Zaara in Cherwell

We went there yesterday. The food was amazingly delicious. We eat Indian food quite often, but the foods that we had yesterday were very good and so tasty. We will certainly visit this restaurant again if we go to Bicester next time. The gentleman name who served name 'Islam' was particular attentive, reassuring that everything was ok. Thank you.

I had a takeaway using just eat. I ordered for 2 people . We had a Causeway Zaara special which was perfectly spiced for my liking not too spicy medium I’d say, packed full of flavour, very tasty. The other was a lamb bhuna which was very tasty too . With mushroom rice and a garlic nahn. They also gave us poppadoms with salad and sauces. All food cooked well and will definitely order from here again . Great fast service . Thumbs up !

The most welcoming place in Bicester. Love it here staff super friendly, very chatty. Service perfect. Never rushed. Never ever had a bad experience here and I have been coming here for years. We went to Zaara with friends to celebrate my birthday, there was a warm welcome and the staff had decorated the window behind our table which was very thoughtful. The service was good and the staff helpful with menu choices. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Would highly recommend for a visit and we will be going back very soon.

We've had some really nice takeaways from Zaraa but unfortunately the one we had tonight was awful!My chicken tikka masala was extremely spicy and I do not like really spicy food which is why I always go for chicken tikka as its mild . The chicken was also very chewy and the onion bhaji was extremely dry.Very disappointing!

I love Indian food and this is the best I had in a long time. We ordered a take away and were really impressed with the quality. Everything was delivered at the right temperature and really fresh. You can tell the salads were freshly chopped and curries were freshly cooked as vegetables still had crunch. Mango curry was amazing, so was Jalfrezi. Overall really pleased with this place and will for sure be ordering again.

Wow! First time ordering and it wont be the last. I had a fish bhuna curry which was nothing short of Devine! My partner and I shared various items all of which were delicious!Bicester is graced with so many good indian restaurants and the food in here is possibly the tastiest I have had !Thank you Zaara. We have somehow missed Zaara as an Indian takeaway option for quite some time. Finally, a month ago, we have had a look at their website and realised we've been missing something special! It turn out that Zaara offers many exciting vegetarian dishes: chickpea curries, dalls, spinach, aubergine, paneer, etc. It's not the usual "replace chicken with vegetables" stuff, it's a proper selection of delicious options (each can come either as a main or as a side). Add to that the very yummy classics like naans (great choice of these), poppadoms, awesome starters like onion bhaji, and you're in for a feast. Very nice and friendly staff complete the excellent picture. Wholeheartedly recommended!

Tried most curry houses in Bicester this one is by far the best. Vegetarian options are really good too

We hadn’t been to Zara for 18 months but wanted to go for my birthday - we didn’t realise it had changed hands. The pickles were very different, interesting and tasty. The food was excellent and fresh, my mushroom dish was freshly chopped and the daal was the best I have ever tasted. The guys said their mixed tandoori grill was excellent.The service was slightly slow especially getting the drinks. They weren’t busy (which is surprising) but I don’t know what it would be like if they were. Will be returning soon.

We chose this restaurant after seeing it during a walk round earlier in the day and what a fab choice! We had the poppadoms and pickle tray as our starters, simple but tasty. Our main courses were chicken tikka masala, chicken dopiaza, mixed meat jalfrezi and I had a chef special with chicken, mushrooms and aubergines. The aubergines were incredible, cooked to perfection. All 4 dishes were plentiful and the sauces were thick and seasoned really well. The pilau rice was presented well and there was plenty of it. There were plenty of Bombay potatoes and again exceeded expectations. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was excellent as usual, delivery time was very quick and the driver followed contactless ordering fantastically stepping back from the door but not leaving until the door had been opened.Best chicken tikka masala ever, can't recommend the food highly enough. Looking forward to visiting the restaurant now that it is open again.

