Came here for several dinners as I was attending an event at exCel which is just down the street. I wasn't sure what to expect but the food here was really good, very authentic, nice big portions, you really get bang for your buck, and not at the ridiculous prices in Chinatown. The service here is also a lot friendlier than downtown and the food arrived quickly. The roast duck was the crispest I've ever tasted.

Good traditional menu. Loads of Chinese clientele come here to eat so that's a positive sign. Good food. Good service and lovely view of the river. As a first timer visiting, the restaurant was a bit difficult to find.

The food in this place is forever the best but to get a table is forever chaotic and the service is forever the worst. We waited 35 minutes for two on Saturday lunch but four people know the staff in the restaurant went straight in and took a table for six. The food arrived in good time but after we wanted to add on extra item, the waitress was reluctant and told us it will take long time, so we decided to forget it and leave, but the item has been added onto the bill. High service charge added automatically while there was not much service at all. Overall, enjoy nice dim sum but need to put up with the bad atmosphere.

One of the best place for dim sum in East London, with a spectacular view of the runway of London city airport. Great variety of dim sum selection, and the congee is really nice as well. Long queue soon after open in the weekend.

I think it’s one of the best Chinese food places in London. Food is delicious and staff are friendly.

The wait for a table was very long. They didn't have any order to who was next in line for a table so there was some confusion. Food was nice and fresh. The service wasn't great and there is a service charge added to the bill at the end. The atmosphere was very noisy, so if you are looking for a quiet meal then this is not the place.

You are forced to pay an expensive service charge and not warned it’s mandatory.

It was little hard to find the entrance since I am visiting. The extract is located in the parking between the restaurant and Moxy hotel (not the water front side). The service was excellent, good variety of options including set course meal. I highly recommend ordering variety of dishes and not go for the set course. Everything I ordered was excellent and recommend this restaurant.

The service was absolutely horrendous! I'm Chinese, from NYC, I'm used to Chinese restaurant's service. I know high turnover is important, but that shouldn't mean that you have to be god awful to your customers! Yiban is one of the worst - the hostess there on the weekend, who takes puts you on the waiting list is probably the meanest person I've ever have to deal with. I just got my placenumber, I was just about to put it away so I don't lose this precious piece of paper. I'm carrying my son, who is a toddler and have a big bag on me, not her fault, but I needed more than 5 seconds to put things away. She literally said to me within seconds of handing me the piece of paper, you are in the way can you move? I said, give me a few secs, I just want to put my number for my place away before my toddler chews it up. She just shakes her head and continued to ask me to move! I'm absolutely horrified. The time before that, I just had the waitress slamming our drinks down, complaining to US that we ordered the wrong lemonade! We specifically pointed in the menu! She literally grabbed the menu out of our hands, didn't even look at what we ordered. Seriously! There is no point of being awful. China Palace is around the corner.

Still a great dining experience at Yi-ban. It's our 3rd visit and we'll be back again! Returned to our favourite place for daughter's birthday lunch. Food was delicious as usual 🙂

Had been visiting Yi-Ban for DimSum lunches and wedding banquets but first time for evening dinner. We were given a table with spectacular water front view and even though the evening was extremely busy, we had never felt being neglected and the dishes we ordered arrived in good timing. All the staffs were friendly and attentive whilst the food was well prepared and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening at Yi-Ban. Definitely a good place to enjoy an evening out with friends and family.

We booked for a table of 10 people for Saturday brunch to yum cha. We order two plate dishes of ho fun, which wasn’t as nice. Maybe we should have just stuck to dim sum only. We loved the dim sum, reminds us of the dim sum restaurant we used to go to near Leicester Square. The lo mai gai was a bit sweeter than I expected, but it was still good. Parking was convenient. The place was very busy with a queue at the door throughout the time we were there. The only down side was that once the sun starting shining in, it got very hot in the restaurant, especially as we were sitting next to the window. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable experience.

We had a very large party with extra guests which the restaurant were very accommodating of despite being absolutely packed. We had a gorgeous set menu meal, definitely enough to fill your boots! Would come back again for the amazing food, service and ambiance overlooking the docks.

