One word - disappointment, totally boring hotel, never more. The rooms are in the in underground. We had premium room - we did check in straight in the hotel, no in reception, they have automats (after check in you dont get mail or message, where is your room, only number). You dont give any instructions - where are breakfast, whats time is the breakfast. In reception isnt, where you have room - crazy, that you must go to the underground, probably. Find it, if you want sleep behind pay 🥴. Rooms are small, without fridge and you can't open the door. Breakfast - chaotic, small place, small choose. Always full, you must have lucky, if you want sit there. We took breakfast to the bar. Breakfast is boring behind this price, really totally nothing. Toast, dry scrambles eggs, sausege, hashbrown, bacon, yoghurt and endless queue to the coffee. I would like comeback to the Edinburgh, but not this hotel. Absurdly expensive, but one advantage - close from the centrum. Never more

Rooms are very small, lights light up the entire room, no separate lights for the restrooms so if you need to go to the restroom in the middle of the night it is very hard to go without waking up your spouse or whoever you are traveling with. The shower for us also leaked pretty badly when showering which meant the floor outside was very wet all the time. Very little seating for breakfast which meant there was constantly a line waiting to be seated to eat which was rather annoying. Overall a rather average hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very modern and designer room, very clean. However, big disappointment with the breakfast, no eggs which is a shame for an English breakfast, very little or no fresh fruit, and warm orange juice and not good, therefore does not reflect a 4 star hotel

Rooms are small but clean, no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms is disappointing. Probably the most annoying thing is ‘Mission Control’ which is actually reception. Not knowing this cost us a considerable amount in parking costs which we pre booked rather than going to Mission Control and getting a discount coupon. Staff were apologetic but unable to assist as it was too late given we had pre paid parking. For the benefit of those who have not stayed with you before, put reception in brackets after Mission Control. Given the costly mistake, it certainly left a bad taste.

Great hotel, excellent service, amazing location! The room might be smaller than usual, but the bed is super comfortable and the everytihg is well cared for. The "cabin crew" is young and always willing to help! Definitely a plus! A lot of variety on the breakfast options and if you would rather eat out, the hotel is surrounded by restaurants or simply take a 15 min walk or 5 min ride to Royal Mile. Definitely would recommend!

Check in was easy and we found our room in good time as with some hotels it can be a maze to figure out where you need to go. Whilst the view from the room wasn’t that exciting, we weren’t spending long in the room anyway as we were out for most of the days. The bed was clean + comfortable- appreciated that you could make it sit up so you can watch TV. Also the lighting that you could change colour was a fun feature. Layout of the room was a little unusual. For some reason the towel rack was in the toilet which didn’t seem hygienic to me so we moved the towels to the top storage space in the wardrobes. The shower did leak water after use, so the bath mat was being utilised for soaking this up. Also there was no tea/coffee in the room- this could actually be found in the bar area downstairs which if you are on a higher floor, you can’t really carry cups of hot drinks to your room without a potential accident happening. The air con was annoying. Even if you turned it off, it would switch itself back on and at a colder temperature. We tried everything to set it to what we wanted, but it always seemed to be reset after a while. The space under the bed was helpful for storing suitcases so for two people, we had plenty of room + the fridge was also useful for drinks to stay cold. It was good to know that if you didn’t want your room cleaned, you could put on the specific door sign and then collect a voucher for some money off in the bar. We did experience being disturbed once by someone who kept trying to open our door. Whether this was another guest thinking our room was theirs, it was a little worrying that they kept trying for at least 10 mins (thankfully the lock and door sign was on) Location was great. It was quiet and easy to get to, not taking long to get to key hotspots in the city. I would stay here again.

The worst hotel I've stayed in! Felt like an asylum all white, sterilized and plain. Couldn't figure out how to turn off the bathroom light and had to pull a curtain that divided the bedroom from the bathroom. Then while I was asleep, the lights would suddenly turn on every time I tossed in my sleep, waking me up and scaring the living st out of me! In the morning I waited 15min to be seated while there were available tables but dirty, so I just decided to bypass the welcome desk and sit at a dirty one after all as the kitchen was soon closing and the food was going to be taken off the buffet counters.