It's a really good place to visit and eat in BicesterI went with my Friends to this place for lunch, the food is amazing here fresh & tasty. Especially the meat & Rice with incredible sauces , it was really really awesome. Pro Staff especially a boy named Hasan is very good. Hasan ensures each and every guest is treated exceptionally with his great interpersonal skills. Who go to Bicester must visit this restaurant for their better experience in Bicester.

Wow. What a find. Fantastic king prawn puree followed by a duck bhuna madras hot. My wife had a duck tandoori massalla for her main course and it was excellent. Great service and great food. One of the best Indian meals we have had. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This is my fifth visit last 2 months. Foods are excellent, authentic Indian food . Good place to enjoy family time. Delivery on time.

Rang the restaurant 15 minutes after order was due to be delivered and app having said order had been delivered! At that point I was told that they could not fulfil our order and would we like to substitute something instead? This I did but also suggested that because it was a birthday meal and it was late and they couldn’t fulfil our order it might be a nice gesture to provide a little extra by way of compensation! At this point I was told that delivery would be another 20 minutes. After 30 minutes I rang the restaurant again to be advised that the delivery driver was en route but they had two orders with them and ours may not be the 1st to be delivered! Our meal having at last been delivered two hours after ordering they had substituted our mixed grill with a Jalfrezi which on their menu is £5 less! Not a fair substitution in my book. In addition they had not offered anything by way of compensation. My mixed starter which they also could not provide had been substituted with a chicken starter which I did not have a problem with. My advice for them going forward would be:Deliver on timeAdvise if order cannot be fulfilledIf order cannot be fulfilled replace with items of equal value or moreOffer some sort of compensation either monetary or goods Communicate with customerWill we use this restaurant again? Absolutely not!

Had a fantastic meal for my husband’s birthday in these difficult times we had a good experience on collection as staff carried out social distancing and hygiene we will definitely be back thanks so much to all at zaara

Had a meal here last night. Not been for a while and have to say the service and food was exceptional. Would highly recommend. Will not leave it so long in future. Thank you to all at Zaara.

We rang at 5.00 pm for a meal to be delivered and were told that the driver didn’t start until 6.00. We naively expected the food to be delivered by 6.15. It finally arrived at 6.45. Am unlikely to order a meal from here again.

Had another wonderful meal here. Titu, Cam and the girls always make the evening memorable. They are always welcoming and friendly and approachable giving suggestions whenever you want help choosing from the menu. The chef is always happy to modify a dish when asked and the food is always delicious. Looking forward to our next visit

It was our first visit to this restaurant and I was extremely impressed with the chef! I asked for our curries to be made not too hot and with some paneer added, and the result was the perfect heat and great flavour. Finished every last bit which is rare for me and Indian food. Delicious! Will definitely be going back.

We've always enjoyed the food from Zaara but the food has recently been brilliant. It's always a pleasure to chat with the owners, and they informed us their newly arrived star-chef worked in a highly regarded Birmingham restaurant, before moving to Bicester. The food is wonderful. I'm used to great curries from the north-east of England, and haven't always found the quality in Oxfordshire to be a match in some of the places I've tried. Zaara's new chef is providing food every bit as good as anything I've eaten in the north-east. I hope Zaara's new team go from success to success!

Great vegetarian food. The most fluffy and soft garlic naan we have ever had. The paratha was very nicely interleaved and crunchy. Curries were nice too. Vegetable biryani was full of spices and taste. Loved every aspect of the food. The owner and chef both, were very courteous and checked back on us multiple times. Overall a very pleasant experience and a must go Indian restaurant if you are visiting Biecester Village and looking to satiate your taste buds after a long shopping day.

Been a regular at zaara for many years, always been fabulous, however last night we returned to an exceptional meal .. food and presentation was out of this world they have new chef, highly recommended

Went to Zaara's last night to get a take away and chat with Titu and Cam. The big news was that they have a new chef so we had to give him a challenge! As we like spicy food we asked for something hot but flavoursome and the chef delivered beautifully.

If my partner and I go to an Indian restaurant, 9/10 times we'll go to Zaara. The staff are really friendly, always welcoming and recognise us when we walk through the door. They have a real personal touch.