All the are bothered about is taking your money! Avoid at all costs! After advising one of the party has a food allergy the waitress was more interested in looking around the room than actually listening when taking an order. After waiting 45min for 1st part of the meal to arrive after tables arrive after food arrived first. The allergy food came out with the sauce on which would have resulted in a hospital visit, when sent back it came out raw and severely raw fish, when reproduced it had been microwaved and reproduced. 3 quarters of the meal had been sat on the table for 20min now cold, one of the mains where completely missing 30min later when chased 3 times they then proceeded to send 3 members of staff to the table to take all of the food off the table in fear that the bill wouldn’t be paid. When we asked for an apology the staff laughed in our face. I have never been more embarrassed in my life. The snatched the forks out of peoples hands! If you want undercooked food, horrific customer service and staff to laugh in your face it’s the restaurant for you.

Visited last night and had a great time. Restaurant was packed at 7:30 pm but the service was very efficient. Food was excellent, whatever we ordered was served quickly and tasted delicious. Good portion size and very very reasonable, highly recommended.

Bar none! And I truly truly mean this sincerely! A cooked salmon dish delivered RAW twice, and once coated in gluten containing marinade, one diners main never arriving AT ALL and thorough damn right rudeness from the get go I would STRONGLY advise NOBODY to bother visiting this restaurant. A restaurant resting in its laurels of old reputation. And as mentioned without doubt em the worst, rudest, sub standard restaurant experience of my entire life! Shameful Yi Ban. And certain members of staff do not deserve a job at all here. Lovely Chinese with a good view of London City Airport (if you like a bit of plane spotting) Food is lovely, but as with a lot of restaurants, the drinks prices can be a little steep even for non-alcoholic drinkers like myself.

alas, yi ban was a let down. if you are shocked by the exterior, you will be unsurprised by the time warp into 1995 that ensues when you enter the premises. We called ahead to let them know we'd be late (reso for 6 30 - arrived 6 42). They asked if we wanted a window seat- we said yes. this meant 30 more minutes of waiting in a strange nook where time stood still. should we have said we'd take any seat? maybe. the dim sum menu was not operational as it was a lunch time thing, which wasnt clear when I booked it but maybe my bad for overlooking this. the food was limp where it should have been crisp - and crisp where it should have been tender. the quality did not match the price - the portion sizes were unpredictable. we dropped a cool £100+ here and we can't help but feel like a couple of chumps. On a plus side, the food came promptly and the menu was extensive.

They have fantastic views here looking across prince regent dock towards City Airport. A large sprawling space with lots of tables . As I was dining on my own I just ordered one dish which was the seafood ho fun, it's best to come here with friends and try their dim sum. My dish was tasty although I would've liked a little more sauce and less noodles. At £15 the price was a little punchy but it's what you'd expect for the area. Service was straight to the point and efficient

Celebrating St Valentine's Day with a Chinese meal is our tradition. We were not disappointed. The food is very good, the service perfect and a great view of the dock and airport added to our enjoyment. Only negative however was for a high end Chinese I was surprised that the top table cloth and napkins were of poor quality paper!

MINIMUM SPEND PER PERSON: £20 - is that even legal? Unfriendly staff who weren’t very hospitable. Overpriced food and drinks with high service charge. Odd location. Staff didn’t sing happy birthday, one member of staff just came over with a small £5 ice cream we had to pay for. Wasn’t a great vibe in the restaurant. Overall, unfortunately this was an unpleasant experience. Better food elsewhere with the same prices. Food was barely hot.

We have visited this restaurant over many years, and have always enjoyed ambiance, particularly in the evenings. The quality and range (menu) of food is excellent for all occasions and the customer service is outstanding. Most lunchtime meals are equally excellent, except for Dim sum range on Saturday lunch menu. It's not our favourite in any case. Accessibility is good with a lift and a decent size car park. We used to enjoy the alive entertainment in the evenings, which has appeared to have been stopped. Otherwise, overall experience is exceptional.

For example, the hot and sour soup tasted like water, neither sour nor spicy, and lacked ingredients. The shredded chicken with jellyfish skin had no flavor, and the chicken wings were so tough that they were hard to chew. The pork chop was very dry. Overall, it was a huge disappointment, especially considering that the prices were not cheap. I had been to Yi Ban years ago and seeing as it was my daughter's birthday, we went again and I was slightly worried about some recent negative reviews. There was nothing to fear, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. We had dim sum, the mixed seafood, garlic and onion prawns, kung-po chicken and sizzling beef. We had a lovely time and we would go back again. Highly recommend.

My go-to place for dim sum! Food - We ordered some dim sum and some dishes on their main menu. All are of high quality. Recommend dishes - chicken claws, Char Siu puff pastry, chicken mushroom rice, crab meat dumplings, crystal scallops dumplings Atmosphere was very good, very suitable for gatherings with family and a group of friends.