Unacceptable Experience – I Want a Refund I booked a stay at YOTEL Edinburgh expecting a restful night after a long, demanding day at Parliament. What I got was the complete opposite — and frankly, it was unacceptable. The moment I arrived, I was hit with the overpowering stench of fresh paint throughout the corridor and in my room. I suffer from migraines, and strong smells like this are a major trigger. No warning was given, and the discomfort was immediate. I barely slept. From the early hours, I was bombarded with noise from workmen right outside my room — music blaring, doors slamming, shouting, singing, and the constant use of power tools. It felt like trying to sleep in the middle of a construction site. I asked to be moved from the basement level, only to be relocated to another room where workmen were, once again, active right outside. At no point was I informed that there would be any maintenance or building work during my stay. No apology. No acknowledgment. No effort to make it right. The lack of communication and basic consideration for guests is shocking. This is not what I paid for, and it’s not what any guest should be subjected to. I am requesting a full refund for my stay and expect this to be addressed immediately. YOTEL should not be taking bookings if they cannot provide a quiet, safe and comfortable environment!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and we really liked it, it was a pretty good price for us. They clean the room every day and the rooms are clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was quite good, Scottish breakfast (bacon, egg, sausages, fried fish, savory crepes), fruit, pastries, juices, coffee, yogurts, etc. for a very reasonable price compared to other places. The staff in general is friendly, especially the Spanish girl. We had a problem at the airport with our luggage and they helped us a lot. It has good facilities (bar with lounge, gym, etc.). They will store your suitcase if you arrive before check-in time and if you need to leave them after check-out. Overall a very good value for money. The only bad thing to comment is that our room was a Premium king with a bed of approximately 1.80 but there were 2 mattresses joined together. It is true that it was barely noticeable and it was very comfortable. The plugs are not European but UK but we asked for a converter and they gave us one without a problem. There is also a 115V and a 230V European plug in the bathroom. We will return to hotels of this chain.

Stayed here for a night with my daughters as my family were over from Canada. Overall we had a great experience. The hotel is in a fantastic location. Away from the noise of Princes Street but close enough to walk to most things in reasonable times. Rooms were very good. Very clean and had everything we needed. The check in process was simple. There is a self service check in/out which I used. Everything was easy. I didn't have any interaction with the reception staff (to be honest, I didn't have any need to) but the staff in the bar were great. All in all, a great choice for a stay in Edinburgh. We were meant to be in Edinburgh this weekend but due to the storm we weren't able to travel. This hotel was clean (so was my room) and in a great location. I liked that I could earn credits for a free drink if I didn't get my room serviced. The biggest problems were that the air con in my room wouldn't change temperature and would turn itself on every few hours. When I asked reception how to stop this they said that they would put it on the list to be over ridden at 2 am and stay turned off. This didn't happen and it continued to switch itself on. There were no light switches by my bed to turn the main room lights off which most hotels have. The staff were indifferent and really seemed like they didn't want to be there. Every morning at breakfast there was at least two or three staff members stood chatting as you walked in. The reception staff weren't particularly happy and the bar staff (except one) didn't seem to care much. Overall it was clean and good to get to Princess Street but I'm not rushing to book a Yotel anywhere else.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's in central Edinburgh, close to most tourist attractions and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable, and most amenities and toiletries were provided (hair dryer, iron, toiletries). The downside was the fridge as it doesn't cool the food properly, risking spoiling. There's a coffee machine in the cafe and guests can use it freely. The communal area is quiet and suitable for business travelers. The food was good but the menu was very limited in meal options. Pros: - Clean - Air conditioning - Chrome cast - Good shower - Comfortable bed - Good WiFi - Iron in the room - Blackout blinds Cons: - Air conditioning / lights are connected to a motion sensor and go off after 30 minutes day or night - Air conditioning comes back on with lights when motion is detected whether you have previously turned it off or not - There is no separate light for the toilet you have to turn all lights on! - The room layout is bizarre. I don’t think whoever design it has ever stayed in a hotel. The sink is in the room and the shower opens in to the room. It’s fine if you are on your own but if there are two of you, particularly if it’s just a friend, it’s not suitable at all. You have to step out of the shower in to the room to dry off then brush your teeth, shave whatever at the sink in the room in full view of whoever else is in the room. I thought maybe I could use the shower door as a privacy screen, but as you step out of the shower the sink and big mirror are directly opposite so whoever is in the room has the full view of you in the mirror. Conclusion: It’s a real shame about the bizarre layout because other than that it’s a good place, but it’s a total deal breaker. It could be easily fixed with a curtain, but until that time I won’t be back. Oh and the corridors / carpet are like the Shining!

