any merits of the food to bring us an overall awful experience. For example, we had to wait 45 mins for someone to come take our order (and that was after my brother got up and went to get someone). We also ordered water with our initial drinks order and didn't get this until after the starters and mains had arrived.

This place is our fav to date, top.indian pub food, authentic indian dishes, made with perfection! So much thought has gone into the food...the paneer tikka Masala and naan was boom!

We have been going for lunch here for years. We loved the food, the owner has always been very friendly and it was so reasonable for the set meal. However, we went the other day and the chicken was disgusting. Some of the chicken was raw, some was sloppy and some was so hard that you couldn't put a fork into it.One wonders how long the food had been sitting around in the kitchen for - daysI would be my guess. We spoke with the owner and he was very responsive only for him to then take 10% off the bill. That's not customer friendly and highly offensive. Not a good way to treat your regular customers. No we will not be going back there.

So this place has been a regular of ours for years, the food has always been pretty decent and service good. We've even held large parties here with family. Not sure what's happened in the few months since we last visited but tonight was a disaster- the service was terrible. The waiter didn't really understand our order, then another waitress thought is was acceptable to constantly remove glasses (half filled with cocktails) and plates of food from our table whilst we were still eating and drinking. It was a joke...it has put us off eating there again, even though the food was yummy.

Visited for Sunday lunch, post local Remembrance Sunday parades, having not been to this local favourite for a few years.Seems to be under new management and decor has improved with a warm and modern purple colour.Great starters -lamb chops,chicken tikka,fried mogo and chilli paneer.This was followed by generous portions of methi chicken,tarka deal,steamed rice and a couple of roti. They also do a variety of milkshakes.All sufficient for a hungry family of four including two pre-teen children.Best of all accepted 2 for 1 on starters & mains via Voucher Code app (unlike another Indian restaurant that we originally booked in Belmont Circle).I'm guessing that the staff have carefully looked at the previous reviews as our waitress Halima was courteous and efficient,clearly explaining the menu and the 2 for 1 offer conditions up front before ordering. Slight misunderstanding with the bill but quickly rectified and apologetic.Trust me with the plethora of Indian bar restaurants of this ilk in Edgware & Harrow areas you could do a lot worse, so would be happy to return.

This was an old favourite of ours but haven't come here for a while.Strange arrival. Asked if we had booked which we hadn't. Restaurant was pretty much empty and it was 5pm so not peak timing. Waiter disappeared and after 5 mins of confusion which involved discussions with various staff, we were shown to a table. Drinks order was painful as the same waiter just kept getting confused. Not surprisingly he got order wrong. Luckily the food was fantastic with lots of flavour. Our little boys absolutely loved the kids chicken meal. We had a range of starters and mains and I must say I was impressed. If only the food was matched by the service. Needless to say it took us ages to catch anybody's attention about anything. It didn't ruin our evening like other reviewers but it was a shame. It would be easy for them to sort the service issue out and this would go back to the reliable quality place it used to be.

I love this place. The food is always good with an excellent range of dishes (good spice) and a fabulous range of vegetarian dishes. The staff are lovely. It's also excellent value for money. There is also a shisha lounge at the back if it takes your fancy.

So we went there for a family meal, and we used the taste card. The waitress that served us said that we are not allowed to do a take away on that card she did not say any thing about not taking away leftovers. When we asked to take the left overs home we were told by the waitress we aren't allowed. Then she turns around to another lady and says she can't deal with this infront of us which was terrible and we were shocked she could actually say this infront of her customers. The other lady said the same thing, that we can't take the leftovers home. We told her your going to bin the food as there was so much left and she said "OUR STAFF NORMALLY EAT THE LEFT OVERS" I was shocked! I cannot believe she actually said that! They proved the customer wrong which is terrible, spoke so rudely and the staff there were not at all trained! How can a restaurant keep such staff. I asked if the owner was there I was told no! And after 10 mins I asked again and I was told he was there so they lied the first time. The owner was listening to all this but was busy with a group of friends and did not care at all how his customers were being treated. I think he just cares about the money that he is going to get from customers. They then got the bill wrong! And over charged us. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I honestly would not recommend this place for anyone if that's the way they treat their customers! At the end of it all we found a hair in the food and they did not care one bit about it! All they cared was that we can't take the left overs home! It's terrible I'm not one to write like this but what's true is true! How does the owner not care! He was mingling with his friends. Cannot believe what I just experienced.

I just had dinner which I really regret as the staff have no manners or professionalism. As we arrived we advised we have taste card and asked if I had booked and I said no but am happy to go elsewhere if it's a problem. They said this time it's fine, so we ordered and have some food left over which we asked to be packed but were told as its taste card we can't take it away. I have used taste card before and no one has said no to a leftover take away. So halima who was serving us turned around to her manager SRijama and said as we were listening omg these guys are so difficult to deal with. SRijama than comes and I advised I don't like food wastage so she said don't worry the staff will eat it. I was in total shock...can you believe the nerve of them to tell me that.... The owner apparently we were told was not there but was around and simply couldn't be bothered. They didn't realise that a food critic doesn't just go for the taste of food but overall experience.It doesn't end here as they got the bill wrong too. This place should close down .

Nice spacious interior, with a big menu, including lots of vegetarian options. The food was very good quality with big portions. Unfortunately the good food is not matched with good service. Half the drinks took 10 minutes to arrive, with the rest arriving 10 minutes later. We were only asked 25 mins after ordering whether we wanted the starters to arrive with the mains. There's lots of competition around there, who all provide good service, so they'll need to rapidly improve their service.

Its a only choice we had to go to watched the football as its close to our house. Big screen and big place.. The food is lovely here, however the service was not great. We had to keep calling for the waiter. They had a new waiter and he had no idea what he was doing. Zanzibar kept blaming him for for bad service because he is new. But that just mean he is either not fit for the job , or he needs to be over shadowed at all times. Or training is not great.

We decided to revisit Zan Zi Bar restaurant in Edgware (Not Harrow) after many years of abstaining. With a change of owner, the staff and decor had also changed. The one thing we came back were for the reknown spicy peanuts but unfortunately, although the peanuts served were tasty, they were definitely not the same.Despite that, the mixed grill platter was really amazing and so filling when teamed up with fresh naans, that the four of us ended up not ordering any more, surprising even ourselves!!! Lovely atmosphere, our waitress was attentitive and we would come back, hopefully with a greater appetite!!
