Yu and You restaurant and bar in Ribble Valley

We had an excellent visit to Yu which for us always delivers the quality of food that we have come to expect having visited for many years! Service was good for us and the kids enjoyed the mocktails at the bar before being seated. Not the cheapest but for us definitely worth it!

Firstly I’ll say that the food at Yu is absolutely delicious. The portions are the perfect size for me, big enough that you feel full after your meal but not too big that you can’t enjoy a starter and variety of sides. I had the salt and pepper chicken wings to start followed by the char sui pork. My husband had salt and pepper ribs followed by chicken curry. We shared egg fried rice, soft noodles and salt and pepper chips. You might guess that we really like salt & pepper! Overall the food is very tasty and light in a way that is different from your run of the mill British Chinese food. The menu is a great mix of classics and more inventive things. I do think that the service could have been a little tighter. We ordered a bottle of pinot grigio and the waitress didn’t seem to know if that was a white or red wine. When our starters arrived we hadn’t had our wine and by the time we’d almost finished the starters it still hadn’t come. We asked about this and very much got the impression that the wine order had been totally overlooked. Not having any drinks when the food arrives is something that I’d expect waiting staff to pick up on. The waiting staff are all pretty young and came across as a little awkward. I think if they were more confident and observant it would have made for a better overall experience. Slight niggles about service aside we had a very good meal and will definitely go back again.

Visited with friends for the first time. Service was extremely poor staff were too busy chatting to actually serve customers. The food was average at best my local take away has much better food at half the price. 2 of our meals were cold & the rice was over cooked. Tried to complain but staff couldn’t care less. Drinks are also very overpriced. Will definitely not return.

Very slow service- lots of apologies but constant delays throughout the service. We have been here several times and the food is good and can carry 7/10 service but the food alone is not good enough to carry 5/10 service. Lot of excuses about how busy they were on a Saturday night !! Food was decent - chicken starter, crispy duck and sea bass were the stand out dishes..

Have visited Yu & You, later Yu, now Copster Green Restaurant for many years commencing following Gordon Ramsey program! It was excellent! I no longer see members of the Yu family in the restaurant! The menu is largely the same! Strongly recommends customers to avoid the ‘banquet menu’! Trying to be balanced and fair. Unlikely to return.

One of our friends booked this restaurant, and I was little worried after reading the most recent reviews, about the service. I needn’t have been. Excellent from start to finish. The bar is a great place to meet before taking your seat. The good atmosphere continues into the restaurant. The food is excellent. Decent wine choice. Great night!

What a beautiful place this is Excellent hosting and service, fantastic drinks menu and cocktails and the food is out of this world It was our first time visiting and we were blown away by it, such a lovely evening with our friends, enjoying delicious food My personal favourite was the King Prawn and Scallop vermicelli, incredible.

We were here for Valentine’s Day. I had booked 3 months before as I knew we were staying in a hotel close by. I was very much looking forward to our meal. It was delicious, don’t get me wrong. I really enjoyed it. I think because we’d built it up as such a great place to go we were a little disappointed as our usual Chinese restaurant near where we live would be better food in our opinion and mildly cheaper but it was still very tasty, the ambience was lovely, staff were great. Always checking how we were even though it was very busy. The table was lovely and the decorations were great. We did really enjoy our time here but I’m not sure we’d go out of our way to visit again now that we’ve tried it. I enjoyed my mocktail too.

Booked here to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and we have been in here a handful of times and always had a nice time with attentive service. We walked in here and the locals were gathered around the bar as usual talking to the bar manager and we walked to the other end of the bar and stood, and stood and stood ignored for a good 5 mins !! Talk about feeling invisible, and when we were asked eventually had we made a booking we were made to feel like they couldn’t find it and made us feel bad which is not a nice feeling when you are out for a family celebration Shown to the first table on the right and the young waitress didn’t really engage with us; maybe new who knows Salt and pepper ribs were all gristle and no meat at all which was disappointing The rest was just mediocre which at the price you pay in there isn’t worth it Shame as we did like it previously in here will now go elsewhere