This is our regular Indian restaurant to visit. The meal last night was spectacular even Cameron sorted me a special starter which was fabulous and Tito always making you feel welcomed. Highly recommend a visit to share the experience we have every time we go.

This place is a real gem, a warm welcome is always assured. We have become frequent visitors to this restaurant and are never disappointed. The food is always good, with Cameron on hand to help out if either unsure or just can’t decide. All the staff are great, very friendly. If you like authentic Indian food with a warm welcome try Zaara.

I often go to Zaara and is one of my favourite Bicester restaurants. Have to say though - the meal last night was fabulous. The chicken was the most tender, the sauce delicious and a lovely take on raita that tasted almost lassi like. Apparently this is the new chef at work - a good find!

It is a very cozy and very interesting place, the owners and the chef came to ask us how was the food, which is appreciated when you go to new places. Excellent place to return, especially if you love spicy. :)

We often dine at Zaara Bicester, the staff are welcoming and take time to take your order,nothing is too much trouble, you are not rushed in and out, the food if fabulous, tasty and full of flavour, this has become our favourite restaurant in Bicester, great value for money too. Absolutely brilliant! A surprise celebration for my 50th Birthday with family and friends was handled brilliantly by Titu, Cameron and the team. As there was quite a few of us we had a set meal with all dishes very tasty, Titu even brought out some hot curry sauce for those that like their curry on the very spicy side. Great food and great service.

Food acceptable but you will never get a delivery before 90 minutes. When you call they blame everything on the customer. Very poor customer service. So many competitors in the area easy not to go back or recommend.

I would like to think that I complain about nothing, having worked in retail there is nothing worse than a moaning customer. I have been to places for dinner where I have ordered something and been given something else, and I have not complained as the replacement has been of good quality. Please keep this in mind when reading and be fully aware that I have only created a TripAdvisor account because of how disappointed I am with Zaaras. Over two hours me and my family waited for our meals, I understand that takeaways can be prolonged due to staff shortages, but to forget our order and then rush it through in 20 minutes should not be allowed. The chicken was stringy and dry, the rice left a lot to be desired as well. To top it all off, no explanation or apology when delivered, missing items from our order and all round bad service means that I for one will never return to this place and will advise others of the same. Have never been so disappointed with a takeaway in my life.

We frequently dine at Zaara as the welcome is always warm, the service is good and the food is lovely. We took my in-laws for the first time and the staff talked to them about what they liked and how that would work in a curry. Mum-in-law can't eat anything spicy but had a delicious fish dish made for her that was perfect. It is great when staff ask what you like and actually provide it even when it isn't on the menu. I wish all restaurants treated their customers as well as this. As usual there was no hurry to eat and we had a wonderfully relaxing night. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have had takeaway curry delivered from here a couple of times now and both times it has been really good.

We have had many meals from Zaara in recent years, and have never been disappointed. The food is always good, and the service prompt and friendly.

Despite initial confusion of how to get into the restaurant (better signposting required please) we were pleasantly surprised to find this gem. The food was impeccable, service relaxed but efficient and staff incredibly friendly and attentive to any and all needs. We were left to eat and enjoy our evening for as long as we wanted, a clear difference to other places where they seem to usher you out of the door pretty much as soon as you've sat down.

The very atmosphere of the place was akin to that of a warm and cozy cabin (with the Indian aesthetic). It was perfect for the group I was in as it allowed us to make conversation during the evening. The staff were lovely and were incredibly helpful to us during the evening (in terms of deciding drinks!).

Meal was excellent and plenty of time between courses, varied menu, would highly recommend, and not overly expensive.

Myself and my husband have been going to the previous restaurant, The Taj Mahal, for years. We were so sad to find out it had closed down. However we decided to come and check out Zaara on a random spur-of-the-moment date night meal.

We are regular visitors to Zaara as they are always so welcoming and friendly. Fatima and Mahira are always beautifully dressed and give service with a smile. The food is always first rate and the chef is happy to tweek dishes to suit your tastes. The only Indian restaurant in Bicester that I visit. You can take your time over your meal and never feel like you need to rush. I couldn't think of friendlier, more welcoming people than the Zaara staff.

