Ying Wah in Croydon

Do not judge a book by its cover! Absolutely fantastic proper authentic Chinese full of flavour & very large portions! Pricing is too low for the Quality! I’ve been to plenty of high end Chinese restaurants & honestly this compares ! A little gem of a takeaway

A very cheap but good quality family run local business which I’m proud to support.

Just visited during my break for a quick special fried rice and was shocked it only cost £3.20 for a large one! To my surprise it was really good, full of meat and very tasty. I will definitely visit again, thank you! UPDATE I popped in again and tried the King prawns with mushrooms only £4.20 and fantastic really tasty prawns, wish this place was close to where I live!

At first glance this takeway appeared very clean and the woman serving was polite and friendly. Once we started eating the food however we found that it was very bland and tasteless. The chicken balls were overdone on the outside and underdone on the inside. The crispy rolls had a strange taste as if the vegetables weren't fresh. The ribs had no flavour and the crispy aromatic duck was neither crispy or fragrant. There was also nothing special about the chefs special noodles or chop suey. The owners were not happy when we brought the food back and politely asked for a refund. They said they had never had any complaints in the 28 years since they had been running the business. They reluctantly partially refunded us if we promised not to come back! We reassured them that there was no chance of that!

Stale tasteless food, I called back to say the chicken balls were not cooked and raw inside, the woman said the oil must have been too hot. when asked for refund they said £17 after we spent £28. The Chinese husband took my photo so I video recorded the food and them. They called the Indian shop keeper from next door which was obvious to me he was not a customer, he offered to top up the refund to £20. He also told the Chinese man off for taking my photo. Consisering they have been in the country over 30 years they should speak English. Awful food which has left us all feeling very sick. BEWARE

I have to give 5 star I eat here alot food is always good delivery too cheap price huge serving does last me two days for 13 pound I won't eat anyway else now lovely owners nice kind and always polite

Excellent and tasty food for cheap price. Clean shop too. Lady is very friendly and helpful. Recommend highly. Try the battered squids with green chilli and onions. Delicious 😋

Went there for lunch, lovely. Went shortly afterwards for dinner and would not go again. Rice smelt terrible I could not take a single bite. Noodles smelt better but tasted awful.

Shocking customer service!! Due to poor quality of packaging hand is burnt will avoid at all costs. Attempted to call and complain and not one memener or staff understood what I was saying. Health and safety risk

I moved almost next door to "Ying wah" about three weeks ago and due to the cooker, fridge, as well as heating and hot water not working, we decided to pop into the restaurant for our dinner, we were so surprised at the food portions, never had bigger and we eat Chinese take away quite a lot, the taste of the food is amazing, the price is phenomenal, but most of all, the lady and gentleman who work here are very very kind, polite and always greet me with a smile, what more could you ask for, a wonderful gem of a take away, I'm loving living here, even without the heating, hot water, cooker and fridge freezer problems 😁

Sólo he estado en Wah para el almuerzo y Ying siempre ha sido bastante buena. Por 3 libras. 80 tienen un impresionante menú almuerzo con un plato de arroz y fideos o. Carne y champiñones con fideos es mi costumbre. Las porciones son muy generosas y a diferencia de muchos otros sitios de comida para llevar, no escatiman en la carne y con un montón de champiñones.Hoy encargué crackers de gambas (no son gratis) para un extra de £1. 20. Yo no sabía que ellos - como no están ordenados muy a menudo y había estado allí por un tiempo. Compré mi dieta Coca Cola desde la puerta de prensa siguiente.Nunca he sido capaz de llegar al restaurante por teléfono para pedir comida porque nadie jamás respuestas, entonces tengo que ir andando. Este no es un gran problema para mí, ya que estás cerca de super y cocinar todo en unos 7 minutos, pero también he ido a durante su almuerzo - 2 horas (12:00) y lo encontramos cerrado. Es una pequeña operación familiar y supongo que con sólo un marido/mujer que maneja el equipo de mostrar si hay enfermos o que necesitan hacer algo más durante las horas de trabajo, el restaurante estancias clausuradas por el día. Sé que todo esto suena mal, pero sinceramente, por el precio, raciones, y la calidad general de la almuerzo especial merece la pena vuelve en cada ahora y otra vez.

I've only ever been to Ying Wah for lunch and it's always been pretty good. For £3.80 they have an impressive lunch menu with an entrée and either noodles or rice. Beef and mushrooms with noodles is my usual. The portions are really generous and unlike a lot of other takeaways, they don't skimp on the beef and round it out with a ton of mushrooms. Today I also ordered prawn crackers (they aren't given for free) for an extra £1.20. I won't get them again—it tasted like they aren't ordered very often and had been there for a while. I bought my Diet Coke from the newsagent next door. I've never been able to reach the restaurant by phone to order lunch because nobody ever answers, so I have to walk there. This isn’t a big deal for me since they're super close and cook everything in about 7-minutes, but I have also gone around during their lunch hours (12-2pm) and found it closed. It's a small family operation and I assume with only a husband/wife team running the show, if one is sick or they need to do something else during business hours, the restaurant stays shuttered for the day. I know this all sounds bad, but honestly, for the price, portions, and overall quality of the lunch special it's worth popping in every now and again.