Regrettably, despite the restaurant's appealing decor, pleasant ambiance, and decent cuisine, its consistent deficiency in service compels us to forego future visits. While the prices suggest a level of service that would justify the premium, our experiences were marked by prolonged waits for seating and orders, exacerbated by staff members preoccupied with personal conversations rather than attending to patrons' needs. Although the bartender stood out for his professionalism, the overall lack of attentive service falls short of expectations for an establishment of this caliber. Consequently, we reluctantly conclude that our patronage is no longer warranted, with the hope that improvements will be made to restore the establishment's reputation among discerning diners.

sorry to say had been so looking forward to going to Yu after only had a takeaway before! went for the new year banquet to celebrate our anniversary what a disappointment no celebration / no atmosphere / draughty room/ food no better than the local takeaway and at inflated prices with service charge to boot! service ok but we wernt even offered a sweet or coffees to finish off, a let down and wont be returning

Me and my Wife booked on for the Valentines Night and all we could say was wow! Such professional service staff who are also a good laugh. We ordered the bamboo chicken and the duck rolls from the small eats section of the menu and they came to our table within 5-10 minutes (Super Speedy compared to some places i’ve been) and they were delicious. That bamboo chicken is something else. For the main course our server recommended we tried the black cod as this was a new addition to the menu and what a great choice that was! Such a delicate fish served beautifully in champagne and miso. I will 100% be back with more people. Thank Yu!!! x

i booked in this restaurant as a birthday celebration for my son and i have to say we don’t go out often but this was exceptional. As we arrived we was greeted by the amazing bartender at the front who made us delicious cocktails and a mock tail for my son who loved it. We was took to our table and sat down by a pleasant young lady, the staff were lovely all night and very attentive to our needs. We ordered a few small plates to share including the amazing spicy honey chicken wrapped in bamboo. I was very indecisive over the char sui pork and the belly pork but decided on the char sui pork and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and the drinks were fantastic. We will most certainly be coming back 10/10

Just an average Chinese at exquisite prices! My wife and I took my father for his birthday meal. To say we left underwhelmed would be about right. The service is excellent. The restaurant itself is trying to give vibes of a high end restaurant but sadly the food does not back this up! Whilst perfectly edible it is, just average Chinese food. We all agreed we would have been better off ordering from our local take away. For the prices you pay in this restaurant I would want the food to blow my mind. It did not. Avoid the crispy belly pork at all costs! It is not crispy is any way shape or form. We sent the dish back which was taken without question and removed from the bill but the feedback from the chef was “this is how I serve it”. If that is the case, change the menu description. The restaurant was extremely busy and also extremely noisy. It was very difficult to enjoy a conversation. Would I return? Sadly not.

Date night for us was exceptional. The cocktails are great. We sat at the bar and waited for our table. The atmosphere was great. Once seated at the table we chose the banquet menu which was amazing and it gives you a little taster of the most popular dishes. The wine was lovely and we were not rushed whilst requesting a break between courses.

Myself and my boyfriend visited for the first time today. We were seated straight away and were the first to arrive. Despite it getting busier towards the end the service was still spot on. Special shout out to Ellie who was great. Was slightly apprehensive after reading the comments regarding small portions. However we ordered off the banquet menu and found it very good value for money. We were absolutely stuffed and had to ask for a box for our left overs. Our favourites were the sea bass, scallops and sweet and sour chicken. Will definitely be back :)

Very disappointing waited 20 mins and was completely ignored not even asked what we wanted to drink

Food was small for the price, chicken was rubbery, initial drinks took a while to come out. after 30 mins of leaving the restaurant we are hungry and had to order a takeaway.

I last visited the Yu restaurant 4 yrs. ago with my late partner, we both loved the place. I have tried to book it since she died but when I said it was for 1 person it was all of a sudden booked up that night, I found this disgusting and shameful and because of the links with my lovely, departed partner very sad. I booked it and said there were 2 of us coming no problem to Yu's restauarant why should you be victimised because you've lost someone or are solo for whatever reason. The service was 5* with excellent young staff, well trained and polite and attentive. I had the same starter and main that myself and my partner had 4yrs ago to relive a happier time for me, but it was not as good and at £44 por value.

Myself and five friends went on Saturday 14 the staff were excellent unfortunately the food was very poor it was to dark and the music was to loud so our stay was very disappointing I would never return or recommend it sorry

Excellent staff and service...it is apparent they have been well trained. They were all friendly yet professional. The food was good. But I'm afraid it is heavily overpriced. A very well presented bar and restaurant but the music was far too loud for a restaurant setting, obviously catering for a specific demographic. It's a shame...we won't be rushing back.