Had friends round Saturday night and decided to order take away from here, order placed at 6pm. By 730pm I called to see where our food was and was told it had left and was on the way. Called again just before 8pm, while on the phone the order arrived.

Called in after work without booking, managed to get a table as we where early. We both had a lovely meal service was excellent, they are always polite and able to explain the menu. They have a great choice menu.

Wow!! We were not disappointed! My parter and I visited Zaara for dinner and drinks. The food was absolutely amazing and service we couldn’t fault. Such lovely down to earth staff. Great food. I am veggie and there are loads of delicious dishes I can enjoy. If you get carried away and order too much, like we do, the staff will pack it up for you to take home. Good service, friendly and efficient, everything is nice and clean. They will always try to fit you in, but I would advise you to book especially at weekends, This is our 3rd visit and we always choose Zaara when we are in Bicester.

After having a poor experience at another Indian restaurant, we decided to try Zaara. Surely there must be a good curry house in Bicester.... well, we think we have found it!

I went for a lovely meal this evening. Not quite sure about what I wanted to eat the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about heat tolerances and curry styles. We had a great fish curry with various sides and other main courses. We had as much time as we wanted to eat our meal and happily took what was left home. A lovely atmosphere, great food and somewhere I'm happy to visit time after time.

I ate here with my wife and a visitor from overseas. The food and the service was excellent! My only criticism would be about the smell of burning incense and there were a few annoying flies buzzing around us - but don't let that put you off - This knocks spots off Shakils. Zaara now takes the top spot for 'Best curry house in Bicester' no question. I'll be back soon!

Zaara is my go to restaurant for a great night out in Bicester. The variety of dishes on the menu is second to none and I have enjoyed everything I've tried, both through random selection and recommendation by the staff who are always exceedingly polite, helpful and only too happy to help you find a meal to suit your tastes, dietary requirements or size of appetite.

Have been to Zaara a few times previously and I have been to all the other curry restaurants in Bicester, but no restaurant has the same warm welcome and happiness to serve the meal you want. The range of the menu is fantastic and the staff are more than happy to help you choose a dish and the prices are excellent. Only disadvantage is that it's not truly central, but easy to get to. Excellent food, brilliant staff, great food.

We went to Zaara this evening for a meal which was lovely. The staff were really friendly and helped when asked with menu suggestions on heat/ style preferences. Really enjoyed the evening and would definitely go back again.

Had a fantastic meal at Zaara on Saturday night, we were staying in the town for a couple of nights. A great choice of dishes at a good price. All friendly staff, a nice outside area were we sat to finish our drinks on one of the hottest day of the year!! Six people in our party two of which were children, we all said it was the best curry we had for a long time.

Had a Zaara takeaway this evening with my girlfriend, we both ordered the korma which was watery and flavourless and the chicken was terrible, it tasted processed, it definitely wasn’t fresh. Neither of us finished even half of our meals and definitely will not be ordering from here again. Massively disappointed.

We are regulars at Zaara. We love coming as a family of 3 and with our extended family. The food is excellent and staff are lovely. Can't recommend it enough.

I have been going to Zaara for over a year, pretty regularly. I've ordered or eaten from most of the Indian restaurants in Bicester and while I'd say there are a couple of other good ones out there as well, the important difference is these guys actually want to develop a relationship. They like the idea of having a conversation around what you like and how to tailor a dish to your tastes - I think the chef actually secretly enjoys the challenge!

We popped in here on Good Friday. The staff were very welcoming. We didn’t book but they had a table for us. It filled up quickly. Food came quickly and was delicious. We shared a rice but we probably could have eaten a portion each as they were not huge portions. We were probably in and out within a hour. Just what we needed after a long day of decorating.

