Encontramos esta joya escondida ayer. . . Y definitivamente visitará de nuevo. .

I'm done with this place. I started a new job in what is widely billed as Birmingham's creative quarter last year, and since then I've tried various food outlets. Everything from archetypal greasy spoon cafes to the nearby, and somewhat more up-market, Old Crowne pub. Customer service at Yumm is dysfunctional to say the least, as it's not clear who is waiting in line for food or who is already being served. The staff don't know either. I've visited Yumm several times, but it's clear there is no 'in out' system to speak of, and I'm not sure which is worse: the staff or the customers. On my last visit I was clearly at the front of the queue, but someone unapologetically barged in front of me. When I protested he said, 'I thought you were just standing there'. Well yes, I was. I was *just* standing there being ostentatiously ignored by both staff and customers. I'm told this was Yumm's busy period, but I don't think it was any busier than other eateries. I've visited similar venues and felt happier with the service. To add insult to injury, the man who pushed in front of me was served before I was, before making off at high speed. I'm sure this was all a coincidence, but it certainly didn't feel like it. I had an egg and mushroom muffin and, as time crawled by, wondered if the staff were waiting for their hens to lay. Or perhaps a late delivery from their local mushroom dealer. If you want a dry run for the zombie apocalypse Yumm is definitely the place for you. The customers stand around gawping at their surgically attached phones, while the staff generally look helpless. Social skills are thin on the ground, but perhaps that's just a sign of the times. The whole experience feels like a well orchestrated culinary insult, choreographed by someone with a PhD in passive aggression. It's a shame because the venue looks fine on paper, located in a prime spot on Birmingham's Custard Factory complex, adjoining a walk-in art gallery. If this is the creative quarter I fear for the future of British creativity, but I won't bother darkening Yumm's door again. Rudeness isn't good value for money.

If you are mooching around the Custard Factory and Zellig then Yumm is open from 7:30am - great if you are having an early meeting or arrive early for a training or interview. Mo and the team serve up a reliable and consistent range of paninis, cakes, salads and cooked breakfasts/ lunch and my favourite freshly cooked omelettes for breakfast.

Myself and 12 others (plus two babies) were let down by another restaurant in the custard factory and needed to find somewhere fast to eat for my daughters first birthday gathering. The staff quickly found us enough chairs and tables, ensuring we could sit together and also provided high chairs. They gave us free jugs of squash for the children and extra bowls of wedges to go with our meals. The staff were kind and attentive. I can’t rate this place high enough. The food was yummy too! Oustanding. I’ll be back again for sure.

I have been visiting Yumm for a number of years and have always been impressed with the range and consistent quality of their food. From breakfast muffins, meals and toasties to wraps, meze, salads and main courses at lunch not to mention their range of home baked cakes and sweet snacks. Vegetarians, vegans and carnivores are all catered for and they are happy to remove the bread or serve unusual combinations of their food if that is what you want. All the servers are polite and friendly offering help and advice if necessary. They also serve a range of coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as fresh juices and smoothies. Excellent value for money and also good for a treat if you feel like it!

I have used Yumm's a number of times always feeling a little flat/deflated by the food quality, but returning to "give it another try".Well last week was the final straw for me.I went to pick up some lunch and went for the Aberdeen Angus burgerwith relish and wedges. The food was delivered in an okay time for the mind blowing price tag of £6.00 - so i thought this must be one hell of a burger. When returning back to work with my lucnch to sit down and feast on this amazing burger i was expecting, yet again I was left disappointed. The bun was dry and bland, the relish was almost like a posh chunky ketchup and the burger had been cooked within an inch of it's existence! Dry and firm. The wedges were okay, but the coleslaw, well, I think the Yumm owners must have shares in an onion farm as it was packed to the hilt with onions, onions & some more onions. You can walk 3-4 minutes up Digbeth high street and get much better burgers and food. My advise to any visitors is ....get walking!

It was super packed, but the lines were organized and service moved quickly. You have more healthy choices than most Cafes I have seen in Britain, with various organic treats to choose from as well. I've spent many lunch-times and quick coffee stops here. The staff are always very friendly and service tends to be quick. The food is served fresh and there's always a lot of choices. Their cakes and pastries are a mixture of homemade and bought-in so there's never a shortage of choices. You should aim to get here early if you want seats around lunch-time. But saying that, there are plenty of seats and people tend to move on quickly. My favourites are the fish finger sandwiches and the halluomi flatbreads. The staff are always extremely welcoming and friendly and even at their busiest times (it is lovely to see queues at any time, anywhere, in The Custard Factory) you can be sure of a smile and professionalism. I came here on a late Friday afternoon after having visited the Custard Factory and the nearby Eastside Projects. There were only a few other customers, a group of 4 so it was very quiet. I ordered a regular hot chocolate. The lady serving us asked for my name even though there were only 2 customers queuing i.e me and a friend so that did seem a little odd. The ratio of chocolate to milk was just right as I don’t like it too milky or too too chocolatey and it was frothy all the way through, just as I like it. The temperature was not scorchingly hot so that I’d have to wait 10 mins for it to cool down and not too cool so that I’d want to gulp it down. It wasn’t very sweet but I didn’t mind as you can add sugar according to personal taste. A regular sized hot chocolate at Yumm costs a reasonable £1.95 which is cheaper than most places in the city centre.