Absolutely love this place, the food and service is amazing, first visit we were with a party of 18 and the set menu provided was exceptionally good. A second visit and 4 of us sat in the teepee in the garden area, the service was fabulous, so friendly. The food was fantastic yet again with generous sized portions. Will definitely be returning even though it’s not on our doorstep.

Lovely venue with upmarket contemporary styling. Food menu was pricey and what you would expect from Chinese food. The serving staff were polite and very attentive. Food was tasty and well presented. Plates at the end were clean = potions too small. Overall a nice experience but a one off :)

Passed this place loads of times but it's always been closed when we were passing. Read the reviews and went with an open mind. Very disappointing menu with little choice, 4 starters, 2 mains and a side of vegetables. Over £100 and we both left hungry! On a positive the hargow were some of the nicest I've had.

Ate at Teepee and had the Brunch menu. Absolutely fantastic food, everything was delicious from start to finish. Cocktails were amazing. Service was excellent, staff very attentative and checked if we needed the food slowing down / speeding up. Every dish on the menu was so tasty, presentation was beautiful and plentiful, no skimpy Brunch portions here! The squid and prawns were excellent. The Teepee is beautifully designed and decorated and a lovely addition to the restaurant. Hopefully will stay open to be year round venue as would be cosy in winter with fairly lights and heaters. Looking forward to another visit very soon.

Second time I have visited YU Copster Green. My second experience was on Saturday 31st July, two of us went for dinner for a birthday treat and was amazing, great service, great atmosphere, the place is buzzing, great food and lovely cocktails. My partner seems to be a chicken wing connoisseur and he said they were up there with some of the best he’s tried before. Hannah the Restaurant Manager couldn't do enough for us. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion and we will return. Thank you for your hospitality YU.

We had the nye home box tonight, it was exceptional and great fun to cook at home. There was plenty of food and more than enough for two. The starters and the sweet chilli chicken were my personal favourites but it was all excellent. Highly recommended and would definitely do again.

Ordered a Yu to You box to make a banquet at home and was definitely not disappointed. The serves two people generously with 3 starters, a duck course, 3 mains and 2 sides. Starters are Lobster & Prawn Wanton, Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs and Honey coated Bamboo Chicken. The duck course included half a crispy duck, cucumber, spring onion, Hoisin sauce & pancakes. The mains were Champagne Miso Cod, dry aged ribeye in blackbean sauce & Crispy Chilli Chicken with rice & noddles. It all tasted fantastic and it was really well thought out in terms of the cooking you need to do. All the courses cooked together with timings that worked and can easily be done with a domestic hob & oven. Lots of food but no stress!! I’m a passionate cook but even people with a fairly basic skill level would have no trouble with this box. Reliable delivery via DPD. The Champagne Miso Black Cod really stood out to me because I’ve never had anything like that but it was really delicious. The Crispy Chilli chicken came a close second but seriously it was all amazing. I’d definitely recommend.

Extremely disappointed. Rang to order takeaway. All fine. Went to pick up. Waitress walked off before my husband had chance to confirm what we had ordered. Got home no prawn crackers. Rang them and received refund. Opened meal and for price paid it was ridiculous. 16.50 for one measly sea bass fillet. No signs of the spring onions or ginger as described. Rice was extra. Total rip off. Complained and manager promised us a free meal. Rang the following week to order and despite ringing for over an hr the line just rang out then cut off. No message ,nothing. Gave up in the end and ordered Indian from Shajan which was fantastic. Will never use Yu again

We visit You Copster quite regularly and have been back a couple of times since the pandemic. Precautions are observed and we felt quite secure. The food is top quality and services well paced. The prices are OK considering the quality of the dishes and the cocktails are stupendous. A place to see and be seen!

We have visited Yu many many times over the years and have been a couple of times over the COVID period. The restaurant was well spaced and we felt very safe and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or polite! There have been a few obvious changes to adhere to the government guidelines but they haven't spoilt the atmosphere or, most importantly the food!! I was really pleased to see that even when so many placers are working to a reduced menu I could still have the pick of a full menu at Yu!We couldn’t have our usual drinks at the bar, they were instead served at the table, but all our favourites were still available. The food is absolutely delicious as always and prepared fresh to order. Yu is not your average Chinese restaurant, the food is fresh and delicious and not pumped full of MSG that makes you feel hung over but still has all the beautiful flavours. I have read some less than glowing reviews on here but don’t let that put you off…my best guess is they are only after a free meal!! Yu is a superb restaurant with scrumptious food and attentive staff. It is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for!!

