The Friary in Ribble Valley

Small portions, hard chips, terrible pudding and very watery curry sauce and to top it all the most expensive chippy I have ever been to, but my mates had fish and said there's was lovely so perhaps I should of had the same.

Think it's quite expensive for what you get sometimes, but the fish is good.

Dreadful meal. Fish was extremely greasy, chips were stone cold, and we only live 5 minutes away. Despite specifically asking for a beef (meat) pie, found we had been given a pork pie. This is not the first time this has happened. It will be the last. Standards hzz as e gone down and down. Won’t be going again. £20 for substandard food

Got my order wrong. Very expensive for what it is. £37 for 1 adult meal and 2 children's meals. Not what I actually asked for either. Very disappointing. Pay attention to what is being ordered next time. Plus they do not accept card payments (we can all guess why that is)

We called in as we had been poorly with flu and felt like something tasty for tea. Ordered salt and pepper chicken strips, spring rolls and seaweed. Chicken was cold &!dry, 3 small spring rolls not nice seaweed ok but have tasted better. Really disappointed in the quality and felt very over priced. Neither of us ate it all and commented we wouldn’t be visiting again. To top it all woke up just after midnight with horrendous tummy pains, I’ll not describe further. Avoid at all costs.

Excellent food from our favourite chip shop. First time trying their Chinese range. Definitely worth the price

Overpriced for the quality but was very good.

55 minutes late from original time and 15 minutes late from revised time

Called in for lunch whilst visiting friends in the area. Has previously been great food but this time I was served the most disgusting steak pudding I have ever been presented with. Filling was pink and the texture resembled dog food. Tasted disgusting. Previously they served Hollands - have they changed supplier???? Will check next to me and shan’t be going back if this proves to be the case 😱

The Chinese food was lovely however the burger was inedible, it was so hard and dry we threw it into the bin

Beef in the chow mein was sour tasting so straight in the bin. Very expensive for what you get. My boys enjoyed the chicken wings but that was the only highlight of the takeaway I'm afraid. Won't be using them again anytime soon.

Chinese side of the menu was over expensive and poor in taste and flavour.

I live in a new building estate so was difficult for the driver to find. Food was piping hot and delicious.

Called in today 15 mins before closing. Asked if i was too late for fish and chips. Told no problem, and l got the best fish I've had in ages. Absolutely banging. A decent sized portion of lightly battered and really fresh flakes of proper tasty fish. Along with a teacake and a coke a proper lunch after a 5 mile hike.

The best chippy in Whalley. Really tasty food cooked to perfection, polite staff and a really welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

The food wasn’t great. The chicken fried rice was over salty and didn’t taste like it was cooked thoroughly. Sorry. Never posted a low rating but can’t not given how much it costs.

I waited 2 hours for my order to arrive. When it did arrive the delivery man said he was outside my house but he wasn’t , I got in touch with the driver and had to give him instructions to get to my house, ive no idea where he went before hand but it wasn’t my house. When the food did arrive 2 hours later it was cold, the sauce had spilt every where. I ordered the mix starter and it wasn’t cheap, the salt and pepper wings were put with the ribs so I ended up with bbq chicken. Very disappointing

Food is usually great. Tried something new in the lemon chicken, however the flavour was so much that we couldn’t eat it. It was incredibly sour, I appreciate its lemon, but that was next level and not edible. Rice and chips were great as usual

Arrived with a massive spider in the box … freaked us out completely!

Absolutely cannot fault this take away. Ordered a few times when our friends visit and they still rave about it. We order the mixed starter for 2 which is enough for 4 people really. Their duck in plum sauce is simply gorgeous. Best for miles around and they deliver to our caravan in Clitheroe too. Fantastic!

waited till the order time . they updated that the food had been delivered but nobody turned up 63 pound I spent for no food to come tryed ringing restaurant and No answer now requesting a refund and waiting

Usually the food is excellent but tonight the Fish Bites were inedible. The batter was really thick and crewy there was hardly any Fish it them.

Decent Fish and Chips - but absolutely ridiculous prices. Will be going to Clitheroe or Read from now on. Honestly can't understand how they can justify the almost constant price rises.

