We chose The Case is Altered for a festive lunch for Harrow Striders Nordic walking groups. The staff made our booking for 19 people very easy and the choices on the festive menu suited all our members as well as allergies being catered for. Renata and Toni were very friendly and looked after our group very well. We were allocated a corner area of the pub so we felt very comfortable and we’re able to chat and move between tables easily. The starters were really tasty and the mains very generous with nice desserts- wish I’d chosen the bread and butter pudding! I highly recommend The Case is Altered for a group dinner and hope the car park issues with Harrow Council can be sorted soon so we can go back.

We held a leaving party for around 50 people at TCIA and it couldn't have been more smooth. Food, drinks, staff - all great. Maria was wonderful to work with and I'd recommend for anyone looking to do something similar.

I was treated to a Late Friday Lunch at this pub. I chose this pub as had read good feedback. The pub was quiet not too busy. Looked very clean. Menu was only available via QR code, which i did not have neither did anyone in my party of 3. So we had to use waiters phone. Firstly i was disappointed at lunchtime no Cheese ploughman was on the menu. It said tradional pub meal but this was not the case. I was also disappointed as there was limited choice of vegetraian or vegan options. I chose Halloumi Burger and one had Beyond meat (vegan??) burger and third just opted for chips only. The halloumi burger was dripping all over the place with some sauce, halloumi cheese slice was very thin and burger was bulked out with massive lettuce leaves and some slices of tomato. Was given coleslow as a side and chips were included. Beyond meat burger was still raw in the centre thinking customer wanted medium rare. vegetraian burgers need to be cooked thro and not semi cooked. again bulked out with lettuce and tomato. Chunky chips were ok. Other choices of vegetrain options we did not fancy, especially pizza, humus and pitta bread and mushroom pie. And i hate goat cheese. DRinks were usual pub prices. Altogether it was an expensive lunch but i would only visit this pub for a drink at lunchtime and not a meal esp. being vegetarian. I hope the chef adds more vegetarian options as he has done for non-veg. If you go in the evening there is nowhere to park as outside the pub is double yellow lines and nearest car park from 1st Nov 2021 closes at 4pm. So if you live nearby you have to walk to this pub.

Living in Harrow, I usually turn south for my entertainment, today I went north for a change and 10 mins up then road found THE CASE IS ALTERED, what a find… I have found my new local. Service 10/10 Good, oh my goodness, superb 10/10 The atmosphere and buzzing nature of this super spot is a treat for all that visit, on your own, or in a large group; you will be welcome and fall in love this this great warm and friendly local. Lunch, dinner… drinks, or just a coffee in the lovely garden, this place would suit all tastes and fit all occasions. This needs to be on your visit list !!

My son and I were staying local and we saw this on the drive and thought we’d pop in for Sunday lunch. Pub was busy due to the great weather but we got a lovely table. Staff were attentive and food was great. We enjoyed the outdoor space and play area too. We actually ended up coming back the day after for lunch as we knew it was good value and great staff. If you’re in the area very much worth a visit.

Sunday lunch was excellent. Delicious roast beef and selection of vegetables. Piping hot. Friendly service. Will be back very soon! Highly recommend.

We met some friends for dinner here. There was a good selection of food and drinks. Unfortunately they have to close at 7pm due to the council car park's opening times.

We went as a group of 10 including kids. The food was really good and portion sizes were really good. Kids options were good and really good sizes also with a free scoop of ice-cream with the meal. Service was excellent despite being a large party. Everything was correct and we'll presented. Would highly recommend. Just be aware parking is a little further down the road but isn't too bad probably need a torch at night!

We met up with friends we hadn't seen for 2 years because of Covid-19. A couple of us had the Fish & Chips which was just fantastic - wrapped in newspaper the fish was substantial and the batter was light and crispy. The nut roast and chicken roast were equally tasty and filling. We ended the meal with chocolate brownies and apple parfait which not only looked great but the taste was divine. Thank you very much to Maria and the rest of the staff for great service and also to the Chef Stellian (I hope he stays and continues to produce his masterpieces.

Went for lunch with friends and my dog. Food was delicious and there was a great choice on the menu. Lovely gardens perfect for children. It was reasonably priced and the staff were efficient and friendly, the car park at old Redding has finally re opened so there is somewhere to park now. Definitely will go back served by Renata who was very nice

We held my son’s 5th birthday party here with 50 people and it was a huge success. The staff were so helpful - CJ and Maria were both always on point to make sure we had everything we needed, like I thought they went above and beyond to make the party a success. The food was great, everyone loved the pizzas especially. The venue is great for large parties , especially for kids. There’s loads of space for them to play and a lovely playground so the parents can relax and not worry about their kids. All our party guests were complimentary about the venue and the service and have told us they have been back there since! Thank you very much Maria and CJ for making my son’s party a great memory!