There is an option to send the restaurant a message directly however seeing as I sent the following email in August and still haven't received a reply!!!! I am left with no other option other than to share my experience...Unfortunately the following email is not one I would have expected to have had to send after visiting your restaurant. On arrival we wasn't offered a drink at the bar whilst other customers were. Was then moved tables prior to being seated, only to be placed less than one meter from another family when the restaurant was practically empty. In our opinion this does not fall in line with current social distincing guidelines. We requested to move tables only to have to wait half an hour before being served our first drink. We was only informed of the chicken wings containing peanuts as our food was being served. When the chicken wings arrived, To be brutally honest, They were extremely greesy and were lacking in flavour. We informed the waitress of this when asked how the food was and was told that she would inform the chef. However nothing else was said on the matter. Salt and pepper chicken was brought out and waitress didn't know which one contained no nuts.Again had to wait half an hour to be served a second round of drinks having had to ask again as we thought they had forgot about our order. No toilet roll in Bathroom. No desert menu. Had to explain to the waitress that we had already paid £120 for the deposit so then had to wait agian for this to be ammended on the bill. Overall a thourughly underwhelming experience at a Restaurant that has supposedly very high standards. The seemingly compulsory service charge was not at all justified. We do not particularly want to write any negative reviews as we are local to the area and with current circumstances would not want to put off potential customers however should we not get a response we feel that we would need to share our experience. Visited with my wife on a Friday night.Place was busy but not as busy as it has been before the Covid situation. Had to wait a while to be served for our drinks/meal but the food service was very quick.The food overall was very good but I did not like the peaking style ribs. Might just be my opinion but just taste the same as any Chinese takeaway I've been to, expected a little bit more from them. For the price you pay it is not really a place I would go frequently but certainly would consider on a special occasionI was very close to putting this down as a 5 star review but just was not quite there.Would definitely visit again.

Such a disappointment. See have had regular takeaways from the Sharjan over the last few months and for three of us it’s works out c£35 and the food is very good. Wanting a change we tried the Yu takeaway. It was £92 for one of the worst meals we have had. Starters were good (soups and ribs) but two of the mains (Chilli Beef and Monk Fish) were virtually inedible. What a waste of good money. They are so lucky there isn’t another Chinese nearby.

With the current situation the UK faces (with Covid-19) I was apprehensive to start eating out again. I booked a table for me and my family (5 of us in total) for us to eat at our favourite Chinese! I honestly cannot praise YU enough, on their opening weekend I can understand they would be busy (whilst operating at 80% capacity, which was clear to see as the restaurant was well spaced out and felt like a safe environment). We opted for the banquet (all dishes selected by our friendly/attentive waiter - Nick). And wow! It was like he’d been dining with us for years! Every dish was impeccable with a variety of flavours from salt and pepper to Cantonese sauce! A duck course in between and again a great selection of main course dishes that provided us with a great Chinese dining experience allowing us all the flavours they had to offer! If I had to sum it up in one word it would definitely be EXCEPTIONAL! From the quality of food to the service we were provided with.There are very few places we dine at nowadays that make you feel special but YU is definitely one of them! It is a shame we are no longer able to enjoy some of their delicious cocktails at the bar now, however we can understand that they are simply complying with social distancing rules and creating as safe an environment as they can offer. I would definitely recommend YU for a great evening even if you are apprehensive to start dining again! Go to YU!!!

Tried to make a few bookings over the phone . Asked the staff member on the phone if they were applying the Eat out Scheme , this scheme has been advertised nationwide , all over the news etc. These staff have been unable to work for months and had no idea what I was talking about . Working in the industry myself , I refused to make any bookings when the staff had no idea. Couldn’t a staff notice or training been applied ? Huge shame and loss of revenue for YUs

Our third takeaway since Yu back open 🤷🏼‍♀️ Well why not it’s amazing! Great setup for collecting. Can not fault it. We will def phone up again 🤗

I have craved a Yu takeaway for weeks through lockdown so tonight was the night. Well organised system that felt totally safe and delicious food that lived up to expectations. Really happy customer.