We visited Yi ban for a dim sum lunch, fueled by the positive reviews I had read. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations and I feel compelled to share my honest feedback. The Xiao long dumplings were a letdown, the skin was noticeably thick, particularly on top, overshadowing the limited amount of meat inside. The century egg congee lacked the desired starchiest and the wonton noodle dish suffered from excessive saltiness, with noodle lacking the desired springiness. Even the chee Cheong fun failed to impress, as the indregients lacked the anticipated crispness, leaving the overall dish lacking in texture. The spare rib pork is under marinated. The siew mai lack of freshness, it appeared as though they were taken directly from frozen packaging and steamed. Har gow had thicker than desired skin. If a chef serves dumpling annd Har gow with thick skin, it suggested that the chef might not have anchieved the desired level of expertise in crafting the delicate dishes. A true master wouldn’t serve customer subpar dim sum. Out of 10 dishes we ordered, only 2 managed to meet our taste expectation. In term of service, there was a notable ansence of attentiveness. The fudges were simply placed on the table without any form of service and the waitress appeared to be in a hurried state. Regrettably, we won’t be returning to Yi ban. The travel was a waste of time, and the money spent on the food felt unjustified.

Great view with dim sum, so lovely!

Tried this place first time since it’s round the corner to me. We went at lunch time near to opening time thinking it would be tad quiet. How very wrong we were. It was super busy inside and out. You have to get a ticket and wait your turn to get a table which would have been helpful if they state that on the website. Otherwise we would have thought to be quing up with others until we asked the other customers. Thinking it’s so busy you would think the food is bang on. Unfortunately the mains were a let down. However, we did think of there were halal options maybe it would have been decent. Therefore we could only order veg or seafood items. The prawn toasties and the crab dumplings were a hit. However, the prawns with chives and prawn dumplings were average. For the mains we ordered king prawn noodles which was bland. The fried rice with egg and coconut (make sure you make it clear seafood only if you want halal as they give duck in it) was a little better but not too much flavour. However the fresh orange juice was definitely fresh and yum. Overall the service was prompt despite it being busy and the food came out hot and fresh unlike some restaurants.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. The service and staff are excellent and the food is to die for. Ample parking and cracking views.

Without their crispy fried chicken, I would have left only one star. I have been to Yi-Ban twice. The first-time experience was pretty good; their chicken was delicious and had higher quality than Hong Kong counterparts. Yet, the second time was a disaster. Dim Sum tasted very awful, particularly their Xiao Long Bao which was the worst one I’ve ever tried in my life. I even got stomachache immediately after I finished eating their food. Considering the quality of their dim sum, it was very expensive.

Don’t get tricked by the locals who have never had real Chinese food. Me and my daughter came as tourists who were staying in the area to see London and were craving some Chinese style food after days of the same English hotel food. Their entrance was hard to find but it wasn’t really a big deal. Once we were inside we asked to sit by the window since there were only about 3 groups in the room so it was fairly empty. They denied us saying “it would take too long to clean the other tables for us and this one was fine”. Even though those tables were already set and prepared. Anyways once the food came we were disappointed, we ordered the eggplant chicken hotpot and immediately it was apparent that they didn’t cook the food in the sauce, only poured it on top because once u bit into the chicken and the sauce was gone, it just tasted like plain meat. No flavor at all. The chicken was also not well cooked, it was tough and tasted like a refrigerator. We also had to ask for water, and when we asked if we could have it warm since it was a cold day they said they would “have to charge us a pound per person”. Never been to a place that charges different prices for cold vs hot water. We spent 37£ for two dishes and it was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. Do not come here just spend the money at co-op.

We come here for brunch ever month. The food itself are excellent. I would say probably one of the best dim sum places in London. The service is below the average but it is typical Cantonese style. The down side is the waiting time. It could last 90 minutes easily if you arrive late on a Sunday. And the parking is not free. £3.15 for two hours. The view is quite good. The LCY airport is just in front of you and you can see all airplanes taking off.

