Yr Hen Vic in Carmarthenshire

Went here for dinner as the reviews were good ..not sure whats happened but the food was terrible it took a long time to be served we waited nearly an hour and the food was cold when it arrived the ketchup and mayonnaise that came with meal had been watered down so much it made the food it touched inedible the steak was mainly fat and the curry had an odd after taste like that had also been watered down . The staff were friendly but unfortunately i wouldnt go back here again

Went here for a friends wake. Food was very nice, good variety of vegan and vegetarian options

Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch. Best value for money we've had. 9 different vegetables, plenty of meat, roast potatoes etc. Highly recommend 👌. Had prawn cocktail and salmon starter, lamb roast. Friendly, efficient staff. Lush pub. Wish I could go every week.

Food took ages, over 40 minutes

Four of us came for Sunday lunch, it's advertised outside as 'quite nice 'but it is so much better. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Overall, it's a great place. Looking forward to going back.

Excellent selection of food, very tasty and well price

Excellent local pub that we returned to this week having not been in the area for a while. The food really is excellent…someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing. I had the “chicken Vic” whilst my wife had the tuna. Both were restaurant quality. At the same time the kids devoured their burgers and delightful puddings. All served alongside A rotating selection of 3x draft beers plus the usual lagers on tap. There is a room at the back with 2x pool tables and darts to everyone was entertained. We will be back (again!)

Brilliant food, excellent staff, and a great pub. Apparently they do a 'quite nice' Sunday lunch. I'm looking forward to trying one.

Excellent Sunday afternoon lunch with a great choice of Starters And Deserts . I had the Cockles Lava Bread and Bacon. My Wife the soup for Starters followed by the Sunday Roast. With Raspberry Cheesecake and Apple pie with Ice-cream for Desert. Have to say we really enjoyed our visit the staff were friendly and helpful.Looking forward to our Next visit with more of our family . Thanks to All At the Yr Hen Vic.

A popular local with a good atmosphere

This is my local, I'm there every night, so that says it all. I don't eat here but everyone says the food is great. All the regulars are characters so it's fun every night!

Very lovely Sunday lunch at Yr Hen Vic, Llandeilo today- generous portions of tasty turkey, pork beef and lamb choices with a range of vegetables and very reasonably priced- it was full too. Polite efficient service- always value for money here- no frills- just good Welsh cooking.

This has become a firm favourite with our group of friends . Food never fails to satisfy and impress . Lovely atmosphere and warm welcome . Staff are very pleasant and helpful . Food portions are large , do not skimp on good quality ingredients . The menu has something for everyone . Can’t wait to return

Very disappointing! We came for Sunday dinner. The pork was like dry and chewy, tiny bit of stuffing, yorkshire pudding was burnt, the sprouts were frozen not fresh, the mint sauce was a joke, like water! The vegetables that we had to share was only enough for one portion. They are so mean with their portion size, considering how much they charge us! They certainly make a profit there! Food wasn't the best, my teenage son could make better than that! The bleached haired middle aged woman was a miserable old moo who lacks customer service skills. We won't be returning!

Returned when completing Heart of Wales trail walk. They remembered us, welcomed us and the meal set us up royally for walking the hills the next day. Wonderful! Thank you Hen Vic. Thoroughly recommend!!!

Gorgeous food, Deserts were delicious, Well decorated too! Had something very simple though (cheesey chips and ham) And homemade chips were yummy!! Ham was good too, Waffle and icecream was best of all, Affordable price one thing was that the actual pub is a little run down an quiet but still lovely food!! will be coming back super dog friendly too:)

Good local pub, friendly atmosphere, reasonably priced and wide range of food that was very tasty. Decent pint and a few screens to watch sports.

An okay place. I ate the fish pie. It was mediocre. However, the food and drink was affordable. The menus could be clearer. I came across three different boards with three different menus. One board was titled vegan but had no vegan food. It was a bit strange.

Food was superb could not fault it. Sea Bass probably the best I have had. Would highly recommend there is something for everyone. The lady who served us was fantastic too.

Ventured into this establishment in search of a traditional Sunday lunch, choice of turkey, beef, lamb,or pork. Having chosen the lamb, I must admit it was one of the better Sunday lunches I have eaten out, lamb roast perfectly cooked, with a selection of 6 vegetables as well as a scoop of mashed potato,a roast potato and some cauliflower cheese and plenty of gravy. Others had the turkey and were equally as impressed. One course £8, two course £11, I don’t recall how much the three course was, possibly £15? Well worth the money. The normal menu was up on the blackboard too, and looked quite inviting, Will probably return to try their ‘rest of the week fare’, good quality meal, enjoyable visit. The bar is well stocked with a selection of beers, soft drinks and spirits.

Arrived and asked if food available told yes so ordered a bottle of wine and waited at the table for someone to take order, 15 min later after asking if order would be taken twice still waiting then we were told only one chef and several table's still waiting to take order we decided enough was enough. Paid for wine £19 .50 ( WOULD NOT HAVE ORDERED WINE IF TOLD OF LONG DELAY EARLIER) SO went to the white Hart Inn .