We took our parents to Yu at Copster Green as a belated Christmas present. We were all looking forward to it very much as it had changed hands or had a rebrand since our last visit.We found service to be poor. Numerous times the young waiter leant over my Mother to serve me my food and one of the waiters got a wobble on with a tray of drinks and ended up pouring a bottle of beer all over our table which proceeded to wet my pale grey wool coat. (The manager very kindly offered to get it dry cleaned, but we managed to sponge it clean). I asked for bottled diet coke rather than off a post mix and I was asked if I wanted a glass with that?? Erm…. If you don’t mind! Drinks got served without the waiter taking the previous lot of glasses, so we ended up having to move glasses around the table.2 of us ordered Chicken Chow Mein which is lauded on the menu as something rather special; we found it to be mediocre and lacking in taste. Cost £18.15 (incl 10%service charge)A bottle of ‘nothing very special’ Pinot Grigio comes in at just shy of 30 quid when you’ve added the 10% service charge and a mixer bottle of diet coke at £2.80…The biggest bugbear for us though was the lack of experienced waiting staff. Some training is definitely required as to how to actually serve and clear away.We wouldn’t return.

I took a group of people (most of whom had never been to Yu before) on a Thursday evening. Whilst there was plenty of other diners in the restaurant, the service was superb, the food amazing and all topped of with a great atmosphere. It is always a slight concern when booking for a group However everyone loved it and I can’t thank the chef and staff enough,

Visited for a family meal was great food as always live the hot and sour soup! Amazing service would definitely recommend

Visited with the Mrs on the back of reading good reviews and recommendations.The atmosphere is great, very trendy looking and staff very attentive and polite.Krombacher on draft is always welcome, just a shame it doesn’t come in pints.I ordered the ducks liver to start and it was beautiful. Liver cooked perfectly and the sauce was a lovely balance of Chinese flavours.For main I chose the char sui pork. I’ve eaten this dish at a lot of places in the UK and in Asia. This for me was the best I’ve had in the UK. My partner chose the crispy chicken and it was another winning dish.All in all a great meal. Food was spot on, vibe was good and staff great.

We went for a treat on my birthday. Nicely decorated and friendly staff. However, the menu was very limited for vegetarians and the main courses for meat eaters were expensive typically £25 for a fish main course. The food was fresh and well cooked but lacked flavour and my vermicelli dish needed a sauce or some spice to give it some flavour. I don't think we'll be back.

Excellent!!! GO VISIT Don’t be put of by some negative reviews, cause I’m unsure if they are reviewing the right restaurant! Let’s start with the welcome, warm as can be, staff lovely smiles all round and a warm welcome, seated quickly lovely surroundings, staff as attentive as they should be, nothings to much trouble, ordered quickly and food came after a short while, staff apologetic due to the dim sum taking slightly longer due to how it’s cooked, no bother to us better that way I feel, well wow what can we say best Chinese food we have ever eaten, plentiful for us (we had the Chinese New Year menu) we couldn’t finish it all. Staff checked if food was ok on occasions which I like. We both said after the meal that not only was it the best Chinese we had eaten it’s probably the best meal out we have ever had.. crispy duck- amazing Crispy beef- amazing If you haven’t been give it a whirl it’s going to be our go to restaurant! Thanks guys we will be back Ps the cocktails are lush too

Visited with friends last night and we all agreed that it was the best Chinese we had ever had. The food was absolutely beautiful, full of flavour and cooked freshly to perfection. The menu is simple and well priced for the quality that you get. The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated inside and the staff were impeccable. We will definitely be going again and would recommend to anyone looking to go out for a nice meal.

Sent a complaint to the managers over two weeks ago.

We haven’t been here for a few years and so for our Xmas outing with friends we decided to try Yu. Two of us opted for the Xmas menu which was probably good value for money. Great starters, followed by beautiful crispy duck pancakes then 3 main courses with rice for £45. The only negative was the chicken curry which we both rated as similar to cheap chinese takeaway standard. The other meals off the a la carte which were tried were the hot and spicy soup described as delicious, the dim sun, sweet and sour chicken and the chicken curry.