I, personally, would not recommend however it’s worth noting there were lots of Chinese people in here, which is normally always a good sign. First off, I booked a table for 12 of us on Boxing Day for my dads birthday. We always go to a Chinese on 26th Dec but our usual (Royal China) was closed. I booked via telephone and on arrival was told they have no recollection of my booking and they demanded a confirmation email - no one took my email address when I booked. They eventually got us seated but the table wasn’t really big enough for all of us and the lazy Susan was lopsided (which later caused a drink to be spilled). Portions were small. Ordered second plate of satay chicken but wasn’t provided with a second bowl of satay sauce. Ribs were tough and almost inedible. Seaweed came out after we’d finished all the other starters. Pancakes for shredded duck were undercooked and all stuck together, they also charged us £1.80 for another batch requested. Most of the mains were cold and just mediocre. The sizzling pepper beef and honey roasted pork were the only dishes hot and they were nice. Service was ok, our waitress was very pleasant. Drinks took ages to come each time. We won’t be back unfortunately.

Been coming here for over 12 years, for weddings, family meals and get together. Dim sum is lovely here and dinner is great too. Lovely views for the water & airport.

Very nice Chinese restaurant, have only been for dim sum so can't rate the evening food. Definitely one of the finer Chinese dim sum places in the area but, just don't expect too much from the service, you are there for the food only.

Good Chinese food that is quite close to the excel centre. Portions are really big, so I would recommend keeping that in mind when ordering. I got Won Ton Soup, which was alright, although expected it to have more flavour. Then Singapore noodles and kung pao chicken, which was good. The Kung Pao chicken was particularly tasty. A little expensive for what it is (bill ended up being 40 pounds for 1 person), but I was happy in the end due to the limited choices in the area. If I was going with other people, I would maybe try the set menu or the dim sum

Have been going there for many years now, great view of London City Airport, we would go to China town but I feel they are just as nice or even better.

In town for a convention from America. They accepted a reservation for 2 on a weekend for 8pm. Arrived a little late as the entrance was a bit difficult to find, but it was not an issue. Seated quickly and order was taken promptly. Service was fine. The view was nice. But we were charged for still water while others around us got served without charge from a pitcher. Sweet and sour chicken was fine, but the chicken noodles were incredibly burnt. At first I thought the dark brown was just due to a sauce but it was incredibly acrid and smelt burnt. And yet the onions were raw. Very sub par and we did not happily part with our money for this meal. Will not return for dinner service.

It was very busy the day we visited. Kitchen gave one of our mains to another table. There was a general lack of attention to detail. Food is okay but not the best I have had in the area.

We were a group of 7 wanting to eat after a long day working an event at the Excel. Food came out hot and everyone got their dishes in a reasonable amount of time. Waiter did come out to tell us that 2 of the dishes that were ordered had run out so we said to not worry about them and just make sure they were removed from the final bill. A few of our group had ordered cocktails halfway through the meal which near the end still hadn’t turned up, so we ended up having the table cleared of everything but still waiting on the cocktails. We got them 20 mins after the table was cleared. When the bill came we found that the 2 dishes that didn’t come out due to not being available were still on our bill so we had to wait an additional 10 mins to get that sorted. It was nice to see the planes go by from our table as well, so would will come back again but probably in a small group.

By far the best Chinese food I've eaten in London! The view of the aeroplanes taking off is a great addition too. We went with our baby (3 months) and the staff were more than happy to accommodate our pram. We went on a Sunday at around 3.00pm and there were no queues, but the restaurant was still packed out. We can't wait to return!!

here is my story, I was recommended by lots of friends about the food here, and been very excited to having dinner, when I got in, the waiter told me they had a wedding feast tonight and not able to serve eat in food, we were travelling 1 h to get there. And the second time, we called in the morning to ask if it’s okay to walk in and eat, was told okay, and same thing happened again under the situation of we had confirmed with them. We were told to wait 45min - 60 min. I don’t know what to say, I don’t have right to rate their food, but this is a restaurant lost their integrity and genuine, and don’t respect customers time but only care about MONEY

It’s a huge place only 2 minutes walk from the Doubletree. It was a Friday night and the place was packed, but they managed to squeeze us in. The service was good, but the food was to die for - really tasty!

Worst service ever… all staff were so unfriendly and grumpy and were Not even able to split the bill into 4… we will definitely never come back here again… Food was okay but the service destroyed even the Food…

It's been a long while since I've been back to this restaurant, my last experience was a put me off. Recently one of my friends suggested that they might have improve after all, they have a 5 Star in food hygiene. Well, the food is somewhat OK, not fantastic Dim Sum venue but OK. Not a venue I'll rushing back to.

Beautifully presented and tasting food. Staying at the Double Tree it was only a short walk. We visited early on a Friday. Around 4pm and the restaurant was quiet but was getting busy when we left. We had a set menu at £35 each with an addition. Food was outstanding (and so much) plenty for 2 with a lovely view
