Wednesday nite - well done to Zaals ! Superb meal topped off with the best ever dessert...... not on the menu but when i handed our great waiter a personalised banana with a request fritter ak( please please) could i have some fritters, the chef sent back a plate of stunning fritters Oh.My.Goodness they were soooo good !! thank you so much for all the cooking to achieve a memorable meal,

Visited in October for Sunday buffet, which was good. Went back recently to dine off a la carte menu. Food was lovely friendly staff and efficient service. Will definitely go back again, very soon.

We have been to this restaurant 3 times now. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We went for the Sunday buffet on this occasion and there was a very good choice of dishes all of which were cooked to perfection. We were a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 2 and they provided chips for the children at no extra cost and only charged for 1 child's meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We couldn't think of where to go, and my brother recommended this restaurant, and what a delight it was. I went with a friend and firstly ordered a few poppadoms that were combined with a nice selection of sauces. I then had the Chicken Tikka starter that was tasty, followed by the Chicken Pathia. Now I'm a bit of connoisseur when it comes tot he Pathia and there aren't many restaurants that get the balance right. It was awesome here, and probably the best that I've had in a restaurant. The cost was a bit more than an average indian restaurant and came to more than £70 for the two of us. That included a couple of large bottles of beer each, which is probably where most of the cost is. I will definitely return though, that chicken Pathia was something else.

Been here a few times now and they always serve up superb quality food. The Hundi Lamb is the best Indian dish I have ever eaten...thoroughly recommend!! The staff are amazing and very friendly too. Can't wait to go back 👍🙂

Fantastic restaurant. We go on a Sunday where they have the buffet which is a set price per person but you can eat as much as you like .Lots of lovely dishes available - 8 dishes including naan breads, 2 kinds of rice, tandoori chicken wings, deep fried prawns, potato saag, chicken tikka masala and other mouth watering curry dishes. Staff really friendly. Lively atmosphere In restaurant. Very clean. Great place to dine.

I visited on a Weds night and tried the banquet offer £12 for a starter, main, side dish and rice or Nan bread and found the food amazing. Good portions, freshly cooked and authentic Friendly service the restaurant was busy with many regulars by the look of things I recommend the restaurant give it a go you won’t be disappointed

I order from Zaal probably once a monge sometimes more and go for meals there. I picked my Indian up tonight and my 8 year old daughter loves poppadoms but only with the mango sauce, every time I go in there for my takeaway I ask if she can have a pot and they have always put a pot in! Today however the man said no she can’t have one as you have to pay extra! The amount of money I have spent in that restaurant you would think a few table spoons of mango wouldn’t be any trouble but obviously was. So will will the last time I go in there.

Terrible service waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for a 50 minute order time and staff still didn't know when the order would be ready. 20+ customers waiting for food zaal you got to greedy tonight.

I am extremely picky with Indian restaurants and struggle to find one that ticks all the boxes for me. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area if not the best I’ve ever had! From sauces to mains food was cooked beautifully soft good quality meats would definitely recommend this restaurant I will not be eating from any other Indian! Not sure how this restaurant has received bad reviews it is quality food!

What as gone wrong with this place, the food is awful, they add more food to you're order and charge you, we had a bad takeaway a few weeks ago and just put it down to a one off, but last nights was even worse, 70% went in the bin, sorry but I won't be back anymore.

We always feel welcome here, the service is great and the food is tasty and fresh. Highly recommended.

I visited Zaal with my partner, it was a first for us and we’ll definitely go back. I had prawn purée for starters which was full of flavour followed by chicken tikka masala, the sauce was thick and creamy with tender pieces of chicken. The service was good and the waiters very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

I reluctantly went to Zaal on Monday evening. I was nervous due to the current pandemic. The service was excellent and the quality of food was great as always. Thanks for a good experience Zaal!

We have now experienced Zaal's advertised Sunday Buffet, having visited last week. What an excellent choice of dishes, all well presented and so tasty. We were the only diners, so the service we experienced was first class. Some items were cooked freshly, just for us. We could also request extra dishes not currently on view, too.All in all, great value for money, and we shall definitely return.

We had previously eaten here few years back when it first opened and thought was nice food was good but service was rushed they couldn't get us out quick enough. So stuck to the odd take away now and again from here but usually we go to a more local one that delivers. A friend recommended the Sunday buffet and I have to say it was excellent! Not sure if new owners since 1st opened? The service was fantastic brought us out fresh dishes and made whatever we wanted. Excellent value for money too.Will definitely be back again soon!

We stopped visiting Zaals as the quality of service declined, gave it another chance and the service is back to its previous high standards. As always the food is of a high quality. Look forward to returning in the near future.

This has got to be the best Indian Restaurant in Thurrock!The service was exceptionally brilliant!I am a wheelchair user and the staff were just fantastic with assistance. There is a step to encounter when entering the restaurant that I felt would be impossible to attempt in a wheelchair however in a split second I had my own magic carpet! The staff made any access issues disappear!The food was formidable! It was piping hot and smelt exquisite! Must admit my friend and I ate the lot! As soon as my glass was empty I was asked if I wanted another drink!All in all by far this has to be the best restaurant in its field!I'm going back on Friday this time there are 6 of us and I'm looking forward to it!