Visited last evening with my wife as part of my 70th birthday celebrations. Really enjoyed the meal which comprised Sesame Toast with Seaweed, Duck Spring Rolls followed by Sea Bass a d Chicken with Green Pepper and Black Bean sauce. Staff polite and attentive. Would recommend

The best Chinese meal ever, all the dishes were delicious and the staff nice and polite. A large U-shaped bar at the front of the restaurant, to enjoy your aperitif.

Restaurant is a 5 minute walk away for us. Good quality food for eat in and takeaway. Well presented. Staff attentive. Always busy at the weekend and especially the bar area. Chicken & sweetcorn soup is one of the best. Chicken wings, scallops brilliant.

Food was good but the portions were small. Tap water cost £3:50 a bottle and tasted awful. Prawn crackers were £3.50 and are normally free elsewhere. Tasteless Asparatus and Broccoli was £7.95. It was a treat for my wife after forty years so I said nothing. I'll pay anything for quality but this was a rip off.

Beautiful restaurant, bucket loads of atmosphere, highly recommended. Not your average Chinese restaurant; contemporary and sophisticated with a first-class delivery on all levels, as good as the best in Manchester. We had a beautiful meal, with excellent service, yes it was a memorable meal, thank you. If you have not been, you must try it!

If you are wanting to keep up with the Joneses, then this is the place to go. If you like to be treated like royalty and eat food that you could buy for a fraction of the price but same standard then this is certainly the restaurant.

The food here is consistently superb. We visit regularly and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.

Up there with one of the best Chinese restaurants in the country and would not be out of place if situated in Mayfair.

Went with friends as a birthday celebration on a Saturday night. The front of house staff was very welcoming and ensured we could have a few drinks at the bar first before sitting down. The cocktails looked incredible but lacked a bit of strength of alcohol (still tasted good). The bartender kindly brought menus over so we could order food whilst we enjoyed our drinks at the bar.

Absolutely love this place, best Chinese I've ever had!! - This was my review last year and the place has become our favourite, however just been for the forth time and the service was so bad we had to leave after 1hr+ nobody had taken our order and nobody about either. we had only managed 2 drinks at the bar and there were tables complaining everywhere, it was clear it was going to be a very painful evening. The food here is usually fabulous and worth the price, but wasn't spending the kind of money we normally do for this kind of service, maybe time to try the Manchester one.

The waiters and waitresses are extremely nice but seem to be walking around looking busy and not keeping an eye on what’s actually going on in the place

Went here on a Thursday evening with my wife for our anniversary. Travelled a long distance and ended up walking out before even being seated.

We booked this as my son wanted to try and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The salt and pepper popcorn kind prawn is the best salt and pepper prawn I have ever tasted. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again.

Had spring rolls. Small and exquisite. Well, small, anyway. What they lacked in size, they made up for in price. Half duck 26 quid. Hmmm. Only a half duck, eh? I get the idea. Pay more - get less. Rice came in small bamboo pots. Nice. Tasty but small. Odd dress by servers. The owner (?) is in jeans, the maitre’d in a full suit, and a girl in waitressy uniform. Dumplings very nice, but small. Lovely crockery. Chips ok , but small portion. Are you getting a theme here? One thing that isn’t small is the price. However, it does attract the in-crowd of Blackburn. Highly cosmeticised orange women in tottering heels and tattoos like stevedores. Bull-necked polo-shirted scrap-metal merchants, builders and plumbers paid cash in hand, who don’t mind paying for a bit of yer classy ambience. Style over substance. Once the chef realised we weren’t going to go for a fifty quid per head buffet, he lost interest in us. Oh well.

We called on a wet windy night ,to be greeted by warm friendly staff .It was a last minute decision to try this place another to tick of the list of places to try.I like the dark décor very modern and the chairs were very comfortable .the menu seemed a little different from the usual . I ordered sweet and sour pork with fried rice and would say that the flavours were up there with the best .a truly memorable meal .The bar was splendid and had an up beat feel about the place .will visit again soon .

Much like the title says, the food itself is excellent, but the service is slow, and disorganised.

Consistently good chinese food that never appears to have an " off night ". Small menu but in many ways that is quite reassuring as restaurants where the menu is pages and pages long, where the variations are simply sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour chicken etc do themselves a disservice. Service is largely good, a young crew who have to cope with very busy times. The crowd is always well dressed. Vinny is a good host but seems to be absent these days, presumably concentrating his efforts in Alderley Edge. A great night out.