It's difficult to write a review for this hotel because I had two completely different experiences. I stayed for four nights. When I arrived, the check-in was not very positive due to the rude staff, and upon entering the room I found the bathroom dirty with feces and it was disgusting. I thought, 'Well, these things can happen.' Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep that night because the room was located across from a service door that woke me up every time it closed. It felt like the beginning of a nightmare. The next day, I requested a room change, and in this case, the staff was excellent. I checked out and later that evening did a new check-in (with very excellent staff). This time, the room was clean, and I slept wonderfully... thank goodness! In the end, it was an experience that started poorly but ended very well.

I went to Edinburgh from London between June 15-19 for a short holiday and chose Yotel Edinburgh for accommodation. I selected this hotel because the reviews were very good. 1. The room I stayed in was extremely small. 2. The bathroom and toilet were also very small and separate. 3. There was no sink for washing hands in the toilet; the washbasin was inside the room. After using the toilet, you have to go into the room to wash your hands and brush your teeth. 4. When I took a shower, water leaked excessively into the room under the bathroom door, causing a large puddle. I reported this issue to the reception, but they did nothing to fix it. Among the hotels I have stayed in so far, this one has been the most unsatisfactory and least accommodating. I paid about 1000 pounds for 4 days, which is quite a lot of money, and the service did not meet my expectations at all.

A very modern style hotel. The room is perfect for 2 people and designed well for the size and very clean. Our room was in the basement so naturally not much of a view but still has natural light. Check in and check out was efficient with friendly staff. Free coffee and tea in the modern bar which you can take to the room. Option to hire an umbrella for £2 for 48hrs is a nice touch. We opted out of their breakfast at £12.50 per person as loads of breakfast places around it. Good hotel and not badly priced.

Disappointing hotel. Rooms are small and quite outdated, bedside lamps used bulbs that got very hot and you had to turn them on next to the bulb, and were a bit rusty. Some rooms don't have windows! Breakfast was overcrowded, often with a long queue and things often ran out and weren't topped up.

A one-night stay here cost a little over half the cost of a one-night stay at our previous hotel in Stirling (albeit the Stirling stay included breakfast and this didn’t) and the experience at Yotel was far superior. The rooms aren’t huge and it’s definitely different to have a shower cubicle and toilet cubicle that open out directly onto the room, but as a couple very familiar with one another, this didn’t present any issue for us. The shower itself was great, with both a rain and a handheld head. I was impressed with the amount of ‘counter’ space for putting personal items in both the sleeping area and the bathroom area. I love that the beds can be adjusted to save space and to make watching TV more comfortable. I was pleased to find a fully portable hairdryer, luggage rack, fridge, toiletries, USB sockets and mirrors near to natural light sources in the room, as not hotels seem to find this standard these days. Our only real gripe was to do with the lift. We were on the 6th floor in room 01, right next to the lift and it made a strange noise when used, which we could hear through the wall throughout the night. I get the impression this is something that’s gone wrong rather than a standard noise, and it needs tacking ASAP as it did disturb us. I do have some small suggestions for improvement when the hotel is looking to maintain rooms: • Consider moving the towel heater out of the toilet cubicle. I found it strange to have clean towels hanging directly above the toilet. • Replace ‘push to operate’ hairdryers with standard models. Drying my waist-length hair with this gave me cramp in my hands and isn’t very disability-friendly. • For rooms where the window is in the bathoom area, add a translucent window covering to create privacy option for people stepping out of the shower, while allowing light into the room • Isolate the bathroom light controls, so these can be turned on independently of others • Fit improved light shielding around door, to prevent light leaking in from corridor

Hotel well located 10' walk from public transport (tram, bus) and 15', 30' from the main tourist sites. King room quite comfortable, especially the bed, storage space a little limited, satisfactory cleaning. Quantitatively and qualitatively satisfactory sweet/salty breakfast. Friendly staff overall, limited to the essentials. The one at the bar is cool!! and the service suffers, the tables are insufficiently cleared and cleaned, it's regrettable especially when we see, fortunately not all the time, that they are there doing nothing. This establishment mainly welcomes a rather young clientele and on weekends in particular, the nights can be alcoholic and therefore noisy if you are unlucky like us...