Just enjoyed a birthday meal with some friends at The Case. It's been a bit hit or miss in recent times, but today we had v good and friendly service and everybody really enjoyed their meals and drinks. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

Great service from Mati. The food was very good, except for roast potatoes which tasted fried. Roast beef was very good and was served rare, bonus. My son had pizza, it was freshly made and well cooked. Staff couldn't do enough to help and were all lovely. I was happy with the price in general but I think £5.50 for a kids icecream is a bit much. I would definitely go again. The car park at old reading is closed for some building work so I parked on the road. I think it's a shame as it must limit their business.

Covid-19 precautions are done properly so you can feel safe going there, that meant a lot for us. We finally have managed to visit after the announcement about the new head chef Stelian, you better book a table in advance as we were struggling a bit. I must admit the food was fantastic, his skills already brought up the reputation of this pub, hearing from other people as well. Corn fed chicken snitzel was fab and the rump steak extremely tender (hardly get something like this even in a restaurant) with that wonderful peppercorn sauce.I definitely recommend this place and will be back soon!I have a very little note tho, bar staff is a bit careless, chatting and laughing behind the bar giving not much priority to costumers.

So this pub is very quaint and has a lovely view. So if you want a quiet drink this place is ideal or if you would like to eat their food is always good I have always left feeling satisfied and relaxed. You can park in the big car park which is also a nice spot for walks or just taking in the sights.i would recommend anyone to visit .

This place is my all time favourite . The bar is well stocked, the menu is good , the food is ample and delicious. Seating outside is fun as the service is good and the garden well kept. Inside there is lots of space and good pleasant ambience. But ever since it's been renovated, they have taken off my favourite,delicious "nachos" off the menu!!

This pub is under new ownership and is due to have low key re-opening tomorrow, Saturday 16th June 2017. A bbq is due at lunchtime. Had to give it an 'average' so this could be submitted.

We could not sample its dubious wares as closed with no explanation. This was on Wednesday 14 th March so we ploughed onto the next pub on the corner which was also closed until late March for refurbishment. Not our lucky day!

I used to work in this pub a couple of years ago, however even after I left I still enjoyed coming for drinks. The pub is clean, the bathrooms are spotless and the bar staff is very polite. This place is recommended for families and also groups of friends. Great atmosphere and when the kitchen was opened , they did serve tasty food with multiple choice for everyone. Beautiful clean garden with beautiful views. Pet friendly as well. I recommend it to everyone.

We snuck in for a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Choice of food and drink was excellent accompanied by good, attentive service and a high quality of food. The pub itself is a great setting for a meal- a traditional look with a few modern touches. I had the chicken roast which was a massive portion and very tasty. My partner had the fish and chips and again a good portion and everything well cooked. We will definitely be back.

I have been a regular client for a wile now and I must say I am a bit disappointed in regarding the recent reviews therefore I decided to express my opinion in regards to this! As every pub there are good parts and also parts that can always be improved,so in terms of positives I would like to mention that the pub is open to different clientele-From teenagers to families and also ocazional parties,So it is a great mixed!! Summer time this place looks gorgeous as the location is perfect,the garden is huge and the playground allows families to relax while the children playing! Secondly I must admit that even trough the pub gets so busy that few girls that work there always they do there best in order to please each customer(and that it can get so hard to make everyone happy) of course if it's to busy then is only fair to wait until you get served widout complaining!! As regular client I would like to be coming in this pub and be able to relax with my family either by having a drink or having a meal (when the kitchen will open)as the atmosfere is welcoming at the ladies working there always looked after us and as an open suggestion(pardon me)I would really much like to be able to to see as well football games when coming at the pub!! To summarize I will not be put off because of the negative reviews and I would like my suggestion to be taken in consideration..!

I decided to go with friends for a meal in this pub but unfortunately the kitchen is stored for renovation so we decided to stay for a drink! Despite there is no food the place was very busy and they have only 1 bar staff managing on her one! We did enjoy the atmosfere in the big lovely garden with the sunshine weather! Never had a problem with this pub previously and it used to be very popular but the two bar staff completely ruined it for us and we won't be back in a hurry. The kitchen was still shut (29th May) but they don't tell you until you've sat down.Could even get a single drink order right. The bill came to £10.50 so I gave a £20 note over and was asked for the 50p if I had it which I didn't. I then said "is card easier" to which the response was "it's up to you". Obviously not otherwise I would have given you a card. Bearing in mind there were only 8 people in the pub I was asked the same question for the next drink - charged £5.50 for Havana Club(£3.50) and coke (£2) as they cocked up the order and made a coke on its own.No doubt another pub that will shut down if they are left in charge. What a shame.