Went there end of February with brother & Sister in Laws. We got seated fairly early to miss the crowd. Took about 15 mins to get first drinks and about another ½ hour for our food. The waiter didn't seem to have a very good command of English but fortunately there were 2 younger girls, bar staff I think, that were probably English born that sorted any probs out. Except for this the staff were very nice and helpful. The food and accompaniments was very good. Nice atmosphere, clean restaurant and a very slightly over the top on price but not much. Would recommend this to any "Fellow Trippers" .

We have just discovered this fabulous Indian restaurant. The Sunday buffet is exceptionally good value - an all you can eat extravaganza. The food is freshly cooked, tasty and varied. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I went to Zaal for the first time on Wednesday night. We were attracted by the midweek special which is a starter, a main rice or a naan and a glass of wine or beer for £11.95 a head. I have to say the service was fantastic and the food really good.it was really good value for money. We will definitely return.

Invited by friends for Birthday Celebration, it's their local - Frankly, not looking forward to the experience, as we went when it first opened, & they were completely out of their depth. "Clientele" was extremely raucous to say the least, the sort of place you'd go if you like some food to soak up the alcohol!! Mrs R has been a couple of times since, reporting similar.We went Sunday Eve, & found it empty, only a couple of other tables throughout the night ( this must be something to do with us, as it keeps happening) - Service a little haphazard, but friendly & attentive, & we got there in the end. Always wary when going to someone elses' Local Indian as it rarely measures up, but food was, surprisingly tasty & well presented.Wouldn't go out of our way to eat here, but certainly would go again - It was a nice night.

As ever you always start by reding negative reviews and my wife and I visited Zaal not knowing what experience we would have. We were greeted on arrival, seated quickly, drinks ordered and poppadums brought out all as expected. Shared a starter of mixed kebab which was nice but the mains were excellent. The chicken rezala was very nice, first time having that type of dish and my king prawn jalfrezi was very good. Sides etc were good and a nice complimentary whiskey and coke finished off a very good mid week treat. Good value too with the midweek special of starter,mains, rice, naan and drink for £12. We would certainly go back!!

Very disappointed had to wait 30 minutes for a table we booked in advance then waited an hour and a half for the food, the food itself was not great and came not how we had asked for it, the menu is very limited, and was very expensive. to say we were on the verge of walking out after waiting 2 hrs i wont be going back and suggest to others not to go

Tried the Zaal when it first opened, wasn't overly impressed but decided to give it another go. The decor is good, the service was only average and the food itself was good enough. The major let-down was the poor wine list - only a choice of four whites I think. There are reds, roses & sparklings etc. but I think that there should be more than four straight white wines to choose from. The other disappointment was the sweet menu. Most Indians only seem to do ice cream but the menu said they did dough balls with syrup so I asked for that - guess what - it wasn't available! Guess what else? I probably won't be going back.

I find myself conflicted by this establishment!The greeting us friendly enough but it's not that personalised, the greeter seems to be very distracted by what's going on outside and is not overly focussed on you.The decor misses the point a little, they clearly want quality but it's a very mixed bag of looks with a very poor choice of Muzak instead of nice music.I ordered a Goanese king prawn dish, it was very mild and not overly warm bearing in mind I took it one mile home. The menu is very limited and a little uninspiring and the dish I ordered appeared to have great promise on the menu that sadly it didn't live up to!Naan bread was ok nothing exciting!Some good customer care actions whilst I was there, but some serious tweaks needed if it's to attract customers away from the other 4-5 Indian restaurants within 4 miles. We were obviously there, the same night as the first reviewer (12th April). I have to say that the cause of the disturbance was the manager's fault; asking a couple to move half-way through their meal, to accommodate a loud group of blokes, who must have been watching the footy that afternoon. The couple should have been sat in a cosy corner; not in the middle of the row of tables. We actually followed the group in, and stood like lemons, waiting for our booth table, that we'd pre-booked.Anyway; we were shown to our table. I found the lighting nice and moody. Not stark, like the Bekash. The food was lovely, and the girl taking our orders etc, was as good as gold.When it did all kick off; the manager seemed out of his depth, and we just hunkered down, and carried on eating.Maybe they need to decide on their desired client base. Then again; it can't be easy to turn away a money-spinning group. Will try again sometime.

Tried this new restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night. On entering we were greeted by the sight of the manager or owner shouting at his staff who were all running around very flustered. This did not give a good impression.We were then seated in the restaurant and were deciding what to order when someone on the next table suddenly lost their temper, emptied their tableware all over the floor and had a face to face stand off with the manager! At this stage I was tempted to leave but the customer left and we thought we would stay.A very nice young chinese lady came round asking people if they would like drinks and very calmly and effectively calmed the situation. I think to be honest she was very good at front of house and maybe she should be promoted to meet and greet!!We ordered our meal and had the Zaal Special which was very good. All through the meal though the noise in the restaurant from other diners was very loud and we could hardly hold a conversation. Not sure if this was due to loud diners or poor acoustics but it was very annoying.The food was not cheap but very tasty. The ambiance and staffing leaves a lot to be desired and we will not be returning.