I work near to the Custard Factory so visit Yumm probably three - four times per month. I usually have a sandwich or a jacket potato and enjoy the nice surroundings. I do agree with others that there's surely a better way of food and drink orders being given to customers. Yesterday my hot wrap was ready but I then had to wait nearly 5 minutes for my cup of coffee and couldn't start eating in peace as, due to being on my own, I was concerned that I may not hear my name being shouted unless I stood near to the food/payment area. They are very keen to push the meal deal (wedges and coleslaw) which I personally don't want to eat at lunch time as it's too filling. It would be nice to have a small portion of mixed salad included in the price when just eating a wrap as it would really help with presentation and would make it better value for money. I will continue to eat in Yumm as the atmosphere is nice with non intrusive music in the background and it's a nice place to escape for 30 minutes during a busy day.

Ate here yesterday. Fantastic staff so helpful, friendly and charming. Food was reasonably priced and acceptably cooked, however, not fantastic. I had eggs benedict; okay and tasty enough but the hollandaise sauce came out of a jar and the poached eggs were not soft boiled. My husband had a full English breakfast; he said it was nice enough but not anything special. Would I recommend? Hmm...not sure.

Had a quick lunch here whilst attending a meeting at the Custard Factory. It's a decent sized place and on the Saturday afternoon I was there very busy with lots of life. The food was good; I had an interesting pulled pork wrap that was very tasty, and though I didn't have any the cakes on offer looked good too.A couple of little tweeks would make take this from a nice place to a really nice place and they've been mentioned by others. The hollering of names could be replaced by a more traditional service; and the wedges (though alright) are clearly of the frozen variety.Otherwise though if you're that way and need to grab a quick coffee or bite to eat you could do a lot worse.

Nice place for tea coffee or lunch. Sandwichs are fine and fresh but what a let down to get some frozen potato wedges as a side....They should definetely hire some waiters as they are screaming people name when your order is ready. When you are working, reading or just relaxing its a shame to hear someone screaming a name every 5 minutes.

Had my second experience of Yumm outside catering for a business meeting at the Custard Factory. Good sandwich fillings in better-than-average bread (if a little thinly sliced for my taste!) and a fab range of bite-sized cakes for pud. A satisfying lunch.

I went for lunch yesterday, it's a treat when I'm at the custard factory for training. The Menu isn't long but food is tasty, there are good healthy, veggie and vegan options as well as more indulgent and meaty options and cakes. The coffee is good and there are plenty of alternatives. Yesterday there was a fire alarm just after we had ordered and paid, and we had to sit outside for about 40 minutes. When we got back in of course our food was cold and the kitchen shut down, and we had to get back to our seminar. The cafe replaced our meals with sandwiches from the fridge which we could take out and vouchers for free coffee on our next visit. I so appreciated this, I am diabetic and I had eaten my emergency snack while we were waiting, I needed my lunch! So, I had a delicious, fresh, humous and veggie wrap and a pack of pipers crisps instead of my falafels, and my friends had nice sandwiches also instead of their burger and chips, we were all happy and we'll be back soon!

I like the atmosphere and the decor here and the lunch prices are very reasonable. Food is also of a good quality as is the coffee and the staff are lovely. The choice is limited and they don't change what they do that often, it's usually a mix of some staples that they offer quite regularly. Food is tasty however and the vibe is great!

Stumbled across 'Yumm' whilst visiting a vintage fair at the Custard Factory. It was lunchtime and extremely busy, however we found a table and the atmosphere was bustling rather than overcrowded. The menu changes daily therefore the prices are written on/next to the food and it is all visible through glass in a kind of 'canteen-style' presentation. This meant you could see everything was fresh and make an informed decision to what you wanted! I ordered a mozzarella and pesto panini as a 'meal' (therefore it came with potato wedges and coleslaw). The portions were very generous and the food ready in about 5 minutes. The coleslaw was genuinely the best I've ever tasted! It was cheap at around £5 (without a drink) and the service was extremely friendly. I would definitely return to this place!

Love this place. Super-friendly staff and good vibes all round! Food cooked on the premises is consistently scrumptious. The fact they've been going so long when lots of other places in the area have bitten the dust is testament to the constant development/refinement of their offering. Check it out.