I met here for lunch with a friend today as it was nice and sunny and we wanted to eat outside. We chose this pub because of the location and I had been on their website this morning and the menu looked quite good. We arrived and ordered a rose wine and asked to see the menu only to be told that there was no food being served as the kitchen was being refurbished. I asked why there was nothing on their website to let people know this and was looked at with a blank expression. We decided to drink our wine and go elsewhere but one mouthful was enough it tasted like watered down cheap wine with absolutely no taste. The whole place smelt of damp as well so we will not be returning here ever again. Don't waste your time.

We go every Christmas Eve as a group of friends and it get very busy. It can take up to 40 minutes to get served at the bar, however it is a beautiful little pub and a fantastic atmosphere. I would like to hope that on non public holidays it is not as busy.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. There weren't many people in the pub, and the barmaid told us that most of the beers weren't available (just a few lagers) and the restaurant was closed for a few weeks. I asked if the pub was under new management and she said no. Walking around, I noticed the peeling paint, the broken chairs littered around a side entrance, several large umbrellas discarded on their sides near another entrance, a bench with broken struts, a wooded area at the bottom which appeared to be a makeshift rubbish dump. This is a pub which needs to have some money spent on it. I don't know if the proprietors have run out of money or run out of interest in their pub. It needs to have some money spent on it. But it looks as if it might have been a nice place to drink, a few years ago when the paint was still fresh. Up the road, the Hare is clean, fresh and packed out with customers having a good time.

Another (2nd) awful experience despite being in a great location and a lovely building. We arrived for a quick Mother's Day drink after a walk to find most of the beers and lagers were off, MTV on loud in the background, poor/rude service at the bar, the kitchen closed and to cap it off the place was empty.Can someone please take this place over and turn it into a decent pub!

Came back after almost a year and even though the place was quiet, we've enjoyed ourselves. The food has improved a lot and you can feel the Christmas spirit.

I should have paid attention to the bad reviews, however, I made the unfortunate mistake of meeting a friend with my toddler here today. The bar staff are rude and abrupt but it's the food that has made me join trip advisor to write my first review. My child's chicken nuggets still had ice in the middle when I cut into them. I decided against their offer of a replacement as we had waited half an hour for frozen food to be served. The salad garnish on the main meal was just lettuce covered in salad cream and the burger was questionable so I only had a few bites. Unfortunately we had already paid otherwise I would have refused to pay for 2 of the meals but we were only given a refund when we asked for the child's meal. It is such a shame how the owners have let this pub go, I remember this used to be such a nice pub but obviously a long time ago. I think this restaurant should have been reported to the local environmental health officer and I will be following this up.

Went there for lunch on a first time visit after hearing a mate reminisce about the place. Bad move. We were the only people in the place, yet it still took 45 minutes to get 2 cheeseburgers from the lunchtime menu. When they did eventually arrive, the garnish was a pile of shredded iceberg lettuce and the food was so cold that the cheese was still chilled.The building itself is badly neglected. The wooden window frames are rotten and half missing. The glass is so loose that someone had tried sticking a bit back in with chewing gum!Needless to say, we didn't eat the food, didn't pay the £22 they wanted for the cold, late burgers, but did pay the extortionate £9 they charged for 2 drinks.Unless you want to be deeply disappointed I would avoid this place like the plague. It's a shame as the location is fabulous.

On arrival we were aggressively asked what wanted to drink, one pint of beer and a glass of wine cost £9.00The place was empty despite being a middle of lunch, which should have been a warning. After order burgers and chips, which they wanted to charge £11 each for, we waited over half an hour for the food to arrive, which was ridiculous considered we were the only customers, only to have it turn up cold. We left at this point. The building was also in very poor state of repair, with the doors to the garden rotting at the bottom. Avoid this place

This is one of those occasions where one feels embarrassed for whoever owns a place an thinks it okay to serve up food like they did for us today. It wouldn't have been worth complaining because the staff must have known how terrible the food they were serving was. On our arrival a member of staff clearly thought it was fine to text on her mobile phone rather than serve us - we should have walked out at this point, the dowdy blackboard outside was another clue as to what we were to get. Frankly the place needs sorting out. To give readers a feel, my roast chicken dinner was served as follows:Came is a shallow bowl rather than a plate, the chicken was dry, the carrots were either tinned or frozen (i.e. not fresh), the cauliflower and broccoli (1 piece each) was in all likelihood frozen, the roast potatoes were clearly oven baked rather than fresh and the yorkshires were also the frozen type. The really terrible thing is that it cost £11.99!!!!This place could be really good, the setting is great, but we certainly won't return until we see consistently positive reviews appearing on here.It really was very bad and this is an understatement, one star is too many really.