My girlfriend and I visited here last Saturday for her birthday and we loved it! We had a cocktails at the bar which were made by the manager Nick who was really friendly and the cocktails he made for us both were really good. One of the best Negronis I’ve ever had!

Came to yu for my boyfriends birthday. I had the char Sui pork with egg fried rice and my boyfriend has the black cod with noddles. Both were well cooked and well presented. The server was attentive and welcoming. Would defiantly return:)

Decided to try after a year or so since last visit. Food v nice but generally overpriced especially the wine & side dishes. £5.95 for a small handful of chips way high. £10 for a large glass of wine is crazy - a bottle would be £7 in a shop. Also the “discretionary service charge” does not wholly go to staff. The main course prices should all include the rice/chips. The alcohol should

We visited Yu & Yu two years ago when it was under the old owners. We had a fantastic experience. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. We visited last Friday to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday. We were a party of 6 adults. When we arrived we were informed that our table was ready. On seating at the table it was only set for 5 people. We were on two tables pushed together and two members of the party had to sit with the table leg in between their legs. We were seated quite a while before a waitress brought 3 menus. We asked if we could order cocktails as no one had been to take a drinks order. We asked if we could have 3 more menus! We finally ordered our cocktails which came in dribs and drabs. We finally only received 5 cocktails so had to order the 6th again. The menus were removed before we ordered food. When the food arrived it was of good quality and we enjoyed it. We had to catch the attention of the staff to order wine. The service did not improve. For the price we paid the service was terrible. Will not be going back and would certainly not recommend the place.

This is our second visit and last time we went last year the service was first class, similar to what you would receive at a Michelin star restaurant. We went on Saturday night and the service was beyond poor. We kept having to wave our arms around to get any service (we were sat in the corner,) when we finished our drinks someone came and took 2 glasses and left the rest on the end of the table whilst we ate. A guy came to clean out table and whilst his head was down whispered 'would you like to see the desert meal.' The staff are very young and this isn't a problem but there wasn't anyone taking charge of what was going on. If you can get the service back to how it was last year we would definitely return but at this moment in time, I think I would go elsewhere!

Food was good but v expensive. Waitress didn’t know what a number of menu items were and we had to wait for the guy in charge to tell us. Also served us beer with glasses full of ice and looked confused when I asked her to empty it out - turns out it was just there to cool the glass. Staff def need some more training

Yu Copster Green (or Yu and Yu as it was) has always been on the “to do” list, after after a day on a course just down the road my fiancée and I decided to take the opportunity.

We visited Yu whilst we were holidaying in the area.

We had a lovely time here and very much enjoyed the food. I have to agree with other reviewers about the service. Although very polite and friendly, we found the service disorganised and slow. Twice one of the waitresses tried to give our food to another table and wandered around with it until pointed in the right direction from a colleague. It was hard to order food initially and then drinks from the table, and once ordered they were very slow to arrive. I’m normally very happy for restaurants to add a service charge, but I really think that if they do, the service should be good.

Nice ambience and pleasant staff - they're just not very good at serving you: judging on our visit, they're all young, quite inexperienced and would benefit from training.

We went here on Saturday night for a friends 40th , when we arrived we were shown to the table which already had menus on the table but no wine list, children menu or any explanation re banquet options. We decided on a banquet and the food can only be described as what you would get at a normal Chinese - nothing amazing. Several drinks orders were not delivered and the waiter on more than occasion only poured 1 person more wine. The real problem came when we tried to pay the bill - it took over half an hour despite asking 2 members of staff - in the end we got up and had to go to the bar to pay. I feel we were left due to having a child with us. Will not be returning

We picked a very busy Mr Yu's as it is now called, it seems it is always like this but our visit was on Christmas Eve, but what a wait for our meal, just a 2 courses meal was nearly 2hrs to serve(that is from us coming in and going out). The meal was of a very high quality, absolutely no complaints but the service.......

Just been for a meal with my partner tonight, first time visiting this place. They weren't serving half the menu and said they had run out with it being christmas. We got only 2 plates out of 6 that we actually wanted. The water we ordered also didn't come to the table we had to ask for it twice. Asked for 3 different dim sum plates before they found one they actually had in and when it came half an hour later they didn't even have any dips for them at all for the side.