Nice location at the hotel. Friendly staff. The breakfast is expensive for what you get and the dining room is undersized. A bit like a school canteen. Instead, go out and have breakfast in town. There are many places to choose from. The room is so hyper-modern and futuristic that it doesn't work. The worst was the toilet part where the door does not shut out noise and smell. 🤢The shower door cannot be closed so water spills out onto the floor. The sink is planned open in the room. You still want a little privacy in the toilet/bathroom. In addition, a toilet brush was missing. Not so nice The cleaning was ok. The room lacked a desk and chair. There was a hopeless pouf, but it could hardly be sat on. We had a good stay but will not return because of the room.

The room was huge. Good water pressure in the shower. Although I asked them to clean the 3 days I stayed, they did not do it well. I left a tiny piece of toilet paper in the bathroom and when I came back it was still in the same place...I feel like they just emptied the trash can and made the bed. The bed was comfortable and reclined, which I thought was original. I also liked the lighting system. My view was ugly, of an internal courtyard. The complimentary coffee and tea was good. I practically did not interact with any member of the staff, since I did the check in/out on my own.

A great chain of hotels that we have had the pleasure of staying in, both in Edinburgh and last year in Amsterdam. The Edinburgh location is by far the biggest with a large bar and function room. The rooms are exactly what you need with a large bed and ample amenities within the room. The location is ideal too. Only 15 minutes from The Royal Mile and ideally situated to easily reach all of the local tourist attractions.

Rooms very neat and clean. You have to check in and out yourself using an iPad. Unfortunately, it never works without the help of the employees. When I asked the employee for help she snapped at me. The friendliness of the staff leaves a lot to be desired...

Terrible nights… is it an hotel or a night club? Nights were terribly noisy (music, drill, screams). I was forced to call the reception but that did not really stop. Hotel is well located but don’t go there if you want to rest! I shared my experience during the check out but they only apologise with no compensation offering.

Windows do not open so you have to withstand air conditioning fan all night which is noisy. The air pumped out also feels suffocating and drying on the throat. Most uncomfortable. I asked for a nice view and got a view of the heating units. Most disappointing as I am stuck here for another 2 nights.

Pros: 1) Easy check-in and check-out process. 2) Spacious rooms with a comfortable, height-adjustable bed and plenty of pillows. 3) The rooms have a fridge, television, and plenty of power and USB outlets. There are two personal, movable lamps on each side of the bed that can be turned on to read whilst the main room lights are off. 4) The rooms and overall facility are clean and presentable. 5) The location is excellent, being less than a 30-minute walk away from Victoria Street, High Street / the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, Mary King's Close, and Edinburgh castle. There are innumerable excellent places to eat nearby, as well. Cons: 1) The shower stall has no ventilation, so it becomes uncomfortably hot and hard to breathe quite quickly. 2) Check-in isn't until 3pm (I know this is common, but it's still inconvenient). 3) The beds are very noisy. The entire hotel will know it when you roll over in the middle of the night.

We eat lunch here on a Saturday, we eat outside. There was nothing special, it catered for tourists so the staff weren't out to impress and the food was mediocre but the beer was good hence the 3 stars.

After being their honest costumer for over a year, I have been really enjoying such a nice place for piping hot night food~ I personally favor their chicken pakora and mix doner series( kebab and wraps). the wraps are freshly handmade from dough and so do the pizzas. They get a huge portion of doner in every dish. Really friendly staff and they even remember me with warm greetings! The shop has a quite stylish collection of notes from massive countries which is fascinating, as I can find my own country’s stuff up the wall, also with some crazzz stuff like 500 million zimbabwe dollars notes which worth less than a penny(LOL). Overall, 10 out of 10! سلام