We were only going to eat there one night and then try another, but the Friday meal was outstanding value and the folks really accommodating so we went back for seconds on Saturday. Solid pub grub, unbelievable value and excellent service. The bog standard wine was even good.

I had the gammon here with friends on a midweek evening and it was a decent enough meal. Sticky toffee pud was ok too. Just glad to find somewhere open and serving food. Outside could do with a tidy and repaint but nice pub in central location with good real ale selection.

Absolutely fab ‘proper’ pub. Clearly a locals place but the staff and patrons were all really friendly and welcoming. Jukebox, pool table, vegan options on the menu. What’s not to like?

Catered for our party of 12 at short notice, . A wonderful Sunday roast, with a choice of meats, plenty of veg, with apple and cherry crumble for dessert. Highly recommended.

First time at "Yr hen Vic " this evening,and so glad that we did . Fantastic welcome ,especially to my 5 yr old son . It's a pub for everyone , a nice chatty bar area or a quite more intimate dining area , or a well equipped games room with juke box . As well as a restaurant. Our food was delicious, prices were great . Will definitely return soon .

So good we went twice in 24 hours! Amazing service, delicious food - we also ate elsewhere locally but this was the best. Don't miss the roasts, pepper chicken, chicken vic and wonderful puddings. Couldn't recommend more.

Great pub doing a very food British menu. Great variety at reasonable prices. The quality of food for a small pub is amazing. This place is great, it's the local football club pub, its got a couple of cracking pool tables in the back room. It's got the sports, plenty of room and Great priced drinks. ....but let's go back to the food... wow. Will definitely be going back. Again and again...

Really impressed with the vegan menu choices, price and quality of food. I had the dirty burger and my boyfriend had the "chicken" with asparagus and garlic sauce. We both cleared our plates and would definitely visit again. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Thank you :-)

Amazing!! It is very rare that a pub makes and cooks their own food. Hand cooked chips, amazing value, friendly staff who "bother" to make a difference and all meals including steak, pork and two vegan meals were spot on. Thank you for what you do, you are different to the masses and that's why we travelled 30 miles to celebrate my 50th and my mum's 80th birthday's!!!!

Amazingly friendly pub. Made us feel so welcome. Our dog was treated as their special guest, he was given treats and a bowl of water without us asking for anything. The food was absolutely stunning, real attention to detail, only complaint is that we couldn't eat it all! Fantastic value for money. Can't rate highly enough! Fantastic pub food. My rump steak was tender and cooked perfectly to my medium rare preference... Very well presented food with plenty of salad veg and chips, you won't leave the table feeling hungry! Good selection of real ales. Landlady and staff very pleasant. Generally a great Llandeilo pub.F ood highly recommended.

We travelled around Wales for two weeks and stood in Llandeilo for 1 night. So lucky to find so nice place. The staff was very welcome and friendly, food was absolutely delicious. Can't wish anything else. Highly recommended!

Such a lovely experience here - really friendly and welcoming, and great food with huge portions! The chicken, bacon and leek pie came with a massive amount of peas and chips, gorgeous buttery pastry and generous amounts of meat in the filling, just what I needed... Really appreciated some suggestions on where to walk and explore nearby as well, staff were very kind and thoughtful to talk to us about where we could get to without a car. Definitely a great choice to pop in to for dinner (not open every day, and not for lunch so check the opening hours!) and bring your appetite!

A great little find. Recommended to us by a lady in a nearby convenience store. Needs a bit of updating and tlc, however, staff friendly and food tasty and good portions. A good menu board to choose from. Would recommend and visit again.

What a wonderful pub! The food is great value and generously portioned. Proper home-cooked pub grub. I had a chicken bacon and leek pie and it was incredibly tasty. They have a great selection of beers on, too. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. They accepted a booking, although it was quiet enough that we didn’t need to. The main bar has a TV for sports but the restaurant is off to the side, so a bit quieter.

Great place, staff and owner/s are fantastic. Food is very good, large portions and pub prices. Would/will call again. Had sanitiser at bar/toilets and at the main entrance. Social distances are well maintained so be sure you can eat in safety. Good selection of local beers and also a very good top shelf of shorts. Ok it's kind of a back street pub, but I always find places like this are often overlooked and should be explored like the surrounding countryside!. So go explore this fantastic pub/restaurant the locals are fantastic and very friendly and good to talk to about local places of interest and also places to eat and drink.

The update to the interior is a welcome one modernising the pub nicely.

Shocking, absolutely awful. We pre-booked and travelled from some distance, to arrive and be told they had sold a lot of takeaway, and no Sunday dinner available. Poor attitude by staff, really didn’t care. Don’t recommend. Terrible.

Home-made, simple and genuine food.

We didn't eat there so can'r comment on food, but the customer service when they had forgotten a booking for 11 people for my friend's birthday was absolutely atrocious. No apology was given by bar staff or manager, no concern or care that the occasion...

Do not be out off by it's outward appearance although the pub itself has a rather basic decor the lady behind the bas and other customers were friendly. The food is listed on boards on the wall and we both chose venison pie which was...

Lovely place to have a drink and a meal. The food smelt delicious, but it's a little costly for the food, but it's worth the money of what you get.