Came for my 22nd birthday. Best Chinese I have ever had! Well worth the 40 minute drive. The service was impeccable, nowhere do you get the same amazing service! Best birthday meal ever 😃

Wow! What a fantastic night with friends. Fabulous atmosphere, outstanding service and food to die for. Couldn’t fault the beautiful food. From the scallops to the prawns to the beef fillet via the duck pancakes and culminating in the strawberry samosas...outstanding!

Be very aware when you dine at this restaurant you are being ripped off ! We dined there recently and were charged a service charge automatically - the staff never see this in fact they don’t get paid merely exploited ! Dishes,glasses and cutlery were filthy and prices excessive. Don’t waste your time or money MacDonalds have more integrity !

We booked a table for 19:30 and arrived at 19:15. The bar area seemed to fill up and keep emptying though we where kept waiting for our table until 20:45. Even whilst sat at the bar if was difficult to get a drink.

We were really looking forward to our meal having heard and read so much about the restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant did not live up to our expectations.

We arrived last night with some trepidation not having been for a few years and after reading recent poor reviews however I’m glad to say it was quickly eradicated. We arrived early to have some drinks in the bar and yes, we had to wait a little while to be served but it was 8pm on a busy Saturday night so not unexpected really. Some staff were obviously less experienced than others, but they were all working hard.

Our first visit with a party of 6. Our table was squeezed in the corner and I don’t know if this was the reason for the bad service? We sat for 30 minutes before any body acknowledge us and took our order. We had to continuously ask staff could we have drinks and then they wouldn’t arrive. If we had a quicker service we would have ordered more drinks. The waiting staff are very young & seem very inexperienced. At no point did anybody ask was everything ok. Shame this let down what should have been a good experience

First time visiting this highly recommended restaurant. The place was buzzing and decor/ambience was fantastic. Food was lovely but apart from a couple of guys later on in the evening, the service right from the bar staff to the waiters and the manager was absolutely dire. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. They were lacking in attentiveness, personality and desperately need some customer service training. We literally had to ask for everything twice over. Yes the restaurant is expensive but i don’t mind that when the food and setting is so good however I’d be very reluctant to return based on the disgraceful service. I’ve been treated better in McDonalds! Such a shame..

What an outstanding meal. Started with prawn crackers then had the best crispy squid - so tasty and thick squid. Salt and pepper ribs and prawn toast on crispy seaweed was equally impressive. Mains of duck pancakes and sweet and sour pork with fried rice was to die for. Excellent and attentive service. On the pricey side but top quality food so definitely worth it for a special occasion.

This was first visit to this renowned Chinese Restaurant. I was not disappointed! I attended a Charity event with a guest Chef so needless to say it was an expensive evening. The food and the service was excellent and I definitely hope to visit again

I've been here a few times over the years and it's always been excellent...a real jewel.

Met with some friends. Impressed as we arrived it’s a beautiful setting. We were shown immediately to our table and given a menu. We had to ask someone to take our drinks order. We then chased the drinks several times which didn’t arrive until after our starters. Similar happened twice when we re ordered drinks. The food was excellent but there is something missing in this restaurant. When my husband asked for the bill the waitress just nodded her head at him. She didn’t speak or say “. Certainly Sir I will arrange that for you”. Like I said something is missing. Despite there being a lot of staff there is nothing personal about the place. Nothing that would tempt us to go back. When we complained the drinks were actually taken off the bill, but this didn’t really make up for the overall experience. How you feel about something is really important and even though the food was very good we were not left with a good feeling. Very disappointed really.

Excellant food,but bring your card as not cheap.I think young children would perhaps not be at home here ,but say 7 upwards,yes it is very good

Having last been to Yu around 3 years ago, when we had an excellent meal and experience, my wife and I decided to return to celebrate our birthdays.

Saturday night special treat. We arrived early for cocktails only to be told they’d run out of the correct glasses so we’re served in a tumbler. Then to the table, ordered food and a bottle of wine, which didn’t arrive until we’d already finished the starters despite chasing.

Top class chinese restaurant in a classy location - a lot of staff some quite inexperienced - need an experienced guiding hand? On this occasion all dishes were fine apart from the peking duck which was a little fatty and undercooked and was sliced rather than shredded - a bit heavy to digest!