Brilliant fish and chip shop with a wide choice of Chinese food and many other options. Very reasonably priced, freshly cooked, and great service from the friendly team. Can highly recommend the gluten free fish goujons and chips. Will certainly be visiting again.

great food really love getting fish and chips from here and we are repeat customers. As a business we order quite a bit, and always had what i thought was a laugh over the prices, until today when the owner made a point of saying that he had thrown in some free crackers as he is f-ing sick of having what i thought was some banter. rather unprofessional unfortunately lost a few customers from here and we will be going back to Waddington road chippy.

Seemingly number on address had not gone through. Order was left to go cold. After a phone the cold order was delivered by a very rude young lady. We order every other week as my mother is disabled and is a Friday Treat. Will not be ordering again

Need more sauce but over all decent

Salt and pepper chicken breasts very dry, overcooked and tough, ribs very dry and hardly any meat on them, beef garlic and chilli - thick gloopy sauce with slimy meat. I will never order from here again.

Everything tasted like old oil. The ‘chilli sauce’ was revolting. It was all pretty rank… meat overcooked. Bland, old oil taste, everything just tasted so not fresh and the flavour was not nice for me personally. Will not be ordering again.

We had a delivery tonight and the curry sauce was cold, the chicken chow mein was really gloopy and not edible, the beef satay wasn’t nice, the special fried rice with sauce was swimming in sauce! The only nice thing was the Salt and pepper chicken bites these were good.

As a family of 5, 3 of which are coeliac, it’s almost impossible to find a takeaway that does gluten free Chinese. We visited for the first time tonight and it was amazing. Thank you so much :)

I know this is a bold statement but this is by far the best takeaway IV had in the last 10 years ! I would honestly not go anywhere else.. if the business was closed I would rather go without and wait. my first time trying the fiery and I'm blown away by the food and the lovely lady that delivered the food.

Just ordered from The Friary for delivery to Great Harwood, Absolutely fantastic food, singapore chow mein, fried rice, mixed vegetables, ginger and spring onion sauce, sweet and sour sauce and a potion of chips, everything tasted amazing and was piping hot, was the best chinese food we have had in a long time, Restaurant quality.

Absolutely delicious and order arrived a little earlier than expected. Highly recommended, we will definitely be ordering again 👌

Don’t wast your money on overpriced, lukewarm and not very good food. We keep saying we won’t go back but then a few months later we do but not anymore!!

Normally food is so amazing a lovely from The Friary. But unfortunately the last few times it’s seem prices have increased and food quality as dropped. Plus a £6 charge for delivery seem very unreasonable. Genuinely proving you constructive feedback as normally you guys are great.

Once again i didn't listen to my hubby and said they can't mess it up again ,how wrong was i. £17.60 was the cost for chips and gravy,small curry sauce sausage ,fish and gravy, although id ordered Fish and chips(,we only got fish and gravy with a lemon floating round). What i rip off. Last time they forgot the chips , seems to be a regular occurrence when we go. Even got it wrong when we ordered from work.

Seems as though the prices increase each week. 11 pounds for a sweet and sour chicken, add 4 for the fried rice and 17 pounds for a combination starter for 2!!! Food was good but we won't be returning at these prices

Went in for family tea was greeted by rude miserable staff we was charged near £40 for awful overcooked fish couldn’t cut into the awful batter the curry sauce was tasteless and it had spilled all over the bag. The Chicken burger was dry no lettuce or anything for the price and my sons looked like it was thrown in the box. None of it was up to standard for the price we paid !! We were all left hungry will not return here !

Ordered special Chow mein, no onion or peppers received thick soup with meat vegetables odd onion piece. No noodles. Rice was served with spring onions garnish. I'm intolerant to onions

Fabulous chippy that we recently came across and since then we have had fish and chips twice and a Chinese meal also for takeaway and everything has been perfect and piping hot each time . Would highly recommend

To say these were the best tasting fish and chips we’ve ever had is something ! Good quality fish and great size and the chips were so so nice Peas were Lovely also and they stayed piping hot all the way home . They have a huge Chinese food menu also which we will try sometime soon Highly recommend