It's such a shame that zaara is so hit and miss when it comes to delivering. If you see my previous post then you will see that I really rate the food. However too often I have had issues with zaara deliveries. Many times if you call later in the evening they don't answer the phone as they have phone recognition and know the caller wants a delivery. Tonight at 10pm I was informed they no longer deliver as the driver has gone home. The end result is I order from elsewhere that I know will offer reliability.

By far the best Indian restaurant in Bicester. Shakils is good but this is better This is our third visit and we can’t fault it The quality of the food is excellent but for us the service is second to none. You won’t be disappointed

We went there as a group of 8, all very happy with meals - all had something different. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy night. Friendly staff and great central location. Tandoori highly recommended.

My husband and I had a chicken jalfrezi from here last week and we agreed it was the best we've ever had. It wasn't swimming in grease and was so hot and flavoursome we almost ordered another one! Chicken was perfectly cooked too.

Nos quedamos muy impresionados con la calidad de la comida de Zaara, y la rapidez de entrega. Vivimos fuera de bicester, pero la comida llegó exactamente a la hora, y agradable y caliente, con extras como ensaladas y salsas. El Cordero y el pollo estaban deliciosos platos sabrosos con algunos - calor sin ser abrumador picante. Recomiendo encarecidamente la entrega para llevar Zaara, y me gustaría pedir de nuevo, incluso sin el 20% de descuento de la primera vez. Genial!

We ordered a take away like we do once a month from here, we were contacted to say our meal was ready just waiting for the driver, however our meal arrived forty minutes later and it was cold, so very disappointed. We have always been pleased with the service we have had in the past but this has now dampened our views on using them again.

Some of the best Indian food I've tasted. Ate in the restaurant and the waiter was so good with his recommendations. The dish was exactly what I envisaged. A rich and very flavoursome curry. Chicken was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend loves the basic prawn curry here and the mushroom rice was delicious. Always be sure to ask if there's anything specific you want, in my humble opinion the chef is excellent.

We couldn't believe the poor quality considering the great ratings on here. We got our meals delivered, which came in a timely fashion and the delivery driver was nice.The saag rice was old looking and discoloured The vegetable saag was over cooked and the spinach was mush, like it was tinned.The chips and onion bhaji were dripping in oil, like the oil wasn't hot enough when they were fried.The poppadoms tasted like they had been reheatedThe samosas were not crispyThe curries were floating in oiland everything required seasoning.I have never commented on trip adviser before but we unfortunately spent a lot of money on a family meal that was inedible.

Wandered into town after shopping trip to Bicester village. Selected Zaara after quick beer in local pub. Nice welcome and manager took time to chat as we placed order. Starter fresh and tasty. Mains arrived and accompanied by supererb naan breads and fresh hot Ali Gobi and rice. Mains good but lacked a bit of zing.. Good quality but needed a bit more "pezzaz" as my wife explained. Would return again and try alternative choices for mains as it may have just been out selection this time.....

We get delivery from here quite often and the food is always hot on arrival and very tasty, I love trying new items as I know it will always be well cooked and fresh. The delivery staff are always cheerful and friendly when they deliver the food.

We visited this restaurant for the first time recently and the service is excellent. All the staff are very attentive, helpful and polite. I cannot fault the service, probably some of the best in Bicester.Curries are my favourite meal and so my standards are set pretty high but this meal certainly met them. The Madras was nice and spicy and most of all fresh, with huge pieces of chicken. My partner got the Keralan Murgh, and although I wouldn't have that as it is not spicy enough, I did try some and it was very very tasty! The naan bread was most definitely fresh It is all reasonably priced as well.Despite the comment of the previous reviewer, we were provided with a drinks menu at the table.We will certainly be visiting again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant

Mouthwateringly good food in a calm relaxed atmosphere. Only niggle - no drinks menu so when they ask what you'd like, you have to guess what there is.

The drive home was agonising, as the smells coming from the take away ordered last night were distracting. The food was beautiful, and they don't skimp on the meat. Tried the Chicken Shashlik, Biryani, and Tikka Marsala. Wonderful flavours, and the online ordering was easy, and the food ready exactly on time. Well done.
